100% unprofessional.
I work for a Global Fortune 20 company and I can say one thing – it is impossible to pull off such BS here. My department would be fired immediately if we delivered products with Anet’s approach.
See you in January, guys.
A lot of us understand that Anet is a company and needs money to pay bills and salaries, etc – and players want WvW fixed – so why not let players put their money where their mouth is? There are plenty of threads in this forum with many good ideas to fix problems or redesign current mechanics, which shows that the community wants things to get better. We want to see WvW succeed. Why not offer the people something that they want, and see who is willing to pay for it?
I’d readily throw down $20 if it guaranteed a better WvW experience.
Anyone else?
Hi all,
It would be really useful IF:
A party can specify what profession they are looking for and the LFG has a selectable filter preventing individuals on non-matching professions from joining (and specifying a level cap- eg ANY or LVL 80 Only !)
We have all had cases where lvl 50 individuals with 100 AP try to join a group – not understanding (or reading the LFG) to be instantly kicked and not understanding why or people that enter content on the wrong profession (not what the group is looking for) to then be kicked.
The amount of times we have to repost looking for a last slot to fill a particular class can be highly frustrating and annoying.
This would help individuals who have chosen not to read the heartache of moving to a zone to be kicked (and entering a dungeon or fractal) and the feeling of rejection.
Thank you for reading.
Many Thanks
HI, I really love the Hobo-Tron backpiece, but I have just a few adjustment ideas I feel will improve it.
1) Reduce the volume just slightly. Just slightly. I find it louder than most other SFX. While I love hearing his lovable voice, I do find it odd it would be so much louder than other voices.
2) Remove the textbox when it talks. It’s distracting.
3) Switch it to player instruments category, for those who do not like it.
So as more and more players get this backpack, could we please have an option that would mute the thing from everyone, or that the player wearing his backpack only hears it and not everyone else. The quotes from it are clever but 10+ of the same voices speaking through eachother is quite frankly a bit rediculous, not to mention immersion breaking for me atleast.
Thanks.

Mounts to make us travel faster is not what this game needs at all. So many other things anet should prioritize over features for lazy people :P
What people don’t understand is that this game is balanced around PvP. It was a PvP focused game that turned PvE because of a lack of PvP/WvW development. Zerker is meta in pve, but rarely do you get zerker elsewhere except some certain builds in WvW (zerk necro/ele backline DPS and zerk warrior cause warrior) and some DPS point roamers in sPvP (celestial is becoming much more effective in sPvP due to the nature of the game mode, for quite a few classes).
You want diverse builds? Go WvW. I carry 2-3 sets of armor on me depending on the class I play so I can switch between general zerging, solo roaming, scouting and havocing, which all use different builds, traits and utilities.

100% Agree…. 10 matches today vs 9 pre-mades… Lost 9 (ofcourse) -.-
This is why I asked the question. Player perception doesn’t always match the empirical evidence. I pulled up your match history since we launched the new servers.

I had the same issue : connection reset error from the forum and the official site recently. On all navigators I used (Firefox or Internet Explorer 11). I have done nothing, it appears suddenly.
I found the reason. The antivirus (Bitdefender 2015) and the protection web module. There is inside Web protection area, an option, called “SSL analysis” that cause the trouble.
With this option checked, impossible to access forum & GW2 official site. Uncheck this option and the problem was solved.
If you used the same antivirus than me, look at this. As it appears you had the issue after doing a command, I don’t know if it can help ^^
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed an issue in “Meeting the Asura” where the player could be forced into stealth after being discovered.
- Fixed an issue in which players became locked out of their guild banks.
- Fixed a server crash that occurred when players switched teams in ranked and unranked arenas.
- Fixed a bug in which PvP profession records were getting cleared. This fix will cause Unranked Arena wins and losses to be reset. Each player’s Ranked Arena wins and losses will be recalculated from their Team Arena and Solo Arena stats when they log in. Players’ achievements will be unaffected by this change.
- Fixed a bug in which water splashes appeared on terrain in the Silverwastes.

