Surely it is but if you have a chronic offender who adds you and follows you, might be a problem. Not that I’ve ever seen that or a player with that little of a life to do that… shrug

It does happen, sometimes, unfortunately and it’s obviously not something anyone should have to put up with.

I’m really sorry to hear that. I’d hope in an extreme case such as that, there would be measures available.

There is. You document harrasement with screenshots and noting the char name/display name, dates, time and location and map ip. Then you make a ticket and send the information to support.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

I honestly liked how “long” it took because of the best of 5, 7 and 9 setting.
Everybody is going to have his own opinion about it, but people are probably gonna watch it anyways.

Props to Nike and DnT for organizing the tourney again!

So along with guildhalls and the Maguuma Jungle, do we also get the missing emotes, the Crystal Desert, the Ring of Fire, and a fixed Zhaitan fight?

Because I think I’m sensing a trend here. Promise some things, then don’t deliver on them, and then include them in the expansion at full price! Profit!

I don’t know why people seem to think finally getting around to adding a feature that existed in the original game (ie Guild Halls) is such a big thing- they should have been in at the start.

Skill updates, etc should have been happening every month, instead they hold them all back.

Dumbing down the trait trees and restricting build choice and stat selection is being sold as an ‘expansion’.

Grinding for mastery points, 3-4 new maps which we know nothing about, a new race, the inevitable hugely buggy wvw map (first new map since launch) and one new spvp map and the usual spam 1 zerg fest mechanics.

Sounds well worth the money…..

I’ll be playing gw1 for the foreseeable future- you know, the game with guild halls, templates for builds, real teams, hard missions and no face palm one shot cheese mechanics.

All I see are people complainig about not getting gems or chracter slits for buying the expansion. You already do not have to pay a subscription fee. I have never seen a community of players whine about not getting free stuff added to a game so much. Maybe it is the non subscription that has created this mentality but arenanet does not owe you guys anything but a game that you have bought to play. Thats it period.

I just want to know exactly what I’m getting for my money. ANet haven’t provided this information. When they do, I can decide what to do.

Not just going to buy based on hype, promises and no information. Otherwise you’re just gambling and hoping.

How I think dungeon skipping can be fixed

You have all these arcane ideas to “solve the problem” of skipping trash. From a philosophical standpoint, this makes no sense. In order to solve a problem you first have to establish it is a problem at all. Since no one has yet been able to cite why this is a problem whatsoever, any solution offered to solve it is automatically irrelevant.

Thanks for sharing your solution that you obviously didn’t think about for more than 5 seconds. You can’t seriously believe that unblockable cripple would improve the game or make it more fun in any way…

Or have we all forgotten about this?

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Hyenas-1

You wouldn’t really be punishing speedrunners. They’d just stealth/dodge/skip/portal past anything that cripples, assuming if the current tactic of ‘run faster than they can hit you’ (which works perfectly) stopped working. This would just kitten off casuals xD

I am really sad for the developers that they have a sizeable chunk of the player base who barely understand the game, barely understand that the developers said “DPS, support and control are our trinity” years and years ago, and cry to this day about Healers and Tanks. It must be deflating to deal with that. I only hope the devs know how to see the signal through the noise and phase out these sad people.

This is what you get in a game that doesn’t punish you almost at all for being bad.
No negative reinforcement policy that makes players “get good or go home” means that huge masses of terrible players are left to roam freely in the open world without having the faintest clue of how the game works apart from “i’m hitting stuff with a sharp thing”.

The ones crying for “healers and tanks” are the ones that can’t bother to adapt, or figure out that this game isn’t what they wanted it to be. It’s the ones who don’t care about what other people want or enjoy and demand everything be changed to cater to them so they can be “special” once again.

I feel the typical “healer/tank” person comes from a trinity MMO where they played roles that made them necessary no matter how bad or annoying they were because of the number discrepancy between healer/tank and dps players.
So they come to GW2 where suddenly they’re no longer special just because of the character they decided to make and actually have to play decently and be decent people so they get on the forums demanding they get their special status back.

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

Not only will they never be fixed, they’re getting more and more bugged:

  • Every update introduces new bugs as side-effects of whatever they’re implementing (in some other part of the game, of course).
  • They don’t bother to fix bugs that are dungeon related.

I imagine within a year, Lupi will not only continue to be hitting in melee with Necrid Bolt, but each one will spawn a new Lupi.

Who are we kidding with diversity and/or viability? Don’t try to make Signet or Miam mesmer happen.

but according to HRH Iris the mesmer class is a bountiful wonderland of build diversity.

But you see, I’m just an inferior PvE being who can’t quite comprehend this diversity.

Eh, just code all the bosses as objects, like Tequatl. Crits won’t happen, so 2/3 of zerk is pointless.

Then everyone will use Soldier gear, which has no easy way to earn (better do those Guild Missions, boyos!), or maybe 1 of 5 dungeon runners will have a condi build.

That’ll fix everything.

Many alts; handle it!

I am a very seasoned pugeoneer.

