In the last question I can’t say revolutionary, it’s an great MMO, but not enough to change how MMO Martket itself is going to be after GW2.
Before launch, there was many saying it will be the future, but now, it’s just a normal MMO, as many others with their own innovations, changes, etc… are coming in a near future.
Mainly because GW2 Promised things as “We don’t want grindy games” and that made alot of people that were tired of it go away when they saw in some recent updates that introduced new things but, more and more Grind to the general game (optional sure, but there isn’t any objectives at endgame for most game, unless we grind for gear).
Asura thing.

This is one of the most pathetic things I have ever heard.
Then you have lived a really sheltered life. if someone posting on a game forum is one of the most pathetic things you have ever heard.
But they are reacting exactly the way anet intended them to. Anet put in this system to reward players to stick to one alt, so what do you expect?
PvP ranks/armor/weapons can be earned no matter what alt you are on.
Dungeon tokens can be earned no matter what alt you are on.
Laurels can be earned no matter what alt you are on.
WvW skill points…nah, character based.
The game used to reward you for playing how you liked to play, and have alts for certain jobs wasn’t penalized, not so much anymore.
Critical Impact [Crit]
I would defy prefer it to be account bound. Enough ranks to last a life time anyways. I remember how alt-friendly this game was but not anymore imo.
Btw, that dev never praised the highest lvl dude but just confirmed that he was the highest ranked player atm. Nothing wrong with that.
Honestly, the patch was more the day that small skirmishes died even more. Blobs/zergs everywhere and it’s getting boring real fast.
Gandara – WvW Warrior
This morning I hopped into EB to discover we were outmanned and with no commander. We held zero objectives and oddly someone had left about 6 omega golems parked at spawn.
So we gathered what troops we could, manned the golems, selected a suitable target…and sat. And sat and sat and sat. You see, there were no mesmers to safely port our golems to the tower and no one wanted to hop on an alt because ranks are character bound. How sad. So we went back to throwing our bodies at the gate because at least we won’t have an armor repair bill (which is actually quite nice).
Please give us player progression and scrap the character progression. It’s player vs player after all.

Well the issue is they need to implement it properly.
People like me, who actually do the PvP dailies/monthlies, got totally screwed by this “bug.” I finished the monthly two days before the patch, so I didn’t get this magical extra ten laurels.
Sure, I’m all for implementing something to incentivize PvP, but do it in a way that doesn’t shaft people who normally do the thing in the first place.
It will sort itself out in a few days. You at least have people playing right now.
PvP needs a healthy group of casuals playing it.

Anyway, do remember FSP do not have the amount of wvw guilds you 2 servers can put out every day. If you expect us to run around with a 30ppl pugzergs while there are 30ppl enemy guildstacks running around you should know better.
While FSP was in the lower tiers we rarely had anything near a blob. We ran in 30ppl zergs + striketeams allover the map, we could do this cause we faced similar pugzergs.
Most of our guilds ran in 10-15ppl groups around the map.

I think it has more to do with saving on bandwidth and lag than anything.
They say they don’t want one ele holding up a zerg, they even talked about nerfing AOE even more…
Kinda makes you wonder what game they’re playing.
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.
Old Anet cashshop :
-Costumes linked to events.
-Those events had new skins, greens and minis available as drops + via tokens earned in the game.
New, Nexon lite cash shop:
-Costumes linked to events
-Those events have little to no rewards (Karkas event) .
-Have to gamble in the cash shop for a new weapon skin token reward (Good boys , buying 50 + keys)
-If skins are craftable , you need a mystic forge recipe that is on par with foefire’s essence mystic forge recipe
-Free weapons are skins no one want (Wintersday weapons)
I couldn’t possibly care less what my character looks like if I tried. After all I like to play MMORPGs and not dress dolls.
You are playing the wrong game.
@ Vayne
Way to generalize. But no I have not seen any game that fits the criteria. I have also never seen any MMO that advertised itself as an eSport outside of GW2.
And to address the misguided vitriol you have against all PvPers, there were players from GW1 that had provided insight so great that even the developers took their advice from time to time. They didn’t care only about “their character,” because that would be silly. They cared about the health of the game itself. Then again there are those selfish players who can’t think outside their biases.
