Yeah you have no idea how kitten ive gotten when doing some of the jumps when my GF(small female character) does it the first try and i spend 30 min(full size male charr) and still cant do it and end up literally ripping my keyboard out of my computer and throwing it across the room(yeah so i have possible rage issues but i also have lazy code and broken game issues).
And the camera angle in caves is just kittening stupid, i would even go as far as to say gamebreaking. WHY THE kitten CAN I NOT LOCK THE kitten CAMERA TO A SINLGE POSISTION??
I cant count how many times ive died in a cave while looking at some stupid wall where my character isnt even on the screen and i didnt move the camera it moved itself and while im figting with a kitten camera to try and see whats going on i die, and i have no way of knowing even how i died…..
I do not find it fair at all the the jump puzzle portion of the game is literally rigged against me while being much much easier for small characters.
Omigosh, a JP dev is cool enough to converse with us plebs.
I’m about to squee in real life.
That’s probably the massive caffeine talking though.
JPs are my favorite way of getting loot. I love them keep it up. Also don’t be afraid to make them harder!
Make sure to tell terrain design that any new WvW map should have more JPs and maybe some interesting terrain in general…. Also tell class-balance that the engineer landmine shouldn’t expire
Wow, that’s a long list, Chickenshoes. Well, I know that Tirzah is doing the new WvW map stuff (She did Hidden Garden I think) so it is SURE to be amazing.

I thought this was going to be something new, I was so excited to see that they were actually looking into the major WvW discrepencies and showing us the data.
Then I read the date >(

cool data how about also showing numbers of players in each map per sever, now that would be even more interesting to compair
cheers
Here is a quick and dirty combined view for Anvils Rock, Darkhaven and Yak’s Bend. If I only had the original Data I could do tons more =P.
For the love of all that is good, start pitting servers with similer que times throughout the day. IT SINT FUN to have a server tyhat has a great deal more night-crew than you and everything you worked for, literally EVERYTHING is gone by morning.
If you want that 30% to continue, please balance by que time of day as PRIORITY over server point accumulation. *
For example, Darkhaven and Anvil Rock are similer, so good matchup time-wise. However toss Yaks Bend in the mix and you get a horribly lopsided matchup that makes the point system wholly irrelevant when trying to balance by skill. Skilled players cant win against a lesser skilled enemy WHEN THEY ARE ASLEEP.
Thanks!!! That’s exactly the kind of information needed to calm the many, many whiners.

edit: Since I am a sucker for data like this, or just greedy:
- Please keep posting such information regularly, this really helps the community to understand why there may be some hick-ups or other problems with the user experience.
- If possible, please consider using the same absolute y-axis for all charts. Then players could immediately see which servers have a high WvW load and which don’t. You gave the warning in your post, but it is rather cumbersome to find this kind of information.

Attached are a collection of charts showing the queue size of each map for a given world. These charts are for the North American worlds.
This data was collected from 8:00PM Sept 14th to 9:30PM Sept 18th. I believe the time zone listed is UTC, but I’m not 100% sure about that.
There can be up to four lines on each chart, one for each map that world is playing on. A line is only present for a map if it was full and there were people waiting in a queue. The map abbreviations are:
EB – Eternal Battlergrounds
RB – Red Team Borderlands
BB – Blue Team Borderlands
GB – Green Team Borderlands
Be sure to pay close attention to the vertical axis on each chart as the scale changes from world to world. Some worlds have hundreds of people queued for all four maps while other worlds might peak at a hundred in queue on one or two maps.
Unfortunately I just realized I didn’t put the world names on the chart. A chart’s filename matches the world it represents, so you’ll need to look at the end of the url when looking at a chart (or before clicking on it) to see what world it represents.
We thought these charts would be useful information for people to see, as it helps illustrate why some worlds have much longer waits than others. Hopefully it will also help some people decide to leave some of those higher population worlds for one of the worlds with smaller (or no) queues, which would reduce the queue pressure on the overloaded world and help provide more manpower for the smaller world.
Some other information we gathered from this timespan:
- Almost 30% of the total players who logged into the game queued up for WvW
- About 3% of the total players who logged in and queued never got in.
We’re completely ecstatic about the first number and not happy at all about the second. We’re looking at a number of short term and long term solutions that should help make that second number go down even if the first one goes up. As we make progress on those solutions we will keep you updated.
No changes on commander tag anytime soon, see Mike’s reply https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Willing-to-share-WvW-details/1192287
Extremely disappointed to hear that. I think players and devs agree that culling and que/bugs are the top priority. For me the tools to coordinate come next. We almost always run more than 5+ guild members in WvW and the commander and squad system is the only way in-game to group with waypoints, chat channel between all grps and supply info. As a guild we like to move as a fast mobile force doing hit and ran tactics… NOT to lead the zone.
The problem is we never end up using it as it interferes and causes confusion with those commanders that ARE leading. I’ve seen people harassed and flamed in map chat simply for using it for their guild activities.
At the very least they need to allow guild commanders to turn the pin off so only those people in the squad see it and reduce the pins to help the commanders leading the zone. Is it that hard to make squads /private?
Spartan, I’m guessing you haven’t been exposed to the situation everyone’s living since Guild Wars 2 has been released.
First few month : WvW rocks, everyone joins pretty much easily, fine days.
End of the year : Anet annoucement. We’ll patch WvW soon so that it keeps up with nice content as the rest of the game has. Meanwhile orbs are removed for whatever balance reason. Ok fine.
Beginning 2013 : Anet annoucement : the patch will appear in February and will be awesome.
January 2013 : PvE lolpatch, creates huge queues in WvW and pretends to be fixing / bring solutions against culling (which isn’t). And by the way, MiB style Anet reponse, the queues never hapened.
End of January 2013 : oh by the way patch postponed to March but hey guys, we’re working soooo hard.
So Yes Spartan, it gets people frustated … even more players spending 5 evenings a night in WvW prime times. Deal with it.
“We’ll fix the queue issue during the upcoming days”. That would have been a useful annoucement.
Not a huge page for “huumm won”t be February but March instead for you to have nice items in WvW"…You’re loosing players and support of the community here Colin. Maybe it’s time to realise that …
Maybe this is their way to fix it? Everyone quits: no queues, no culling. Problem solved!
-_- i really hope i get into the ESO beta.
When march hits, it’s gonna be the same old two step “sorry folks, we’re pushing the update back to april, but you can have this paperweight in the meantime.”
Heh..Let me guess, these WvW changes are coming the same time the Ranger ones are coming grin
I don’t think Anet understands that WvW is the only reason this game isn’t laughed off right now…

