Pretty sure they might actually be trying to force stabilization on the exchange. They don’t want to stop people from converting, that would be stupid. But by making it harder to get gold they encourage people to put Gems back into the pool to get gold, lowering prices.
I don’t play for loot. Playing for loot in this game is absurd. Just like playing for loot in almost any sandbox is pretty absurd. Acceptable loot is easily accessible and even plentiful. I also don’t play this game to “win” all the money, because that seems to be the actual definition of loot here. We’re not talking about gear drops, or quality of gear, but the amount of gold whatever drops can be converted into. It’s sort of kind of neat to be “rich” in a video game, but ultimately to what end? What are you doing with all the gold?
I haven’t been restricted from killing anything, just how tough a portion of those things are, and to my knowledge the story hasn’t changed.
So the run down is, I don’t see the problem. It’s a lot of QQ for nothing important.

Ugh, I had a nice well thought out response and the darn thing errored. kitten it. Oh well.
I look at it this way: It’s not any different than buying an expansion in chunks, rather than all at once. Of course, if I’m playing regularly anyway, the point is moot because I get it for free.
This has probably burnt enough flippers that they will stay away from scamming people for a few weeks which should drop the prices on some items. Good move by Anet.
Well, he doesn’t play the game, so he doesn’t see what is obvious to many.
My three level 80’s and Tequatl Greatsword disagree with your statement.
Mistforged Hero’s weapons can either be purchased directly for tournament tickets or crafted in the Mystic Forge with:
- 1 Hero’s Weapon (100 tournament tickets)
- 1 Gift of Heroes (200 tournament tickets)
- 4 Bottles of Elonian Wine
- 10 Piles of Crystalline Dust
To clarify, we had planned for the cost of Gift of Heroes to be a combination of tickets and badges, but the item will now only cost tickets. Tournament tickets will not expire.
Do we unlock the regular skin when we buy the mistforged?
I feel the need to post this given the re-release of nearly all LS rewards, I find that the prestige of items is not being respected within the game both by players and by the developers (mainly in response to small groups of players pressuring) and I would like to hear peoples thoughts.
What is item prestige
It is an unwritten statement that having a certain item gives, this can be something simple like “I was there” for most LS items to more specific statements such as “I have gotten to high level fractals” (backpiece and weapons) and “I’m rich” for legendaries and high value items.
Types of prestige
There are several types of prestige,
-“I was there prestige”: These are attendance rewards usually with some also having to be earned, they show you played back then or that you participated in a limited time event. Most living story skins used to fall into this category. Is destroyed by re-releasing the item by any means as the statement is no longer valid.
-“Skill prestige”: These would be items such as the tribulation mode weapons and Liadri they not only require you to play a certain activity but to do it to a high level of skill. Care has to be taken with these as power creep or an exploit can wipe out all their value in an instant.
- “Investment prestige”: These are items that take a large amount of resources be it time or money to complete and make a general statement about your playtime and choice of activity. Is wrecked by deflation/inflation or awarding of a previously high investment item for a low investment activity.
Why is prestige important?
Personally I believe prestige items to be important because they are the main thing I work towards in any MMO. They are the main source of enjoyment for me, attempting to collect as many of them as possible under the conditions imposed by the game. They act as badges of honor cataloging your deeds and accomplishments in a visual manner.
So how is it not being respected?
Lets start with the simplest one, the living story skins, these were a simple prestige that is easy to get right but have now been re-released not only re-released but made available for a direct gold conversion ( z boxes -> tokens) this devalues a year and a halves worth of attendance and achievement completion to under 100 gold, which is an infuriating thing.
For skill based skins, the issue arises with people (who haven’t completed the content) demanding access or asking for them to be trade-able. This takes away the items prestige and would again just convert it to monetary value. A small example of this would be run selling which allowed people access to skins without putting in the work in the correct content (Irrelevant now after the PvP merge).
Why is this happening?
I believe that this is occurring due to player entitlement and an excessively gold based economy. Player entitlement being that players who couldn’t/wouldn’t attend or complete the content (this includes limited time frame events) demanding access regardless while this entitlement is encountered in many games it appears to be amplified here due to people interpreting the design philosophy as “I can have anything I want”.
For example, if you were not at the molten alliance event, due to not owning the game, not playing , being out of the country etc or did not complete the meta, you miss out on the fused gauntlets that item becomes the reward given during that event and you move on your “ideal look” does not entitle you to access to that item.
On the gold based economy: In many MMO’s gold is a “beginner currency” of sorts or is only a partial requirement to gain prestige class items. (For examples: FFXIV all high level items/gear is bound on acquire so you must do the work yourself)
In GW2 most items can be bought with gold or real world cash which eliminates any prestige an item might otherwise carry (example being if legendaries were account bound on acquire they would hold more prestige even if only due to the map completion requirement). A single currency is also far more at risk to exploitation as it will permeate every area of the game.
11x level 80’s 80+ Titles 2600+ skins , still a long way to go.
Sigil Stacks cleared on waypoint use or upon entering the water.
This is only occurring since today’s patch and there was no mention in the patch notes of any intended changes.
I know there was a bug where you could stack 2 sigil stacking weapons by swapping it in the water, however, in this case, the weapon which gave the stacks has not been removed.
Good Morning Devs,
I just wanted to say that you have finally broken my will to continue with fractals.
To quote the 3/18 patch notes:
“- Ascended armor and weapons now drop more often from all levels of fractals, particularly as the fractal level increases.
- Ascended armor pieces will drop more often than ascended weapons."
Thanks to the guys and gals in [LOD] Legion of Doom, [SC] Snow Crows (EU), [ZoS] Zealots of the Shiverpeaks, [Keen] Commander Keen (EU) for putting together this document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Av4NvDVKEaOzdHJPaTlsRU5LeEJWN3hodklXWGFCU1E&usp=drive_web#gid=0
Show that the drop rates before and after the patch, and we can see there there has been a severe drop in the rates.
Determined that I will buck the trend, I pushed through running my “Daily Disappointment” fractal. I ran 20s, 30s, 40s, and alas after 75 runs, with 1 skin and 1 armor chest, I’ve given up.
I am completely discouraged that the Devs have not responded to all the evidence that we have provided regarding the Fractal drops. Now I know there will be people who will say that they have received skins upon skin, and chest after chest, but they are the exception, not the norm.
You will receive more praise from us double checking your math with the drops then staying silent. I’m not asking to have these skins so common that they become the status of the rings, but to have a real chance to see these things drop.
So this is the end of Fractals for me until we have a message from Anet.
Thanks for listening and happy adventuring,
Ken

