Something I’ve always wanted to see from Living Story updates is new zones. But ArenaNet hasn’t added any (except Southsun). Do you want to see new zones added to the game? If you don’t, why not?
Post your own suggestion for a new map.
EDIT: Another question: Would you rather we get one new zone very couple months, or 3-4 zones all at once?

Yup well all the spiteful people who are in T3 don’t want you spending 20g less than them for a fiery T3 do they?! Oh dear lord 20g Less! Or $10 which would exchange into enough gold to buy half of the T3 anyway!
Oh well. Friendly Gw2 community? I think not. I love the flamekissed light and human T3, to me their different.
To me, Southsun cove is missing two things that every single map has in the game.
Hearts: Yes there is room for placing them!
Map completio reward: Every other map has it, why not Southsun?
By not having those things there it gives a feel that u have been in a hurry to create that map. Now Its very Quick to “complete” as u can simply run across the whole map, avoiding enemies and dont do a thing.

To be fair, most of what you’ve given as reasons she isn’t just an over-powered fan-fic character are just damage control. Small degrees as to why she’s just a master, not a grandmaster. No one but maybe the gods have her proficiency at everything. & noone has her annoying personality to make them infuriating. They showed restraint & focus in terms of power on other villains like Palawa Joko & Shiro. Here she’s just an npc fan character for no good reason. Varesh very nearly brought about the destruction of the planet & there was no need to make her “super-awesome-great” at everything.
I think people like her because she fulfills the same need in people as Mary Sue fan-fic character does. It doesn’t make her a good character.

Seriously, if you were going to make an evil genius puppet master, WHY wasn’t it an Asura? I just dislike the Sylvari in general, they are so unoriginal in design, even their personal story arc is plagiarised from Arthurian tales.
Now that you mention it, I’m kinda wondering how the story would go if was an Asura doing it. As far as I can tell, it works far better. Scarlet seems like a character that is perfectly written to be an Asura, especially with Asura being played more comedic most of the time.
Currently the only thing that will restore my faith in the GW story at all will be when we retcon Scarlet out with time travel, or humiliate & emasculate her to the point that she’s a talking head we can play soccer with. At the end of her story I want to feel like the writers are saying “I’m sorry, you’re right she’s dumb & we are going to act like she’s dumb. here’s something to make up for it.” It would be a nice change from “We hated everything you loved about GW1 & we’re going to make a character so annoying that it will be frustrating to even play the content”

