What is that UFO in the first picture? Spooky!
That’s a Mad King door. (When Thorn is playing his usual tricks on the poor folk of Lion’s Arch.
very halloweeny
Wonderful pictures! Quite creepy all of them.
Take heed especially of the last picture. There are two monsters in it. Wintersday is coming!
As I have been preparing for the Horrorween community event, I have had time to take in the sights and delights of Lion’s Arch at Halloween, and upon investigation I have found that the city itself is coming alive!
At each player hub a horrific creature can be seen if you are to simply look hard enough!
Here are my findings!
To make things truly right and fair, it’ll have to be like Saints row: All versions of all clothes available for both genders. And there would be both a dress and a suit for both male and female of all 5 races.
Some many not want to see an adult norn with his massive mustache and a dress. But if they want to, let them, I say.
Again: different people want different things.
Just release a toggle option, or two separate sets. Everybody would be happy.
It’s not so hard.
Yes for these two suggestions!
Let us choose which one we wanna buy.
I, personally, would like to have the new dress on my asura, too.
Chibi Asura San (Engineer), Hikaru Masai (Guardian), Selene Minerva (Revenant)
Guild: The Bunnies [Bun] ~ Server: Jade Quarry

This.
(It will mean more work for the artists though, so I can understand why ANet just took this route.)
It is a staple of the fantasy genre. And there are a lot more not as revealing.
RIP City of Heroes
Well, first they have to design a medium armor set that doesn’t cover the backside with a coat.
Why would you want to put a CAT in a DRESS?
More, why would you want to put a raging tiger-demon-monster in a dress?
MORE, why would you want to put said creature in a dress With Horrible Tail Clipping?
Unisex armor for cat-beasts please. My female Charr is the goofiest yet most endearing character in my account.
You seem quite mentally and emotionally disturbed by Charrs. I’m sorry that you are permanently traumatized by them. On the other hand, I’m not as big of a fan of masculine, testosterone-filled, cross-dressing females as you are. Those are frightening!
In a game that promotes vanity, it’s disappointing that Char and Asura females were left out of this design.
What mentally and emotionally disturbs me is the fact that people seem to think female must equal cute little darling in a dress. If it’s not primped up and adorable, it’s a “masculine, testosterone-filled cross-dresser” and therefore, somehow less female.
Female is your biology, it has nothing to do with what you wear. I don’t need or want my characters to be stuffed into unflattering dresses, in order to know they’re women.

Dunno, but if they have maybe that can move on to the REAL glitch where you are UNABLE to swap weapons… Or the glitch that doesn’t allow you to change utility traits when you’re OOC.
Oh, and your title is misleading. Needs to be renamed “PLS CONFIM: Legendary Weapon Swap Effect Glitch Fixed?” as I had no idea that was the glitch you were talking about… I thought this was about the glitch I spoke of.. You know, a real problem.
It is not unisex. It has a different model for female human, norn and sylvari.

I thought everyone on reddit was demanded a fancy unisex tuxedo? Now people are flip-flopping AGAIN?
geez…
Different people want different things.
- Some people want a dress for their female asura.
- Other people want a tuxedo for their female human.
Is this really too difficult for you to to grasp?
Solution: have both a dress outfit AND a tuxedo outfit. Leave it to the player to decide which one to buy/wear. (Or add a “genderbending” toggle option to the outfit page and allow a player to switch on the spot.)

I’m quite glad it’s unisex. The whole deal with Charr is that for their gear being on par with males. The Wintersday, Witch’s and Ancestral outfits didn’t sit well with me in that regard.
I would of really liked this outfit to be unisex for all races. Am I the only one who wants my female human guardian to have style like a boss?

I still want a unisex tux (tho more symmetrical and without kitten on it, aka like debonair vi in league) for all races.

Note: They’re adding the custom slider back to the new gemstore.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
So, a new article has been released on massively
http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/10/23/arenanet-teases-guild-wars-2s-road-to-war/
In this article you can read:
“ArenaNet also feels that there is value in tradition, which is one reason that holiday content for Halloween and Wintersday won’t be seeing any changes this year apart from fresh rewards.”
My opinion on this: simply they are wrong. I very much looked forward to how the story of halloween progresses this year only to be disappointed. (Yes, I know they said only Blood and Madness will return, but thats not the point) From now on I can’t really say festivals are anet’s strong suit. From now on I can’t look forward to halloween as much as I used to.
In GW1 I loved anet for their traditions. New halloween masks every year, new minipets when your character ages, every month monthly GvG championship. No festivals were cancelled like this year’s dragon bash. Weekend bonuses… traditions are one of the reasons that made GW1 succesful IMO and thinking traditions are not important are just wrong.
Edit: Just to make myself clear , I have no problem with recurring events, but using tradition as an exuse to stop continuing of the story is just not right. Anet should find a way to keep the previous story in a sensible way as well as add new ones.
I’ve felt the continuing story of halloween every year was a tradition, well looks like I was wrong.

