Soulbound to Charactername

If there is an item in the bank with the red line of text, “Soulbound to another character” could you please change it to state the name of the character? You’d have to have it anyway to compare to the character accessing the bank and it would help those of us with many characters and little memory.

Thanks!

More players can join it, without a (for most) boring waiting time.

As we can probably agree on, Teq is the most difficult worldboss we have right now (especially compared to other world bosses) This is fine as it is good to have a real challenge however, it means that it will take some time with a random group to get things right so we can take him out.

Main problem is that Teq has no pre event and a 30 min spawn window. So basically if you want to make a chance for him, you have to group up way in advance and wait there for him to show. Then if you fail, you learned a bit, but you need to wait around 1,5-2 hours to have a next attempt….

Just giving him a pre event that needs a group to complete makes it better so you can call everyone when the pre is up, so you have a nice group to take him out. This since waiting around the place for him to spawn if fun for 2-3 times but gets pretty boring after that for a lot of players, especially if the chance for success is still low.

It would be even MUCH better, if TEQ with pre event would follow the same setup as the karka queen / orr temples, so that if you fail to kill TEQ, you can redo the pre event immediately and try again. Of course when TEQ is defeated he will need some time to recover and will not spawn again for 1,5-2 hours like now. The pre events however should just continue like with the ones from karka queen/orr temples to prevent farmers from trolling during the TEQ battle (with the 6 turrets playing a key role, trolls are a problem). Make it a meta event and add a notice like we have for karka queen that TEQ is recovering or so, so everyone can see that he will not spawn at the end of the event line.

I think this would at least make it more fun for the less experienced players to join a TEQ fight and it will help players learn it much faster. This would hopefully bring back some more players for this great world boss that now on most servers stands alone or faces/consumes a few pass by and pose no threat to him at all, for 15 min before going back to sleep for 1,5-2 hours.

And I think that also for the lore he earns a pre-event. Jormag has his corrupted shards, The Shatterer is nice and waits till we have gathered our siege weapons to fight him, but TEQ just show out of nowhere.

I hope with this change Teq will get the attention from more players which he deserves.

There are carts in this game, and they’re clearly made to be pulled by an animal (or centaur), but you never see one hitched up to them. I think they simply don’t have a way to do it and make it look/move right.

While it would make sense that it should be happening, the work needed to make it happen “on camera” is likely on par with the work to add a new weapon to every class. If so, I’m okay with it only happening “off camera” for now, so they can add more important features to the game.

Guild wars 2 is a pretty good game. I think there’s a few changes that can be made, but overall, its well made, the gameplay is active, and it feels like there’s usually stuff to do. The story is immersive and the world is believable, except for one glaring exception:

Mounts! And I’m not talking about player mounts. If Arenanet wants to keep players walking, that’s fine. Being able to pull equines out of one’s nether regions on command has always been an odd feature of other MMOs anyways.

The thing is, from a world experience perspective, it’s absolutely loony that no npc has ever thought “You know, that animal runs pretty fast, I’mm sit my behind on it and let it do the work.” Its just one of those technological things that comes with civilization. You craft metal pointy things and someone runs someone else through with it, you cut down trees and make shelters so you’re not getting rained on. You have a strong tame animal, you hitch it to wagons and sit on it and let it do the work.

Its just a glaring hole that animals aren’t used in such a way in GW2. I mean they put things to haul on dolyaks, but they didn’t think of putting themselves on one? It doesn’t make sense. Its fine that horses seem to not exist, but Asura could easily ride moa, and there’s some expertly trained moa. Its impossible that a race that has figured out laserguns never thought to plop their butt on an animal so they don’t have to walk.

