There’s no easy answer because your completion speeds depend on your level of skill, and some of the most efficient dungeons are also among the harder ones. By level of skill, I’m assuming that your PuG teammates are useless beyond being meatshields and doing basic dungeon mechanics, and you’ll need to carry the games – none of them are hard if you luck out and find a good team.
So in any case, in descending order of rewards/unit time assuming you can carry any and all dungeons…
Arah Path 1
Arah Path 2
Crucible of Eternity Path 3 (24) [5cc, 1.05g, cLode, cCore, t5claw, t6claw, dLode, dCore] <Pre-locked>
Crucible of Eternity Path 1 [5cc, 1.05g. cLode, cCore] <Pre-locked>
Sorrow’s Embrace Path 1 (8) [5cc, 1.05g]
Sorrow’s Embrace Path 3 (10) [5cc, 1.05g]
Crucible of Eternity Path 2 (22) [5 cc, 1.05g, cLode, cCore] <Pre-locked>
Ascalonian Catacombs Path 2 (12) [7cc, 1.55g]
Ascalonian Catacombs Path 1 (11) [4cc, 1.55g]
Ascalonian Catacombs Path 3 (14) [4cc, 1.55g]
Caudecus’ Manor Path 2 (14) [5 cc, 1.05g]
Twilight Arbor Up (14) [4cc, 1.05g]

Honor of the Waves Path 1 (Melee all bosses) [3 cc, 1.05g]
Twilight Arbor Forward [4cc, 1.05g]
Caudecus’ Manor Path 3 (15) [2 cc, 1.05g]
Honor of the Waves Path 2 [4cc, 1.05g] <Water>
Honor of the Waves Path 3 [4cc, 1.05g] <Water>
Arah Path 3
Citadel of Flame Path 1 [2cc, 1.05g] <Pre-locked>
Citadel of Flame Path 2 [1cc. 1.05g] <Pre-locked>
Sorrow’s Embrace Path 2 [8cc, 1.05g]
Arah Path 4
Citadel of Flame Path 3 [3cc, 1.05g] <Pre-locked>
Twilight Arbor Aetherpath
It’ll take some time to gather moar data. Order is an estimate, bracketed numbers are times, square brackets are rewards (cc = champ chests), triangle brackets are extra info.
Aside from stated rewards all paths also give tokens, which can be converted into insignia for some stat combinations via the exotics for all paths except CoF, whereby the most profitable route for that is to exchange for lvl 70 rare light helms and break for ecto.
Eliminate from this all the dungeons that you’re not capable of carrying, and you get your rotation.
I assume also that you get no Exotic drops worth mentioning, as getting a high value Aetherblade drop would change its place a lot.
This is very different from what most people run, as most people cannot/don’t want to carry pugs through the harder dungeons. I personally don’t want to carry PuGs through HoTW, Arah or Aetherpath, but I’m fine with the others. Most people simply repeat CoF 1,2 AC 3, SE 1,3, TA U as they are the easiest dungeons, but some of them, especially CoF 1 and AC 3, are slow regardless of your skill level due to mechanics you’re forced to wait for.
And if your PuGs cannot complete basic mechanics, some paths like CoF 1 and CM 2 can be uncompletable.

Flame axe has the advantage of being a total hipster ele weapon, as the summon that nobody ever uses, and is wayyy better for style points than the mainstream ice bow.
i have a friend who constantly trash talks me, and then whenever we do fractals he whips out rifle on warrior and sits back and ranges all final bosses….
but really for me its thieves who dont take sword/pistol when the group needs blinds in fractals, or the ones who argue that d/d > blinds
A lot of people seem to forget that stealthing from a thief perspective is mostly “press 5 and let the group blast”. It’s more of a team effort really.
God I wish most of the time taht was all I had to do
, only with good players.
Even with good players, the good thief still has to blast on their Black Powder twice with short bow and even use Blinding Powder on top of it if stealth duration is not enough. In fact, good thieves need to watch out for their group’s stealth duration at all times and know which spots are safe to refresh and where to path the mobs.