Hello,
My name is Oblyth and I am a dedicated user of the Bouquet of Roses object. Since the recent patch I have noticed several changes have been made to the bouquet that greatly diminish its usefulness as an object and greatly impede upon my gameplay.
1. The “Toss Bouquet” throw arc has been greatly modified, randomized, and linked to the skill cooldown.
This means not only can I NOT toss the flowers to some flowerless passerby without trying multiple times or giving up entirely, it does not stay with them. It instantly poofs when I hit my 4 button, and I can do nothing while not having pressed the 4 button. No longer can I share the joy of tossing flowers with my fellow players, as only one bouquet may be active at a time. It is also nearly impossible to hit asura, though easier to hit taller folk. This, of course, is greatly sizeist and intolerable for a egalitarian society. And let me assure you, even at the most rambunctious of weddings a bride does not haphazardly toss her bouquet. She knows exactly who expects to catch it!
2. The bouquet times out after a certain amount of time.
Once one has discovered the joy of repeatedly “Scattering Flower Petals”, it is difficult to let that feeling go. Me along with several other floral enthusiasts have spent many an hour repeatedly spreading flowers in celebration of life. The only reason I can think of for this unfortunate change is concerns about the upcoming pollen season. I think we can reach some sort of agreement here. We will cut back on our flower tossing time IF you return the ability to us to happily AFK while tossing.
Both of these changes have greatly impacted my idle flower tossing gameplay in a negative way. I don’t think they were well thought through and I would hope you would all agree that the bouquet was definitely more glorious before. Please reconsider these changes, ArenaNet!

