They need to release a bunch of armor sets at once, because if they just add one, EVERYone will be wearing it. Which would be good at a sales standpoint because people don’t have options to pick from but from style standpoint would be saddening.
Hardcore gamer of MMO’s for 10+ years here. I do not like gear treadmills and think they are kitten. This game got worse BECAUSE they added ascended gear, this game did not need time-gated gear progression. Horrible design choice.
No they said the game was for everyone.
Where did you hear that? Because it is completely wrong. Arena Net said from the beginning that there was no endgame, so obviously this isn’t a game for people who demand endgame. Think logically. If you are a player who “needs” a certain type of content, and the developers have stated hundreds of times that that exact type of content was not in the game nor planned to be part of the game, then obviously the game is not for you.

I remember when i though GW2 was simple until I realized that every damage skill has a utility portion as well.
I remember when I used abilities for damage instead of damage mitigation. I remember when I was clueless and didn’t understand that you’re not supposed to cycle skills, but instead use them situationally.
I want to see The Shatterer completely decimate a group, and then progress to take over the entire map unless people band together to stop him. I want to login one day and be told in guild chat that the entire map is lost and we should help try to take it back.
That would be awesome.
What “Living World” should be
I always had a similar idea to make Orr interesting. Right now it’s biggest problem is that you feel like you’re fighting throngs of mindless unchallenging zombies, which you are.
But what if when certain amount of events are completed successfully, the undead that normally spawn mindlessly staring in to space start spawning in lines and regiments. If even more events are completed the undead begin to organize and build their own camps and run strategic raids on the existing pact camps, more advanced units and specific lieutenants and generals spawn. If the pact continues to be successful through the efforts of the players, the undead will organize the games most massive battle on the footsteps of Arah.
If the players fail to stop this army, Zhaitans minions build a city rivaling Fort Trinity right on the steps. If the pact succeeds in stopping them, the pact begins to rebuild Orr while Zhaitans minions try to stop them.

We actually have a world boss event that FEELS like a world boss event and we get people who complain its too hard.
I’m sorry, maybe these people should learn to play as a team. Or maybe use their skills that block/reflect ranged attacks, and along with that learn to use them at the right time. Or use their invulnerability/blocks. Each profession has something to handle this.
If people would stop comparing this content to centaurs in kessex hills then they’d realize that they aren’t supposed to just rush in and unleash the heat so to speak.
For heavens sake, if its too hard for you then don’t go there, there are 20 other easy areas to play in. Leave the hard content for people who enjoy it or are willing to learn to best it.
This event is the most fun I’ve had in GW2 in a while. Bring on the challenges! Bring on zergs of mobs that will destroy a stupid player zerg!
I’ve died plenty of times to a barrage of karka hits or reefe riders, and you know what? Every time it was my own fault!
Keep it as it is.

I think the overall point remains; why do you need a tool to judge a player’s contribution when simply playing with them and observing them should be enough?
Or is it simply to boast how your DPS is higher than someone else?
And I think you may have actually missed my point too; I wasn’t talking now much damage your character did but rather how much damage other player-characters did through the buffs and debuffs applied by you to your team and the enemy.
And it really IS that difficult, especially if you know anything about how condition damage currently works, where all players applying bleeds for example, contribute to the overall stack.
Tell me, how do you accurately measure individual DPS in those circumstances?
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
I have a solution.
Augment humans to have gills. Problem solved.
You are welcome. Goodnight.
Leave it as is. Having some events failing is part of the fun. What the hell is the point of these events if they don’t fail?
I want to see The Shatterer completely decimate a group, and then progress to take over the entire map unless people band together to stop him. I want to login one day and be told in guild chat that the entire map is lost and we should help try to take it back.
I would like to add to this discussion that opinions are not facts, no one has the monopoly on truth, second, that things only seem to be one way to some while the complete opposite might appear to others, in every modern gaming forum people take, in my opinion, things way to seriously, as if their lives depended on having certain assets supplied to some, or denied to others.
Relax people its just a game, is it perfect? for some it is for some it isn’t, rationality cannot be put on hold under any circumstance, and no I´m not a fanboy for GW2, i´m a fanboy of rationality, for me the game is just fine as it is, videogames are just pastimes, not the pinnacle of my life on earth.
So please stop flinging poo everywhere, some would like to think we are amongst equal members of the human race, not a kindergarten for mentally challenged amoebas.
I dont get it, if GW2 is so irritating and lacks so many things, then why are some even here? what keeps the disgruntled, well disgruntled doing engaging activities?
Now more than ever we have thousands of games to choose from besides this , for some wreck.
This is a call for sanity, whatever that means to some of you.
How cool would it be if the last firework show in LA was crashed by a real dragon, kicking off a dynamic event against the dragon and his minions in the city.
I can already picture a charr with angel wings.
and princess wand obvioulsy
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
I destroy the Karma items for the joy of freeing up a bag slot. The mystic toilet brings me no joy at all.
well it really helps to bring in extra profit by un-soulbinding items and turning them into a sellable exotic
I want a flamethrower for my Engineer that shoots out Anet t-shirts and if they land on other players they have -90% magic find for 6 hours.
So people can be kicked from groups because other people are idiots and don’t realise you don’t need perfect build and gear to complete content? It’ll result in people who’ve never played a specific profession passing judgement on others because they think it’s not a good build.
Because my gear is none of your frigging business.
One word: False
I’ve been to malchor’s leap today to get the farmers away from there. What kind of impression do you think you give a new player when he goes to finish a temple event to buy his first ever pair of exotics and gets chased away by people swearing at him, because they want the event not completed and the temple not open so that they could continue getting sweet lootz?
If you want to farm go and do it in places where it doesn’t affect other players or ruin our world. Like the easy to run dungeon paths or go and kill mobs somewhere in the open world. Do not stop events from progressing and do not try to stop people completing them.
Now there’s close to 20 events in the world that give you a guaranteed rare (see ecto and yellow prices – those are falling because of easy to get rares and rewarding world events) the same events have a high chance to drop a unique exotic or a precursor.

