do they know they fixed it?
But salvaging isn’t unlocked until level 6!
Thanks for the list. However, my stance on the level gating remains the same. It’s a garbage idea that should’ve never been done.
It’s plain animal cruelty.
Maybe the bear was snuggled to death, or died of old age in a comfy cot, surrounded by his bear-wife and bear-kids. Just because the bear has died doesn’t mean he endured a moment of cruelty in his life.
Maybe he even put it in his little bear-will that he wished to continue to roam Tyria with your PC as a constant companion after his death, meeting new challenges and felling foes. Constantly watching his friend’s back. Literally.
Don’t let your twisted perception of this bear’s noble dying wish tarnish the beauty of what he set out to accomplish.

FS is now so far beyond useless it’s ridiculous. It boosts party damage by, what is it, like 1% or so? Compare that to one single application — not even a stack — just 1 vulnerability. Absolutely brutal.
This is kinda long so I’ve bolded the important parts.
Without ICD, frost spirit was a 35% chance of 10% extra damage. So a 3.5% DPS increase.
Traited it was a 70% chance of 10% extra damage, so a 7% DPS increase.
With a 10s ICD, the damage increase varies with weapon attack speed. With a 35% chance to proc, there’s a:
35% chance to proc on the 1st attack
22.8% chance to proc on the 2nd attack
14.8% chance to proc on the 3rd attack
9.6% chance to proc on the 4th attack
6.2% chance to proc on the 5th attack
4.1% chance to proc on the 6th attack
2.6% chance to proc on the 7th attack
1.7% chance to proc on the 8th attack
1.1% chance to proc on the 9th attack
0.7% chance to proc on the 10th attack
etc.
So the median is 2 attacks. The mean if I did my math right (weighting number of attacks by probability, and summing) is 2.86 attacks. So to get the mean number of attacks between FS activations, you take the number of times the weapon attacks in 10 sec, then add 2.86 attacks.
Shortbow (0.5 sec) is (10 sec / 0.5 sec/atk) + 2.86 attacks = 22.86 attacks.
FS will proc on average once per 22.86 attacks, increasing damage from that single attack from 1 to 1.1. Which is a 22.96/22.86 = 0.44% damage increase.
Axe (1.0 sec) is (10 sec / 1 sec/atk) + 2.86 attacks = 12.86 attacks.
12.96/12.86 = 0.78% damage increase.
Those two weapons are the fastest and slowest ranger autoattacks, so represent the range of damage increase for FS. 0.44% – 0.78% damage increase.
Traited (70% chance to proc), the median is 1 attack, the mean is 1.43 attacks.
Shortbow = 21.53/21.43 = 0.47% damage increase.
Axe = 11.53/11.43 = 0.87% damage increase
Traited FS now gives you a 0.47% – 0.87% damage increase.
So yeah, a single stack of vulnerability is worth more than FS now. And traiting spirits will get you a whopping 0.03%-0.09% extra damage.
This goes back to a longstanding complaint I had about spirits in general and FS in particular. The method by which it increases damage is unnecessarily complex. Why a 35% chance for a 10% chance to proc? Why not just make it improve damage by a flat 3.5% and call it a day?
I suspect the original designer carried over the 35% chance and 10s ICD from the other spirits, then did the math I did above and found out the spirit basically does nothing. So he “fixed” it by removing the ICD, but didn’t document in the code why he removed it. A new programmer was probably assigned to fix old bugs, saw the ICD was disabled on FS, and re-enabled it without understanding the effect it would have.

So… what in the gem store is necessary in order to play the game?
If you have issues with BLCs simply throw them away when you get them. It is not really that hard. I also seem to recall them lowering the drop rate quite a bit, so it should be even less of an issue nowadays.
I have gotten plenty of rewards in-game, while none in the gem-store. But I suppose that is all a matter of opinion. In my eyes, getting something for doing something is a reward. Simply buying something is not.
I get that you dislike the gemstore (you have been complaining about it since before release I seem to recall) but you are making it more of an issue than it actually is. It is fully possible to experience and enjoy the game and completely ignore the gem-store. But you prefer to see the gem-store in everything and thus it creates and issue for you.
And the fact remains. Without the gem-store we would most likely have much of a game left to play now. At least we doesn’t (as of yet) have pure OP and/or gamechanging things in the store, as we had in GW1.

