@ Deso Morning Squads: Guys if you’re in the 7am krewe is it really necessary to laugh at the few defenders actually around? Totally unnecessary and bad sportsmanship to boot. You are better than that.

@ Demetrodon: GL coverage spans a minimum of 21 hours, some like the great Vizunah have close to 24 hour coverage. You’ve faced off against us twice now? Can you imagine a tougher situation going on for months? That’s what Deso faced, this is what we’ve become. Adapt or die as they say.

Adapt or die you say. Seems to me Desolation didn’t adapt as good then since your Desolation now are in Silver league, or am I missing something?

Listen I’m not going to troll, Desolation adapted during the period in Gold League, we weren’t always a coverage server. History lessons aside we continue to adapt, every server should.

Unfortunately prior to the league starting lower tier servers didn’t need coverage as many were playing purely for the good fights in prime time. Contrary to what many of you believe, we, as individuals, and as members of our server community, do enjoy good fights, however asking our comrades from time zones closer to the sun to not play is unreasonable.

Every serious WvW player on Desolation will tell you we are not good enough for Gold League, so you are correct, we are in Silver League, yet we are undefeated, so indeed you are missing something.

Until either ArenaNet changes how PPT and 24/7 WvWvW works, or our opponents improve their coverage, Desolation will remain the same, but hey, it’s not so bad, everybody loves to hate somebody.

Not entirely sure if I should defend Desolation or not, as this discussion is rather pointless. However, I’ll still give it a shot. I’ll be straight down the line here, you decide what you make of it in the end.

As I took the lead and struggled to revive the server and rally the guilds, you could say I know what happend and how it happend. What happend to Desolation? Did we tank the Silver League? Far from it. A couple of weeks before the League kicked off, we lost major forces again for the third time. A very important Guild called [DVG] who was in charge of training friendlies and rallying them on the field decided to leave for Piken. We lost most of our good skilled friendlies due that. Though, other Guilds started leaving left to right who played an important role in Desolation too such as [Coin] and [AFTL]. All these Guilds grew tired of the unstable server Desolation has always been and left to seek more security on a well established server. This left us in the end with 5 key WvW Guilds at the time: [GoD] [INVI] [TLA] [CS] and [EXG]. Our activity was low, friendlies were gone and we had enough people to just fill 1,5 map during prime (not even talking about off-hours or night time even).

If those Guilds leaving was not enough, other servers had a mission to take down Desolation completely and started DDOSing our Community TeamSpeak server, website and forums which were down for nearly 2 weeks. The end of the server was near, confusion and doubts.

From this moment onwards, we had to be realistic. We knew what Vizunah was all about. Most of those Guilds who remained were active during that era and pretty much did not want to get stomped once again. Therefore we decided to get into Silver League. Did we had to do an effort to drop down? Not at all. Our poor numbers took care of that and eventually we dropped and ended in Silver.

Truth be told, as everyone knows, Desolation has been famous for it’s great and strong PVE Community. Sure, I knew those guys would hit WvW but the impact it truly had was beyond my imagination. The amount of numbers we received was crazy. With this, Ins started a brand new WvW Guild to train and welcome the new guys and thus, they tended to stick to WvW where Desolation crawled back up from a third time close to Free Fall and shined bright like a diamond once again.

I understand that there are servers out there who cannot fight the coverage Desolation puts out. Though, there are always ways to fight against it. We did it against Vizunah back in time with only 1/4 of our numbers. Sure, Coverage is important but having brains is king. Be creative, challenge yourself and you can get there.

Im not asking for sympathy or trying to pity myself for what happend. However, I do care about the pointless discussion other guilds bring up which I used to respect. Quite sad.

The borders appear empty when you do a guild run, because the blob you run with is the size of the entire population of vabbi. By now everybody has realized that you’ll leave anyway once you’re wxp ratio drops or someone fights back. So they simply wait and recap it afterwards.