There’s a lot more of animal powered things that should be commonplace in such a world, and simply don’t exist, and that’s crazypants. NPCS should get mounts.

forget this…

the only class that fits to any martial artistical gameplay is the THIEF..
Hello, they even have a trailine thats called ACROBATICS >.>

lol samurai..forget this too in a game, that turns assassisn into thiefs you surely believe on samurais? come on, get real!! God, these sephiroth katana fanboys…
There isn’t even officially Cantha back and you expect samurais.. oh man a good laugh ^^

However, the best way how Anet could fill up alot of niches with missing class archtypes is to give the game a Sub Class System.

Better can’t you improve GW2’s class system in regard of character progression.
And all this wiothout havign to implement any new separate class, but just by improvign the existing ones by adding more ways to them to specialize into various different paths..

Who in hell needs a seperate Beserker Class, if you could take just the Warrior and add to that Class Berserkers as a Sub Class, which could enhance the basic gameplay features of the warriors with specific berserker mechanics.

Same goes for my suggested 3 options here.

Crusaders could be easily a Guardian Sub Class.
Partizans/Dragoons could be a Warrior Sub Class…

However, bevore Anet adds a ub Class System to the game, I’d like to see too that all basic class archtypes should provide 3 seperate basic classes and all of them should have like 3 sub classes.

By that constellation would have GW2 basiscally 9*3 = 27 different classes based on 9 basic classes, if all 9 would have for example 3 differen sub classe to choose from.
—-

For what do you need extra Bards, when Bards could be so easily a perfect Sub Class for Mesmers, same as like Fencer and Chronomancer as the mesmer already has a kind of timespace touch beign able to create timespace distortions and manipulate time with their elite skill. You could argue in regard of lore, that time magic would be for the lore of GW2 just an improved version of illusion magic, because if there would be really somethign like time magic, who wouldn’t use it to warp themself into the future??? No, time control is for GW2 more somethign like an illusion in my opinion.

Who needs a seperate ritualist, if Ritualists would be one of the most perfect sub classes for the Necromancer!! Both classes are basically occultists, both are based on summonung undead minions just with a differance of mobility Necros also did in GW1 already “blood rituals”

The only heavy class that coukld fill up the gap would be something along the lines of either:

  • A Dragoon (the Halberd using Sky Jumper) / made a very long time ago a concept for that here)
  • A Partizan (similar like a Dragoon but a different more neutral theme and imo that, how Anet should have named the Paragon, because pargon, is ,will be neaver and was name a “class” at all in terms of the word itself, being a partizan is a class in terms of the word)
  • A Crusader
The Crusader could be the counterpart of the guardian that is more dark themed.
Crusader absolutely sounts 1000x bette,r then such childish stuff like Shadow Knight, Dark Knight, Death Knight and so on…
Also crusaders are also a term, that exists already in the lore of GW2.
They are a rank among the vigil currently, but it would also absolutely fit as a class of a soldier type.

All 3 fit perfectly into the class naming scheme of ANet (all class names have only 1 word, not 2 ala dark knight).

All 3 would be unique for GW2 or could be implemented in a complete unique way with features that play out unique in GW2 at least, in regard of the Dragoon, that isn’t so unique, and quite popular only so far among the final fantasy MMo universe…
However, if needed, we could name it also “Lancer”, its the more used and known term for that kind of spear/halberd/lance/glaive/warscythes specialist ect. that is good in using those mid range weapons

Crusaders have nothing to do with religion for the Guild Wars Universe.
If that would be the case, then we surely wouldn’t have this term existign already in the Guild Wars Universe currently as a rank among the Vigil !!

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crusader
Just so that you believe me, ive my facts straight

The best dark themed counterpart of guardians would be just necromancers that get improved by adding swords/greats words to them to give them more melee swordsman like combat skills.

This gives then ANet the opportunity to make out of the crusader something completely unique. However,. in my personal opinion I don’t want to see crusaders in the game as a new separate class, because this would be very hard to implement.

