More cosmetic options in char creator

The customization options in this game are surprisingly limited, even for humans. More hair styles, more face options. Scars, piercings, tattoos! DDO has you beat hands down in this area! Try to do better!

Here is something I would also like to see – the ability to change your appearance during the game. If I get a scar or lose an eye during RP, let me change my char’s appearance to reflect that!

Siege I'd like to see as W3 progression

in WvW

Add what you like. This is a thread for imagination.

These are mine that I imagine to be something you could earn over time for W3 participation.

Inspiration: There was a quest I played in the personal story that was me controlling a golem – super fun!
Mini golem spies – teeny tiny golems that are remote controlled.
You can only use them in a place where you have the invulnerable buff.
Using them gives you a view from their eyes for a set amount of time like 10 minutes.
Enemy players can see them, enemy players can kill them.
Golem spies are immune to NPC damage.
Who can apply this – Players wearing the Gogo Dodo Title earned from escorting dolyaks.

Inspiration: All the dyes in the game that already exist.
Dyed siege weapons, pink too.
Laying a coat of paint on the siege weapon will increase the sturdiness of the siege. When this siege is attacked it leaves a paint condition on the player attacking it. When they have the paint condition they must remove the paint occasionally as it clogs up their weapon. After 5 stacks it will turn the siege weapon invulnerable to attacks. This means that players will have to pause and remove their excess paint instead of burning the siege weapon down without any thought. They may also have to tell others that they are debuffing all damage as long as they continue to attack.
Who can apply this – Players wearing the Pretty Painter Title earned by finding unidentified dye in W3.

Inspiration: We have damage, we have healing. Siege only has damage.
Siege weapons that heal other siege weapons when placed in a close radius. These are tiny carpenters like gnomes that tinker around on the siege and slowly repair it but they never repair over 70% because they sleep 23 hours a day and are very tired.
Who can apply this – Players wearing the Quicker Fixer Upper Title earned by building siege weapons, not from reparing gates/walls.

Inspiration: Running supply boredom.
When you pickup supply you can pick it up as a bundle that gives you 70% run speed.
The buff lasts 2 minutes.
To maintain the run buff you must not drop the bundle, dropping the bundle gives you a debuff of 70% run speed for 2 minutes.
When at least half the supply picked up is used, you are no longer subject to the debuff of 70% run speed.
If you die while carrying the bundle, you do not incur the debuff penalty.
The intent is to buff you while running supply, not just running so if you don’t use the supply before the timer reaches for your buff, you incur the run speed debuff.
Who can apply this – Players wearing the Steady Builder Title earned from using supply repairing gates/walls, not from building siege.

gw2 logic:

1. you’re being attacked by four enemies at close range? better target that rabbit 30 yards away.

2. oh you’re kiting? better switch target to the full hp enemy instead of the one with 2% left.

it does these things all the time! it should lock on one until A. it dies or B. you switch targets.

It would be nice to see something like the LOTRO Outfit tab system.

For the people that didn’t play.

Taken from LOTRO wiki

Cosmetic items as well as regular equipment items can be equipped in either Equipment, Outfit 1, or Outfit 2 slots (although no item stats or bonuses will be applied by items equipped in outfit slots). A player must still meet the requirements of items such as level, class, armour proficiency (e.g. light armour, medium armour) in order to equip the item in a cosmetic outfit slot.

Items equipped in a cosmetic outfit slot will override the appearance of primary gear appearance when the player switches to that outfit. Players also have the option to show or hide the appearance of individual items in the head, shoulders, hands, back, and feet slots by clicking the icon of the eye next to the item slot.

While displaying items in Outfit 1 or Outfit 2, it is not necessary to keep that item in the player’s inventory bags. When a player equips an item in either an Outfit 1 or Outfit 2 slot a “snapshot” of the appearance of that item is recorded in that Outfit slot and the item is no longer required; and that item can either be sold, or stored in the player’s bank. The Outfit slots can only store one “snapshot” at a time: so, if a player equips a Cloth Hat in the head slot of Outfit 1, then later changes Outfit 1’s head slot to Mariner’s Eyepatch, the Cloth Hat appearance is over-written by Mariner’s Eyepatch (and the Cloth Hat appearance is lost). If the player sold the Cloth Hat item, they must reacquire the Cloth Hat item in order to display the appearance of a Cloth Hat.