For people who don’t know, here’s a full break down of WHY lore lovers, story buffs and general players of GW2 hate Scarlett.
1. We have no personal connection with her in our ‘personal’ story. We as a player just get to watch her muck things up and clean up her mess but nothing ever directly affects the world for more than two weeks. She’s an annoyance more than a villain. Bad guys of other games are busy raising elder gods of destruction, overthrowing kingdoms, dooming the planet and otherwise killing off large populations of people while Scarlett is doing a little jig and summoning creatures that get their metal butts dismantled before they do any real harm. The only reason we as the player stop her is for the sweet loots.
2. She’s very VERY poorly written. From any stand point. 1302 AE is the first appearance of the first born Sylvari, we are not told but are pretty sure she’s not a firstborn as most of them seem highly regarded as plant people royalty. This puts her to be at most 20 years old. Not only does no one know anything about her, even the pale tree herself the ‘mother’ of all Sylvari never mentions this possible threat at any time. Seems like something an all knowing mother tree would give a hint about. That also means in only 20 years time Scarlett managed to graduate from all 3 asura colleges, travel to the home cities of all the other races, become accepted and lean all of their trade secrets (warband leadership for Charr, great hunt for norn, her own Wyld hunt, and whatever it is humans do…join the army?). As an example Asura are put into pre-classes for their colleges as prodigy (children) so young that one class is ‘nap time’ Asura train their whole lives to be part of a single college. The greatest mind of their race, Snaff only graduated from one. And what’s even a worse kick in the teeth to the pre-set lore is that she ‘saw’ the eternal alchemy? That god like magic to the Asura, the thing they have been trying to understand since their creation? Yea she just kinda saw it for funsies. I would complain even if it WAS an asura who managed it in such a cheap way.
3. Going along with everything stated above she is NEVER mentioned before the Queens event. Not a single bit of info is given by any NPC of this grand master of all races. No matter what town you go to they say and do nothing to tell you that anything in her story ever took place. You would think SOMEONE would know something. If anything a pretty prominent Asura died and even he’s never mentioned. It was only less the 20 years ago.
4. Her existence removes all threat and care from the dragons. It seems that Anet staff care more about her story than the DRAGONS that have been awoken and now seek to suck all the magic from the world. I haven’t heard a thing about them since the whole sunless re-boot and that lasted less than anything Scarlett has done. They write her to overshadow everything and everyone in the game, yet nothing in the game after these events ever represent that.
5. Her mechanics are tired. She summons things for…some reason? We fight them, they die and she laughs. Every time they have the chance to make her likable, relatable or even remotely interesting they just put a holo of her somewhere and a voice over saying creepy rhymes and then poof. ‘Scarlett did it’ is all we get. Leaving us asking ever time. “WHY?”
6. In many instances there are much better, pre established character villains that could be used to great advantage. Speaking on the new frac, Kudu. The Asuran ‘leader’ of the inquest would have pages of reasons to cause this type of mayhem. He’s done it before and always has a good if not evil reason to do so. He is loved as a villain by so many has a believable and at times emotional backstory and best of all his anger is at times relatable. Who here hasn’t been ignored or pushed aside even though you’ve had great ideas and wanted to throw that anger it peoples faces? While people will say ‘oh he died’ that’s not confirmed and would be even cooler with a great ’this is who I escaped! story to go along with a run.
7. Unless she has some mind blower ending to all this nonsense it will have been months of pointless patches and story that went nowhere. I know some people like her and that’s fine. I liked her at first to removing the horrible writing of her backstory and the copout plot. But over time we just keep getting the ‘wait and see’ build up for things that make no sense and no one wanted to begin with.
If you like her that’s fine, but this has gone on long enough. I would love it Anet listened to it’s players because it’s scary to see posts on tumblr of people down right quitting the game and just giving up.
Aetherblades were actually pretty cool until Scarlol showed up.

I’m not opposed to the character so much as the fact that she popped up out of nowhere, and she’s ridiculously overpowered. I mean come on, graduated ALL of the asura colleges? That’s a bs backstory if I ever saw one.
I also don’t like how she’s behind EVERYTHING. There is literally no mystery to any of the living story. From the moment we hear it announced, we know who’s behind it, and exactly how it will end.
We’ll foil Scarlet’s evil plot, Scarlet will laugh and say she doesn’t care and that nothing we do matters because the devs can come up with another excuse plot for her, and then she’ll disappear for a bit.
After reading alot of the hate The Flamekissed armor got I got to thinking about Anets situation and how they could really make a good change to the game. But first I want everybody to know I understand why your mad at it but at the same time think its a little silly what they should do is remove all the flame armor at the moment and redesign it the Medium and heavy look awful the light was the only good one.Now for the idea I have what if Anet were to start making all the Cultural Armor like that but through the Mystic forge and by that I mean you buy the original Cultural Armor you want then go to The Mystic Forge Then By adding the piece of Armor you want, 5 Ectos, 5 Lode Stones of your choosing, and 50 Thermocatalytic Reagent could change the armor piece to look Fiery,Icy,Electric,Corrupted ,ect and only have that on the Cultural t3 armor for all the races I think this would make the game alot more interesting and people could have a cool look with a little effort. I know this may seem like a big project for ANet but they have put out alot of big projects before and pretty fast at that what do you guys think Id like to hear what you have to say about my Idea and upvote so Anet can see if you like it.
Why is everyone under assumption that Canthan people are doing bad and their Emperor is “evil”? They could have advanced more than Tyria under the isolation, back in GW1 Kaineng architecture was already more advanced than the Tyrian one.
Scarlet is probably the Emperor of Cantha now. I bet she united what was left of the Luxons and the Kurzicks and took over everything. No telling what shenanigans she’s been up to in Elona.
Does everyone truly want Cantha and Elona to be ‘updated’ by the good folks who brought us the Living World?