So i was wondering, why collecting 5 legendaries give the same amount of AP and NO title compared to having twice the same legendary? That seems to make no sense to me
Because the others cried harder. You need to cry with more passion
I had initially thought I’d want to lock this thread. At this point, I’ll leave it open. However, here are some guidelines:
- We’re not going to say “this infraction will get a warning” and “that infraction will earn a suspension.” Please don’t ask that.
- We’re not going to get into a philosophical discussion about “If you’re warning about XYZ, then you are required to warn about ABC.” Just… don’t go there because any form of warning is a kindness, not a requirement.
- Any mention of “Freedom of Speech” or your other constitutional rights, or a citation of legal action, will be smote with my Bow of the Mighty Slaughtering of Fools. But then, I always have that bow at the ready.

I’ll go ahead and play this game. The “screenshot” you’ve provided while “awesome”, doesn’t discount the fact that no one in this screenshot has been actioned. You are posting on the forums, which is a clear indication that you are not banned. None of the people in this party chat are banned. So while the “Legit” is being put into say (according to this screenshot), no action was taken against anyone here.
I know you wanted to post a screenshot of an account being banned, but you are posting a screenshot from the launcher back in 2012. We are on build 38057 not 15377.
My guess is that the GM was putting into question the validity of the tactic being used, but did not action as there was nothing against the rules.
I’ll go ahead and supply the screenshot that the GM took in context of this text. GM Stuffs and Character Name of person in question are blurred (sorry!)

“Safe Spot” – Standing in a location to hold aggro or attack a monster/boss while it is unable to damage you (basic attack) and does not leash back to its original starting position.
This is an abuse of a geometry and/or pathing bug, and is considered an exploit.

To me, it is, with all respect, the unforgiving mass of players that don’t want to assist new players into the game, so that one day they have the same skill as the one kicking them from party. The elitists in diva behaviour, AP-checkers, the verbally abusive towncriers and commanders obey-me-or-uninstall folk, that are pretty much making every map or event, unwelcoming for the new and uninteresting for the veterans.
No. Just no.
Look at DnT’s website and youtube channels. Full of guides and videos. Look at [rT]. Comprehensive class guides on dulfy. [KING]. Videos. Wethospu. GW2Dungeons.net. Dungeon Mentors [Noob] guild. This community is all about helping others improve. They just won’t take it. Then the excuses responses we get when offering help in game too:
“Man it’s just a game stop taking it so seriously”
“Kitten off with your stupid advice”
“I didn’t ask for help you kittening kittenkitten”
“You think you’re better than me, giving me advice?”
“I play how I want”
This game caters to a casual crowd. It’s okay, we get that. They may not enjoy playing with us, and some of them have yet to realize a lot of the more dedicated players won’t enjoy playing with them.
We say, okay, we’ll establish our group as not casual, and they’re free to have/start their more casual groups too.
They say, OMG DISCRIMINATION CALL 911 CALL YOUR LAWYER CALL OBAMA

Game over, yo.
What are we working on right now? Feature Pack 2 (in ~two more weeks), Season 2 of the Living World (coming back this fall), the WvW Fall Tournament, and the World Tournament Series PvP global tournament are just some of the things we are currently working on that we can tell you about right now.
After the end of the tournaments, the game will be the same since it was released!
Players really want:
- New Dungeons/Fractals
- New Dungeon/Fractal Rewards
- PvP modes/maps
- Guild Halls (GvG)
- New Legendaries
- New Weapon and Armor skins (No RNG)
- Precursor Crafting
Please, stop tournaments and living story, We want more permanent content!
We’ve spent years asking and you don’t listen us!
Thanks for reading and responding.
After thinking about this I feel like many of you think that every dev should have complete understanding of every aspect of this game. And my gut reaction is to say that it is unreasonable to expect that from us, after all Guild Wars 2 is a huge game, and even now I am still discovering new things in it. And whether or not it is reasonable to expect that, it is not that I don’t have complete understanding due to a lack of trying. I mean sure I only spend about 20 hours a week on my own time playing Guild Wars 2, this does not include the time that ArenaNet sets aside for all of their employees to play the game, and sometimes it can be hard to get through jumping puzzles, fractals, WvW, activities, sPvP, dungeons, tPvP, living story, Hot-Joins, crafting, guild missions, ect with only a finite amount of time each week to play. I could probably cut more time out of playing other games, enjoying my hobbies, working to improve my programming ability, trying to maintain friendships and spending time with family to play more Guild Wars, but right now that isn’t something I am willing to do. So instead I’m just going to understand that some players are going to see problems that I don’t. And ask them for as much information I can so that the problem can be identified and fixed. And I appreciate that our players understand this as well and are willing to bring these problems up in a polite and respectful manner.