I will always prefer complex and still very easy understandable character progression, so that Anet should improve the game with a Sub Class System, where Crusaders would be then a type of Sub Class for Guardians!!
That would be a much better and easier implementation of the crusader term as a playable class, when they would be just an improvement of guardians.
Thats my ultimate character progression sub class list, where I stronmgly believe in, that it could work out properly when Anet would make something like this to improve character progression in GW2:

Warriors > Berserker —- Legionnaire —- Duellist
Guardians > Crusader —- Augmentor —- Patron
Necromancer > Occultist —- Visionary —- Witcher
Rangers > Hunter —- Strider —- Mystic
Thiefs > Rogue —- Infiltrator —- Saboteur
Engineers > Alchemist —- Artificer —- Pioneer
Mesmers > Chronomancer —- Fencer —- Bard
Elementalists > Runologist —- Sorcerer —- Arcanist
—-NEW—-
Lancers > Dragoon —- Knight —- Partizan > new 3rd Soldier Class Line and the only new separate class line that GW2 basically nededs to make all 3 class type even in their amount of basic classes.
Everythign else in relation ship to class mechanics, class archtypes ect. could be then easily implemented through the sub classes.

If there is a new heavy class introduced i would like it to be the opposite of the guardian in the sense instead of holy magic you got dark magic.

Undead curses and such.

More not well thought out stuff..

If you want something like that what you are typing her,e then play a Necromancer and suggest towards ANet, that they should improve this class in future by givign them new skilsl through addign new weapons like swords & greatswords.
Thats everything needed to make out of the Necromancer the counterpart for the Guardian.

Not every melee class must be always a sword swinging character in a heavy armor.
You can just also have that dark theme swordsman with a necromancer if Anet would just improve that aspect of the Necro by adding new skilsl to them that favor more the real melee combat for Necromancers.

They don’t need heavy armors >.> They have Death Shroud which works currently for them like having a secondary health bar. They are also in fact the class, which has the most base hp of all classes at the moment and have additionally a trait, that gives them a WHOPPING +400 Defense Power, when channeling their skills, so while using spells.

Necromancers are the perfect basic class to them them elvolve via a sub class like the “Witcher” into a dark gothic themed melee style class that wields swords and great swords, like Geralt, the Witcher does…

This sub class list is a fully fleshed out concept. Something that GW2 is currently heavily lacking in in regard of character progression, that truly feels like that you progress with your character further developing and advancing their skilsl and talents further to a next level where all the 8 classes that we have now so far feel only like beign simple Basic Classes, that provide only just the basics of specific class related features. But nothign truly improved and advanced.
They are nothing where you have to say just outright now:

Woah, this class looks really superior over what it has been x years ago and the plaer truly had to went on a long journey with his character to become with his/her played class, what they are now by choosing a different path of progression in certain class related abilities/talents/traits/skills ect. to become more of a unique character that strives through the lands of tyria on the seek for “their story” to be told one day in legends…

and in such an epic story, a character shpould never stay always exactly the same, like theywere when just being born with absolute 0 character progression from the begin to its end between that long story.

Thats why I think the absolute ultimate goal for anet to give this game the perfect character progression is by giving all of the basic classes multiple sub class pathes to choose from to allow for players to individualize themself more and to progress with their characters in a way, that truly feels like progressing and getting better, unlocking more and more new skills, talents and traits as also new usable weapons for unique sub class related builds.

A redesign of the trait system inti a splitted up trait, ability/talent system together with improvements and changes towards the sigil/rune system to let this game finalyl provide some real complex and still easy to understand and balance character progression that provides the real needed DEPTH in the systems to let us say that this game really has something like character progression at all, because as the game is right now, it truly has no character progression at all.

All you do currently is just unlocking all your weapon skisl within a few battles against low level beginner enemies, getting your elite from level 30 on ward and unlocking a few traits until you are level 80 and then you just stand against the huge wall of gear progression only in this game, because the only way how you could progress in GW2 so far from level 80 onward is only by massive grinding to get every Max Equip with perfect sigils/runes everywhere to finetune your class build…

GW2 has no characterprogression, nothign that really feels like, as like it would be able to fill the gap over a game life of like several YEARS to keep the players interested in playing with those characters, even if you have already seen and done everything with them within the personal story having played through the game story completely with them, there should still then be something, that keeps you playing with those characters.