I love Heroes and Henchmen , but I don’t think it would sit well with the GW2 community . What Anet could do is make them be like a minature except not so small and more like the regular size of npc’s . Unlike the minatures , these npc’s that follow you around would have chat bubbles saying stuff to whatever you’re doing .
AI heroes basically turned GW1 into a single player game.
No thank you. Stop trying to drag everything from GW1 into this game simply because it was in GW1.
That was the beauty of Guild Wars 1, that you could play it solo if you wanted to up to the Elite Missions, where you basically had to find a party. The design for this game was supposed to reflect that, in that party co-ordination was needed for larger, world events and dungeons, but you could also feasibly play by yourself and have dynamic groupings with other random travellers in the wilds.
Unfortunately the shrinking player base makes the latter not work in a majority of cases, except on maps with trains and whatnot. I can only hope ANet comes up with a decent solution to that problem that’s not just a stop-gap, and Heroes would be the optimal, if distant and improbable, solution.
Isle of Janthir – Sylvari Mesmer – Alexandre Le Grande
im not into for that.
This is a MMO, suposed to be played with other people.
There are also 2 ways of geting such a feature.
1) a simple AI summon ,works like a elemental summon… think its worthless
2) Summon the actual character with his last equiped gear/traits/weapons, works like mercenaries from gw1…again, whats the point in this in a mmo such as gw.
People have been talking about this since forever . My theory why is cause they miss the henchman/hero feature form gw1,where you spend time on your heroes, team, builds, strategy and teamplay rather than only on your 8 skills weapon and armor set
The idea I’ve suggested, which I think fits as a compromise, would be to introduce a new elite skill that is on a par with racial traits. Basically it’s Charr Warband, but it summons a random pair of NPCs selected from the 8 classes.
Then, in the gem store, they sell an upgrade that reskins the classes with a random Alt on your account of the same class.
Simple, non-game-breaking, would make a LOT of money.
sure, if it enables me to do dungeons with heroes, getting really sick and tired with all the gear/prof discrimination.
Before megaservers I’d have said this was an absolute necessity, and like others have said it was initially supposed to be a feature. Nowadays it’s not that necessary but with the apparent hemorrhaging of players, the megaservers are merely a stop-gap solution.
The Heroes of Guild Wars 1 were, in my opinion, one of the greatest additions to the games because you got a permanent party with customizable equipment and skills and various personalities (albeit only given through sparse idle/combat quotes). On top of that, there were also “Mercenary” Heroes which were basically what the OP describes, your own character as an AI companion.
I’d love to see Heroes return, even Mercenary Heroes, but with the way the game works as of now I don’t think it’d work out.
Isle of Janthir – Sylvari Mesmer – Alexandre Le Grande
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could have an AI companion whom we could select from our many characters slots. Allow these AI companions for PVE contents and also start a new category for PVP. It would also be cool if we could give instructions (like a macro) to the companions for fights, buffing or healing. ANET could also create a side story with the companions. This side story will level up companionship which in turn enables us to use more of our companions skills or maybe increase the number of instructions/macro available to us. This will also open up tons of combo and various play style.
Think it would be cool. Discuss.
I don’t really care at all about Prince Thorn as last year’s candy corn acquisition was flawed. But everyone who spent real money on Carlotta is screwed. 500 gems compared to a few gold is ridiculous. A refund would totally be fair.
I dont see this even as remotely fair.
It wasn´t fair last year, this year it is though.
I already said before. Items have a value beyond their currency value.
I dont give a crap about the currency value of an item. Currency (both ingame and in real life) is just a tool to get what I want to have for me.
There are more values such as sentimental value or collectors value or functional value. And reducing the amount of resources to get an item by around 90% without even accounting for inflation of the required resources definetely also hurts the non currency values.
But I know that economic specialists like John Smith have no clue about things like that. Those people only care about currencies and metrics.
Sentimental/collectors/functional value would remain completely unchanged regardless of how cheap/expensive or common/rare an item is.
Sentimental value means that the item has personal meaning to you. Maybe it was gifted to you by your girlfriend. Maybe it was the first Exotic that you ever found. Maybe it was even because you spent hours farming for it. (Back in GW1, my Icy Dragon Sword fell into this category. Even as time went on and it became more and more common, I never threw it out because I remember the time, after hours of killing Ice Imps, that the sword finally dropped for me.) Sentimental value is not at all affected by an item’s price or rarity.
Likewise, if you’re collecting something, what’s truly important is that the item is part of your collection. The collection is incomplete without it. Even if the item became super easy to get later, it’s STILL part of your collection, so it’s still fulfilling its role.
By functional value, I’m assuming that you’re talking about the intended use for items such as picks etc. If ANet decided to change, say, the Watchwork Pick so that it no longer dropped sprockets (as an economic decision), then yes, you have the right to complain and ask for a refund because the item no longer does the task you bought it for. But if after 5 years ANet decided to slash prices for the Watchwork Pick and reduce it back to 800 gems, and you paid 1000 gems for it, the functional value of the pick is still exactly the same. It still lasts forever, and it still gives you sprockets.
