Some guy did it in his spare time, part of his hobby. Are you really going to tell Anet employees they have to work on the game in their downtime?

Crafting should be a viable way to make money. Honestly crafting should be the backbone of the ingame economy and not random drops as it is now.

I haven’t seen a game where crafting was profitable at max level. Everyone can learn any crafting discipline. Everyone can learn every recipe. Everyone can use crafting as a way to level alts. Therefore items that are crafted have less value than the materials used to craft. (Think about it, if the finished product is sold for more than the materials, why not just buy the materials and craft it yourself?)

What I would like is weapons and armors that are crafted in the mystic forge to use different base materials than the legendaries. Right now everything good uses corrupted lodestones… and so everything that uses them is expensive.

I’d also like to see some nice items drop for challenging encounters. Make the dungeons relevant.. add optional bosses that are difficult and they have a high chance to either drop an item like this or a good deal of crafting materials (corrupted lodestones for example).

Small in-game details

I like the snippets of dialogue which refer to different quests, events and so on throughout the game. Such as:

Two asura dreamers in the sylvari tutorial talking to each other – one wants to grab a sylvari and chop up him/her. The other jokes, are you going to experiment or make a salad?

Two asura in Lion’s Arch talking to each other – one makes a deep and thoughtful comment about the sylvari and the other says he was going to make a bad salad joke, but now he doesn’t feel like it.

In the opening of the asura personal story, the Inquest has just finished demonstrating a new invention – the floating grisworl. The same device shows up in the human personal story involving the circus. All the crewes from the different asura personal stories are assembled in the area, including Shrieksy, a raptor that hatches during one of the stories.

In the human “home” instance a guard is talking with a woman who is distraught because her young son hasn’t come back from the circus – if a human toon chose the circus option for the personal story he investigates the disappearance.

These are just some little things I’ve noticed… these little continuity details are all over the place.

Berserker > everything else

It IS inappropriate to treat non-Berserker’s gear players as if they were on training wheels, waiting for the final level of “pro-ness” in which they can finally play the game “as intended”, with full Berserker’s gear, getting rid of all of those “needless” stats such as condition damage, healing power, toughness, vitality, etc.

I do not condone bashing those who use Berserker’s gear, because that would be hypocritical-players should use the gear they want, prefer, and works for them, pure and simple. All stats are viable for certain players, playstyles, and Profession/build combinations. DPS is good, but contrary to popular opinion (and I am sure developer’s must agree 100% on this) GW2 is not about “who DPS the most, wins”. That’s a player conclusion that has become popular, not something that was ever intended. So yes, make no apologies about your “zerk” gear, but avoid feeling superior to others just because “you know how to dodge”-PLENTY of people are good players, know how to dodge, and still wouldn’t use Berserker’s gear-it’s a PERSONAL choice, not a proof of “skill”, “zerk” or otherwise.

I mean no offense, and do respect anyone’s wishes to use Berserker’s-why shouldn’t you? But no, it doesn’t make you the better player-it’s just what you like best and works for you.

4 Suggestions from me on this:

1) All DE’s shown on the map from anywhere in a zone (this has been stated but frankly it is the biggest need)
2) Major DE countdown timers (Maw, Fire Elemental, etc)
3) More DE’s should have been multi-part chain DE’s, possibly even zone spanning
4) Major stuff needs to happen, example: A coordinated Svanir/Dredge/Grawl offensive that pushes everything in Wayfarer Foothills back to the starting area, which then results in a counter offensive to push them back. NPC’s would allow for multiple paths (maybe the Vigil lead the charge to get back outposts, Whispers infiltrate Moleberia, and Priory work to minimize damage and keep Joten out of the fight) each giving equal rewards. This culminates in a similar Dome DE but would be far larger with more then one Champ to handle at the end.

Why anet is awesome

They actually listen to their community.

You might not believe me but here are some things you just can’t argue against.

1. Look at the arah gates. They are never closed and the wp is not inside the gates. Thanks Anet.

2. Pve, pvp, wvw all need to be balanced. They are now splitting the 3 to help make all the classes even. Thanks Anet.

3. Dungeons. You want them to be harder? You got it. They are too easy? You got it. You want them revamped? You got it. You need something nerfed? You got it. Now before I go any further with this I’ll just say they only nerfed the things that people really had problems with. Simin and the OLD effigy come to mind. With res rushing removed, the dungeons are focused on skill and not patience. Thanks Anet.

4. Legendaries are too plain you say? No? Well that’s what people WERE saying a few months ago. Now we have giant flying rainbow unicorns and disco balls rolling around in WvW making the place classy and flashy. Loving it. Thanks Anet.