Tag might not be the best guild in the game, but they run without their entire server and they always came back to fight again, no matter how badly they got beaten. They got the attitude of a true guild, not a karma train.

He already did like that before. We had an entertaining argument, but when he ran out of arguments, he actually challenged me for a duel to prove he’s right (sic!). Unfortunately, before I got home from work, 2 or 3 of my guildees already found him and beat in 1v1, so I never heard a word from him in-game

If you want to fight a guild from BT, I think you’re better asking SHN – afair they were GvGing CC from our server (and will also most likely give you better fight )

I’m guessing we all have fun playing wvw (well unless someone is forced to:P) otherwise we woudn’t do that.
Seems like we have have bigger numbers in this matchup and it comes with all the pros and cons. More players – more randoms. The best results you get with smaller better organized group, and it is really awesome how those can sometimes destroy much bigger groups. Some really nice actions from FoW and Vabbi, good job

Now there is no reason to argue over player skill on forum – if blacktide is winning this matchup it doesnt mean that we are most skilled players. If fow/vabbi can put some well organized guild/group and destroy our random zerg lemmings running carelessly and trying to cap everything it is good for them, but it doesn’t mean that vabbi/fow players are more skilled than blacktide. It is just how things works

Now lets continue on doing our things and have fun in wvw. Im sure I will have lots of fun fighting and killing you guys and I’m quite sure aswell I will get killed by one of your organized group because I will run in big group and not pay enough attention

Just stop with the nonsense “double teaming” alrdy. Our towers are paper alrdy so they use it to their advantage for easy PPT. Nothing else. Is it really so hard to understand or are you just picking a fight?

Oh my god, from a deso player, please stop crying about double teaming. It’s a three way free for all, double teaming is inevitable, especially when you are the strongest server in the match. Take it as a compliment that they feel the need to tag team us like that, personally I think it gives us the greatest challenge because at least this week we will have to fight if we want to win. Not like other weeks where the match is decided Saturday morning.

Lets clear some things up here, without me going back through thread for endless quotes:

1. Someone said about most of the major guild groups are talking about an alliance.
Not true, most of the major guild groups on FSP could care who wins and are mainly happy to be getting good fights,(though if there are the odd ppl/guilds who think this is a good idea it won’t be enough people to make a difference in regards to an alliance).

2. Deso are not an all round strong server.
This point i am making in regards to EU prime time, we have faced much stronger prime time than Deso in this league including midday (certain times of day they are pretty weak, in comparison to what them and us see them as), so my conclusion is that they are middle silver league material prime time, and have a bottom gold league night/morning crews. However, throughout the leagues Gandara is getting stronger each match up, an will certainly try and match Deso’s coverage, and may succeed, but not with the help of FSP, so if Gandara does beat Deso they achieved it on their own.

3. I am not pointing fingers at a whole server.
But the few Deso on this forum that claim that their guild is an unstoppable machine or others bragging of how boring this match is, or how we are all walking loot bags etc etc. 1 phrase “Kettle, black” spring to mind? if your guild is unstoppable its down to numbers if it’s even number u go down just as slow or fast as the next man and his dog. If we cant physically match ur numbers as an organised guild/zerg/blob then tough kitten on us, but in no way does it make u better.
In regards to loot bags, you may be very surprised to know that when we kill u, u also drop loot bags. There isn’t a bug that deny’s Deso’s opposition loot bags on a kill, u drop loot like every player. I wouldn’t lie to u there I swear to god Deso does drop loot.
This matchup boring? I bet you just come off the banana boat? yes we may not have ur coverage(but who cares i certainly dont), but I play EU prime and im here for the fights, we match u prime time in awesome fights and give as good as we get, if u don’t play EU prime time ur kittening problem, u want better fights out of hours go bandwagon a gold league server to fulfill your needs.