Since launch I was a big fan of going from GW1 to GW2.
I know those are separate games, classes, mechanics etc…
But world, lore and history are just one and you can’t deny it.
At launch we hot 3 armors from GW1 and I think everyone were sure that we will get more soon, but developers went another way. Many people in comunity almost begged for more armors from GW1, but it didn’t happened. Basically I don’t recall any announcement, but after some time we got newly designed armors when they finally were added to gem store.
I thought, OK it’s a philosophy ‘lets discard old and make only new ones’. I kinda accepted that and though ‘you can make new ones, hopefully you will make them very good’, Many armor skins were really good (maybe aside from heavy armors that would have that knight look on Norn, but I will leave with that).
NOW we for the first time got reused skins. That was a kind of blow for me, cause I see those as a kind of side job made in few hours of work and thats it.
WHAT I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND is why if you have armor designed for GW1, that people for over half of year begged on forums. If you want to add something just reserve time on making it. If you don’t have a design or idea, use GW1 armors that people still want (I’m sure there are more people who want them than only me). Please don’t more of those easy and kinda poor reuses when you have such an amazing catalog of armor in GW1…
I know that there is a lot of work with those, maybe you have to redo the from the start or you have to at least make them scaled and changed for all 5 races instead being only for humans.
Yet, that would really make many people very happy. Everyone would also have a reason to buy them and don’t feel betrayed or cash grabbed.
People still consider those 2 of 3 first armors best designed in entire shop.
For those of you who don’t know that I’m talking about, please visit GW1 wiki, go to armors and look for all the designes. Basically every class has multiple designed armors just for that class. It’s a full closed of armors that have even 3D files that can be used at least as a concept arts.
I like the LS system minus Scarlet, it keeps me entertained but it does not feel as an expansion because it actually creates new characters and conflicts instead of expanding the established lore. I say the LS is a good replacement for the common patches but not for an expansion. I like wow style expansions that add a lot of content (races and maps being the ones I care more), I would like to see both LS and expansions on GW2 going ahead.
WARNING: Do not derail this thread with discussions about armour practicality, video game realism, what you personally think about skimpy armour or the people who wear it, and so on and so forth. It is irrelevant. Multiple perfectly legitimate feedback threads have been trashed as a result of this, and I don’t intend to let it happen with mine.
Problem: Armour diversity and choice is sometimes arbitrarily restricted by character sex.
Suggestion: For future armour sets, keep the following design maxims in mind:
1) The armour set should look aesthetically very similar on both character genders. Minor detail changes are okay, but as an overall rule of thumb, they should look like they belong to same armour set. Key defining features of the armour set should be present on both versions (e.g. if there’s a particular motif, or mantle design, or design shape/flow/pattern going on). If there has to be variation, it would probably be much more appropriate for it to be based on race, because the charr get short-changed so often with humanoid armour basically just stretched to fit them.
2) The armour set should not be more revealing on one gender than it is on the other. Revealing armour is okay. Showing flesh is okay. But keep it generally equalised.
If the concept/design with one armour set for one gender becomes divergent from the other gender’s version based on these two design maxims, split them into separate armour sets. This could mean keeping the variant aside for later release as a separate armour set, or introducing armour set variants in some way, shape or form (discussion on which is welcome).
Why this is important:
I have this wicked idea for a armor campaign preferable some of these sets would be added to the game not just the gem store.
Every 1-2 months for 12months they would release a set of GW1 armor into the game.
1 Heavy
1 Light
1 Medium
They could even turn this into a huge event and have us vote on what we wanted as a campaign to get old GW1 players to come back and give it a try and get some much needed positive hype about the game started.
I might be mistaken but I would think having the basic concepts it wouldn’t take the art team to long to whip up each set of armor.
Anet you need to work with people who went out and bought the flamekissed armor on the first day before you pulled it. you NEED to get their input and work with them since you are screwing them over.
my suggestion is send out a poll with a screenshot or render of the new armor look to ONLY those that bought the flamekissed armor to make sure they like the new concept. Anyone who didn’t buy this armor already should have no right or say in the matter as they don’t have the investment in the armor that those that bought it do.
I’m not quite sure how it works with Christmas, since I’m Muslim, but see, when Eid (holiday) comes around, each person dresses in their best clothing that they have. We put on henna. We get ready. When Eid day arrives, in the morning, you see Muslims of various cultures sporting beautiful traditional cultural clothes.
The suggestion I wanted to make was having each race have a cultural version of clothing they would wear on Wintersday. Their best clothes. Looking nice on such a wonderful occasion.
Maybe the sylvari have grown poinsettia leaves or white leaves with light golden glow on them?
Blue and robes for Asura. Maybe a floating hologram snowflake on their hats. Glowing lights?
Elegant robes of similar colors for humans. Soft fluff on the ends. Maybe a white rose in the woman’s hair, and a similar white rose on the front pocket for the men. A golden cane?
Frosty dragon helm for the charr? Armor etched with frosty designs. A crystal snowflake to decorate their tails with?
White reindeer fur cloaks for the Norn? Another frosty dragon helm or reindeer horns.
I don’t know. It’d be nice to see though.