5. New and awesome content like the karka event and the super adventure box. Keeping the game fresh. Even when something bugged out and messed up the event anet came to the rescue with the karka chests in the mail sent to all those effected. Thanks Anet.

6. This game is pay for cosmetics not pay to win. Sure you may not want to have to buy gems with rl money AND you want the skin, well guess what, YOU DON’T HAVE TO! You’re actually able to get everything in this game with in-game currency. Thanks Anet.

7. There is no monthly subscription fee. Without that point I’d never have played this game. Thats Anet.

Now if you go ahead and look at something like league of legends, where the companies don’t give a crap about their players, you’ll realize just how good we have it.

1. Every champion in the game is locked from the player when they start the game. You are able to unlock champions as you go along but in the beginning you’re very limited to whatever they let you play for the first long while.

2. Every other week or so they release a new champion. Problem is, every new champion has been costing 6300, something that is practically unobtainable for the average player. Players were asking since the trend on 6300 on every champion to lower it so the average player could be able to own the character they want to play when they want to play it.
So far Riot has released 2 champions at 7800.

3. Almost all the time, their new champions are release a little op so that everyone would rush to grab it. After a few weeks, they’d balance the class but that’s only after they got their money off the general public.

4. The only possible way to get anything cosmetic in the game is with real life money. There is no in-game currency exchange rate for their goods.

5. The game is pay to win. If you want to get an advantage at the start of any game ala higher stats and such, you get these upgrades from their store (luckily with in game currency) BUT, you only get access to 1 page of these stat upgrades. That’s fine and dandy if you only play one character, but in a game with hundreds, you’ll need multiple pages. THAT you get with rl money.

Tldr, Just happy Anet is not anything like Riot games. Makes this game for fun and less of a chore to play. I don’t feel like I’m going to get left behind if I don’t play for a few days.

Personally i would keep dueling limited to arenas (which could be placed around world) so players can gather to known places and not spam duel requests to first person they see on map.
It could go a step further with some betting system, just to spice things up. Betting is already present in-game, only difference is you wouldn’t bet on cows landing spot, so why not?

I disagree, you don’t need “progression” to make an experience fun and engaging. Chess, checkers, Gin Rummy, Bridge, Euchre, Poker, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, and a host of other activities do not have “progression” as we’ve been discussing it.

But people play those all the time.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

This seems to be the inevitable conclusion when you design your Dynamic Event system around “Everyone who shows up wins a gold medal.”

Those mechanics work well for a certain, infamous kind of Olympics. Not so much an online RPG that encourages you to tweak your character and gear, and strategize intelligently around a wide variety of encounters.

Perhaps its time to rethink what “participation” truly entails.

It’s a bit more complicated than that, if you consider scaling. Maw, for instance, is level 12 content. As it is today, a level 12, with level 12 skills, stands a good chance of bronze at best, even trying to participate in the horde of camped 80s. If you put a participation threshold based upon damage, kills, whatever.. these players will be gated even more.

Contrast to Svanir’s dome, where appropriate level players actually have to work a bit to take down a much harder, mobile boss, for.. a pat on the head and a pittance event reward. Few high level players bother, no chest. Lots of participation for nothing.

Effort has little to do with rewards in GW2.

Ley lines. The perfect solution to deadlines and writers block. Now in an easy open Can.

The last few days my girlfriend and I have made use of the dragon timers for the first time in order to get some of the achievements we were missing.

I never realized until this point how many people camp the dragons for loot.

Standing there for 20 minutes gave me time to ponder this, and in the end I found it very sad. The reason is that you have these epic dragons in the world, but they are reduced to tasks or loot machines.

In my eyes a dragon landing in the role should be an epic event. It should be something that causes word to ripple throughout Tyria, and players to run from all over to experience. Bringing down a dragon should be something that causes everyone to cheer and talk a out for days. And the loot, the sweet loot that should accompany a dragon kill should be sought after and revered.

I understand that ANet wants to give everyone a chance to participate in this content, but these clockwork events are making the game stale.

Take the Maw for example. Does anyone even care about that event? All it takes is a, “Maws up” in map chat and people run the same predictable paths, line up in the same predictable places, and do what they do every day.

I think ANet meets to consider adding some real dynamic content. Content that isn’t on a timer, or in the same place every time. Imagine what would happen if a dragon showed up randomly one day in Queensdale. First, people would be confused and shocked. Second, the word would fly across the worlds so fast it would be amazing to watch.

As more players rushed to participate in the battle, it would become more, and more epic. In the end, IF the dragon was beaten, it would be talked about for days.

I look forward to a day when dragons aren’t on timers.