GW2 is a job for me now
Starts at camping teq from 3 to 4, then camping wurm for an hour. You can get away with being a lil late to teq, but not wurm. Reminds me of vanilla WoW trying to set up 40 man raids, but in GW2 it’s 120 man. Raids should be instanced, 10-20 man.
Should I do the same old dungeons or fractal for no good loot? hrmm.. wasted enough time today, let’s go play WoD.
I will never know how GW2 fans are so oblivious to the fact game is rly grindy and requires a ton of wait time to do the only half decent pathetic rewarding content in the game.
Open world that requires 120 people to set up is inferior to instanced raiding ala WoW but most people will deny it up and down and that format is a ‘second job’ when really GW2 is much worse. When I raid with my guild in WoW we literally log in, hop on teamspeak, go to the raid entrance, and begin raiding once inside.
Instanced raids also have the benefit of saving your character to the raid, meaning if you down a boss it remembers and you can progress from that boss onwards and not have to repeat kill every time. (force-resets every week)
Yes, real raids have more than 1 boss fight!
In terms of open world pve absolutely nothing has changed with the megaserver, you still camp the main map for an hour to get a successful run.
But hey.. if we keep logging in, doing our daily routine, in 9 or 10 years that precursor might drop! Game truly feels like a job now, trying to get those impossible drops that will never happen and you’ve completed everything else in the game… we all know no significant content is coming and ANet will ride the LS out until game is completely dead but it’s worth a shot posting this in the hopes they read it and a little light bulb lights up in their head. Not likely, but hey.
GW2 had massive potential. ANet making the same mistakes made by past devs from other major MMOs and those mistakes went really viral and had important impact on those games but I don’t think they are even in the loop. I think they have their fingers in their ear screaming “LALALALA!” and do w/e the hell they want even if it’s not good for the game and all can see it except them.
They don’t even seem to be able to grasp the most simplest of concepts. THEIR OWN concepts from GW1…. I truly truly weep for this once wonderful universe of amazing lore and gameplay… GW2 is not part of that universe.
You know what people say about this games pvp? “lol GW2 doesn’t have pvp.” <— true quote.
I don’t hate the game honestly, but it has lost its spark and is in no hurry to get it back, cuz the devs will not allow it to. And no I’m not talking about the precursor, that spark never dropped in the first place lel.
Most MMOs release more pve content with their gear grinds. It is ugly to release ascended armor and weapons but deny players any decent content with some longevity. ANet is basically just handing people more and more grinds, and they aren’t even trying to hide it… lol at the very least Blizzard makes me forget about the grind MOST of the time. In GW2, it’s in my face 24/7 cuz that’s all I see.
Gods forbid I even attempt gearing an alt… lol not happening in GW2 bro. Eventually I will be unable to log in anymore, I love my friends who play but idk how they can take the mundane task of doing the same thing over and over every day. 30 minutes of a LS episode is just not enough to keep me interested, everything stays the same. Open world zergs is all I’ve seen added to the game thus far.
I tried spending some time in silverwastes after I got all the achievements I was like what’s the point… the loot is garbage, the whole pacman thing was frustrating considering I had just made a post about ANets instagib 1shot mechanics being so annoying so after I got that achievement, I never and will never go back.
Not to mention, big surprise here, it’s just yet another open world zerg with lots of waiting time in between doing mundane tasks.

do the rewards get better or worse with the -3 / +3 rating change?
for example, in terms of gold rewards,
rating / gold
-3 = 10 silvers (equivalent to hotjoin lose)
-2 = 12.5 silvers (equivalent to solo arena lose)
-1 = 15 silvers (equivalent to team arena lose)
0 = 25 silvers (equivalent to solo arena win)
+1 = 30 silvers (equivalent to team arena win)
+2 = 60 silvers
+3 = 1 goldhow would it be oooo justin?
thanks!
I honestly don’t know. Those rewards are part of content and not handled by my servers. Not a bad idea though, I’ll pass it along.