Shout out of thanks to the ANet Support team and GM Fluffy.
Long story short, I had an issue, and created a ticket. Despite it being the long weekend (Friday when ticket created) within 2 days I got an answer, and the problem was resolved.
I see way too any times when people are unhappy with support, and I’m sure they can’t fix every problem that’s out there, but I had to say how much I appreciated the great service and quick resolution of my issue.
It’s so nice of you to post, and we really appreciate the kind words! I’m glad we could help and it’s nice that you took the time to write a note. <3

3,495 hours. Bought one precursor for Bifrost. Have maybe 80% or more of everything saved up (basically need to buy the 2 recipes and the 100 stone things for 120ish gold, which I have – but still need quite a bit of T6 mats).
But don’t have a single dungeon run stone thingy from Arah. I figure I’ll need to go 9 times on 9 separate days to get the stones I’d need.
I’m intimidated to join a random group, and probably will never get to go, so it all sits in my bank.
Would love to get it some day.
I still find things besides that to do that are fun, though my choices are dwindling. The hard schedules for WEs have reduced the number of those I do. I used to enjoy the daily ‘to dos’, those were fun.
But I ultimately play a lot less now, and am reluctant to buy anything from the store that I think looks fun, lest it get the Westernized hammer like my running animations and some of my clothes.
I did buy $200 worth of Gs from MH recently when they had the 15% bonus on the packs (MaddolfNet never has deals like that). I get Sue Storm in less than a week, with lots left over for other costumes and heroes in the future.
Aha, another potential recruit, I see. Check this thread out, we have plenty of mentors who can teach Arah.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Legendaries are endgame items. You are not supposed to get them just for logging in.
There are about 17 reasons I cannot answer that question.
We are apparently about to lose our ability to mix and match town clothes. Let’s show ANet how much we will miss this by showing what creative ideas we’ve come up with and enjoyed for our “down-time” clothing.
It is possible that some of these WILL be able to be replicated under the new system. Most will probably be gone forever. Even if our pleas against this change fall upon deaf ears, then this thread may serve as a fond scrapbook memory of the good old days gone by.
Allow me to begin with poor Bubbles Powderpuff. She will likely be forced to quit her waitressing job at Two-Ters restaurant if she can no longer adhere to the dress code.

Suggestion and hope to anet
I know there is no plan yet for legendary gear and i dont mind if this gear never come.
But if its come can u make it so that our acended gear is the precursor?
thank u
What?
Legendary gear is already in the game. Unless, do you mean like trinkets/armor? I’m confused here.
He means using ascended weapons as precursors. Horrible idea.
Hey there, Anet folks!
As excited as I am for this feature patch, there is one thing on my mind that supersedes all my other thoughts. My question: how will the acquisition of PvP armor sets be affected post-patch? For example, since day one, I’ve absolutely adored the PvP Masquerade armor set, yet as an avid PvE player, I’ve never touched PvP, and seeing as how it was exclusive to that mode, I haven’t attempted to obtain it. However, after the gear unification announcement, my excitement went through the roof, only to find out that PvP crafting will be removed as well, eliminating the current method of acquiring these armor skins.
So will these armor skins (PvP Masquerade, hint hint) show up as a reward track after the update, or will there be other ways to earn them? And if so, will it be reasonable enough for a PvE player to obtain (I guess I’m in between casual and hardcore)?
Thank you so much for any clarification you can provide. I’ve been waiting to create my new character for so long, waiting for the day that I can use that PvP Masquerade armor for my PvE adventure!
P.S. Also, armor sets like these will have a new name, like Tribal or Voodoo armor, am I right to assume this?
The main issues with the pass are twofold. First is the same issue with other account bound items, namely the infinite gathering tools and the Salvage-O-Matic, that being that you basically have to use a bank as a relay point for any characters when you want to swap the items. While a “bank bag” which had an account-wide inventory (AKA it acts as a tiny, 20-slot mobile bank and takes up a bag slot) would be preferable, it’s likely not something that’ll happen. The second issue is the fact that the Terrace boots you out of it upon logging in, even if you have the pass in your inventory.
The primary stopgap solution I see for right now, would be to just not have the Terrace boot players out on login. Don’t let them IN unless they have the pass, but if they have it, you can likely assume that they got in there legit. You still need to use the bank to hand the pass off to any alts, but at least you can use the bank in the Terrace, instead of having to walk to the one in DR, or wait through the loading screen. This item is all about convenience, so it should definitely be as convenient as possible for players to use.
I recognise that these issues may be getting fixed in the feature patch. But since the pass is only on sale for one day, it’s likely best to tell us NOW if what issues will be getting fixed, what won’t be fixed yet (but are planned to be) and what issues will not be worked on. If I were to be told that at the least it booting you out on login would be getting fixed? I would instantly buy the pass. But currently it doesn’t seem like 1k gems worth of convenience to me.

