I like reading these theories. Because it’s much more interesting than what actually happens in game.
NO!
I would much rather craft my armor than have to do a quest.
This item is… Eh. It misses the problem. Respecs are already very easy to get, unless you’re in the middle of a dungeon/fractal, where it’s not necessary.
What we need is templates, not respecs.
Scarlet is a perfect villain.
I have to say that everyone has nailed it here. We eles have been fed a constant stream of crap since the very beginning. I love the game, but wish my class wasn’t the biggest joke out there. I play staff and appreciate some of the buffs, but our skills take FOREVER to cast. It’s ridiculous. By the time I get a single fireball out there whatever I was shooting at has already been killed by ten staff guardians. I used to think that people who said Anet hated this class or that class were just jaded, but after a year of being crapped on I kinda have to start believing it.
What everyone here says about conjures is true. They are completely situational, and are useless in PvP exactly because they aren’t insta-cast like engie kits. All Anet has to do is make the thing insta-cast and the second one just drops at our feet. This would make them somewhat useful, though they should just rework them to not have charges nor a cooldown and change the skills to have proper cooldowns to reflect the ability to now swap in and out of the conjure at will.
Oh god this must be the greatest joke ever.GW2 used to teach writing? With that level of personal story where the cabbage stole my glory?Oh god ROLFCOPTER.
You don’t have to minmax every run. I usually pug, in fact. And it’s pretty easy to tell the difference between a good group and a bad one, and the difference is pretty much 95% to do with gear and traits.
Some months back there was this Living Story update, where the players helps Marjory Delaqua investigate the murder of a charr guy at the beginning of the Dragon Bash festival in Lions Arch. Here’s a link to the wiki page of that certain investigation:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Every_Piece_Matters
Now, there are several suspects here, and you have to find out who is guilty. At first, I thought this was pretty cool, with a crime scene and all that stuff. When you get to the interrogation part it’s almost like you want to kill a baby seal. Instead of asking the suspects questions and checking if they have alibi and so on, you just get this “device” that solves all your problems. You point the thing at your suspect, and POOF, the device instantly tells you if the suspect is guilty or not. Yes, I know Azura can invent all these kinds of devices, but seriously. If you want to have a really compelling story, stay away from such cop outs. It’s almost as every LS update features an Azura with his or her little (cop out)device.
With the introduction of all the techy things to GW2, it seems likely they will do more of this. I sincerely hope they won’t repeat the technology cop out. Anyone else getting annoyed by this?
“This rose has thorns…..and here they are!”
Yes, yes, we know. Whether it is a 5 man group, or an open world event, this is all I hear. How many times during Golem MkII do I have to hear the same thing over and over again? “For great Justice” tops my list. Seriously, next time you are in a crowded area, count how many times you hear it. Its starts to get annoying.
Is there any possibly way we can have an option to turn off player speech? The voices are well done, just not varied enough to justify having to hear it.
Saying you want to complete the content isn’t a real answer, who the kitten goes to a dungeon and thinks “I’m not really in the mood to finish it, I’ll just leave midway,” his question wasn’t whether you want to complete the content or not, his question was do you perform well when in pug groups?(bring the optimum gear, do what is expected to be done from your class)

I think that it’s time to put this BETA features back.
After reading Chris Whiteside’s Post where he stated that they read what community says and hear our feedbacks (while they called us – “vocal minority” of the community which feedbacks don’t represent the community in general) I’ve decided to offer Developers and the Company to put back the “Content Evaluation Tool” – CET which they used in betas and make the results Public this time ! (Let’s see what community thinks since you said you care so much for our feedbacks – Let’s make things crystal clear once forever.)
For those who wasn’t part of the betas – It was a survey tool that will appear after every content you finish and ask you to evaluate it.
I love this game and i care very much for it so lets put this and have a common ground.
Here is a screenshot of what I’m talking about :
WvW – Structure Upgrade Re-Work idea!
WvW – Art of War Guild Buffs & Keep Claiming Re-Work idea!

