hi arena guys and gals!
i’m not sure why the ascended gear system is being piece mailed and offered like this. y’all should have waited until all systems and options were ready to go. in addition to a high gated time investment, the unnecessary gold sink with ectos and having to earn silly marks or whatever guild points (that currently favor large guilds), players are not able to make informed gear decisions because all of the pieces are not available.
obviously these things had not been planned out far enough ahead of time and is currently being thrown in all willy nilly. i would like to suggest that either total costs are lowered or ectos and guild marks are removed (preferred method considering a bunch of circumstances ranging from play your way no grind game manifesto and legendaries on the tp) from the ascended gear equation. it’s the least you could do to deflect some frustration while you’re still figuring things out and scrambling to get all the ascended gear and methods to obtain them in.
thanks for reading!
postscript, asap (like in the march patch) give the options to zoom out the camera a lot more and disable other players ability/power particle effects because the up close and personal firework shows are giving some players seizures.
love u all!

Im sure they will eventually but the Oni weapons from factions were some of the best made items in any game.
And yes you guys did do the nightfall armour for the wars in the cash shop. Having one for every other profession specific would be amazing. I would JUMP on the chance for some alternate GW1 mesmer armour thats’ for sure.
Yesterday for a Guild Bounty.
Instant deflation.
I still miss my monk armors, look much cooler than trenchcoat variety here
mesmer is actually the most UP class
lolwut. Only if you’re a noob who doesn’t know how to play one o_O
Anyone here who played SWTOR may remember how rediculas is looked seeing people in hover cars driving around a space station. Its like seeing someone in a car in a mall.
Anyways there is at least 30 things this game needs to do before they are to add something that every mindless WoW clone MMO has.
The design of waypoints is so mounts are not needed no doubt because the first game had a similar system that worked just fine.
If they added mounts that work just like WoW at that point there moving backwards instead of forward, and I say WoW because lets face it. It’s the WoW people that are requesting this.
The damand for mounts is not much different then the damand to add the holy trinity into GW2. It’s a small handful of people that just can’t move on to new things.
Console games are completely different from what was available 5-7 year previously. They evolve in both the idea’s used in them and how the game is played.
Yet PC games barely change and MMO’s haven’t change really in 10 years. There is a reason why most retailers barely even have PC games from sale, and most PC games now are some form of free to play model. Move on people your killing this genre.

Honestly I don’t know why they don’t just up the precursor mf rate a bit more. Giving out precursors in events is certainly not the answer as we saw from the karka debacle, and this whole rare bonanza while increasing supply also increased demand a whole lot.
Also they need to nerf cof path 1 to the ground in order to stop the massive inflation of high end items (since every path is generating bucketloads of gold). It’ll be better for the economy if farming mats becomes as effective as farming gold.

I think the big announcement that ‘people are playing too much and being rewared for it consistently is a huge problem we’re removing next patch’ is pretty much grounds to scream at the Devs.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!?!!!!!!!!?!
pant-pant
Ok. Now the shocked market can go do whatever it wants, and people with alts can know that the Devs pretty much just hate them.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
There is zero need for mounts. The game is designed around going on foot. Thats why things like the broomstick have zero effect on movement speed.
Also hyperbole is an exaageration in order to make something sound worse than it is.
Not true, nevertheless he is using it in that way.
I think the problem lies here: “statement of intent”.
Even if it’s not technically correct to say that those who betray those intents are liars,
many people would still call them liars, because today you can’t simply jump around killing random mobs and achieving the vertical progression at the same time, so you have to do X or Y specific things to be on par with people who like grinding.
One of the main reason that motivated people to buy the game was the “natural” progression, no X or Y mandatory things to do to gain BiS items.
Now we have fractals, guild mission, 40 laurel/50 ecto… and this for some players can be seen as a grind (you have to spend some time doing “innatural” things and when you’ll reach the top, the top is moved higher) you can’t obtain those item doing i.e. some jumping puzzles and even if you could, it would probably lead to another different currency, so to a gated content.
They told they wanted to make a game were the hardcore grind was just in order to obtain skins.
Maybe that was not a contract, but a lot of people still felt betrayed because they expected a game like that.
Anyway you are right, devs are not liars, some players (me included) were simply too naive

I’m pretty sure you’ll find that diminishing returns are a good thing for the game in the long run.
Its not for you if you bought it based on what was said in the manifesto.
Enemy health down to 10%
Invulnerable
Invulnerable
Invulnerable
Out of range
Enemy health up to 100%
Player thinks “Fine, I’ll just continue on”.
Nope. Enemy comes back to make you kill it again.
“Argh fine”
Invulnerable.
Alt-F4.
Saying that he’s saying something “completly wrong” means that you are sure that he IS wrong when he state the devs lied, but as you have already highlighted no one know what they were thinking when they made the manifesto.
So you’re using an hyperbole too, aren’t you?
He may be right or he may be wrong, we will never know, all we know is that we bought the game because of that manifesto and we were expecting something “a bit” different xD
(And it WAS different, then november came…)
Anyhow, we are off-topic so let’s just stop here >.> we’re both right and wrong the truth lies somewhere in between.
- Mike Obrien
Fanboys fails to understands that most of the “whines” comes from people who love the game and would be it the way it was presented back when the manifesto came out.
Anyway, watching that video again, now and see how the game is actually, really makes me sad.
This.
To Shootsfoot and Concept:
This is not just YOUR game. It is OUR game.
Loving everything they put into the game does not make you special, we are all the same :O
We have the right to praise devs or to “whine” if they give us reasons to do so.
Maybe we loved the game as much as you love it now, we just don’t like it so much anymore due the deep changes, but we still refuse to think it will stay like this forever, plus devs are not always totally clear so we can still expect a backflip or something similar >.>
Anyway back on topic:
RedStar.4218
Imo they will add it later, I don’t think it’s in the game yet.
Maybe it’s related to the Zone Blue (?)