You never stop learning new things, not in real life, so it shouldn’t be also in a game like GW2. You always progress somehow and be it just new skills, new traits, new talents ect with that you can specialize better your build to fit better to your personal likings of play style with a specific class, or to individualize also just only the looks of effects from skills to make them look more unique.

“Here’s what we believe: If someone wants to play for a thousand hours to get an item that is so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it, that rare item should be differentiated by its visual appearance and rarity alone, not by being more powerful than everything else in the game. Otherwise, your MMO becomes all about grinding to get the best gear. We don’t make grindy games — we leave the grind to other MMOs.”- Mike O’Brien

What happened Anet? You said you didn’t want it to be a grinding game but it is and with more updates that you come out, you are not lowering the grinding of the game but you’re increasing it. Example? Ascended Weapon. The new halloween weapon.

I’ve grinded so much in this game its unbelievable spending over 400g to try and get dusk with no luck, farming hours and hours with no luck, and it is coming to the point where the only thing which is farming champs is becoming boring. I have 6 level 80s and sometimes i have nothing at all to do. I have no legendary but thats because i dont want to spend hour and hours grinding for it. I would do it if it wasn’t such a bore to do.

Please please please make this game less grindy like you said you would!

Hi All,

Recently we spent some time discussing the concept of collaborative development with some of our community. The thread can be found here:

[url]https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Collaborative-Development/first[url]

We talked about rolling out a new process in which over a set time period we can discuss design philosophies behind the main components of Guild Wars 2.

The first part of the plan is for you all to list the top three sections of this area of the game that you would like to discuss:

For example for PVE your list might be:

1: Living World
2: Roleplaying
3: Ascended items

After a couple of days we will choose the number 1 topic in each area and then create the threads within the specific areas for us all to discuss, brainstorm and share our opinions on.

So I join for a month, then loot the TP for as much as I can then go back to a standard account? Sounds like a great way for players to cheat Anet. On the other hand, you pay a monthly fee and end up paying far more then you would if you just purchased the items outright?

Feedback Integrity Deserves Design Integrity

There has been a massive outreach lately by developers in an effort to bring the amount of forum misconduct and abuse to an end. I appreciate the sentiment as I frequent the forums often and try to be helpful when I can, and critical when necessary.

I am not attempting to justify the insanity that takes place here so often, but I think the frustration that evolves into flaming is so evident that current systems in the game need to be looked at. The biggest disappointment as of late is the reward system for the holiday event.

I wrote about this in a post on the Halloween sub, but I want to use it again as it is a great example of current systems not living up to design paradigm.

In a recent interview at PAX, a developer spoke passionately about how they strive to implement anti-grind rewards, and how playing the game at a normal pace should be enough to gain the player the rewards they want.

This halloween event completely shades that line of thought. You cannot receive the new rewards by normally participating in the Halloween event at an even pace, because they are locked in RNG boxes. This is not an attempt to call out the development staff. It is a legitimate question, that, given the tone set in the short segment of the interview, as well as the recent strive for collaborative development, deserves attention so that players can begin to understand the path Guild Wars 2 will continue traveling. -

How do RNG based, gem-store exclusive rewards fit the philosophy of normal play being the most rewarding method of acquisition?

Current DR hurts more than helps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

DreamOfACure.4382

I have never even encountered DR in regular zones. Only dungeons.

How exactly were you guys playing?

There’s 0 good reasons to have DR in this game to begin with-snip-

Actually, the point is to make playing in an area more realistic.
If you play in an area for X amount of time, then the rewards SHOULD reduce because the area’s resources deplete.