Where do I even kittening begin?
Where does one start with what appears to be the decline of the species?
Keep in mind that this is the place that I need, this is my therapy after performing countless surgeries, many of which were sadly unsuccessful and resulted in the loss of the patient. It’s very emotional ok.

First I’m going to outline the source of the disease. Then we’ll move on to susceptibility, disease vectors, early symptoms and treatment. Keep in mind that the further a patient is into the disease, the more terminal it is which is why I’ve lost countless people on the operating table that is zerk only LFG pugging.

Many people, including myself from time to time, have a hard time comprehending how a patient’s logic becomes so twisted. What was one thinking when he traited strength in numbers and placed signet of judgement on his bar? Well I’m here to tell you the sad truth. Many don’t think much past ‘this sounds good and I like the idea of it’ and this is something that you will find commonly in new players. That’s fine. The problems are the ones that have been around a long time, and continue to think this way. How did it get this way for them? Well it started with that mentality, and then it stopped there. They did not progress. Much like an underdeveloped fetus, this is the extent of their abilities. They have and always will, play whatever makes them feel special and good, even if it is clearly a detriment to the team. I call this foggy eye syndrome, their eyes are so clouded with snowflakes that they cannot see the destruction they are causing around them with their headshot rifle, staff guardian builds etc. They will also happily join meta only parties and insist they are contributing, often convincing themselves that they are playing the biggest and most important role in the party and/or carrying zerk bads hard.

Then you have the people I like to call metabaddles. They got their build off metabattle and haven’t bothered to think about if it’s actually good or not. While metabattle is currently (trying?) to correct their awful dungeon builds, some are still out of date and sadly once a person becomes infected via metabattle, they don’t return to the site to see if there’s a better build or an update. So you have people from aeons ago running these awful builds, thinking they’re doing the right thing, and because these builds with awful traits and weapon sets had zerker gear, they think this is the best build possible and really good for zerk only/meta only parties. When questioned, they become immediately defensive and start claiming that metabattle is the one true god and will be kitten ed if anyone insults their prized deity. Concurrently we have the youtube ‘community’ who jump onto any ‘popular’ channel and immediately think that because a build has lots of likes and views it must be showcasing the best, most efficient build out there, I mean come on, since when can lots of people be wrong together?!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonestown

As for vectors, along with the sources we also have word of mouth. This is especially prevalent in large guilds guilds with lots of people. Everyone’s got an opinion and no actual facts. They get their bad builds from above sources and then spread it like wildfire throughout their guild members, this in turn is transmitted when they get out into the pug parties and start telling new players to run these awful builds, as they are the best. A common warning sign as an example, is watching a nomads guard continually congratulate himself on a slow run, by saying that his party members never got downed, and spam pinging his skills at what he perceives to be important moments that he alone is controlling. The new player is easily impressed by this and will take interest in running that build.

Early symptoms: These are very easy to spot and I’m sure your average player has encountered these cringe worthy moments many times. The patient will often start with innocent questions, such as ‘is p/p thief any good? Does staff on guardian do the most damage?’ Of course the answer is no, but then the patient will keep asking the question until they get the answer they want, all it takes is one person (usually someone else who is infected) to agree with them and say what they want to hear which is ‘yes, this build is good’ for that person to then become infected too. They will then cling to that notion and completely ignore anything else. Often times they will take to forums with these awful builds and seek further confirmation, completely tunnel-visioning through any rational argument and looking for anyone willing to give them a pat on the back and tell them it’s a job well done. This in a way, is much like a person with 2 voices in their head. A small whisper says ’it’s bad’ but a strong voice bellows ‘ITS A GOOD BUILD’ over and over until the small doubtful voice is quelled. Seeking confirmation from others is important in making sure that small doubtful voice kittens off and is never heard from again.
Treatment is extremely reliant on the stage of the disease that the person is in. For example, someone with 15k AP and a bunch of legendaries running a staff AH guardian with bloodlust stacks and a bunch of shouts is a hell of alot harder to cure than someone with a couple hundred AP and a thrown together build of whatever he thinks might work because he doesn’t know any better. Remember that ignorance is not part of the illness and is perfectly excusable, however self denial is a huge problem and often results in the terminal diagnosis. If one wished to treat these patients it must be done with care. Show them the difference, ask them to try some things, work them into it slowly. The realisation of what they’ve been doing wrong will be an epiphany that will hit them like a bucket full of bricks.

For those poor souls that fail to see the light.. The p/p thieves, the warrior stacked heavy only parties, the bearbows, the staff camping guards etc etc. Take comfort in knowing that not everyone can be saved, feel good about the ones that you did *sheds tear *

We aren’t saying it’s all that common. Just occasionally.

The debate here is between those who believe it’s okay to offend because they never are and if you are too bad Vs the follow the rules you agreed to crowd.

Not necessarily.

Of course an actual attack on another (or group) is inappropriate and should be handled appropriately. The issue, for some of us at least, is what constitutes offensive when it comes to a word or phrase. Choosing to take offense at a collection of letters on screen (when they are not directed as an attack against anyone) is not a measure of whether or not the individual typing them is being offensive. If it were then anything that anyone could ever possibly say could be “offensive.”

This made me sad...