Please list other MMOs you’ve played. Then please list out the metrics you used to determine why this game is “the grindiest” (i.e. time required to get BiS for all equipment slots, time to reach max level.)
Then we’ll be able to have a serious discussion.
That’s YOU though. You want to farm. Not everyone wants to farm. I personally hate farming. You can’t state that MMORPG’s are in such a sad state because YOU don’t like what’s happening. That’s presumptuous of you.
With that said, I agree that rewards are low. xD But it doesn’t detriment the gameplay for me, and I still enjoy it. That’s just me though
I focus mostly on PvE. I have to 100% every map I’m in and at the same time continue to perfect my skills and dominate every dungeon with my guildies.
At least that’s what I’d like to say. Most of the time I’m like Morrigan though and get easily distracted by everything happening around me at the time! XP
I also obsessively collect everything and have taken to using my guild’s bank to dump off extra crafting materials I don’t have space for. No one’s allowed to touch it, of course. This is just for viewing pleasure.
I also have tons of dyes and probably spend way more time than I should playing with different color combos. XD
Gemini Man (Mesmer) / Knight Man (Guardian)
Power monger. I wanna be the very best…
(sings): “Like no one ever waaaaaas…”
er sorry I nearly went into a song.
I’m casual-Explorative PvE Altaholic drifter.
I can’t keep objectives down for long term. I tend to float around quite a bit.
I’m the type who would be in Diessa Plateu and do events as I encountered them out of sheer curiosity, somehow get roped into a dungeon because someone had a free spot in Caduceus’ Manor, start escorting Pact soldiers up a Temple in Orr, and this all ends with my poor character naked with broken armor fighting a Blood Witch wondering how the heck did this all happen?
Worse yet, my alts would be right near him replying, “Heck if I know! Did I just slaughter every Moa in the Krytan region while I was active?”
I’m the “let’s do some personal story, hey what’s that, oh look can I get in here, wow that’s a cool looking character, I fell down a hole! there are shiny’s in here, skritt I’m dead. Where was I going again” type of player
Are we cousins, related somehow? That’s scary how similar we are.

Can’t think of any specific weapons, but I think a nifty Elite skill on a 5 hour cool down might be:
Release the Kraken!

Chaotic distracted, I’m right there with you … which makes being a completionist really difficult. Tonight I went into the game saying “Okay, I only have 1 heart, POI and Vista to get in this map to finikitten … all I gotta do is … hey, I wonder what’s happening up here? Can I solo this DE? What happens if I go in here? Ah crap, three hours and I gotta take a break … what was I logging on for again?”
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
To everyone posting “Dontain says” threads: there have already been several threads promoting his video. Please stop spamming the board with new ones. I don’t know who Dontain is, but I’m guessing he’s a Youtuber/TwitchTVer who sent his minions to the four corners of the internet to promote his channel(s). Whoever he is, we don’t need three topics a day telling us what to think about Guild Wars. Most of us, I’m sure, can make up our own minds on the subject. Thanks.
Watched a interview with another MMO producer just now and he said the stats for player interest in MMO’s are roughly;
20% group content, dungeons, raids etc
20% pvp
60!% solo play.
So by that the amount of people playing mostly solo is larger the both of the other (often very vocal) groups combined…..
So offering up OPTIONS for gameplay styles are not a bad thing, unless you are very into that your own way of playing is the only way of playing….
You guys understand that A-Net is owned, and all property produced by them, by NCSoft? They don’t get “put in their place” by A-Net. They can’t “cut NCSoft out of the picture.” It’s not their picture; it all belongs to NCSoft. A-Net is told what to do by NCSoft and they do it. Every nickel they make from the gem store or boxed sales is the property of NCSoft to do with what they please.
All that being said, I love GW2. One for the sheer fact that it’s not like WoW. I have no problem providing NCSoft with my money so they keep feeding A-Net. If GW2 remains profitable, you can be sure they will keep feeding it.