Disagree all you want as a player, but it’s a good DESIGN reason.
Design trumps Player-whims every time (especially since the Designers are the ones in control).

Fix that and you’ll fix open world PvE and Potentially WvW as well.

Removing DR would only cause people to flock to specific areas with the easiest/highest reward:effort ratio. (Orr-frenzy all over again)
It would not improve PvE, just cause it to drop further

  • popular zones will be constantly full
  • other zones would become more desolate than they are already.

ArenaNet has already started progressing in “fixing” PvE

Example 1:
Twilight Arbor’s new path has chests that require Aether Keys. The pieces that make those keys will only be available from 2 specific zones now.
Those Aether Key pieces creates a niche reason for players to go to that zone – And equally so, get players in the zone to visit the TA dungeon area.

Hello Everyone,

I joined the Guild Wars community during the recent free trial and was quickly hooked. A couple friends of mine play (or did play) and have been suggesting I try for months, the free trial is what pushed me to make the leap. So thank you very much for bringing forth the option!

Definite perks (according to me):

-No subscription
I come from a very large MMO (it seems taboo to name in these forums?) with a subscription attached to it. I had a couple of such subscriptions and never really thought twice about it. It’s quite cool being able to pay for the things I want (yay endless mining pick) or just skip extras and still have a fantastic game I only paid forty five dollars for.

-Regular patches, additions, events
In my two weeks of playtime I’ve already seen many dev posts, two events and two what appeared to be general game updates complete with class changes. This is a lot for no subscription!

-Transmutation and general “play dress up”
Very much enjoying the variety and styles of clothing available. Having the option to keep my superior stats and still have lovely, eye pleasing apparel is highly satisfying. On this note, I would really love to see some female Asura clothing models. It was so disappointing to realize my amazingly cute Asura shared clothes with male Asura, and honestly they looked fairly drab and boring in comparison to the other female options (Norn, Sylvari, Human). I switched over to a race with nicer clothes for now, but the Asura were my first love.

-Huge variety in ways to gain experience
This is probably tied with playing dress up as my favorite aspects of Guild Wars 2. I level without even meaning to! Experience can be gained in almost every conceivable manner. I gain experience while doing dynamic events, helping NPC’s, exploring, crafting, gathering, doing WvW. It’s possible my Norn ranger gains experience just passively existing, but I’m not positive on that yet. :P (Yep, I play a ranger with a longbow and bear companion! It’s been brilliant for mostly solo play so far.)

Those are my highlights. I could go on about the beautiful game atmosphere, the fact that crafting my own gear is actually valid, the frustrating yet fun jumping puzzles and much more that I enjoy. This is good for now.

Thank you for the excellent game, keep up the great work!

PS. I wouldn’t mind having a go at the endless wood chopping axe. It was gone by the time I arrived. Maybe these will return someday?

PPS. Why did my dollar sign get changed to the word kitten in my preview?? I had to type out the amount, haha.

I know Champ Farming is profitable.

I know TP power trading can earn you 100g/day easily.

But, why do you think some people wouldn’t do that kitten all day?

Because, I am not playing Atari Economy Simulator 2014.

Some people actually enjoy walking around in open world, killing monsters, helping low levels kill that tough veteran/ champ, witnessing the brilliant art direction in certain parts of the maps, or… oh I don’t know, playing the kittening game?

Some people enjoy gathering mats because it satisfies their desire to see more of the game in the way it was meant to be played. That intrinsic value has sentiment garnered to the individual – you have no right to define what other people enjoy, doing so makes you look so arrogant.

Sure, maybe I am wasting my time chopping for Soft Wood Logs instead of killing the champion rotations in Frostgorge Sound. And maybe you’re right in saying that people aren’t exactly earning those assets for free if they have to spend their time to get it. But there are a plethora of reasons as to why people do what they do, despite those actions being converse to making the most amount of money in a short interval of time. Maybe, some people in this game open their GW2 program to have a good time surrounded by people who care for them.