Players can use the Keymapping options to set a specific key for each outfit, allowing players to switch between all 3 outfits instantly “on the fly” by pressing the associated keys on the keyboard.

Equipment Storage ( Alternatively, Armourdex)

Hello there. First of all I’d like to say my main is a lvl 71 Guardian and I am no where near achieving the following goals I am about to mention, but I think this is something that may be really helpful for people with similar goals. (Also I am a brittish user, so forgive my use of “Armour” & “Colour” as opposed to “Armor” or “Color”)

I love the dungeons in this game and have nearly gotten all the pieces to my Ascalonian Catacombs Armour set, even though I have to wait a few levels before getting to equip it.

It is my goal to unlock all dungeon armour sets, and also all three tiers of cultural armour for every character I play. I currently play two characters but will create more after achieving my goals with these characters.

Now, let’s do a bit of maths. At two characters it is my current aim to unlock eleven full sets of armour for each character (Eight dungeon armour, three cultural)

See the problem? Currently, I have no where near that amount of space to store all the armour I’m not using, but would like to keep for commemorative purposes. My bank cannot accommodate anywhere near enough pieces, keeping them all in my inventory would really hurt my income of loot when I’m doing WVW or just exploring the world, and I feel it would be just unfair to use the guild bank to store MY stuff.

I’ve asked in /Map and /Guild chat many times if there is a way to storage equipment in this way. Every-time, I’ve been told their isn’t.

Now, apologies if this in game somewhere and I’ve just missed it (in that case ignore my stupid thread.)

My proposal is some form of equipment storage that works similar to crafting materials collection. Although I do not think you should be allowed to deposit all Armour in there the same way as you do crafting materials. I think the best access to this would be via the crafting stations or a specific NPC. ( Maybe even a kind of trophy collection in your Home Instance, would be something to make the area more desirable)

In my mind this works in a way similar to collections categorize crafting materials. All pieces of equipment are put into one of three main categories: Dungeon, Cultural & Crafted.

Obviously the first two categories are for Dungeon and Cultural armour, whereas crafted is for specific craft-able armour sets (Gladiator, Crusader, Valkyrie ETC)

Then each category splits each piece into a series of sub-categories.
So lets imagine in the Dungeon category the first sub-category is Ascalonian Catacombs, which splits into the following Categories: Light Armour, Medium Armour, Heavy Armour, Weapons.

Each armour category has 6 slots, one for each piece of equipment, whereas in weapons their are 19 slots for each weapon category. (One-handed weapons can stack upto two in each slot, for dual wield weapons such as daggers and axes.)

Repeat this process across all dungeons and we have a way to catalogue all our pieces of equipment from dungeons when we are not using them.

Cultural uses a similar system.

The main categories would be for each race, then the subcategories for that would be the weapons and each of the armour classes, which are then split into the three tiers of equipment, all in all allowing a way to store every possible piece of cultural equipment in the game, if you should wish to obtain that many.

Finally, the Crafted collection would simply be for storing named crafted armour sets and weapons that are at least rare. This list would descend in the crafting level required to make the equipment. So for heavy Armour it would start at Gladiator, and work its way down for the armour pieces which are rare (If I’m correct in thinking how crafting works, essentially any piece made with a purchased recipe sheet would be allowed to deposited in the equipment collection.)

Each slot has three statuses.
1. Not Obtained – The graphic icon for the piece is shown here but is in grayscale, showing you have not obtained that piece of equipment yet.
2. Stored – the piece of equipment is being stored in this slot right now and its appearance is the usual graphic icon it would normally have,
3. Not currently stored – This shows you have previously stored in the piece of equipment here and have owned it, but is not currently being stored for whatever reason (Such as you’re using it or would like to sell/salvage it) The icon is a faded version of the usual appearance, with the colours being a lot less vibrant.

This system allows for a kind of Equipment Pokedex which would allow obsessive equipment hoarders like me a place to store their equipment which they are not using. Maybe a small Gem purchase would be required to have access to the equipment storage, but after that those players are free to store all their equipment to their hearts content.

Thank you for reading all of this, and if they are any flaws or missing design details in this idea feel free to let me know and I will most likely swiftly edit or respond to this.