It’s something we’re absolutely aware of and want to address in the future, one of my main characters is an engineer so I feel ya on this one. My poor quaggan backpack is visible like 2% of the time I play as I kit swap, never mind my weapon skins.

We’re currently focusing our engineering (programmers, not guys with net guns) resources that could work on solutions to issues like kits/skins on major systems that address issues higher priority and wider reaching like lag in large battles, LFG, custom arenas, spectator mode and so on but this issue is absolutely on our radar.

As always, please post your ideas of what you’d like to see solution wise, we love to see the fun ideas y’all come up with too!

Sylvari need - custom/armor/suggestions

This topic is for lovers of Sylvari

Ppl help this topic with suggestions and reply.

I think the Sylvari need more customization on creation and armors inside game.

Hair

-Hairstlyes with flowers, flower petal like hair or vine like hair style like the old Caithe used to have.
- Some long hair maybe that goes down to his back for girls.
-Longer hairstyles for guys. So far they only have short ones and a ponytail looking one. -Guys cold use some long hairstyles made of leaves, something that cascades.
-Cactus-based hairstyles

Link with alot of hairsytes http://www.stonefacecreations.com/HEADGALLERY.html

Faces

-More Faces with plant like flowers and leaves
-and one or two more “generic” faces with less plant features, like Pale Tree face.

Armor

-Start with armor plant at lvl 1.
- More Plant armor and weapon at begin for low lvl for ppl can remodel and play.
Add Cutural tier 0 – simple armor for sylvaris can feel like they should be.
- More Plant based armor for all game, there is jut not enough for a whole race made out of plants.
-Craft: leafy armor and weapon from craft…. not only human style

Pets

-More Pets Plants like cat, bird, bug, butterfly, moth and etc.

Body and hair hehe

-Blue skin with gold freckles and blue or gold hair (blue hair with gold flakes)

PPL give more suggestions and I’ll update this topic here, maybe arena add more contend for Sylvari on game :P

Personally, I wish they would give Engineers the ability to use Rifles. And no, we don’t use Rifles now. We use shotguns that they lazily implemented to use a rifle weapon base. But they are shotguns, no matter how you look at it.

An interesting point, although I look at it from the other perspective; shotguns seem better suited to engineers than rifles. So I’d rather we get an interesting shotgun skin to match those skills. That said I think all of our weapons need another pass to make them viable; as right now it seems a lot of engineers, myself included, seem to feel that our base weapons are simply outclassed by our kits in every regard.

Direct damage = flamethrower
Conditions = grenades
Support = Elixir gun
Control = bombs
AoE = also grenades

Really next to kits our weapons are borderline worthless from a practical standpoint.

One thing most engineers I know agree on.. Legendary Flamethrower. THAT would be awesome.

Well, after months of time, and repeated threads by myself and others, Arena Net has still said absolutely nothing in regards to an issue that is hurting the so called “end game” for many players, and all but killed it for myself. So rather than create another thread in the suggestions sub-forum to be swiftly buried under requests for stupid crap like race changes, mounts, and rifles for the ranger, I’m just going to outline the issue one last time here, and open it up for general discussion to see where the community at large stands, and if Arena Net remains blind to it.

In a nut shell the issue is that to the vast majority of Engineer players those coveted (pretty much sole form of PvE endgame) legendary weapons are completely and utterly worthless. And most haven’t even figured that out yet. I could rant and rave about it, again, but instead I’ll just cut right to the chase; kits. Most engineers use kits almost exclusively, and indeed engineer base weapons are widely regarded as being unimpressive. Because of this all the hard work and time put into a legendary would be completely meaningless because we would never actually use the thing, yet we have nothing equivalent to work for.

What this means is after we’ve done everything, seen all the dungeon paths, and finished our stories we pretty much are better served turning the game off and never touching it again. Unless you like running Fractals (personally I hate endlessly repeating the same dungeon, but to each his own) there is absolutely nothing left to hold you to the game once you finish the story and dungeon content. This is disappointing to most, disheartening to some, and downright frustrating to a few of us.

Ever since day one I was standing up to defend Guild Wars 2 against accusations of “no endgame” and yet now I feel like an utter fool because, at least for me, it actually doesn’t have any. I’m left without a goal or an interesting narrative to keep me invested in the game. Yes I could play an alt, but in all honesty I really just only “kind of like” a few professions, and flat out hate others. Plus I’ve already seen the story, so after level thirty or so the game would be just a re-run. This is unfortunate, and made more so by Arena Net completely refusing to even acknowledge the problem.

Well that’s the issue. That is the main Guild Wars 2 related topic on my mind right now. Discuss.