WvW is not the ‘red headed stepchild’
one does not hire more developers to work on wvw if wvw is just a ‘red headed stepchild’.
Development takes time, and development takes even longer in instances where balance has to be considered.
Except they didn’t say “developers”, they said “staff”. So maybe they are just hiring more forum moderators ;-)
It was originally the December balance patch which became “were totally making major changes in January”, which led naturally to two major updates in Feb/march and now march/? And will in reality be delivered just before some competitors release like every other game ever

would be easyer to track this stuff if we could record log’s to a file (looted item, killed mob, damage done, ect)
The problem with this is that we’ve NEVER been given ANY direction from ANet about what data they’d like. Then they closed the old thread that had vastly more information it and they tend to quickly merge/kill any bug threads related to the issue. Of course, this points to confusion, delay and cover-up.
With the infamous unidentified dye bug then followed by the quick drop rate adjustment and the more recent (Jan 29th/30th) adjustments to drop rates in Orr to readjust rates that were already adjusted in the 28th patch. We already KNOW they can, AND DO, track live drop rates and posting stats here is a waste of time IMO. I’ve stopped complaining and adjusted my play so that it’s not drop-centric. Unfortunately, with completing 41 of the 44 jumping puzzles and 95% map completion, this game has nearly run it’s course. For me. With these drop rates, I don’t see the point in open world or dungeons any more.
Get used to the drop rates…this is not a bug, this is how it is. Adjust your play to compensate, put up with it, or leave the game. ArenaNet either doesn’t care and doesn’t believe there’s an issue or has their hands tied by their NCSoft/Nexon task masters. Either way, it’s not changing…coming on 3 months later, that’s obvious.

lol i put in a ticket aswell 2 days ago about the bug that causes no loot to drop from champions – as yet no reply (but all my other tickets got answered within 24 hrs)
EDIT: Anyone remember the loot drop rates at launch?? cos i do and the game has now become a grind AND NOT FUN