No, main selling point is to show your cosmetics to other people. If they can turn it off at will, why bother buying it?
So, they enjoy shoving that stuff in other players faces even if those players do not like it. Perfectly explains wing-lovers mindset.
I love it how “white knighting” has been turned into confetti – thrown around everywhere for no other reason than “because I can”…
I don’t know what moral high ground you’re talking about, but I’m going by the terms of use I agreed to when I bought this game, but whatever, I suppose it’s the cool thing to do these days to neither read the rules nor play by them.
My guess is staff don’t comment explicitly on 3rd party software because stuff that doesn’t interfere with game mechanics is considered okay, but things get iffy when it comes to software that allows one player to see something other playsers can’t see without also using 3rd party software. Does it matter in PvE? Not really. Does it make a difference in PvP? It might, so software that gives the user an advantage should not be used. If there are just the umbrella terms they use now, it’s hard to complain about individual cases when they do get banned by arguing “but that player uses [software X], and he didn’t get banned!”, and it means Anet don’t have to check and approve (or ban) every single possible 3rd party app out there.
And for the record, it’s you who assumes that OP and his friends wanted to “actively ruin” somebody else’s experience. I’m sorry I still believe in human decency -.-
So Decency is to set requirements for others to follow that you don’t yourself?
ANET officially supports this behavior, unfortunately. Many of us disagree with them, but they actively promote griefing, trolling, stealing of instances, etc etc.
And pray tell how they do that? Dont they have multiple reaponses about this very thing? An that you should report? Werent they working on changing the kick system to help deter these things from happening?
Just because you dont feel they have, or are, taking action doesnt mean they arent,
I think it’s fair to say the red posts here have seemed poor, inadequate, and even forced. I think the period for benefit of the doubt is long gone for ANet when it comes to this matter.

They changed the dungeon owner system so the owner has no protection against this behavior.
They said (then later backtracked) that if you get kicked after using the lfg it’s on you and they can’t do anything about it.
They automate responses to requests you put in reporting griefers without reading the report.
IOW they support this kind of behavior because it promotes guilds being social and dungeon sellers being skewered.

They “attempted” to change it while they knew full well it wouldn’t work. They posted that it couldn’t simply be fixed by changing a value and needed a lot of work. They then tried to change a single value and fix it, shortly after posting that attempted change they deleted it and acted like it never happened while they still refuse to give it the coding time it requires. It’s pretty safe to say that they don’t care enough to devote any time to it. Whether they support it or not, I’d imagine they don’t, but they surely don’t care enough to fix it.

IMO on Ele is a profession you should play with your weapon swap tab open. By that i mean either inventory or hero tab. Before run try to be in earth, swap staff do the swiftness rotation, then swap back to scepter/dagger and you can RtL through. Alternatively if you don’t want to utilize earth for the extra blast with staff you can just do air thing, and swap the focus in and have earth ready to swap for invuln. Not a huge fan of scepter myself, I usually go D/F for PUGs… though I’ll swap S/D→F→D/F might rotation if I have time to before fights. Ele is no easy profession in PUGs because of the frantic and unorganized movements random people make. Lots of people have this expectation that things will simply happen, not realizing that giving you a couple seconds would make your life far easier, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten stuck in the wrong weapon because I’m trying to be beneificial to my group by stacking might/swiftness before a fight/run… that said I’m no great Ele obviously, but I try, I just rarely get people who are willing to give me the few seconds to make it happen.
not exactly spectacular, but today i helped some under 80s do a couple runs. im definitely no expert, we wiped a few times by faults of mine. it felt pretty good though to help out.
hi everyone,
is there anyone out there would like to have a highly interested and motivated student to teach them, well i’m perfectly honest, anything regarding the current dungeon meta (practical, im trying to study guides every day)?
i have meta friendly geared warrior (full ascended), mesmer, guard and thief – mostly experienced with mesmer and warrior (about 3k hours since headstart), tho i prefer warrior for unknown encounters til i have learned the enemies attacks and such.
now one may ask why im posting this as a forum thread
i am a member of the mentor/student guild [Noob] and reached out to several mentors (eu general & eu meta —> yes, im on eu :P) but unfortunately i cant seem to find anyone who is actively doing this anymore (im sure everyone has their reasons, im not blaming anyone but myself).
also regarding the ingame lfg tool, mostly you can decide to join a “all welcome” group, which is a great thing but is very limited in what you can learn, or a group with requirements (and i won’t join those, since i respect the description and dont want to intoxicate this group with my inexperience :>).
if you know any other possibility to get in touch with s.o. who would like to this to a certain extent please let me know…
for voice communication, i dont know how fluent i can talk since english isnt my primary language but im sure it will work out so if anyone is interested in this pleeeease contact me ingame, im pretty much online from dawn til’ dusk (lame reference to a movie i like) since i dont have much to do the next weeks.
except that i should study university stuff, but gw2dungeons.com is so much more interesting.

