Because both Necro and Warrior have much worse defensive/restorative capabilities than Ele and Guardian.

Name 3 defensive/restorative skills that the Elementalist has. I have an 80 Elementalist and I sure can’t name that many.

I’m entirely positive you’re trolling, but for the sake of helping the community here are a few Ele skills that qualify as “defensive” or “restorative”:

Staff
Geyser
Healing Rain
Gust
Static Field
Magnetic Aura
Unsteady Ground

Scepter
Water Trident
Blinding Flash
Rock Barrier
Dust Devil

Dagger
mainhand
Cone of Cold
Shocking Aura
offhand
Frost Aura
Updraft

Focus
Fire Shield
Swirling Winds
Gale
Magnetic Wave
Obsidian flesh

Utilities
Arcane Shield
Armor of Earth
Mist Form
Conjure: Earth Shield

Hey, everyone. We’ve been reading all your feedback about the Flamekissed Armor Skin that was released into the Gem Store yesterday.

Although the Flamekissed Armor uses the same mesh as the Tier 3 Human Cultural Armor, it was not our intention to create an armor skin that so closely matched the existing Tier 3 Human Cultural armor set. The intention was to use the mesh as a basis for creating an armor set that stands apart and is distinct in appearance. However, after reading your feedback, we agree that the Flamekissed armor is not visually distinct enough from Human Cultural Tier 3 armor.

We will do a few things to address this issue.

  • We will temporarily remove Flamekissed Armor Skin from the Gem Store.
  • Players who have purchased Flamekissed Armor Skin will keep the skin.
  • We will make new art for the Flamekissed Armor Skin that achieves our goal of making a visually distinct and attractive armor set and does not closely resemble the Human Tier 3 Cultural armor.
  • Once this new artwork is completed, we will then update the Flamekissed Armor Skin so that all existing sets that players have purchased get the new art. We will also offer the Flamekissed Armor Skin for sale again at that time.
  • When we update the Flamekissed Armor Skins with the new artwork, any player that has already purchased the set and who does not like the new, updated look, can get a full refund by contacting Customer Support.

Note that there is no ETA on when this change will happen. We need to work with the Character Art Team to determine when we can have a new armor skin ready, and this could take some time.

Thank you everyone for providing your feedback. We appreciate that you took the time to let us know how you feel about the new armor set.

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU REGINA <3
I could never have hoped a better response, not even in my wildest dreams!

as I wrote previously
“(I have been paying them monthly for gems because I loved what they do and how they listen us, respect us and respond to us)”

If this fix really happens, I will most gladly continue my loving support as a paying customer to you!

To be honest I do not know a company which better listens to its community. I know it can be seriously hard sometimes when everyone has something more or less important to complain about. And I often feel sorry for that you need to read a lot of needless and non-constructive aggressive feedback. That’s why I have been staying away from the forums before, But this really was an issue that conflicted with the core idea of the game (visual progression). *And with your quick and unbelievably respectful response you have my respect (and continuing support) back! *

Love <3

(Somewhat related) There is a plan to allow people to playback cinematics through some sort of story UI. This should help people catch up on what they missed.

I know I post this a few times, but I figure since it keeps being brought up in terms of replaying cinematics / living story then I might as well post it again.

I have an old Suggestions post that had a concept of replaying cinematics and this thread has an image of the Marjory Journal in question. If it doesn’t show up in the expanded “My Story” that I have posted, it would be nice to see a Living Story tab added to the list. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/My-Story-Expanded-Living-Story-Concept/

Bottom line is that any ability of replaying the Living Story and seeing what has happened is a great addition. I attached the concept I created with Marjory in case you didn’t want to hop threads.

There are some pretty exciting cinematics coming in the future…I hope you guys will receive them as well as the Fractals piece.

I just hope that if/when you add more cinematics to the game you will take care and make them

(a) not pop up in the middle of a fight / action sequence causing you to die instantly when the cinematic ends (*cough*volcanic fractal*cough*)
(b) be skippable so we don’t have to wait 5 minutes for Mrs. Lionguard to explain to Caithe how much help they need dealing with lolscarlet over and over and over again.

(a) I cant answer this as it is a design issue with our scripting system. The cinematics team only handles a few of the flyby-camera-style cinematics. I can take a look at this-
(b) all our cinematics have the ability to be skip-able. Sometimes someone forgets to flag a cinematic as skippable :0

When a scene is scripted out there may be triggers that NEED to happen in order for a set of events to play out the way they were meant to be. If we allow players to skip this type of cinematic, then it can unravel scene, spawns, and such. I’d love to have a fix for this…but players may have to bare with it for the time being. I feel your pain.

Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Here are some “behind the scenes” facts about this cinematic:

The cinematic was built as a prototype for the new video playback technology.