See this is the thing. I don’t think it has anything to do with getting matchups correct. It makes no sense, because Matchups are as close to correct as they can get right now. I think it has to do with making money off paid transfers.
From a business point of view, it is also irrational. Start with the simple premise that better game —> more business. Of course it’s not always true, but I have enough respect for ArenaNet and its fans to say that it is in this case.
More-so that an actual better game experience, there’s the fact that.. unless you plan on transferring every week, the best choice would be endure the weeks of unbalanced matchup and wait it out, because matchups will be volatile. And let’s face it… they don’t make much money off the transfers…
Have faith in ArenaNet; I don’t think it’s an evil company, they’ve just made a bad decision regarding this issue. But it’s important to emphasize, since future updates CANNOT be planned with the same disconnection as this one.
there were zero changes to anything what so ever that would have negatively affected loot in any way/shape/form. We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.
evaluating every system game wide that causes a player to qualify for items to determine if any issues exist in those systems from launch.
So the perceived strange drop behavior has now been confirmed as only an unfounded conspiracy.
November 15 to present has been determined to be working as intended.
They will now check anything from launch to Nov 1 to see if anyone was having issues with drops for that period.
I apologize for naively believing that the issues of champ/vet/boss non-drops and excessive DR and gray loot flooding would definitely be resolved by ANet. And I apologize for doubting posters who suspected this would be the case.
Just wanted to give a quick update on this topic. We’ve completed verifying every update from the november release, and there were zero changes to anything what so ever that would have negatively affected loot in any way/shape/form. We can officially confirm this as an X-files level conspiracy at this point.
We’re in the midst of evaluating every loot table in the game and running massive random roll evaluations table by table, as well as evaluating every system game wide that causes a player to qualify for items to determine if any issues exist in those systems from launch.
Will update again when we have another round of concrete information.
Colin, I invite you to look at my account, specifically, at the drops I received before and after the lost shores update. It’s a difference of day and night. Four rares an hour vs 1 per 2 to 3 hours. Really, you have full permission. If you find out why my loot drops went down, perhaps you’ll find out what happened to everyone that has replied in this thread, and the merged thread that preceded this thread.
It’s sad that on a lot of classes, I’d much rather have a 4th utility slot than the crappy elites I have.
I’ve been saying this since launch, too bad no devs seem to be listening.
I agree Elites need to be changed to be useful.
Let’s go through the list:
Warrior- 1 Useful, 1 Meh, 1 Wut?
Guardian- 1 Useful, 2 Meh
Thief- 1 Useful, 1 Meh, 1 Wut?
Engineer- 1 Useful, 2 Wut?
Ranger- 3 Meh
Mesmer-3 Useful
Elementalist- 1 Meh, 2 Wut?
Necromancer- 2 Meh, 1 Wut?
Most Elites are less useful than a Utility Skill. Which is a problem.
No one really mentions that projectiles aim for the base of a target, not center mass or the head. This makes sieging or counter-sieging very difficult. Often you can’t destroy a massive trebuchet or oil vat because your arrows are aiming at the very base of the target and hitting the lip of a wall.
Also, do siege weapons suffer from condition damage? I don’t think they do; and if that’s so, that throws our traps right out the window, too.
Tarnished Coast
lets look at what others profs can do:
- thieves: macro quickness, near insta kill and insta stomp. gank on demand. abuses culling. guaranteed single target kills. most reliable single target burst in the game. Shadow Refuge one of the best utilities in the game.
- mesmers: ridiculous Glamour utilities, in addition to abusing culling, and having some of the best 1200 range damage (probably second to warrior)
- guardian: best support, boonbot, healer, probably the toughest prof when specced for support; i play a burst guardian who can teleport into a zerg, down 5 people and get out (meditations, hammer, GS)
- necro: aoe conditions that can be spammed from 900-1200 range on multiple targets; one of the best anti zerg profs
- ele: d/d rules WvW with knockdowns, godmode escapes and shields (if youre good), and above average aoe burst; support ele second best tank and support in the game
- warrior: rifle GS zerker warriors cut through zergs like hot knife through butter with whirlwind attack and endure pain. best 1200 range in the game.
okay. RANGER. im gonna try not to laugh as i type this:
- a decent duelist in 1v1-3 situations, condition build only
- LB barrage, muddy terrain, frost trap and spike trap can keep zergs at bay (to a limited extent)
- bunker setup with clerics makes running away from zergs and evading 10 scrubs for a while a lot of fun. until someone organized comes in and triple-immobilizes you. cant kill much.
- entangle trap bombing is the closest we get to downing multiple opponents, and it just plain sucks. because my guard or warrior can do the same in 2 seconds.
WvW is organized zerg warfare where strong utilities and big spells that make a demonstrable difference for or against multiple targets rule. a dev comment on their vision of the ranger in WvW would be lovely.
p.s. when are spirits, shouts, pets, LB and signets getting fixed? i.e. when is half of our profession getting fixed?
I guess what I was trying to add was changing the game to suit a particular section of player is overall a bad idea.
Depends. If the game was changed so as to not disenfranchise currently happy players but at the same time made currently under served players happier and more liable to stick around for the long term that would be nothing but good for the game.
Population must be maintained in order for MMOs to work and they can only live for so long on churn. Having a core, loyal playerbase is essential.
I was assuming something fierce,I will grant you that, but look at ever single post in the forums about any type of change in the gameplay/design and it is filled to the brim with assumptions of how the game “should” be.
It’s a forum on the internet, whats your point?
You have to agree with me that most if not all of the complaints center around the fact that WvW is casual PvP. Most if not all the changes (aside from the culling issues) asked for want skill to shine over numbers. The more Anet starts to lean on skill > numbers the less player base you will find in WvW.
I disagree with the notion that WvW is “casual PvP.” Just like most other aspects of the game it has room to contain both dedicated and occasional players.
You’re also presuming that zerg players aren’t dedicated, this is also blatantly false. You’re from DR, you must know about good old Sir “Hitting Stonemist Gates While We Lose the Rest of EB is a Good Tradeoff” Morningstar. Would you call him a casual? With the hours he pulls? I’d call him many, many, insulting things before I got down that far and he only runs with the zerg.
Skill is not the primary differencing factor between “casual” and “hardcore.”
The problem right now is the rewards of skill are few and far between in WvW. It alienates a not insignificant chunk of people. It is an imbalance that should be worked out. Imo, the health of WvW depends on it.
They can also go to far the other way of course. tPvP has this issue atm. The skilled, practiced players get everything and everyone else gets screwed. The result is empty tPvP queues, because nobody who isn’t currently skilled can become skilled enough to be anything but fodder.