Anywho, getting off topic.
The more people complains the better, hopefully the company listens and start doing something worthwhile. This 4 series patches suck, the storyline blows, wvw progression is bleh at best and pve is still lack lusting.
I wonder how many times these types of posts are made per day.
Does that make them any less valid? Or do you comment with genuine curiosity and agreement with the points made?
Yes, it does make them less valid. Every game that exists and has players get similar posts. The more players, the more complaints.
Well its easy to generalise without identifying specific points. So forgive me if I disagree. It wasn’t a whine post..it was pretty clear that there are legitimate issues with the game. But feel free to be an Ostrich
Disagreeing that your post has merit does not make one an Ostrich.
Virtually everyone who complains feels that THEIR post is “legitimate” and “not a whine” post. Yet the vast majority are. So feeling that way is silly. I liked the update. I felt it was fun and substantial. If you don’t feel the game has been added to a great deal in the last few months, I have no idea what game you are playing, frankly.
Well..“frankly” you’re obviously playing a different one from the rest of us. I would assume you are a lone ranger in the game. Have you talked to other players? I don’t know what server you are on, but on mine, sea of Sorrows, most people I talk to or listen to in general chat or Guild chat or random pugs are UNDERWHELMED.
I’ve never understood why some people take legitimate constructive criticism of the game as a personal attack. If you are personally happy with the current level of updates , then great. But I think you are in the minority imo.
Strange, my server is largely positive about the changes…in map chat anyway. Of course, it’s usually natural for unhappy people to vent and happy people to play anyway. The question is how many people happily playing stop in map chat to say, hey, I’m happily playing.
Most people who stop to say something in map chat are venting. So it’s not a great barometer of how well a patch does.
I thought the patch was fine. Not awe-inspiring by any means, but it was fine for a free content patch. Very few MMOs come out with as much stuff as GW 2 as often and many who try do a much worse job than this.
Try comparing what SWToR did as updates in the first six months, or Rift. Then you can complain. Until then, you’re just asking for something unreasonable.
Ok..irrespective on “content”..how do you feel they have performed regarding profession balance? What profession is your main toon?
I’m not tremendously stressed about profession balance, and you know, most players aren’t. The only real issue is that if you’re not in a guild, and you play a ranger, necro or engie, you might have trouble getting into pugs.
But I play in a guild. I have one of each professions. I’ve done dungeons with my engie and ranger, even a couple of with my necro. Mostly I use my mesmer though.
In the open world, I have no problem with any profession. Engies with the bomb kit, for example, are great for farming. My ranger is pretty kitten survivable in the open world. Engineers and rangers both have some place in PvP as well, as do necros.
So the real thing here we’re talking about is dungeons. That’s it…dungeons. And since my guild has beaten every dungeon with every professions (one of the guys who has the dungeon master title in my guild is a necro), I don’t really see the same problem some of you do.
If you’re playing a profession and having trouble getting into dungeon pugs, join a guild that doesn’t worry about running a dungeon five minutes faster. You’ll be much happier.
I have to agree with you. PvPers, the ones stressed over profession balance, have all but left, so it’s absolutely true that very few of the remaining population would be concerned about balance.
(edited by TwoBit.5903)
Couldn’t agree more with the OP. Blind praise gets you only so far.
If it’s a generally accepted truth that no game is perfect, why not look for the things that keep this game from being better?
@Vayne
It’s not the quantity that matters, it’s the quality. What Guild Wars 1 started with had more structure and soul. The campaign felt more fulfilling to complete than the scattered content you could rush through and ignore in GW2.

See this guy is a PvE’er and even their not happy.. I was kinda thrown when he said Warr’s were top dog.. then I realized he meant PvE and Ive done like a total of 6 dungs total since release.. its a hot mess for sure,
ANET doesnt add content..they want us to spend mone yon gems for lack of balanaced, lack of viable builds proffessions ( barring ele )
I mean I never saw a you tube vid of a D/D ele until last night and I just sat there in amazement at the sheer carnage and survivability this class has the option to unleash.
