In terms of RvR /WvW people like myself who have played both games can make this statement
first daoc . 15 $ a month for rvr in the past pre toa expansion / ea mythic . the rvr for that game was . EPIC
second gw2. no monthly fee for wvw , monthly updates , changes / balances , the wvw for this game is . Carebear
im starting to think that in terms of how things turn out in the end are going to be the opposite but not in every aspect .
for starters . gw2 is not going to change their policy on a monthly fee i assume and as for daoc , they still do the monthly fee so that has not changed nor will it ever .
but here is where i ponder the subtle changes .
where as daocs rvr started out as great and became a flop later on. i look at gw2 wvw as a flop and will turn out great .
point 1.
6 or 7 months in no rank system for wvw gw2 but they finally put it in .
daoc always had a rank system but ruined the ability to increase at low levels later only to be max level to finally get ranked higher ( opposite)point 2.
Daoc has a place called darkness falls where as players who gained control of the rvr map could then enter the zone to earn tokens to buy armor /weapons , but ruined it later with toa expansion .
it’s been rumored that gw2 might install a “darkness falls zone” to lessen up the que times for wvw and give reason for players an incentive to do wvw to get armor / weapons that would be the same as dungeon armor / weapons or possible precursors
(opposite)point 3. in daoc the games rvr system was ruined when they combined servers together which allowed the " Xrealmer" to join what ever winning side they wished for rvr later on .
Gw2 early had some “Xrealmers” but then changed it so that for players to transfer servers , they had to pay in order to get on another server to experience the WvW content of that server . ( Opposite)if things continue the way i see it .. we might be looking at a mmo that might become the late great daoc . that all depends on the staff of arena net for their hard work .
and in that case . Godspeed arena net !!
DAOC was better by far than this game, but it died. End of story.
ps: Darkness Falls came way after Trials of Atlantis. Did you not play the game?
WvW XP also encourages PvE’rs to come to WvW. I have never stomped a group of 15 with 3 so easily in my life. They should do more to bring easy kills to WvW from PvE like this.

ARM approves of this thread. My goal is to get rid of at least half our current server, so we need fresh blood to replace them. Gates of Madness is the best server in the game(including euro zone, if you believe in that sort of thing).
Is HOD recruiting because they can’t compete with ARM?

Likewise Paxa, after our first fight I said “we aren’t going to have more fun than that, lets find them!” . We kept looking for you, ran into NS zergs or GT’s zerg from your side more than I’d care for though. But very fun fights when we met up. I’m glad we pulled off a win once. Were you just running 5 in all those fights?
ARM
To be a good commander just follow the orders of Supreme Commander ARM.
I have never made a mistake.
AoE was reduced to hit a maximum of 5 targets. TBH, I really think AoE is a good thing that helped reduce the zerg mentaility that is in WvW and nerfing it was a bad thing.
My major issue with AoE though, was that it was instant-cast. I think this was because Anet wanted to cater to the casual gamer who doesn’t really take PvP all that seriously.
AoE was always limited to 5 targets. They are talking about an actual damage redesign. And I don’t like the “it counters a zerg excuse”.
The whole few can defeat many mentality is a blatant imbalance to try to counter their imbalanced server populations. Not to mention if the zerg uses that same AoE against them… Duh.
There should be more aiming and focusing of individuals and less dropping bombs on zergs. Would provide so much more depth to large group fights. You actually would have to learn to fight classes instead of masses. <—-Dr Seuss baby.
So… you think that small group that destroyed your ZERG was devoid of skill because they used AOE abilities to do it? What do you think that small group thinks of your ZERG? If you lose fights when you have 4 times the numbers you might want to tell the zerg to learn to fight, not the other way around.
GOM doesn’t outnumber HOD, DH outnumbers us both and just gives you that impression.
Yes, we all understand that…but players should not be purposely using this exploit for an advantage.

The advantage of not having to walk around a mountain to get invulnerability. Regardless of how you look at it, no matter how easy it is to ignore them, this isn’t intended by AN and is an exploit.

I’ve used that spot and I’ve seen whole guilds using it. You’re supposed to be attacked when you jump down that hill, just like every other foot of that hill in that area. That area was clearly overlooked by the devs, and abusing that spot could get you banned.

I’m assuming you’re aged over 12, so I guess you are able to test something out yourself, and assume what is right or wrong.

Your trolling aside, who made you judge of how the game should work? I think my character should be able to insta-kill zergs and fly through walls but that doesn’t mean I’m right. And everyone who attacks someone standing in the invulnerable spot KNOWS that person is invulnerable. Any death they suffer is their own fault for not walking away. It’s not like they are standing in those spots taking down keep walls. I believe the devs put those spots in the game to cull out people not smart enough to walk away.

numbers are a winning factor for ALL sides. Not just ours. Also! we have a lot of good players. since we have more people you just don’t see them often.
I’ll end this by saying you need to take a break and stop getting so mad… When I start getting mad I just step away from the game and watch some comedy movies or something. helps me.

When 20 players with 2 golems cant take hills from 4 player defending is because of why? Thats what us DH had in hills this morning before we starting to treb redlake when you guys busted in. in total, 8 total stop your zerg with the 2 golems in the lord room.
We dont always have the numbers like you claim but we have the will to play better and use hit and run tactics against larger numbers. GoM and HoD great fights this morning

Just because you paid 100 gold to get an icon doesn’t mean you are some master tactician that everyone should have to listen to. I can do more solo than most of the commander lead groups on my server.