It was made over a year ago, and we planned to launch it with the original Fractal release. Unfortunately, the tech didn’t get implemented in time and we missed the release window. It was decided that we sit on the cinematic trailer until there was a big update to the Fractals.

The 3D character models are (pre)rendered in-engine with our model viewer and matched up with cameras in Maya and After Effects.

While I have special place in my heart for the original GW2 in-engine cinematics (such as the Dugneon Catacombs flashback…a cinematic that I reworked 4 times over the course of development) These new types of pre-rendered videos allow us to work faster, increase the quality, and they perform better on more peoples machines.

There are some pretty exciting cinematics coming in the future…I hope you guys will receive them as well as the Fractals piece.

Thanks again!

My advise, my truest advise which netted me a quite respectable amount of gold wile still remaining non-boring and repetitive? Do NOT do champion chains. Not only are they beyond boring, mind numbing, slightly nerfed (recently), repetitive, fun-sucking, highly profitable still, but they will make sure you become “greedy” and every content you do from then on will be compared to “time vs gold” ratio and how you could have been on that champion chain making 3 times the amount of money you are making by helping friends or doing other non-gold-profit stuff.

Dungeons is BY FAR the best answer. Get a group of friends ( I made around 3-4 Dungeon friends who do dungeons on regular basis and we call eachother out before doing dungeons as our to-go guys, resorting to pug for the rest of the group.) It will increase exponetially the fun, but give you friends, ensure the group is “geared” and knows its stuff, knows your style, you know their style, might even team on some voice-chat.

As for gold, dont worry to much for it, it comes the better when you are not going for it.

But do dungeons; dungeons that you find fun! (AC , love blue. HoTW love snow and winter-oriented maps. SE; i HATE dredges, cant wait to kill some more in the bunchs)

That’s good, Palador. Someone needs to warn the public about the risks, and remind them what a mess they leave behind for others to clean up.

It’s a nice outfit, I have to admit I was looking at the picture for a while before I saw the rock.

Ironically, the rate of ships crashing into the rock has gone up since that blasted siren has taken up position there.

Something must be done here!

I assure you, something has indeed been done about the Diverse Ledges diving point.

There is a spot in the middle of the Lion’s Arch harbor where a rock lies submerged just below the surface. This is a hazard to navigation, and there is no warning buoy. I am doing my job as a concerned citizen, standing out there waving off ships until the city engineers can either remove the rock or put up a warning.

In the meanwhile, it is getting dark. Could someone please bring out a light, and perhaps a sandwich as well?

Of all things you could have addressed with Elementalists … I really don’t understand why you picked the things you did to meddle with.

If you wanted to actually help Elementalist you could have addressed some of our long outstanding questions:

1. Why is Balance Stance a 40 second cooldown / 8 second duration on a high armor/high hitpoint class, but Armor of Earth is a 90 second cooldown / 6 second duration on Elementalist?

2. Why does Lingering Elements not affect all attunement dependant abilities such as Piercing Shards and Internal Fire

3. Why hasn’t Zephyr’s Speed and Windborne Dagger been replaced with traits that would be useful? You nerfed One With Air (something people actually used) and left us with their broken and unwanted cousins.

4. Why is ANet so aggressively pushing Burning on a class that, as designed, is not a condition class. If Burning was power based, I could understand … but stacking burning when its only doing a few hundred a tick is asanine.

5. When are the focus and scepter issues going to be addressed? You acknowledged the issues with both since the end of Closed Beta and still nothing has been done. The only benefit/advantage that elementalist has is the fact it has access to more abilities than other classes … so none of them should be lackluster. Example: Shatterstone.

6. With nerfed Mobility, gutted Healing abilities, and the 5 player AE cap … how does ANet justify the low hitpoints/armor that the class was given back in alpha/closed beta? Look at the other low hitpoint classes: Guardian, Thief, Elementalist … which is doing the worst (especially in sPvP)? Look at the other low armor classes: Necromancer, Mesmer, Elementalist … same question as before? Don’t you feel that the drawbacks given to the class have should be reviewed given that you have abandoned the reasoning for them in the first place back before release? It isn’t like other classes aren’t doing the same damage output at Elementalists with far more survivability.

I would also like some clarification on two points that on the surface look completely hypocritical.

1. Why was RTL nerfed and Warriors, Rogues, and Thieves are allowed to do the very thing you deemed improper for elementalists to do in your game?

2. Why are you thinking of moving Vigor on crit to 20 points in Arcane when you give it to both Guardians and Mesmers for a 5 point investment?

80 Elementalist (RotV), 80 Mesmer (RotV)
80 Necromancer (IRNY), 80 Guardian (IRNY)

Elementalist:

  • Water V – Cleansing Wave. Moved to Master tier.
  • Arcane V – Elemental Attunement. Moved to Master tier.