We are NOT a walk in the park, we give u a struggle and good fights prime time u go to bed wake up next day and ur night/morning crew has boosted ur PPT, whoopy kittening doo you night cap morning cap, i couldn’t give a kitten, but don’t put down a server because u do something they cant. Although I stand by my word in saying that I don’t care for the points that much. What I do care about is Deso (individuals not whole server) coming on forum and flaunting how weak they think we are. Take into consideration 2 weeks before the leagues started we scraped ourselves out of bronze league status and now facing a server with bottom gold league coverage, you must take some pride in beating ur chests about that one. We hold our ground as much as we can, and hit hard, and to put us down for doing that shame on you.

I say again in no way am I labeling a whole server, just individuals who do truly think that they are Gods Walking Amongst Mere Mortals.

Let me start by expressing my gratitude. In a world of polite matchup threads full of happy campers, your condescending tone is refreshing.
However, you seem to under a wrong impression. Being last (and having been for such a long time) isn’t a horrible fate. Being stuck on a server in the low 20 ranks that personifies mediocrity and pettiness – now that’s something i don’t envy anybody for.

A lot of people here are refugess from the glorious “normal wvw”. Continue to stack on your commander and blast fire fields, only to see all of it crumble once you meet a server with more numbers or a raid guild that actually knows what they are doing.
Continue to karma train with as many people as you can, only to lose an entire borderland to ten people during prime time.
Meanwhile we’ll continue with our abnormal practices, like ignoring commanders, praying to Ham and sodomizing our yaks.

i would pm you, chris, so i would feel like if i was gonna get banned for negative criticism at least you would be the person doing so instead of the mod team, but i cant pm anybody as part of the punishment (?).

so i wont really say anything because i feel like negative feedback is seen as dev bashing by the people in power.

thats the biggest issue i see with the CDI.

What process? All that happened was you guys said “Population imbalance is the most requested issue with WvW, discuss.” Then a lot of people posted ideas, Devon posted questions occasionally, and then closed the thread and said thanks for the input, will use as reference. Population imbalance is still an issue, I still have no idea what Anet plans to do to fix it, or even what direction they are taking. What exactly was accomplished other than fishing for ideas from players, which were already posted on the forums in the first place? How can you review a collaborative development initiation when there was no collaboration or development?

what on earth is CDI? is that California Department of Insurance?

I don’t understand what we are gaining for arguing something as pointless as this, nothing will come out of it. We can’t point guns to people and tell them to stop playing WvW, if they like playing at late night there isn’t anyone who can stop them besides themselves.

Why does this matter anyways, some of my best moments commanding our friendlies was coming online on the mornings and seeing an EB with 0 towers and then through the effort of our fellow players not giving up we would conquer our part of the map and even take SM. Not a single time did I hear these players complain when we thought Viz, we played what we liked and we had a good time doing it. It was only the commanders who would complain about it and I assume the same thing is happening again, most of the people complaining here are from respectable WvW guilds and/or respectable commanders or people in their respectable server, if your fellow players have not given up then please don’t give up yourselves, I’m sure quite a few people look up to you.

As for an alliance between FSP and Gandalf or Deso and Gandalf or Deso and Vizunah or Deso and Bob Saget, if people feel its beneficial to act in some way go for it, if you feel it helps your server go for it its not like the opposing server can do anything about it.

But any ways the bottom line is we play this game to have fun, and in wvw especially have fun, have fun with your guildies while playing it, have fun with your server mates, have fun through your hard times, have fun with your victories and defeats, have fun capping towers and camps, have funs wiping of zergs superior to your own numbers, but all in all, just have fun

Just ended my commanding on eb, took a good 6 hours to build up from where i started.
All was wooden, you guys had a massive focus on us but we kept on going.
Not far in we where fighting you for sm, i have to give it to you guys you defended it very well.

Loved how PunK was jumping in that camp, sorry to steamroll you, even tho in that situation i pointed out in our ts you guys die hard.
I cant go around the fact that on eb, you both have better organisation, but even after the hammering we took, we got up and gave you a fight i hope.

Hats off to you, shame about the double teaming on EB altho I understand why.