kitten , all those great armors in GW1. I wish they’d just use those instead of re-skinning GW2 ones. Would’ve saved them a lot of trouble if they did that instead of the T3 human cultural for sure.

I bet 90% of them don’t even use a cc on there store,yet us ppl who do are going to get punished because of them.
I bought the armour because i liked it,i did not like the other amours in the past so never bought them.
also two of my chars have had many transmuted looks on them before this new armour was put on them.
so if i don’t like the new armour i lose out on money as well as my looks on the amour i had before hand, as it will revert back to the orig armour before the transmutation.
The simple way is ppl who bought get to keep it now, it simple as that.
we should not be forced to change it now and lose out because some kids who don;t even use a cc in anet store starts crying.
Tbh anet will lose a lot of paying customers,if the paying customers gets **** over.
Because i will never use my cc again.

Flash back armors, Elite Gladiator, Elite Druids, Elite Iceforged/Stormforged, Elite Kurzick for warrior, monk, ranger, Obsidian armor for paragon, ele, assassin.
In general:
Light armors: PANTS
Medium armors: NO COATS
Heavy Armors: MORE SKIN
The flamekissed armor for medium and heavy are still in the gem shop. They clearly resemble pre-existing armor as well.
They need to be redone as well. Hell I can get invaders armor skin and dye it red and orange for my medium armor.
Please take them out and do a better job.

And PLEASE! NO MORE SCARLET! No more! -cries- I’m tapping out! I’m done! I cannot participate in Living Story the way it keeps tweaking and tweaking the game and the lore to its needs. Every…single…patch… I’m just worn out. I feel no more motivation to log in and play this charade in a circle anymore.
And the scary thing, Anet? I’m not the only one who feels similar. Not every single bit of my post is going to be agreed with, but I think I speak for a majority of the current playerbase when I say: please, enough is enough.
Please take stock of your game’s quality at launch, and at present. Please take stock of where your devs are headed with this game. Please see how upset and confused you’ve made the players, and how exhausted we all are of this cycle. I apologize for the blunt criticism, I only want this game to revive its former glory, and head back in the direction we all hoped for. I want what’s best for this game, its world, its community. And I don’t believe it is going that way.