I tried to respond to your original thread… spent 15 mins writing just to find it got deleted (sigh)
Because there was no gear treadmill, I could not improve myself to be better than others. Because I already bought all ascended trinkets and and ascended weapon as well as exotic armor, there was no goal for me to do.
Climbing a gear treadmill does not make you better at the game than another player.
Gear treadmills not only kill competitive game modes, but it is a lazy and easy for developers and players both, get out of the mindset that a game should be about grinding stupidly hard to obtain tiers of gear (skins are fine, not stats), they can be much more.
Being able to use your dodges properly, your defence mechanics, and positioning and team combo’s and dealing with different situations and reacting fast, makes you a better player. Gear treadmills remove player skill from games.
And when you reach the best in slot (BIS) gear in another game, then what? Do you want them to make a new tier every few months? You want to endlessly chase the BIS carrot that means nothing and just alienates skilled players from grinders? Ascended gear is a step in the stupid direction of treadmill grinding.
Gear treadmills do NOT make you a good player.
I wonder what will be in 2014 :o
-Personal Journal: Character-bound journals that has written entries about the NPCs you’ve interacted with, your relationship with them, the places you’ve been, the history you’ve learned about each location, and the events you’ve participated in.
-Newspaper and Bulletin Boards (news about the living story updates, making clear what is going on in the world right now, bulletin board lists all current activities like mini games, world events and has a link to LFG)
-Profession and Character-specific Quests: Upon logging in, your character is notified by an NPC that he has urgent matters to attend. This opens up a new line of character-specific quests based on your profession, race and the characteristics you chose when you made the character. These quest lines eventually leads to the 3 Mission Outposts (yes, like in Guild Wars 1) that either take us to Maguuma Wastelands, Far Shiverpeaks or Crystal Desert. It is then that the 3 imminent threats are revealed to us. And you know who they are in each of those locations.
-New Race: New threats have caught the attention of the Tengu and they are allowing a representative of each of the Orders into the Dominion of the Winds. This is a new quest line that you can participate once you’ve attained a new rank in your Order by completing some tasks. The Tengu wants to Order to share information about the Elder Dragons. In exchange, they will offer their help in venturing into the Maguuma Wastes, Far Shiverpeaks or Crystal Desert.
-New Weapon Types: New profession-specific quest lines open up opportunities to learn new weapon types. Seek a mentor in the Far Shiverpeaks that will teach you how to use a Lance. A tribe in the Crystal Desert will teach you their art of Scythe wielding in exchange for your lessons in Axe combat. Go on a hunt with a band of natives in Maguuma Wastelands and learn how to shoot a Crossbow.
-Guild Halls: With new threats rising, it becomes clearer than ever that people have to unite. Destiny’s Edge reforms. Guilds across Tyria build strongholds called Guild Halls to prepare for war. Guild Halls can obtain their own custom bulletin board, newspaper, menagerie, merchants, portals, and dueling arena.
-Dueling/Sparring: New threats create urgency in everyone. Tyrians are training for combat and learning new skills and new weapon types. Tyrians are also getting into the habit of sparring and dueling. A player can challenge another to a duel out in the Living World. The outcome of a match may form a rivalry as the number of times you win/lose against that player tallies up.
15 bucks might be a lot to some people, who am I to criticize that, but to me..it is barely anything. It literally cost my girlfriend and I 30 bucks to go see gravity in 3D over the weekend. It was great, but it’s not like I can walk into that theater all month long and watch it as many times as I want during that time. That’s just how I look at it. I’ve had many problems with world of warcraft, and I’ve subbed and unsubbed more times than I can count since 2006, but it was never about the money…it was about other things about the game.
My problem with sub fees is that (at least to me), I find myself forcing myself to play to make that month’s investment worth it. It doesn’t matter whether I like the content provided that month, it’s $15 out of my pocket. If I play 200 hours that month, or 200 seconds; $15. If the guild officers are on vacation and we don’t do anything together for those weekends… yep. Still $15.
And the company can claim that I’m a proud subscriber on their fact sheets.
Whereas with a cash shop option; I can actually show my support for content I like. If I don’t like what GW2 offers that month… I don’t have to pay them a dime. If I approve, yeah, I’ll drop them $10 on something I want.