While I don’t mind most of the changes these two really bug me. All these two changes are going to do is make it more difficult for elementalists to spec defensively by forcing us to now chose between cantrip mastery and cleansing wave (the obvious choice being cantrip mastery) and to chose between elemental attunement and renewing stamina. Moving water 5 is just nerfing condition removal in defensive trait set ups which doesn’t seem like the right thing to do during the condition meta. Moving Elemental Attuenment to master is even more worrying for me.

These changes are only going to weaken my current (0/30/0/20/20) S/D fresh air build (Which I use for WvW roaming) by forcing me to use inferior defensive traits in the adept slots when it is already quite difficult to survive, especially against condition builds. Now my current S/D build will have less condition removal (now only water skill 5 and ether renewal) and if I want to keep Ele Attunement (which I like for the protection and swiftness) I will have to use vigorous scepter giving me only half of my current endurance regen bonus in combat. Fresh Air S/D is already inferior to D/D for roaming.

Additionally, if increasing elementalist build diversity is a goal, I would recommend finally getting around to buffing the focus. Currently, half of its skills are underpowered or useless (Particularly the water and fire skills). Fire and water skill 4 are particularly bad. Its powerful defensive skills don’t make up for it’s lack of damage and mobility. It would be nice to see S/F and D/F be viable weapon combinations.

Also, one of the major problems with the stoneflesh minor earth trait is that, unlike soothing mist, it doesn’t work with lingering attunements. It’s the fact that this trait only really benefits players that camp in earth attunement that limits its usefulness. It might even be good to give it a lingering effect like soothing mist.

Nerfed Champ Bags/Boxes ?

Really, the champ farming was driving up the prices of gems, making it so that those who don’t farm look at a steadily increasing price over the past few months. Look at this chart:

http://www.gw2spidy.com/gem

Zoom it out to see the price for all time. Notice how for most of the game, 100 gems was steady over time, with a couple bump ups. And now the price is raising in a linear fashion.

When you get 8gp/hr doing something boring and skilless, but doing something fun that requires skill gets you not even 10% of that, those who are looking to have some fun are forced to ignore the gem store completely, because each day they are making comparatively less gems.

I want gold to actually be worth something…and having less of it enter the system is a way to make that work.

I’d have been happier of the cash rewards scaled with the level of the guys you were facing. But you know, I’ve run the zerg train in Queensdale and Frostgorge and it’s not that much more difficult in Frostgorge. If you’re with a zerg, it’s trivially easy.

So the question remains, why are people being rewarded for easy content?

So the question remains, why are people being rewarded for easy content?

Is there a reason they shouldn’t be?

I think the concept most people talk about is risk vs reward. If the most rewarding thing in the game is easiest, that’s what people will gravitate too. I don’t particularly think that’s good for a game.

Rewards should be for accomplishing something, not running around doing something that is so simple it can’t fail…particularly if doing it that way cuts off normal play for other people attempting to just enjoy the game without a zerg coming and taking down a champion in two seconds.

I try to think of it from the point of view of someone who buys the game and starts off a human charcter and runs into Queensdale. And they see a champion…but they can’t get enough hits on it to get any credit because the zerg mowed it down. People are calling out stuff in map chat and instead of playing the game the way Anet originally intended, someone in map chat tells them about zerg farming. So now, this person who has no real chance to experience the game is running around with a zerg. They could, in theory, completely level to 80 without leaving Queensdale.

They’ll never get better at the game that way. Never learn their profession. Never be prepared for anything that happens later…then they’ll come to the forums and complain the game is too hard.

The idea in most games is that the reward you get should be directly proportional to the time/risk factor. If it’s not, the game is out of balance, and will eventually suffer for it.

And I got to finish meta events around the world which are FUN and rewarding if you finish it to the end. (Especially the meta event chain on Harathi Hinterlands, where the final boss is against an epic Modniir boss that gives rares and a bomus chest. He had us fighting summons, and by the end, we were happy.) So I hope this means we get more people spreading about the vast world of Tyria.

Anet doesn’t hate farming. They hate farming that awards negative play and game values.

The champ train did that as evidence in Queendale map chat at the sheer negativity between those that train and those that don’t and new players that are lead away from the real game and led to believe champ farming is the only way to play GW 2 while missing out on the true experience and exploration that GW 2 offers.

I still haven’t been able to get a good honest group for Arah paths 1-4 (LFG is not used or even looked at by others) because no one does it in favor of the easy life style of champ farming. Between playing the TP and the champ farms, I have nothing else to do for money.I already realize its bad behavior, but if you can’t beat them, join them right?

I’ll talk about elementalist since I’ve been playing it since beta.

The things I will mention are the things I disagree with, everything els is fine.