Costume System

in Suggestions

Posted by: TwiliteGarden.5384

TwiliteGarden.5384

I suggest implementing a costume system such that you can wear clothing that masks your armor but does not replace it. For example, currently the way things work is you have your armor and your street clothing. You cannot use your street clothing while fighting. Why not make it so you can wear street clothing on top of your armor so that you can still fight while wearing it? I have played other games that do this exact thing and it really increases the cash shop sales because people like to look unique both in town and out in the field. Selling costumes in the cash shop allows you to highly modify your appearance without affecting game play.

I saw a few clothing sets in GW2’s cash shop that I would have likely purchased if it weren’t for the fact that it was for town only.

You'd make MORE revenue by selling the skins

in Halloween Event

Posted by: shaktiboi.5194

shaktiboi.5194

Plain and simple feedback: If you’d simply offered the nice halloween skins as cash shop items “available for a limited time only during the Halloween event”, you’d have made a lot more revenue than with your current gambling ripoff scheme with the Black Lion chests.

I won’t pay a red cent for Black Lion Chest keys. Not before; not now; not ever. I’m not adverse to throwing money at Anet for a great game, but NEVER for a crappy gambling chance at some random stuff, most of which is worthless to me. The chests in general are a terrible idea and a terrible mechanic.

However, I have thrown lots of cash shop money at you for other things. Useful things. Nice things. Things I can use and that I want. Skins, bank/inventory upgrades, Fine transmute stones, etc. If you’d put up a permanent field banker or field BL rep or field merchant, I’d buy it in a hot minute. But only being a possible rare drop from a BL chest? Never. Never ever ever. Would I buy minis from the cash shop if they weren’t totally random chance packs? You betcha. Probably quite a few. But right now, I’ll never buy a mini pack, not ever.

Will I buy the Mad King or Witch skins before the event is over? You betcha. No problem. Here: take my money! Thank you for a great game!

But those kitten chests? Kitten that kitten kitten kitten ripoff kitten. ^.^

To put it another way: if you’d have put up those permanent Halloween-themed weapon/armor skins for $10 each on the Cash Shop, you’d probably have made $50 off me, no questions asked. Here: take my money please!

But with the current scheme for these skins? You get zero. You get my ill will. You get my bad mouthing your kitten greedy schemes when I talk about Anet and GW2 to other people.

I’m sure I’m not alone. Please learn from this mistake for next time around.

Oh, and your product managers might want to closely follow the debacle about Facebook’s recent greed move with their “sponsored posts to guarantee full reach to your audience” scheme. And the community’s reaction to that. Don’t be Facebook-smart and profit-stupid, please.

The mini slot should be in already and town clothes should be wearable while fighting.

Also, tonics should allow you to still use your regular attacks so that you actually WANT to use the stupid things. It’s why the halloween and elf tonics were the best from GW1, while that everyone just hucked the rest away and used them solely for cash or party points.

New System to Wardrobe Armor

Posted by: BrunoBRS.5178

BrunoBRS.5178

@BrunoBRS.5178:

point by point

1- You also tell them apart by their skills :P. but yeah I get where you are coming from
2- I would also like that IF they plan to have more town clothes, if that is the case the the wardrobe slot would be separate and not replace the TC system
3- Inspect… I really don’t care either way
4- I don’t play sPvP so can’t comment, the suggestion for restriction was brought up in other discussions as a way to stop others saying that it will ruin pvp. I agree with you about WvW though I will remove it.

1- by the time you can recognize them by their skills, it’s too late to decide if you should fight or flight :P

2- that would be great, though i think first they need to add some more options to town clothing, and i don’t mean just dressing options. i mean stuff that was in GW1, like the option of automatically putting on the costume while in town, or the option to show/hide the mask automatically.

4- sPvP has a locker where you can store any armor and weapon you can find. the problem with it, though, is that you can only store one of each, and the locker is account-wide (as it should be). so if you have this armor you really like, and you have multiple characters you’d like to see using it, you need to hop back and forth between characters to do that, or get a second one.

it’s very stupid and backwards, and it’s even more mind boggling that it wasn’t like that in beta.

"Perfect" patch notes - a comprehensive list

Dee Jay.2460

So I was on a lengthy train-ride today and couldn’t stop thinking about the game. I ended up compiling an extensive list of changes, both content and balance wise, that I’d like to see in the game.

This list has been mostly based off my personal playing experience as well as various forum discussions.