Multiple fights vs Multiple geared 80’s at same time and they just beat the kitten out of everybody… I’m going to make one too why not… they can tank you kill you or run from you..at the same time
I dont want ele’s nerfed I want other classes brought up but ANET has proven they just dont play these classes theyre balancing.
I’ve never understood why some people take legitimate constructive criticism of the game as a personal attack. If you are personally happy with the current level of updates , then great. But I think you are in the minority imo.
1) Troll 2) Anet marketing department. 3) The most loyal GW2 fans ever.
Take your pick.

I love the game. I love the art, I love the mechanics and I love the fact that they tried to do something different regarding trinity. But as a loyal GW2 gamer and someone who played GW1 for 6 years, I can’t help but feel the last few patches have been utterly underwhelming.
They clearly have some very talented people at ANET. Great artists especially, but the potential and excitement of where the game could go has been worryingly deteriorating at a rapid pace. For me, the last REAL update content wise was fractals. An enjoyable update to the game that kinda gave it a mini raid feel without all the hassle that comes with a classic mmo raid.
Yet since then, what really has been added to the game in any meaningful way? Yes there have been updates to W v w and PvP, but as I rarely participate in those, I feel that the core playerbase of the PVE world has largely been neglected. The rot set in with the Karka event..Ill conceived, bugged and although it introduced a new area, it felt Spartan and unfinished with absolutely NO reason to go there other than a bit of gathering.
The guild bounties etc have also been poorly implemented imo too. What you basically have is guilds sending out members to find said mobs and then after a chore of a search we all gank them and that’s it..Sorry, this is dull as and not immersive in anyway. It’s also no where near as exciting in practise as we were led to believe.
And then we have Flame and Frost. Possibly THE single most underwhelming and pointless update yet. First off..no one cares. Seriously..no one gives a kitten at all. We are not emotionally involved AT AL! I have yet to speak so a single player in game who found the event..if you can call it that..anything other than a chore. It didn’t help by starting off with a main feature on the website, yet all you did was build a few sign posts for a few months. Now after all this build up, we find out the Dredge are involved. Do Anet realise that after the risen, most people hate fighting the dredge?
But mostly, the profession balance. Ordinarily, I really don’t complain about profession tweaking and one class over the other but in GW2’s case, its really really hard to ignore the fact that Rangers are getting screwed over and warriors are top dog. But no one knows why? They really can’t understand it..and who can blame them?
Like I say, its cos I love the game so much and its cos I CARE that im making this post, but I can’t help feeling really disappointed at the direction of the game. I already ditched WOW and SWTOR for this game, and tbh now I’m simply thinking MMO’s are not for me. ANET could do worse than examine the masters of MMO’s..yes Blizzard and really investigate why an 8 year old game still trounces every new mmo release to the market…The simple answer is it listens. And Content..lots of it. They have a brand new 12 boss raid…what do we have?? Banging some fences in the snow and npcs we could care less for…
Really Anet? I respect your artistry, but I really sometimes wonder if you gusy actually paly your own game
I don’t like them very much either but that’s mostly due to the fact that I’m a very mobile fighter and staves are primarily AoE as far as I can tell. In other words a party based DPS weapon not suited for solo play unless you have an aggro magnet.
This is not about giving players who like to gamble something to work for. It’s about Anet taking advantage of those people to line their own pockets.
Gambling addiction is a disability that Anet should not exploit off of.
Playing the game for 46 days (or roughly 1100/24) is not the same as being here the entire time. You talk about ‘wait and see’ when we have.
Sorry to say, the game keeps getting worse. You just need to get out of the honeymoon phase and realize it.
I am posting in response to the OP and those who are interested in what the OP has to say, I quoted someone to make an example.
So I want to make it a point to note that every single game that has an active community on the forums is typically going contain a lot of negativity within said forums. Content creation can never and will never be on par with how quickly it is devoured by the players. People always want more, it’s natural for us. Unfortunately some people are not aware of how development works nor do they understand how some things would affect the games that they play. Most of the time what you see on the forums are selfish desires for individuals and naysayers who do not respect and/or do not understand how intricate and time-consuming it is to create good and engaging content.