I have never bought gems to convert into gold, and I am no farming player (I loathe farming with a passion).
You don’t need gold for gear – if you run dungeons you can work toward exotic gear while making gold. Or you can spend karma in Orr. You need gold for travel, but one DE or heart usually is more than enough to cover that expense, so unless you bunny hop all over the maps you should be fine. Same goes for repair expenses.

So I really wonder: what are you spending so much gold on?

I want my vault transport back.

Unfortunately all fixes that punish exploiters, botters, and gold sellers punish the rest of us in some way. This one TBH is minor to me. We didn’t use that feature often, it was just nice to have it there if we wanted to.

It isn’t the specific item that was changed that bothers me, its the way it was changed. Suppose someone figures out how to exploit all the banners? Magic find, karma, etc. Do those get moved out of reach? What about every single guild perk you work towards? Someone, somewhere figures out an exploit so we move them all to a high tier with merits required? Meh, that’s what bothers me. I don’t even care about the guild vault itself.

It’s a kitten conspiracy. Kittens gonna be kittens. All is vain!

the OP needs to examine his definition of “fun” . if all the things he enjoys about playing games are what he likes then he is indeed having fun. Or if he is so used to doing stuff in the game he doesnt enjoy he actually log’s in expecting and acceptuing he isnt going to have fun he needs to have a word with himself about finding a new passtime.

Games should NEVER be work and work cant ever be fun . The old Chinese proverb goes " find a job you enjoy doing and you never need to work another day in your life ""
Meaning the moment you enjoy doing something it ceases to be work and becomes “fun”

The opposite is true as well, which is something many MMO players seem to have lost sight of. That once playing a game stops being fun or if the game forces you to endure hours of non-fun tasks (regardless of the rewards) it ceases to be a GAME AND BECOMES a job or chore.

At which point for me i’m out the door onto the next game.

On the other side of the coin, I find it hypocritical if video games are automatically rejected as antisocial and must be shut off at the drop of a hat, while certain other activities or hobbies get a free pass and are accepted as “normal.”

Consider these scenarios:

1 a) You are in the middle of a dungeon with some guildies, but the wife makes it clear that it’s time to go sit and be quiet in front of your nightly television show that you don’t even enjoy all that much. She knows you can’t just “pause” an MMO, and you’d be inconveniencing your friends by leaving abruptly, so maybe you’ve got some leeway here — but ultimately, “real life comes first” and every minute you delay is only going to land you in hot water.
“Ha ha, gotta keep the wife happy! Sorry folks, hope you can do the rest of the dungeon without me!” I’m not some game-addicted loser!

1 b) Your wife is in the middle of her television show, when you come in and ask her pause the show and come play Guild Wars instead. She says she will in a minute, however after a while it is clear that she is not coming and you are getting annoyed that she is watching so much TV and not playing games with you.
You would be considered a weirdo, and possibly abusive, and anyone would tell her to leave you. It’s just a game, what’s your problem?
______________________

2 a) You have been invited to a party, but it’s not really your kind of crowd so you end up awkwardly huddling in the basement where a few guys are watching Family Guy reruns and having a definitively mediocre time.
Good for you, getting out there! At least you’re not at home on a Friday night! This is REAL LIFE!

2 b) You have been invited to a party, but it’s not really your kind of crowd and it’s on the other side of the city, so instead you opt to sit this one out and play some Guild Wars with your buddies.
What a pathetic shut-in! Only antisocial nerds schedule their lives around video games!
______________________

3 a) It’s the superbowl, ZOMG! Better block off my entire Sunday and call my friends to come over so we can sit around and eat chips and wings and watch men in tights throw a ball around!
This is the greatest day of the year! Hoorah for footballs! Maybe there will be a halftime show with boobs! Sports are important to be excited about!!!

3 b) Some new cool game or expansion is coming out, so you have your friends over for a LAN party.
Pretty sad, guys. As if you’re ORGANIZING video game parties now, like it’s a NORMAL thing people DO! Gross. You are the worst ever, and are probably perverts. Also, other bad things, about YOU, you nerds!
______________________

4 a) Blew $80 on junk food/alcohol last night, at some bar. I don’t remember anything, so I must have had a wicked time! Aaawww yeeaah!! Worst hangover ever, though. Woke up at 3pm and still feel sick. No way I’m going out tonight! LOL!
Ah, the free-spirited energy of youth! Now THIS guy knows how to party! You only live once, and money is meant to be spent anyhow!

4 b) Spent $20 on Gems in GW2, had a few laughs over voice chat last night with your friends. Supposed to go out tonight, though your friend just called and cancelled due to being hung over.
You spent REAL money, on fake virtual stuff in your game?! What a rip off! Don’t you have any better use for your money than that?