Since I only play a Thief I avoided making suggestions on how to balance the other classes. I’ll leave that to other players since they too obviously need adjustments.
_______________________________________________

General Changes

-Improved the LFG feature: You can now select which Dungeons you wish to visit from a list and see other players listed for those Dungeons.
-The camera can now be zoomed into first person view for maximum viewing pleasure.
-The “field of view” can now be scaled up to 80 (from 65) in the options menu.
-Added an option to scale the intensity of “Bloom”.

World Changes

Mobs
-Mob threat mechanics have been reworked. Mobs should no longer single out individual players and pursue them for longer periods of time.
-The respawn times on various mobs have been increased significantly.
-Conditions on targets are no longer capped at 25. Vulnerability is now capped at 50, while Bleeds can be stacked indefinitely.
-Veteran mobs will now drop ever increasingly better loot, the longer they remain alive.

Loot
-Rare crafting materials (Orchialicum, Orrian Oak and rare cooking ingredients) can now spawn in any zone and are no longer restricted to high-level zones.
-Item drops are now solely based on character level. Material and ingredients drops are still based on the environment and monsters.
-The chance of finding Mastercraft quality item from regular mobs has been reduced to compensate for the increased drop-rate from dungeons and chests.

Travel
-Travel expenses for using waypoints have been significantly reduced. They now take into account the level of your destination zone not just the distance and character level.

Dynamic Events
-Karma received for events is now solely based on character level. All events throughout the world award the same amount of Karma at any given level.
-Exceptions: The final stages of various Dynamic Event chains now reward an additional 20% Karma.
-Mob scaling has been improved, especially for large numbers of players participating in events. Mob Hit Points, Damage and Numbers will now scale better with the number of participating players.
-Diminishing Returns on Karma now apply to any event repeated within the hour.

Dungeons
-Various boss encounters have had their Hit-points rebalanced.
-Various boss encounter have learned new abilities or mechanics to make them more engaging.
-Explorable Dungeons bosses have had their loot improved and award at least one rare item at the end of each path.
-Story Mode Dungeons bosses have had their loot improved and should award more Mastercraft items.

And to let us take a break and enjoy the scenery more, let’s take it even further, let’s gather some wood and make a campfire (cook the fish here) out of it, then all we need is some entertainment such as music, food and drinks.

I’d love to be able to play music in this game.

There have been only two MMORPGs where I’ve been blessed with the joys of being able to play music myself. These two were the best MMORPGs that I’ve played. (Not only because of it, obviously.)

I found an organ in Ebonhawke Stronghold. Lovely. Just needs improvements, more easily accessible keys, ability to hold down more than one key and no cooldowns. A game called Graal Online handles it pretty well. In it, to play music, you held down arrow keys combined with WASD keys. Even someone like me could play stuff on it, and I’m no musician. Just needed the “notes”, which looked like this <sd^w(a)vds>as.

A purposal for GMT + 7 to GMT + 10 guilds

in WvW

Posted by: Xpiher.5209

Xpiher.5209

I’ve recently been trying to find players to play with during the week who’s prime time are within these time zones. After about a week or two of research I’ve discovered a few things, which are probably common knowledge to all of you

  • Most of the guilds that I’ve found are a little small to be effective in WvW. I’m talking less than 30 members
  • Most of these guilds don’t appear to be past the establishment phase of guild creation. Sure, some are gaming communities; however, they haven’t stabilized numbers yet.
  • The guilds that aren’t small are concentrated on Sea of Sorrow, blackgate, Anvil Rock. Making these guild zergy during the above listed play times which leads to steam rolling during other servers off times.

What this leaves is a pack of small guilds spread across all servers, with little room for growth. It also leaves the few servers, like Sea of Sorrow, with little competition during their prime time. To solve this problem I have a two part proposal.

First, the leadership of the various small guilds from GMT + 7 to GMT +10 get in contact with each other and establish 3 WvW focused Oceanic/Pacific alliances . The alliances should be between 75-100 member strong each. Tomorrow I’ll update this thread with guilds who I believe are candidates for such an alliance(s). Once these alliances or guilds are formed, the leaders of each should then agree to NOT transfer to the same server. It defeats the purpose of the entire process if they are concentrated on a single server.

Once these alliances are formed part two is on the servers hands. Each server that is interested should try and recruit one of these newly formed alliance into their fold. I believe that there are numerous ways to tempt a guild to join a server from gifts of gold and/or crafting material, to strong known alliances using their clout to draw in more talent.

If you are a guild leader or player who is interested in trying to make this proposal work, please respond to this thread or contact me directly.