Its not those giant turtles in orr is it? there are also some giant turtles in an Asura jump puzzle..
Either way like or dislike everyone has an opinion good or bad, until Anet goes back to the manifesto i doubt the complaints will ever stop, really, at least on that topic..
Gotta say for good or bad that manifesto video annoys the heck outta me too these days, its completely untrue..
I don’t care about what is said in the manifesto…they show in game footage. It’s pretty weird to make footage for a creature only to take it out (although they did create an armor for the mesmer trailer that’s not in the game, but that’s another story).
They ve shown footage of the Canthan district in Divinity as well… we all know how that turned out.
As for other “legit” reasons: not everything makes it into the game due to time constraints, development complications, etc. It should turn up eventually in one form or another.
Why are you even on the forums? You seem to very much not like GW2…
I hate what GW2 has become and that s exactly why i m posting here. but i guess that s too hard to comprehend for some people.
-Mike O’Brien, President of Arenanet
Considering the manifesto is just a bunch of lies at this point i m not surprised that its not in the game.
I was trying to find it after release but no area fits its surroundings: big deep uncorrupted ocean.

I think the whole condition damage system is flawed, as its potential decreases with more people playing. It’s some sort of teamplay-punishment.
I’d like to see some major changes so even 5 condition damage builds can play together without hindering each other. Direct damage builds don’t hinder each other, too.
I see your point.
Strangely, burning is the only DoT without any special effect.
From a medical perspective burning initially causes dehydratation and loss of protein, so it would make sense to have a side-effect like a loss of endurance or a decrease in damage.
Perhaps something like -3% dmg and -10% endurance regen would fit.
Yes , i need to fix the word ‘goal’. i am sorry for that. I was ment to say raid/gear/mount/pvp etc progression.
For progression, there’s WoW. GW2 is for adventure®s.
I love this game.
I don’t require goals, treadmills, or any other type of “mechanic” to stimulate my game play.
For those that do require such things, they can be found in many other places. There is not need to reconstruct this game to suit your selfish needs.
Just to add to this, ANet’s designers really need to reevaluate their definition of “entertaining.” Numbers alone are not entertaining. It’s really the problem solving elements that are inherent to any competent game that are entertainment and everything that follows- theme, telegraphing (so players can react to the problem. Fricckity frack is this game terrible at telegraphing), number of solutions and then numbers.

The Feb 26, 2013 update notes say:
“Updated skillsets for several krait and undead creatures to make them more entertaining to fight.”
If 2670 damage per second, for a prolonged period, on a warrior with 3100 armor, from a level 65 Krait Damoss, is considered “more entertaining” to fight, then some devs have a strange sense of “entertainment”. Visit the event at the United Arcanist Lab in Sparkfly Fen to get a taste of this “fun”.
Seriously, revisit those changes, please.
*If you like gear progression… this game isn’t for you
*If you like playing a certain role in trinity… this game isn’t for you
*If you like raids… this game isn’t for you
*If you like mounts… this game isn’t for you
*If you like amateur pvp with different modes… this game isn’t for you
*If you like semi-amateur pvp with ladders etc like wow… this game isn’t for you
*If you like pro-pvp like moba… this game isn’t for you
*If you like real open world pvp… this game isn’t for you
*Most importantly if you like to have a goal… this game isn’t for you‘this game isn’t for you’ is a common reply to many posts and it is sadly and actually a true reply for the most posts. I really believe that devs prepared this game for a really specific(even unique) type of a player base.
This is what happens when you abandon your core principles and game design. Trying to cater to everyone simply does not work. ANET had a good strong base with GW1 but a few months after release they abandoned it. They introduced something that they ve been trying to fix for the past 4 months and they ve only managed to kitten off most of their player base in one way or another.
They need to stop flip flopping and get back to their core principles.
Yes not all games are for everyone but if they r gonna advertise something they better stick to it.

I was just reading a short thread about someone getting bored with the lack of gear grind.
I smiled a bit inside.
Not everyone has the composure to farm the same banal content over and over until they have the bestest best baubles and lord it over people. This game is for people that want to be on primarily equal footing.
Take myself for example. I’m a tried and true “medium-core” gamer. I love a nice complex system and a few long-term goals to work toward but especially difficult content or unfriendly people cripplingly frustrate me. I can’t stand dungeons due to the incessant number of overpowered damage dealing "whatever"s, I’d be WILLING to try fractals if the elitists weren’t hoarding all the parties, that sort of thing.
And it turns out I don’t have to do things that way, I can get my gear for the most part from other content to get in a better spot and THEN try some of that harder content again IF I choose.
I’m happy for that personally. This game IS for me.
Reminds me a bit of AoC and their promises of bar fights.
I hope they at least put in Polymock or something like that eventually.