This is a pve game. The rewards are in pve, acquired by running pve, and best used in pve.
It’s not Anets fault that you fail to comprehend that pvp is a mini-game / cancelled side project.
Once you figure out that the upcoming “Soon” patch is really a Pve feature patch that negatively impacts pvp, you will begin to understand the rationale behind removing pvp rewards. One valid reason is to encourage players incorrectly spending too much time pvping to try out pve, as that is the real game.
Just…. I mean… I … You’re basically… umm… Yea… I’ve got nothing. You can’t reason with stupid.

Greetings and salutations.
With Season 1 of the Living Story drawing to a close, it seems appropriate to offer review and reflection of everything that has come thus far. Sadly, there is much to consider, as the brand new path trod by Anet has many missteps and mishaps along the way.
Rather than talk about individual flaws, I thought it might be best to take a stab at the overall writing style of the Living Story and the narrative flaws it continues to exhibit. Plot holes come and go, individual complaints will always remain, but the best way to help Season 2 is to consider the pitfalls of Season 1 from a writing and gaming perspective. And so, I thought I would offer up a bit of constructive criticism in silly infographic format.
For your consideration, Fifteen Lessons From Fifteen Months of Scarlet Briar.
I already posted this in the dungeon forum yesterday, as I was unaware of a fractal CDI coming up. I am sorry for the double post, but I feel it is best to have this suggestion here as well for completeness.
Proposal overview
Make agony resistance (AR) account wide.
Goal of Proposal
Fractals become much more repeatable/replayable if we can bring any character. It makes it a different experience. The fractal levels are account wide, but I find myself bringing the same character because she is the only one who is equiped with AR.
Proposal Functionality
Similar to the change that was made for magic find in the past, where it was removed from the gear and made account wide, the same could be done for AR.
Associated Risks
- People who already build up their AR should have this transferred to their account somehow in order to not lose progress.
- Balancing the acquirement of AR.
- Balancing power creep from infusion slots that can now slot other attributes.
I will discuss this proposal with Izzy and have him respond.
Chris
I sincerely like the effort to introduce the selfless and thoughtless potions as new form of flare, but the mechanics have areas that need improvement.
The unearned Evon Gnashblade and Ellen Kiel badges are persistent when transforming, zoning, and allowed in dungeons/spvp/ fractals; yet, the earned Selfless or Thoughtless Potion effect are not. The effect is either denied, or removed during the normal course of gameplay. For example, during a world boss trains, the effect will be taken off after porting to different regions.
Furthermore, the offset of the effect is at equal height with the character nameplate, effectively covering up the appeal all together. Although the halo is already too translucent to be noticeable even at close proximity, the fact that it is also covered by the nameplate makes it virtually unnoticeable.
Summary restriction and limitation:
- Restricted in dungeons.
- Restricted in fractals.
- Restricted in sPvP.
- Effect removed upon zoning
- Effect blocked by nameplate (selfless potion halo)
- Effect too translucent to be noticed (selfless potion halo)
(new)Effect is not applied to Mesmer clones. [»](new)Effect is too low and too small on Asura. [»] [»]- (new) Effect removed upon transformation (e.g., tonic, mist form, elite).
(The election badges suffer from none of the above.)
I hope the restriction and limitation points listed above are simply an oversight that will be addressed, as they conflict with the very nature of the item function; a new form of shiny flair to enhance character presentation.
Thoughts?

It’s something to be earned. The game is meant to last you years and keep you playing – it makes sense to have achievement rewards set up for the future because as years go by people will start hitting these high points regularly.
Why not? There are people close to 21k Achievement Points already. If you want them, work hard to get those AP each day and earn them.
