This is a bit disappointing. I can’t say I used the matchup forum a whole lot, but server community forums don’t make a lot of sense to use for the overall matchup discussion (whose community do you use, for a start; then there’s the issue of approving and monitoring a whole load of new users all the time). I also don’t use, nor do I wish to use, reddit – which is not always the kind of ‘safe and productive space’ Anet wish to build here.

Taking action against forum abusers, particularly repeat offenders, is fine, but quashing the whole forum seems counterproductive unless it’s almost literally all made up of bad apples. If it requires a bit more time investment to manage on Anet’s part, well, I’m sure there are plenty of people looking for a job who would be happy to help out!

I never took anyone seriously in the threads. I always found it a good place for entertainment. I don’t think the issue was necessarily the negative posts, I think the issue was the overly aggressive moderators. Some of my most innocent and dopey jokes were removed and infracted. Let your community have some trash talk and aggressive banter, it’s just going to end up in some other subforum if this one is removed….. The problem won’t be solved.

Only matter of time when they extend the censorship to other forums to tone down the negative feedback also. Happens in every mmo forum if there’s enough negative feedback since it’s cheaper to quiet down the forums than to fix the game.

I find it funny how as an engineer (the least played class) im taking advantage of game mechanics if I use a rune set which no doubt is strong but if left out I could get amazing defensive benefits (contemplating Lyssa for example). I never abused the perplexity runes so the nerf didn’t affect my gameplay. Yes the runes might make me kill baddies faster with an extra confusion proc but the simple fact is that good players will not get interrupted easily and better players will kill me.

Also if you find kiting, blinds, blocks and conditions gimmicky gameplay then I don’t know what to say thats what I need to do to win i can’t just spam my autoattack and stand in front of you. THis thread is the same as if I argued that necros are lame to fight against because a condi necro can just transfer all conditions with the press of 1 button or a power necro can just shroud and spam autoattack for hard damage while I keep switching between 3 kits and ground target nades. The classes are different and play different and it breaks monotony. I personally enjoy good hard duels despite the profession or build I’m fighting against.

I don’t think using perplexity runes makes a player worse and I don’t think they make me worse. I play pretty much exactly the same way in spvp with runes of the undead and my results are the same. Like I said I dont like fighting condi necros because i’m at an inherent disadvantage but I still try because well.. have to learn some tricks to fighting them and if i roam I fight what comes up against me. All in all I feel that people still complaining about perplexity have just not managed to play around it and still complain about them when there are clearly bigger balance issues. I also feel that many assume that engineers use perplexity because they got some confusion on them when in fact engineers have kit/weapon skills to apply it which is exactly the reason I don’t feel tied down to the perplexity runes and can swap runes at my liking.

Alt-F4 does nothing. I still get your bag and wxp. In fact, if you alt-F4, you are giving your opponent something better than killing you… they made you quit. They still got everything they would have if you had died (your loot) but now you also have to either stay offline or reconnect, and possibly re-que. That’s way better than a straight up kill. I love it when people [Alt-F4] against me.

Sorry to tell you, but there’s not really any original builds left. Some people fine tune their builds based on personal preference, but the main elements of each build are still there.

Are there builds out there that are possibly too powerful? Yes.

Are there builds that YOUR build won’t be able to counter? Yes.

Are there enemies that are running builds that YOU will counter? Yes.

Are you going to learn anything about the fight if you Alt-F4 from it? No.

People who like obviously, patently, objectively terrible TV shows and such is actually an easily explained phenomenon: this happens when you’ve never seen anything better.

In fact, I think a lot of people know what I’m talking about. If you’ve been staring into the idiot box most of your life and suddenly there’s THAT one film or THAT one book that shows up and makes you you spend the next week crying tears of joy over how good it is, you’re not going back to watching Fat People Farting and Kazakhstan Idol after that.

It should be noted, however, that it’s perfectly possible to like a work that’s otherwise terrible for its few good moments. Whether you know it’s terrible or not.

Scarlet’s, while being butt-uggly and stupid, sports an energetic voice actress and a fun character archetype. While her story and presentation will make many cringe, there’s still something you can like.

It’s, you know, Twilight: horrible in every respect, but at least there’s a hint of Romeo and Juliet somewhere underneath.

lol you still play trapper? i use my sword/horn + axe/torch wvw roaming build and did beat down a trapper + spirit ranger pretty easy in spvp ( my first 3 matches ever yestarday. havent died a single time )

4,293 hours on ranger 4,326 across all characters. All I ever run is trapper all other builds like this one are just crippling ranger they all still suck. Longbow is still horrible dps. Greatsword can’t hit the broadside of a barn. Spirit Ranger is alright but its the most lazy build I have ever witnessed next to signet warriors….Tired of rangers getting on here and lieing and trying to make the greatsword and longbow into somthing their not….they need fixed, bad. Stop trying to make them work on a build its just down right disappointing

I like that we keep this discussion moving but why the heck get off topic? Rangers need to help rangers, if you want to fight over stuff find yourselves in PvP and work it out, but please come back here and tell us why you won… and none of that ‘uh I am uber good uh look at my skills uh’ crap; give us the build and strategy, why it works for you and why we should care.

I really like GS/SB myself, but I never tried 10/30/30 or 5/30/30/0/5 as in ever, but this is a purely condition damage / stun – root lock approach, does it only work in 1 vs 1 situations? What about team play?

Why does arenanet just do their own thing and not listen at all. Rangers don’t like that passive kitten. Yes, there are exceptions but instead of atleast limiting the amount of spirits to the way it is now you even add more?

That being said despite all the changes you did you fail to remove the horrible trait that puts spirit efficiency from 3.5% to 7%. I mean how OBVIOUS can a badly designed trait be. There is no way to limit build variety harder than making stupid adept tier must have traits whenever you run the corresponding utility skill.

This makes me think there is no hope for this game.

Just curious, are a lot of you people that didn’t play WvW exclusively before seasons?

I ask because I did and I have also spent tons of gold on siege and upgrades, spent hours scouting, escorting yaks, and other less “fun” and glorious tasks. The fact that we are getting rewards is a plus but seasons or no seasons people would have been doing this anyways. Example, I got my meta done naturally, the only thing I “farmed” was the JP’s because I would not normally go there.