Isn’t possible to give players a choice? Some box where they can tick to either choose a fast match, or a quality match that will take however possible.
There are several ways we might be able to do something like that, but there is no way they will be available with this build. I also don’t know if it be would be wise to split the queue like that. I’ll look into it, but can’t promise anything.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
Basically, your ladder positions would be the sum of every points (-3 – +3) you can gain in a match?
Correct.
Team MMR would be the simply average about every single MMR player or other formula?
Yes, simple average. We compensate for the advantage of party size through the matchmaking and match prediction algorithms.
And another thing…in the new leaderboard, can you show us our positions AND our total ladder points?
Yes, that’s the plan.
Does this mean that if you end up facing players from the top of the leaderboards, you have a lot more to gain than to lose? Or vice versa; if you’re at the top, you can’t gain much but you can lose a lot?
Yes. You can potentially gain more points by losing than they can by winning.
Additionally, are you going to show ladder points on the leaderboard, or before/after games on a pop up?
On the leaderboard, yes. In game, no, not with this build, We did not want to devote resources into new UI work until we get the community’s reactions to this leaderboard.
My concerns are with ladder rank and the ranked area. Based on what I’ve read, I see the potential to abuse this system by initially climbing the ladder on your main profession. Then, when competition gets stiff, swap to a profession and build that you don’t have many games on that traditionally does well at lower ratings.
We’ll need to wait and see. If it becomes an issue we can definitely change the rules.
For example, what’s the incentive, besides integrity, for a someone who never plays engineer to climb to the top 300 of the new leaders boards with their main profession…and then play turret engi, have their MMR adjusted, and boost their ladder points with the wins at this MMR?
If they don’t play a profession often then they should have a high RD, causing their rating to adapt quickly. We’ll keep an eye on it to see if its fast enough to prevent this sort of thing.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
I hope it’s not in this way because it’s very very heavy.
You queued as a warrior, we found a match for a warrior, using your warrior MMR. It wouldn’t be fair to others if we let bypass matchmaking rules, and it opens the door for exploits.
If the full loss for small disconnects becomes an issue, feel free to bring it up again and we can talk about less severe deterrents. As John mentioned, this is an experiment and we’ll be looking at the data and community reaction.

I still have a concern about multiple same professions on an account having different MMR. If all I have to do to game the system on a Warrior is just roll a different Warrior, then that is an issue for sure.
No, it’s profession specific, but not character specific. Your warrior rating will be the same no matter what warrior you’re on.
Yes! Justin, I remember talking about this stuff last year and it is so reassuring to be getting these changes. Thanks so much for all the hard work. It makes it worth the wait!

What I mean is, I enter the match on my garbage Thief. We are waiting for the match to begin. I then swap to my really good Ranger. How is that handled?
You’ll receive dishonor if you leave a match and take a full loss on the leaderboard.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
What’s to keep people from queue-ing as a profession they don’t regularly play so that they enter the match at a lower rank and then swapping to a profession they do play a lot?
Leaving the PvP lobby will remove you from the queue.
Does the system take into account your MMR as a bigger percentage and then your rank?
Yes. Once I’m done with the wiki page you’ll see exact numbers once they’re ready. We’ll be changing them often before the ladder starts, but they should be stable after that point.
I am also wondering if your different professions will have different ranks. Is that the case?
No. Rank is still account wide.
I would love to see that be how it is handled and I would also love to see a leaderboard with “Best overall” that showed players who were really good on numerous professions. It would be a great way to differentiate players and have them be identified as really good on a profession or two or really well-rounded because they are solid on a lot of different professions.
The new PvP backend servers allow for this sort of flexability, but it isn’t currently planned.
Thanks for any info you can provide in regards to my questions! Super excited that this could end up being where I spend a ton of time again!
Glad to hear! I’ve been dying waiting to talk about these changes.

takes a drink
I really, really do not like that outfit. Not because it is not well done, but it just seems to belong into some other game.
The reason precursors feel so nasty to acquire isn’t that they’re too rare. Based on my knowledge of MMOs, players will literally grind for anything. The problem is that they’re too distributed.
Spamming autoattack on world bosses and farm trains shouldn’t get you essentially the same odds for a precursor as Arah or FotM 50. There’s absolutely no reason for there to even be a minuscule chance of them dropping off of trash mobs.
When so much faceroll content has odds of dropping a pre, the odds for any given activity have to be crazy low to keep the supply limited. Players are pushed into this global lottery where nothing feels like progression. Why work my way up to harder content if it won’t even improve my chances?
This leads to a situation where the most effective method is to find the easiest gold grind and buy it off the TP, rather than actually putting any effort into playing the game. This feel cheap to do, and is the reason why legendaries have near zero prestige right now. When you see a legendary these days, all it means is “farmer” or “RNGeesus”.
My suggestion:Take precursors off of trash mob loot tables. Take them out of afk-auto world bosses. Dramatically raise the odds of them dropping in actual content, so that players get to feel like they can do something about getting them, and they regain a bit of prestige factor.
What do you guys think? Would it actually help the process of getting a legendary feel more special, or would it see too much casual backlash?
