you’re a war and using a rifle, …..and on fractals 50?… and there are 2 more of you?. Explain yourself! No sympathy here. Though the remaining 2 players should not have been so verbally confrontational. Instead, they should have, as i would, kicked you 3 without mercy or a second thought, though quietly the moment they see the rifle being used as main.

If ya no longer see me after this post,

Haven’t been around lately, though maybe I’ll have some more time from today to the end of July.

Also, I modified this.

And I saw a beast rising out of the patch, with toughness and vitality, without damage on its attributes and blasphemous healing power on its heads. And the beast that I saw was like a Settler’s; its major was like a Knight’s, and its minor was like a Soldier’s. And to it the Cleric gave his Healing and his Toughness, but not his minor power. One of its heads seemed to have been kicked, but it was reinvited, and all the casuals marveled as they followed the beast. And they worshiped the Cleric, for he had given his attributes to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “I play how I want, and stacking is for noob zergburgers” And the beast was given healing shouts, and it never dropped a banner during his runs.

Sigh..Kicked from dungeon (again)

Easy solution to prevent getting kicked at end of dungeon.

ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS be the one who opens the dungeon. Enter dungeon BEFORE starting an LFG. If they decide to be jerks, and kick you at the end in favor of a guildie, they all get kicked too. So everybody loses.

Also if you can remember which guild it was, you can always try to find the guild leader and report their behavior to them. I would like to think that most guild leaders would frown upon this behavior as it makes their guild look bad.

Guild Wars 2 is the only MMO I’ve ever played that didn’t have a tutorial. No, there’s a story intro stage that teaches players absolutely nothing but how to use 1, and that red circles are bad. From there, players are put into the wide open world, where we can do amazing things like learn about norn totems or help out on various farms with menial tasks. Players are left on their own, and if they aren’t theorycrafters like the top 5% of us, they aren’t going to know squat about how to play the game.

I stopped here because, no offense, it doesn’t sound like you’ve played many MMOs at all. Most of them are more or less the basics and then crowd sourcing knowledge. That’s intentional to push the social aspect. It’s been done since WoW and god help you if you didn’t know something in Everquest.

In EverQuest My FIRST MMO I learned the HARD way to NOT click the A key without the chat bar up if targetting an NPC.

EverQuest seemed to take a perverse pleasure in denying you basic knowledge, and expecting you to Look elsewhere… websites… other players, your Guild. And …

It worked. Back then we WERE more social. we also took a LOT Longer to hit level cap… remember Hell levels? XP Loss on death, Corpse runs…etc…

As I seee it One of the problems Not Just with Gw2, but with MMO’s in general… especially those without a devoted following is… the desire to cater to the casual player.

It leads to a dumbing down of content, and a simplifying of game mechanics.

I fear that as things are… The MMO’s of the future will have One class called “Hero” and 3 skills. " Punch" " Kick" and " Dodge".

The mind is its own place and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.

Are you asking me how to fit more than one melee player on a boss without them overlapping? Incidentally overlapping is not stacking. Stacking is when everyone in the party intentionally stands on the same space for the duration of the fight.

I uh… um.

Okay.

No, this would be stacking (and some amazing 5 minutes drawing skills lol )

Holy kitten, that looks kittening awesome.

I am so kitten sick of stacking.

It effectively ruins all the dungeon content in the game. No more fighting the boss as it was designed. Nope, gotta all sit in a weird corner watching my cooldowns go off. Oh, and this time it decided to magically not work, so we have to go try it again.

I know all you professional dungeon runners are in love with the idea of cheesing down content to get it done faster, but for all of us that actually enjoy fighting bosses and doing PvE content, stacking is killing our love for this game.

I just have to wonder why ANet lets this kind of thing go. Why are they just enabling their playerbase to just cheat their way through dungeons? Doesn’t that go against everything game designers and developers are supposed to stand for?

I don’t know. I’m just so kitten sick of cheesing my way through every bit of content in this game.

“Magically not work” he says.

Sounds like someone who has no idea why people stack.

I’ve stacked perfectly multiple times in a row and sometimes it just doesn’t work. That’s probably the worst part. If it worked 100% every time I’d understand but basically people are gambling on the system breaking and sometimes that doesn’t happen and the boss creams you because, guess what, you’re all just standing in one spot.

You know, like what’s supposed to happen.

Explain to us why groups stack:

hint #1 – it’s nothing to do with exploiting bosses.

1) People stack because they are using melee weapons and have no choice but to stay close to eachother. Melee confirmed exploit.