What does this tell you? That there are not enough people doing the Fractals.
Uh, by that logic..
You need Foxfire Clusters for the finished LS backpiece. What does this tell you? That there are not enough people harvesting Elder Wood and Ancient Wood nodes.
You need to do the JP in Frostgorge for the finished LS backpiece. What does this tell you? That there are not enough people doing Jumping Puzzles.
And so on and so forth.
They decided that for the final version of this back piece, people would need to participate in almost all facets of the game. I’m actually a bit surprised that there isn’t a World vs. World requirement involved, something like the “run to the middle part of Edge of the Mists” thing that we did for Taimi’s golem when EotM was introduced. If you don’t want to do Fractals, then you don’t have to do Fractals, just remember that the people who don’t want to do Jumping Puzzles were thus locked out of the back piece a lot sooner than you were.
I will never get the fascination with charcoal sylvari, or burnt twigs as I tend to call them if I’m in a slightly meaner mood.
For me a plant has to be colourful, vibrant. Otherwise its a dead plant.
And before someone piles in with “but it’s a necromancer”. Well commonly the necromancer herself isnt dead/undead, just a practitioner of magic involving the dead/undead. There are cases where they count among the undead themselves, but at least not in guild wars, as far as I know. (Could be wrong about that, admittedly.)
Edit: To clarify: I’m not saying that the designs don’t look nice or interesting. But they just rub me the wrong way.
you may keep them to rear new and interesting variants in your basement.
There is a single skill that triples the DPS of two players in a group; that isn’t balanced. This isn’t just a matter of making bosses trivial (which it does do), this isn’t a matter of it taking skill (because in many cases it takes absolutely no skill), this is the fact that one skill is completely dominating the entire game mode.
SAB, along with the Crown Pavilion, should be a permanent feature IMO.
Anet has actually officially stated they are fine with the key farm and encourage it. I think they would probably be open to doing this for pvp, would be also cool if they did one for wvw as well!
Note: I don’t pvp or wvw but I really do believe in similar rewards for the game modes.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
No.
Oh god. BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
This is a term thrown around these forums left and right, but where was the original use of this term and what content was it used in? What was its intended meaning and are players quoting it correctly?
The clearest usage I’ve been able to find was in a blog post where Collin states:
“To make playing in our open world worthwhile, we’ll make it rewarding enough for players to spend their time there across all levels. It’s extremely important that we stay true to our philosophy that you should be able to play Guild Wars 2 the way you want to play the game in order to reach the most powerful rewards.”
But outside of that, the term seems to be player made. I see countless players using it, even a year before the game was released, yet nowhere can I find any official use of “play how you want” in the way players have been using it.
So please stop using it in such a broad way unless you can find a statement by ArenaNet saying otherwise. They did not promise that you’d be able to do all content with ineffective gear or builds, craft the new back piece without doing fractals, or the countless other things that players use “play how you want” for.

Thank you for the fix! Many people are now switching out their seeds. However this is a new issue that people who made the Pet Seed into a seedling (many who didn’t know they were bugged until later) are still unable to swap. Is there a fix on the way?

Like seriously. I haven’t done this path in months because this fight is so broken now. It does too much damage and it’s literally impossible to do without wiping.
Sorry but if you wipe on ac spider queen there’s something you are doing wrong.
And I’m surprised when people don’t read the lfg… Explains everything.
Is that massive number of reflect hits thanks to the walling? I haven’t played the game in a while.