A cartoon villain. Always behind every little thing, always commiserating in the background, super devious and evil and unstoppably powerful, and yet she’s thwarted every weekend. But lo, she always gets away! And she comes back next week with ANOTHER devious, evil plan that will destroy the world! I’m just not interested in her motivations, or some half-hearted, kinda-really-unfitting explanation for why she’s up to no good.
I’m sorry but that’s the feeling I get from the Molten Alliance, the TOXIC alliance(Hmmmmmmm………), the entirety of her character and every evil plot she’s been involved in. (The Aetherblades were awesome, but again, this was before we realized the connection) You guys will be fine, you just made a mistake. You goofed. The gamble didn’t pay off. It’s okay. We’re only human. We can forgive you, if you’ll just stop pushing so much content with her and give us a moment to breathe. For the love of Big-Nosed Ted, just give us a breather.
Enough Scarlet. I beg you. Let’s go back to the magic of the game we had at the beginning, which is one of the most visually stunning, wide-open, exploration-friendly games I’ve ever seen outside of sandboxes. And even compared to those games, kitten this is fun! Dragons, oh my! Dead gods awakening, oh my! Power struggles and intrigue! The possibility of revisiting old areas from the first game, and seeing what has happened in our extended absence. Think of what’s been going down in Cantha and Elona and —- endless, fulfilling, INTERESTING possibilities.
Which brings me to my two pleas to you ArenaNet: No more temp content. I don’t mind if we never see an expansion, or if EVERYTHING isn’t kept from month to month, but please. This is just a super-depressing, demotivating business model that saps any will of mine to log in, because I’ll have three days to accomplish everything, and might not even get that much regular time in.

Okay guys—honest. You made a mistake. You thought you’d introduce a nice, clever arc about a character you believed we’d enjoy. But we didn’t. We REALLY didn’t. And I understand that this content has been in development for awhile, so there’s a bit of delay between that and release. But at a certain point you have to be in a position where you KNOW you’re just working on something that is going to hurt your player base, upset them, and just need to stop and perform some emergency surgery on it to save its life. Sometimes even cut the content altogether. Quality assurance, aye? Sometimes you have to know when enough is enough.
Look, you’re not bad people, I’m certain. Absolutely sure of this. You’re just as passionate about games as I am. I’d probably love to sit down at a burger joint and BS about retro gaming, and Star Trek vs Star Wars, and all sorts of gloriously geeky topics with you, for hours. You guys made a mistake, it’s okay, you’re human. It’s not the end of the world, the end of yours, or ours. Life will go on.
But we don’t want any more Scarlet. Even her fans are starting to get a little tired by how frequently she’s incorporated in every single thing in the game, to an absurd degree. It’s being force fed to us with every patch. Scarlet is involving herself in EVERYTHING, even things she literally could not have physically been involved in I’m guessing. Would she have traveled back in time in the Abbadon fractal, should that have won? Gone with Garrosh to tame Abbadon and ride him into the gates of Valhalla and toilet paper Odin’s drinking lodge? Races that cannot and will not ever work together, but they do. Impossible incongruencies with the established setting and lore(graduated all three colleges anyone? We haven’t forgotten that one, and what it originally said). And on top of it all? She doesn’t feel interesting.
From a player’s perspective, I am not motivated to participate in content involving her, even if it is pushed towards my face every time I log in. She does not interest me, she is not captivating or memorable, only infamous. I do not enjoy her character, I do not enjoy the content made for her, or altered for her, and I personally feel that she does not fit the setting at all. If you guys had implemented her in a separate game built around that character, she’d do fine. She would fit the setting of such a game! But she does not fit Tyria as the game existed at release. Her arc has spiraled out of control into, quite bluntly, saturday-morning-cartoon-villain fanfiction levels of absurdity. Because that’s what she is.

We deserve an apology for Scarlet’s existence and inclusion in / invasion of the Living Story all year long.
We payed for a game about the Elder Dragons.
We did not buy a game with Scarlet’s face on the cover, yet we may as well have.
I won’t be logging in again until we get a formal apology and are assured that Scarlet is done with or very soon to be done with. If she is all we have to look forward to for another year, I am so far past done. That is all.