They tried, again and again, this failing method, instead of just fighting the boss out in the big open room, which seems to be what was originally intended by the developer.

best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base.”
Pre-launch, Colin listed things that make MMOs bad. They are all now in GW2.
Point remains that you’re demonizing and generalizing an entire group because of some kittenes. These kittenes aren’t only in the dungeons though, the amount of negativity in map chats anywhere there is a good loot farm is just insane. “kittening idiots, you’re supposed to let this event fail, god learn how to play!” Should I read that and assume the entire open world PVE community is nothing but a bunch of kittens?
Yumiko, I’m not sure what that has to do with this thread, but I’m still waiting for the info on your anti-meta guild ;-)
Did you make a post in the guild forum yet? I’m more than willing to refer similar-minded players to your PHIW guild — I think it would really help cut down on the stacking-QQ on this forum if we could help those players find others with similar interests.
gg, Anet, no re.
So if I need one laurel to get my ascended weapon done I may end up wait for few more days, because you know… ascended crafting is not time-gated at all already.
Does anyone in Anet ever think how “a change” would affect the rest of the game? But from what I’ve seen for 2 years- nope..nobody is able to think. This is like 4th or 5th iteration of daily system, I never had issues with it until now.
If you really wanted to give us better rewards you could just add them to the existing system. But nooo, you have to make overly complicated system(not in the good way). And of course it’s not for our own good. All you care is the gem store, so you try so hard to make people log-in everyday and hope they see an item they want even if they don’t need it.
Thanks for making the game even more grindy.
Also I’m calling it now – chance to get laurels from BL chest!
Guess which game’s expansion I will buy?

Thats a problem caused by the content. It has little to do with the build/gear system.

Pls no. We might need him to run CM. We care about CM.
Now, if we can get a Scarlet pull string doll backpack.
I kind of like those thread now, they help expand my block list, this way I make sure I’ll never have to play with one of those anti-stacking anti-meta players.
viable =/= optimal. You’re obviously not experienced enough to comment on the game pve balance.
3)This is false. A lot of times i make these sorts of posts and people do join up with the right classes.
If they don’t – you kick and move on.Just because in your experience, something didn’t happen, that doesn’t mean it is false. I’m basing what I said on my observations, and I’ve often seen groups looking for specific classes filled with completely different classes to the ones they are looking for. That much is certainly true and I’m sure you’d also notice similar cases yourself if you just took a look through the LFG system.
So why not just kick them? How is it a problem?
I LFG for a Guardian. A mesmer joins. I kick him – no problem.
It’s rather: I lfg for a guardian. Several upleveled rangers join. A warrior with dolyak signet enters and spam me because I kick him. A guard enters with a staff and proceed to wipe at the first trash, then leave. I lfg again, get a few upleveled joining and quitting without a word. I get a few eles. Some random joins and asks for a taxi for the fgs farm. Necro joins. A guard come, ping condi gear. At this point, 2 of the pugs I had quitted because they kept dying. I lfg for “zerk, meta”, etc. I get full ptv guys not speaking english. At this point the dungeon is done and I don’t bother.
Hello everyone.
As the title says, I came back to GW2 after about 13 months now and I really need some things explained.
My Warrior is currently lvl35, waiting outside the entrance to the Ascalonian Catacombs with another 50 or so other players, wondering how to do exploration runs without messing up everything. I didn’t join an exploration run yet, I’m making this topic before doing something that’ll get me hated.
Since I’m a low level how do I choose a fitting group in the group finder? Most groups are lvl80 and have details such as “zerker only”, “exp zerk”, “3k/5k/7k AP zerk” and so on. Could someone, please, explain to me what any of this means?
Thanks!
Zerker is the term for DPS meta that most of us are running.
Exp = Experienced, basking having ran it enough to know which bosses spawn and how to deal with them.
AP is for your total Achievement points. It is just some silly way that people think they can determine skill. Personally I don’t go so much off the AP thing, since I rarely bother to hunt them up myself and I consider myself pretty skilled.
That aside, what you should think about is:
If you want to try the Dungeon at 35: You can do it, but your gonna be in for a little harder time, as opposed if you did it at level 80 with better gear and traits. (I have heard players say that hey will never do a dungeon again, because is so hard. I can only assume most went in at the lower level, but I don’t know for sure)
While it is possible you might run AC at the level your warrior currently is. Its alot less likely if you try to join one of those groups. Because all the ones you are listing here are there for a fast run just to get the gold at the end. (Not a bad thing, but your not quite ready for a speed run yet)
Now you could make your own group listing it as “Un-experienced Player, first try, need some help/Want to have fun” You will find, there will be people who will be happy to join and help you through. And explain how the dungeon works.
If you just want some personal knowledge about the exploreabe paths in the dungeon you can look at the Wiki Site. Or better yet try some of the video and written guilds (gw2dungeons.net) that people have put out. Keep in mind that if your watching a Record speed clear video you might get confused and think that the boss is alot easier then it is, because of how good the team doing the video was.
Path 1 and 3 are the most common in AC, (but I usually try to knock out all three if I can), because the NPC in path two has a tendency to bug out on us now and then.
Hope this helps. And I see this is your first post. Welcome to the forums.
, only with good players.
