Okay I am a “veteran” gw2 player playing since beta, I admit I will buy heart of thorns expansion looks too cool to miss out on, but please anet don’t give us more ugly trenchcoats for medium armor…. Please…… All my medium armor wearing characters are having to make do with outfits (I am a big collector).
Also $50/ £34.99+$10.00/ £8.50 (character slot) is cheap for an expansion and a slot, give anet a freaking break will you veteran players They need to earn money somehow, it’s not as if they are adding a hefty monthly subscription fee on top…..
Just no lazy trenchcoats please…………

As a player since GW1 I am not buying HOT until we see some resolve.
I would be happy with a $10 price reduction for current players and an extra character slot.
If Anet wants Loyal players to stay they need to show it.
If the upvotes on the reddit thread “Don’t Pre-Purchase Heart of Thorns” are any indication, that’s a bare-minimum loss of $78k, so far, not including any upgrade packages. So the total is easily over $100,000 in lost sales, just from those who have viewed that thread and voted. It’s not a perfect metric, but people are speaking their minds and voting with their money right now.
Maybe if there was some discussion about the HoT packages and price points, this disaster could have been avoided. It’s not like we don’t want to give Anet our money, but we also want good value. If the price cannot be lowered at this point, at least pad the packages, especially the base one. It’s nickel and diming your customers, when you make them pay $50, then force them to buy a character slot for the new class.
Yup, we’re waiting with our money in-hand. I WANT to pre-purchase, badly! But I want fair price points.
We are getting free armour sets now, so why complain about them selling outfits?
because we like the outfit designs but feel like it is wasted awesome design if it cant be mixed and matched!

This new matchmaking is horrible. I can’t play solo ranked arenas, because I get only mega noobs in my team while the enemy team is full premade. I really don’t get it. Can anyone explain this to me? …

- get 5 random people together that all have access to an internet connection, headsets, gw2 and TS, vent, or whatevs.
- everyone rolls turret engies
- win matches against all the random teams
- lose less matches than you win because random teams won’t win vs. 5 engies
- claim your jolly llamas at the end of the test
I am tired of tests. I am tired of solo queue not having it’s own queue. you had to win 10 games in a row in RA to get into TA when you queued for RA. Bring Solo queue back.
We need tiers. We need rewards for tiers we are in.
All this testing is getting old. This stuff should have been ironed out ages upon ages ago.

Same experience here with bad matchmaking. Sure some pug games its just luck whether you win or lose but some games are just messed up lol. Its really discouraging since i started off in the 300s on the leaderboard and now im ridiculously low. I fear queueing ranked solo anymore
You’re not alone. My matchmaking has been terrible the past few days. They had to change something.
In the last leaderboard I had over 200 games played. 95% of those games I was solo queue. My win ratio was at 56-58%.
Now the new leaderboard:
Wins 0 Losses 6 (btw I somehow have 2 points which puts me in the 38% now)
Apparently I am the worst PvP player NA, but here is a little insight on how the past 6 games have gone.
The first 2 games I played were pugs vs premade, and if I remember correctly there wasn’t even a duo queue on my team.
I belive the 3 game was pugs vs pugs…hey I lost it happens.
3rd game pugs (2 were duo queue on my team) vs premade.
4-6th games – 1 of them were pugs vs premade. One of those games I went far point at the start held 2 people there, but hey I also had a thief who loves getting creatures constantly throughout the match including the start, so even though I tried to give my other points the opportunity for a 4v3, but hey every once in a while you will get a bad player on the team?…
I am not sure what changes Anet made to matchmaking but apparently it made me the worst player NA.

Keep up the hard work! After 2 and 1/2 years of getting better and better matchmaking we are back to square one? But hey forget all of that, at least you guys are trying!

Apparently you are referring to practice matches, those I don’t see problem in people “exploiting” the autobalance.
If you want a stable 5v5 fights but don’t want the pressure of risking the rank of the team mates, play unranked and be happy.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Since the leaderboard change my matches have been getting worse..
^ this is pretty much how I feel. I’m consistently inconsistent, but have really liked the matches I’ve been put in until this last patch. It is very frustrating. I know it is test, but it is frustrating test especially since the path notes from the 20th aren’t available to be viewed. I would feel better if I knew more about what was done, because I really don’t like the state of this testing patch.
Here’s my experience with the current ladder:
I’d love to earn a Llama, I just don’t have the time to put 10+ games of ranked PvP in a day. Therefore, I can’t get a llama because I can’t place on the LB. My biggest concern, though, is really the matchmaking algorithm in use right now. I think the thing that’d help a player like me the most is the ability to find a team or a group of players I can play with when I queue, because matchmaking usually pairs me with lower MMR players to counterbalance my mid-high MMR, and as a result I have matches that really aren’t fun where I have to carry hard or get smashed by mediocre players slaying 4 players from my team with 2 players from their team.

The wins need to be weighted though. A win against Abjured shouldn’t be calculated the same as a win against “The French Toast Mafia”.
It would give too much of an advantage to the people who are able to play during the slower periods when most of the “pro” players are hard at work.
With any comp:
1) Decide of one point you don’t want to cap. Let one of their engi sit there for the entire game.
2) Send four players at you home node and wipe the two guys there. Give targets.
3) Snowball to mid. They are 4 and you are 5, and some of them are on respawn.
4) Profit.
Best skills: every stab skill, AoE, MOA!

Im quite confused how matchmaking works. I queue solo most of the time. 1st 3 days since LB test season, everything was going so fine. My teammates know how to win, was sitting at 70% winrate. Until today, everything went crashing down. Like wow. Full pugs against premades, team mates not knowing how to rotate, afkers. 11losing streaks. Ouch.
What’s worse is, my queue times are so long(5-7mins), every loss hurts. It’s not like I can immediately recover my losses by instaqueueing.

Thanks for writing up your concerns so succinctly.
This test season is intended to test an algorithm that’s tailored towards ranking players higher for better W/L ratios, in addition to using points gained from playing (meaning games played does not become valueless). The algorithm we’re using this time around is completely different than what was previously tested, and they both have different purposes. We’re already having internal discussions on how we can adjust this season’s algorithm to better suit the goals we stated on Thursday – rewarding players who play well, not just play. These discussions will continue into the next week, and now we have an entire weekend’s worth of data that we can look at and extrapolate on.
An important thing to keep in mind is that these events are tests, and the only thing we’re testing right now is the formula behind ranking. We’re gathering a lot of useful data that we can use to help us make better decisions. These “test seasons” not a final product by stretch of the imagination.
Serious question and not snarky, why do we have periods of no real leaderboard followed by test seasons? Couldn’t you be testing leaderboard changes like every other week?