2) People stack because they want to break line of sight and force mobs to them and prevent ranged attacks. Environment confirmed exploit.

3) People stack because defensive utility such as wall of reflection has a small AoE. Surviving Not having healers confirmed exploit.

4) People stack because they can buff eachother. Banners confirmed exploit.

5) People stack because they want to cuddle. Love confirmed exploit.

Zerker is fine

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fror.2163

Fror.2163

The berserker gear is fine.

People are making threads for nearly one year about the berserker gear being bad. The recent modifications to the crit damages made low level dungeons easier and higher level dungeons harder.

People keep complaining about the fact that there are lots and lots of lfgs requiring the participants to use berserker gear (or equivalent, like assassin). What I see is indeed a lot of lfgs at a single time that require berserker gear. But when I look closer, I see that the ones that don’t require a berserker gear are filling much more quickly. So what do we learn from this? That a lots of berserker gear-oriented people are willing to create lfgs and people with other types of equipment barely create any lfg and when they do, they immediately fill. If I count, there are, over time, less lfgs for berserker gear as there are without any indication.

What I see also is a lot of complains about the reward should be compensated in regards to the risk, and since there are no risks in this game, people should all get the same rewards. Well, actually there is a risk. Yes, I am a berserker elitist in this game and I try to pull the general level of the gamers to better skills. I pay the hard price for it:

  • I often pug and all I get, even in “berserker only” parties are guys with PVT, guys with other kind of gears. It takes me a good time to get an acceptable party according to my basic requirements. So I lose time.
  • Also, when I don’t gearcheck, those substandard players (not only because they’re in not-zerker but also because they don’t read and join my group anyways) get me downed because the fights last too long. I’m not an über-skilled player: I’m an okay player and I can compensate most of the failures of the rest of my party, but certainly not all. So I lost time as well.

So please, all of you that don’t like the berserker “meta” is because:

  • you don’t see enough non-“zerker only” lfgs. Solution? Be quicker at joining groups or create your very lfg.
  • you don’t want to increase your chance of bad groups by joining non-zerker meta. Solution? Create your lfg.
  • you don’t want to uplevel your skill to an acceptable level. Solution? Before going to zerker, use the trait builds that zerkers use and improve yourself with that, then switching to zerker is only a question of time.
  • you’ve been in a trinity system for too long and cannot think outside the box like GW2 forces you. The gear is not the build. The gear is a tool for your build. Solution: open your mind and learn to play GW2 for being GW2, not another MMO.
  • you don’t want to be forced into zerker gear. Solution? No one actually forces you! Create your lfg and leave us zerker elitists together.
  • your partner in a dungeon says you to use zerker and gives you clues about your class and you don’t like it because “I play how I want” and mostly because you don’t like being shown in what is regarded as wrong. Solution? Be humble and listen to him. Don’t think that you know everything, because… you don’t. Be critic, give his advice a try or two and keep using what you’re comfortable with.

So while we all wait for ArenaNet to actually make challenging content that doesn’t need a 5 hours learning phase, bear with us, live with us and up your level.

“But I don’t want that, I want zerker to be nerfed now.”
Then your cause is lost. Go play cards.

Frór (yes, with the accent!)

@maha: I have no problem with them finding someway to burst it, you even mentioned guardian running staff, which is currently a big no no. At the very least it would provide a different challenge than what your average stack and spank pug is used to. If they made the stunbreak+stability trigger shortly after it’s cc’d and made it run at +25% combatspeed, I think it’d provide much more of a challenge then you seem to think.

pre-nerf Alphard and Lupicus are “a different challenge” – and how have the community responded to these? They don’t do the dungeon or they just buy the paths. Aetherblade TA path is “different” too – even worse, nobody does that besides a very small minority.

different =/= good

Hey, as another player who likes soloing champs, I know how much risk one hit can take. But that was Lupicus – this is a solo fight. Zerker or not, there was risk. I’m not talking about that – there’s ‘no-risk’ going zerker in WvW, PvE, etc. It all comes down to how much DPS can one player dish out.

You should see some of the pugs I’ve done it with. Full tank warriors soaking up bubbles, kicks, swipes, everything. Stacking toughness and vitality honestly makes a lot of the hard hitting attacks blanks. When I solo on berserker a swipe hits me for 17k, in my rabid condi solos it hits for 12k.

Whenever someone wants to try something new, general attitude is ‘shoot it down and bury the idea’. Anything not following the zerker meta, is dubbed a troll build, or ineffective. But there’s a reason why it is.