Never bought a Black Lion Key. Never bought a random mini-pack, or anything else from the Gem Store that’s tied to RNG.
But apparently a lot of people do; because they’re still there. A lot of people like that gamble, and I’m tired of trying to tell them they’re idiots. Oh well.

Kodiak what you are saying is that people should simply appear active enough not to be kicked in a group and get carried until they get the rewards.
This is a disgustingly selfish statement.
For one, if everybody followed your advice no group would ever accomplish anything.
You are telling people “guys, be bad, others will be good for you and in the end we all get the same rewards”. Well what if people didn’t want to be bad, Kodiak? What if people actually wanted to have fun by achieving something and feeling potent, no just being animation jukeboxes? I think you are terribly misconceiving the community.
You think of me as an ultra elitist. I find this very amusing. The truth is that I am indeed a fervent supporter of efficiency. But I look for efficiency in all things, like fun, not just speed of execution. So I am perfectly fine with people playing the way they want. Actually I encourage everyone to do so! But I will always promote efficiency, what ever the way people choose to play. In fact if you look at my guide, two of the three builds I mainly talk about have supportive traits. I believe most peole want to improve. I respect those who don’t for as long as they are conscious of their choice. So all the advice I give is “do the things you want to do as well as you could do them”. I am quite sure this approach is more desirable than your “wave you arms around until the final chest” point of view.
Your comments are simply destructive for this community.

I bet you frost bow “buff” will end up being a nerf when they inevitably neglect to add more arrows/comets to the frost volley when they increase the radius. So you won’t be able to hit your target because all the arrows are too thinly spread.
Endless Petrification Tonic
EDIT: The sarcastic buff to LH mentioned in a few posts above is actually a real buff. Blind almost never works on bosses, and LH is used against bosses, for its high damage and spammable blast finishers. If you remove blind for a 5% chance-on-critical to deal extra 2-5k damage, it’s a pve buff.
LH is also used for farming/leveling/trash mobs because their attack speeds are often times slower than the 3rd hit goes off meaning you as a group will take almost no damage.
The blind is huge.
So it’s been over a year. If this game had followed the same path they took in GW1, around this time we would have had a whole new expansion added to the game full of new PERMANENT content, new classes, new races, furthering the dragon story line, maybe added UW, or Cantha, or Elona.
Instead of that however, we’ve gotten a ton of gimmicky, slightly entertaining but overall underwhelming content (most of it reused with scavenger hunts, etc) that is totally removed from the main dragon plot, and injects random sub plots that are pulled out of the devs butts and are killing GW lore.
Was the living story experiment really worth it? I don’t think it was a good trade at all…
Why all the hate towards the ONLY villain with an actual personality and interesting background and story?? (not counting the Mad King here)
I say “YAY, Scarlet again”
Just reroll a warrior. All the “fresh air” build stuff is good and all, UNTIL you actually play warrior class for yourself. Then you realize that there is no point making a chore out of elementalist play when you can just relax and accomplish more with less effort, and there is more fun and less struggle.
I mained ele and I’m playing warrior now, and it’s pretty ridiculous if you’re coming from Ele land. Basically all your skills have much shorter cds while actually doing more, and all attacks are automatically wide-range aoe (hit with melee weapon -> even stuff behind you might get hit), no need for “oh, nice, lightning whip” – no, it’s crap and bs actually in comparison.
Also, my warrior was already far more mobile at level 7 than my Ele at 80, thanks to weapon switching and the movement skills offered by warhorn+sword and greatsword. No idea why they nerfed RTL, they must just hate the class or be complete kittens whom someone kitten in their head, really.
Best thing is you dont need wrist surgery after trying to play WvW anymore.
I always feel sorry for eles running in wvw switching attunements and toggling frost/shocking aura to keep allies buffed. Sure, it can be “fun”, but in reality it’s just annoying to have to hit keys like an adhd kitten to be of any use.
That being said, unfortunately Warrior is also somewhat boring to play. As a consequence I’ll switch to Camelot Unchained when it comes out.
best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on equal power base.”
