I see the game split between two sides:
Two things.
1. Fun is a buzzword unless you explicitly describe what is it you’re enjoying.
2. Holy polarity batman. What about the people who finished all the content and grind their way towards their endgame reward of choice?
The fun crowd plays towards their endgame reward of choice without grinding. You would be flabbergasted to find that most people actually aren’t affected by DR because they don’t do the same thing over and over like a lobotomized goldfish.
People who play for fun have no idea what this whole DR fuss is about. GW1 did have DR too and guess what … the best way to earn gold happened to be playing the game legit. Doing dungeons, missions and getting titles netted me thousands of plat without breaking a sweat.
So DR is just the same as saying “you’ve been playing this game for 3 hours, please take a break”.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
I really enjoy leveling my alts, but I am an explorer at heart. My main character has 94% world completion (only missing diessa plateau and the WvW areas), and I dread the day she hits 100. I wish I could reset the world completion somehow and start over, but that is where my alts come in.
I can make leveling as fast (with crafting using the mats I gather on my main) or slow (by slowly exploring each area) as I want to, and I can make it as hard (by visiting areas slightly higher than my characters level) or easy (doing the starter maps) as I want to.
Leveling and outfitting alts is easier than leveling your first character, because I now already have the money and materials not to worry about gear. And even doing areas I have done before, I discover new things I had not seen the first time, so to me, replaying those areas does not feel old.
Maybe they include new profession related skins?
Eh, I’m personally hoping it’ll just be gear that’s cosmetically themed around the different professions, and you’ll get a random piece.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
That’s one thing I like about the Risen… they make me hate them. Much more absorbing than fighting something with total indifference.
Oh god… OH GOD! MY BRAIN! Anyone has a time machine I can borrow?
OT, I love these new features. The open world is really the best thing Guildwars 2 has to offer. And with these rewards, achievements and activities for the community, it will make this game much much stronger.
And the Spectator mode in the horizon? Oh yes! I don’t have to PvP, but I sure would love to watch 1337 players duking it out!
I pretty much do just what I’ve done since I started playing this game:
Whatever strikes my fancy.
That is to so… I don’t have a set plan, don’t feel the need for one… and don’t want to schedule things to be done during my play time. I log in and let DE’s take me wherever they would like to take me… crawl into caves when I pass them… jump into a dungeon when someone in my guild invites me… kill dragons when I know one is up… start random costume brawls… work on map completion when I happen to pass through one I haven’t finished… jump into wvw when the fancy strikes me… jump into keg brawl (would love to see some more mini games added)… I adore the jumping puzzles…
In fact… I prescribe to the Dirk Gently method of holistic navigation… I sometimes look for an avatar that looks like it knows where it is going and then I follow it.
Everything on a whim… and I like it that way. It’s hard to get bored when I never manage to do that same stuff 2 sessions in a row.
Yeah, I like hanging around and shooting the poop with people then when it’s time we all go to the fight.
Anise, obviously.
Think of it, she’s a master Mesmer. Clones & Phantasms …
Definitely Anise
Lol, just think of having a Mesmer as a partner….
Menage a tr—-….
I’m usually typing on my phone
I love when players like this expose themselves so I can add them to my block list
To set expectations accordingly, the January release will be a relatively small release that sets the table for the stories and features we plan to roll out with the Feb/March releases and beyond.
Not to be picky, but that doesn’t match up with the time table promised originally.
Mind, I understand that sometimes you need more time for content, and I’m fine with waiting for all of the huge fixes this game needs. My point is more that you shouldn’t promise a time table that you can’t meet.
This is why they hardly ever do give timetables. Even an informal estimate or off-the-cuff remark is often taken as a promise, so realistically the only thing they can do to prevent disappointment is just not tell us anything until it’s 99.9% set in stone. And that makes people upset too, because then the devs are taken to task for not being communicative enough.
I’m actually super glad they’re not dumping a bucketload of new content on us all at once. I’ve still only explored 50% of the map and I’ve played for almost 1000 hours.
I would like a bit of a break to just PLAY the game and not have to worry about dealing with some new event of lots of new content, etc.
I’m still confused how people honestly thought:
a) that the exploit in question wasn’t an obviously unintended effect
b) that they could perform this exploit hundreds of times and then claim they did nothing wrong
c) that they wouldn’t be punished with permanent bans, even though previous exploits were treated the exact same way
Seriously. There’s all this fuss about how it’s a “surprise” and how no one saw it coming, which is a blatant lie. The last time there was a large-scale exploit in the game, the top offenders (those who performed the exploit hundreds of times) were permanently banned.

Seriously. This isn’t new. Stop pretending that you didn’t know the rules of the game or the consequences for exploits.
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.
- An Elite Skill to summon nude drunk Norn women
Yeah they’re very difficult to report, they appear to be the new bots of GW2 which are at least less of an eyesore than the packs of ranger clones running around firing in unison, but still annoying none the less and undoubtedly flooding the TP with the excess resources they produce.
This is brilliant game design! Let the people who want to throw a kitten load (yes I typed the word kitten) of money at the game to have whatever they want do so. Their willing sacrifice just funnels money at a company that I want to succeed so that company can keep building more content in a game I don’t have to pay a sub fee for.
Thank you nameless font of cash, for spending more money on this game than I ever will and keeping the company I love in business. Truly, you affect all of us because you allow us to be cheap
If I’m having fun, I win.
Capture the Temple of Balthazar as a guild.
Many people really need those Obsidian Shards for their Legendary. After you capture it, post it all over the internet and people might switch servers for those shards. Players might even thank you for your efforts.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I think it would be pretty cool if people actually bothered to use the search function instead of starting nearly-identical threads every day.
“Bloody double-tap dodge…”
Heard once or twice in Mad King’s Tower, Uncategorized Fractal and similar locations, until you disable it. Then, later, “dodge, dodge, dodge, why the frak won’t you dodge!?” during a fight and you realise you’ve disabled it…

Seafarer’s Rest | Northerner @ Dragon Season
That was a good 5 hours of questing. I really should go to sleep….but first let me do a small bit of crafting with the resources I gathered. Should only take 10 minutes and I’ll refrain from using TC….

It’s F2P
No.
Just to hopefully clarify this.
1) it is B2P (which is to buy the game and you can play it for even and not spend another dime if you so desire.
2) as hinted at above there is not subscription fee required. This is where I feel Vyndetta was referring.
now to reply to the post
Because there are no subscriptions.
It is a return to how MMOs were like before WoW and console gamers ruined them
There is diversity in every aspect of the game and you will see it if you actually take the time to look and listen
I love the DE system especially on the higher maps where you have to do things to affected areas just to get deeper into the map.
This is a challenging and fun game
complaint threads vanish or lock.
plenty of people aren’t okay with many things.
you wont read about it unless youre quicker than “thank you for your understanding”