  • Water V – Cleansing Wave: It’s one of the very few condition removals an elementalist has. And for it to be effective he still has to put a lot of points into arcana for it to be good. Even after the buff to the elemental cooldown it would mean you can only remove 1 condition every 13 seconds. Which is not extremly great for a master tier trait.
  • Arcane V – Elemental Attunement and Arcane VI – Renewing Stamina: Yes 1 should be moved to a master tier but not both, each one of those traits are almost an essence to have on an elementalist. My suggestion would be to put Arcane VI into the master trait, that way elementalists still have the choice to pick between a slightly less effective endurance regen traits such as Arcane VII ( vigorous scepter ) if they would only put 10 points into arcana.
  • Earth VII: I would honestly put this into the adept trait tier. Elementalist has very little ways to deal condition damage, for it to work they have to stack into toughness for it to be effective, meaning they would lack a lot into vitality and other departments. There are a lot of better traits to take into earth and personaly I would never take that trait, not even if it was in the adept trait line.

Small thing about reducing the elemental cooldown. I like this idea a lot, it will open a lot of build diversity for sure but there is still one big main issue in arcana. And that is evasive arcana. It gives INSANLY a lot for being 1 trait, it gives me every 10 second a 1.3k heal and removing 1 condition, A blast finisher, 5 second burning, and a blind (not that great but still)

Personally I wouldn’t know how to solve this since it’s an extremely important trait and without it an elementalist probably wouldn’t be viable anymore. It needs to be a grand master trait but somehow reworked that you’re not forced to spend 30 points into arcana. maybe put it into a different trait line? Although I wouldn’t know exactly which one. I would like to know how other elementalist think about this.

Missing social interaction in GW2

No real reason to chat in GW2 it seems being you don’t need other class help. Nor do you have to chat about specs or armor and such as there is not much variety. In other MMOs it was nice to talk about different specs and armor enchantments and where loot was obtained as well as make friends of various classes for help. None of this is needed in GW2 and it’s just a very very simple linear MMO.

I think you’re confusing two different aspects of armor specs.

In GW2 there are not many tiers – you won’t need to upgrade to more powerful armor many times (probably only once or twice at level 80, depending on if you want to get ascended armor when it comes out).

But there are many different stat combinations your armor can have. At level 80 every piece of armor gives boosts to 3 different stats, in addition to it’s defense rating. On top of that each piece can be upgraded with a wide range of items that can boost up to 3 additional stats or give extra effects.

There are a huge number of ways they can be combined, and even more when you factor your trait points into it (which also boost your stats, so you should really consider the two together). Obviously not every possible combination results in a viable build, but there are a lot that do.

If you think no one ever discusses stats or armor specs in this game, or that there’s no reason to do so, I strongly recommend checking out the build discussions in the various professions sections of the forum.

Likewise I think you’ve misunderstood the lack of trinity. You don’t need specific classes to help – you will never be stuck waiting to do a dungeon because you can’t do it without an elementalist and everyone there is playing guardians and warriors for example. But there is content that can’t be done alone – dungeons in particular (and obviously WvW and sPvP) but also some open-world events. People can and do play together in groups on a regular basis. Even some stuff that can be done alone is better with other people around and people will often group up for it. Either literally by using the group function or simply by agreeing to work together.

Try every proffesion, race is a personal choice, has no real effect on game play

No one can honestly tell you what to play, every class has the same core guiding principles, making any of them good in the right hands. And I don’t think having someone tell u what to play, how to play it and what exact skills u should use to be enjoyable.

Your going to have to find that out for yourself,
Tip, for me personally I got every class to level 30, then played around with all of them until I was just always logging onto my Mesmer without realizing it.
Thus, I found a class of my own.

If u don’t enjoy playing it, well for one it will suck, and for two you wont be AS good as if u were loving every minute of it.
If that sounds too tedious, or time consuming, Narrow it down based on Caster/Melee/Ranger or Light/Med/Heavy armor.
Thatl give u a start!
but keep in mind, Every patch changed something, so just because a Zerker Warrior is king of DpS at the moment (<- not saying that’s true) doesn’t mean it will be when u finally get to 80, geared, and set up to go. Every class is going to be OP or Nerfed as some points.

AND everyone has their own opinions, don’t keep everything someone says about a class to heart, usually they just got owned by that class in PvP or wiped in PvE and are in fact raging.

Basic point of all this rambling is, Your going to have to find it yourself, no matter what anyone says, no one can play that class for you.

Enjoy it, Learn it, Master it.

Currently, the only way to change a hair accessory color is via a makeover kit. Not sure if this intentional or not, but it currently costs 350 gems (~$4.40 USD) to be able to do that. I can understand paying that to want to do a complete makeover, but just to be able to change your accessory color is a little high.

I suggest adding the accessory to the Dye Mode available via the character panel.