Zerker is the automatic answer to everything. “I want to use this weapon set” – go zerker. “I want to farm dungeons” – go zerker. “I want to roam in WvW” – go zerker. “I want to survive in PvE” – kill everything before it hits you. Go zerker. “I want to watch my enemies burn” – oh. Ok, go condi.

“zerker” is not the answer at all. “here is the best dps build” is the answer. This can mean berserker or assassin, it can mean scholar, strength or ranger runes. I also have a faster condi solo of a heavy armour boss (2:57) than I do with a berserker build (2:59) – conditions are very viable in solo settings.

There’s nothing that can be done to change this. The game promotes movement, quick response, and positioning. And hey, that’s great, it’s one thing I like in this game. But if you don’t get hit, why bother using any other setup that doesn’t contribute to damage?

Everyone gets hit. This is why “just dodge” tryhards annoy me – nobody mitigates 100% of the damage dealt to them. Just pug dungeons, they’ll eat the floor all the time if someone isn’t carrying them. Sure, if you can learn to mitigate damage there is no need to use a defensive setup. But if you find yourself taking damage, that’s when you can go sure, maybe I need some knights or soldiers gear. The minority of people who can mitigate most of the damage dealt to them lie in a handful of elite speedclear guilds, 99% of players aren’t at that level and I wish people would stop pretending they are – the average player in this game is bad, can’t dodge and cares more for simply getting a dungeon done than getting it done efficiently.

Why do people try to be "tanks" in dungeons?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Lilith Ajit.6173

Lilith Ajit.6173

Well, in their defense, it’s not all that intuitive?

Sure, people posting on this forum might have some idea that Personal Defense options are just sort of these unspoken deadzones in PvE character building. But it’s not the game itself does anything to make it clear those options are PvP only.

Imagine how confusing that is for somebody new?

And before anybody pulls the Meta card on me. This would also be true even in the ideal scenario where the Support/Control/DPS trinity existed. Because personal defense doesn’t seemingly have anymore relevancy on those two lost roles than it does DPS.

I do agree with you. I guess the idea is that people with 10k+ AP who are obviously not new are still arguing that tank spec is the way to go. I think THAT is more confusing to new players.

It might be a bit backhanded, but I was trying out another game, and the aesthetic was so poor and the frame rate so inexcusably bad, that I really came to appreciate how relatively well-tuned GW2 is. The character models look good (excluding the Charrmour problem! plx fix), many of the zones feel great to travel in, and many of the vista set pieces really give a sense of size for the world.

And it all runs great on my PC. So, hat-tip to the staff who did such a good job putting it all together.

(Now just fix the megaserver population size and stick in some persistent end-game content in there, and it’ll be cherry. Oh, and fix the kitten’d Charr armor. Seriously.)

Remember to always place your trust in the Holy Trinity of DPS.

  • May Power, the Father grant you His Might to rain death in the form of large numbers on top of your enemies.
  • May Precision, the Son, with His Fury guide your blades into the flimsiest of their armor.
  • Though fallen, may Ferocity, the Holy Spirit, imbue you and magnify the virtues of both, the Father and the Son, so that your blows may fall heavy on your foes taking on the shape of more hard-hitting crits.

Spared and blessed be the followers of the Assassin that, though slightly bent on their ways, share our vision of smooth and efficient speedruns.

May you never degenerate and fall and be led astray to the misguided ways of the Rampager, or the nefarious path of the Soldier, or the wretched lanes of the Rabid.

May your faith in the Berserker never falter, your Fury never quenched, and your Might always stacked to 25.
For Great Justice!
Amen.

Don’t know if its just that there’s more folks around in general, or specific to the mega-servers. But to me it seems like they have brought back the bots. While finding a spot to do stuff on my own now I run into others that just kill stuff, they don’t respond to whispers asking if they want to participate in the event or not. If I had to guess they are just bots from the way the move from fight to fight. Before the mega-servers when I met others we would often chat a bit, tag along together for an event or two before parting ways again.

Some are bots: But there could be other reasons.
I have turned off whispers to avoid gold spam in pve.
I have turned of map chat to avoid the megaserver map chat.
They could be speaking a completely different language from yours. no comprehension of what you said.
They could be ignoring you as- stopping to chat means again having to wait for all the players around to stop being there—(in vain) so you can complete your heart.
I used to be a friendly player and didn’t mind giving advice or helping out- ressing-
Now—— I want the other players to die.
Socialize? whats the point- you will never see them again- It’s not like you have a server community to meet up with.-