Have you even seen how good a Vabbi defense is? It’s stupidly effective as long as they have decent numbers. It’s like those kids who only have one cookie left and they’ll kill you if dare take it from them.

I’d like not to voice my opinion on BT for as long as my temper can handle. So shush. We already have enough QQ, and it’s 70% about losing levels on the fractured sub-forum.

Well, it sure is nice seeing the Devs (or any other employees) playing on MEGA servers (you still die If I see your little tag). Why don’t you ever play on some of the Underdogs in WvW instead of playing only on the winning server matches side Makes you wonder.

I mean it would only be fair to see what its like to get rolled by a 80 to 100 man zerg when you are the rollee and not the roller.

Great double team effort on our keep in EB right now- AM blocking off the spawn while AG is attacking the keep. 40++ AM, full AG blob. neither side attacking anything else anywhere on the whole EB. Don’t bother trying to deny it, lots of screenies taken.

Clear sign that they have agreed to gang up on us- so sad that you have to resort to this rather than try and beat us on your own?

You just lost what little respect I had for AG ankitten ow we know exactly what your servers are made of.

Thats not double team, thats taking advantages, you guys do the same, AM does the same, when we have wooden tier towers, you only bash on us, so does AM, when AM is ticking too high, both of us bash on AM, maybe abit kitteny cause AG stays away from GD towers alot? and today we actually attack. =/

This. Today we reseted Hills and Bay together with AM on Ag bl today. Cause T3 bay/hill is a no no in prime time. We saw Am go for bay and we went hills, then switched, then switched again. No real ganking (except a bit for weekend on EB, u mad?)

No, it wasn’t anything like the same.

Let’s spell it out very clearly. AM camped the EB spawn for over an hour while AG attempted to take the keep directly behind them.

They made no attempt to attack the south gate.

Their only purpose for being there was to prevent Gandara from reinforcing the keep defenders.

They didn’t even try to cap anything else for that hour, only after it was obvious that the keep attack was failing did a small team try and take something of AG’s.

The excuses spouted here for this action are hilarous.

The funniest thing was that 1. you totally failed and 2. you probably caused your server to come third in the match up when you could have capped half the map while AG were busy at our keep.

Try it again tomorrow, we can laugh at you some more:-)

Summoned creature AI is a different can of worms that we aren’t opening for the same reason. Pets that delay F2 use isn’t some wait script we put into their skills it has to do with core AI behavior shared by all pets and creatures and how they decide tasks. Rewriting that has the risks of breaking millions of unknown things so we have up until now band aided the solution. It is something that needs addressing but won’t be addressed until we can kitten how and when we will test it.

Until the pets are properly addressed, and considering you guys want to keep them as core class mechanic, this whole thread is pointless band-aids. Right now you are balancing the class around a broken mechanic likely doing a lot of balance changes that will have to be redone once, if, pets are fixed.

I know I can only speak for myself here but this Ranger couldn’t care less about any of the balances you have proposed, if you fail to deal with the main source of issues for the class. I know it will be hard work and it might break a bunch of stuff, also it’ll be expensive to test. But you know what? I don’t care for excuses. If I read what you say correctly AI changes for pets would involve a lot of AI changes for other mobs. This is great! You should be using the task of improving pet AI to create much improved AI combat experiences across the whole game. Not only could you fix rangers, you could make dungeons more engaging, WvW guards more dangerous, bosses more active etc.

Stop with the band-aid balance solutions and skirting the real issue because it’s harder than your normal balance task. Everyone stands to benefit if you just take this challenge on and frankly some of us are getting pretty tired of waiting.

Way too much grief going on in here, Drakkar thanks for the great matchup been a pleasure to fight you guys. Yes you guys blob like crazy but it works so let the whiners whine. Also I don’t condone spawn camping under any situation, the actions of KISS do not represent the majority of RoS. There are some immature people on both our servers and I hope it doesn’t spoil what has so far been good fun. So yeh much respect to Drakkar and FoW.