Now I will make an example of the quote at the beginning of this post. It’s a prime example of what I was talking about. The Devs of ANet have listened to the majority of the community voicing their concerns, and taken in their own design philosophy to balance in the content that have created for us in the short time this game has been out. There was once an extremely vocal outcry consisting of players “Having nothing to do at endgame” so the Devs responded with something that didn’t perfectly fit into their philosophy; Fractals and Ascended gear. The beauty of this is that ascended gear, even though it is better than Exotics, it does not win a fight. It is a very minute increase but it’s also hard to get compared to exotics, and gives those people something to do. Now, we have a lot less of those outbursts.
That’s a perfect example of ANet listening, acknowledging, and acting for the community. Even though there are many who hate ascended, it really doesn’t change their experience. If you don’t want to grind for it, that’s okay because you’re not really at a significant disadvantage against someone who does have it.
ANet just today came out with a patch that removed culling from WvW, on top of that they have incorporated popular exotics such as Knights, Berserkers, and Rabid stat allocations to be obtained via Badges of Honor as well as unique skins that can also be purchased with badges. That is yet another thing the community has asked for a lot.
While the list goes on, it is very clear that ANet is listening to the community and acting in favor of it while at the same time running a very fair business to keep the game running. You are right about some people being short-sighted, and unfortunately we will have to deal with that in any game community. However, then there are also people who are very aware and understanding of the development process, and who also understand how amazing this game is compared to other MMO’s considering its youth, and the best thing we can do is show our appreciation to the awesome dev team for their hard work.
While I can commend the devs for listening to the players (or at least some demographics), the glaring point I saw was that Ascended was introduced in direct counter to their own philosophy that there would be no gear grind. You can say that it does not make a significant difference, but the fact remains that there is a difference, just as there is a difference between rares and exotics, and once stats are involved, people are obligated to grind for it.
Incorporating popular stat allocations only brings one question to my mind – why weren’t these stat allocations available on introduction? It’s like saying, hey! After listening to car owners, we’ve decided to add a passenger seat to our car design, since, well, apparently it’s pretty popular.
Putting the new skins into Black Lion Chests is not a popular decision. Balancing around PvP while disregarding the effects on PvE is not listening to the community (or listening to specific demographics).
While I applaud the notion that constructive criticism should be given, sometimes I feel like we are obligated to applaud when they do something that should have been done ages ago. Remove culling so we can actually SEE what we are fighting?! Someone give that man an award! I guess we should put them up for a Nobel Prize if it ever gets ported to PvE (looooove fighting invisible centaur hordes btw)!
I’m not saying that they’re doing BAD work. I’m just saying that reserve your credit for when credit is due. On the flip side – just saying “NERFED?! LAME PATCH. OFF TO ESO! KTHNXBYE” doesn’t help either. But asking for reasoned, logical arguments backed with proof in a forum is always going to be an uphill task..
We all care about this game, in one way or another. Enough to come here and criticize and complain in the hopes that it gets better. It gets nasty when people get ignored, continuously, for months. That’s when the nails come out.
People will stop complaining the moment they loose that final bit of hope, give up and move on to the next thing.
But a dark outlook and a negative attitude doesn’t help the community or the game developers make it any better.
Praising failure doesn’t help them make it any better either. What do you suggest?
I suggest that when something is taken away that you disagree with to give your opinion on what could be better placed in game to replace it. If you truly believe that it didn’t deserve to be taken away or changed then state that as well. I’m not simply complaining that people should just be OK with every change, or follow blindly. I’m simply saying that people need to look at long term and see what can benefit everyone. And that people give ideas and feedback that is more than just destructive criticism or turn threads into 4 walls of arguments against each other. Because strife among one another gets us no where, and degrading the people you ask change from does nothing to help as well.
Where as, in the real world, when you want something changed and are ignored you have two choices; give up and leave or shout louder.
Sorry to say that the option that isn’t speak up louder also means that all the apologists also get screwed because if enough people leave the game shuts down.
But a dark outlook and a negative attitude doesn’t help the community or the game developers make it any better.
Praising failure doesn’t help them make it any better either. What do you suggest?
All these changes only make me feel like GW2 was released too early. “Wait and see” is for beta. Now that the game is live, it is inexcusable.
