There is a weird bug happening where every patch the elementalist gets nerfed more and more and is currently unplayable. Plans to fix it?

Don’t forget that it triggers the arcana minor trait on each attunement swap… so you basically get an extra 2.5 seconds of fury every 5 seconds.
Yup. If you go Fresh Air, you can skip out on getting Zephyr’s Boon, which means that you can get a more offensive air trait instead.

The OP is completely right. Anyone who thinks ele’s are getting buffed based on the leaked notes doesn’t understand the game at all. Anet is killing the class and after this patch the only ones playing it will be the PvErs who occasionally WvW to give away free kills to everyone else.
If you think a single nerf to bountiful power (the only real nerf in the leaked notes), amidst countless buffs to other skills, is going to destroy the elementalists, you are being dramatic.

Taking away two stun breakers from d/d, IMO that is the final nail in the coffin since the class cant survive without mobility.
Nobody is taking stunbreakers away. They are just being redistributed to different skills so builds that aren’t completely cantrip focused aren’t royally screwed whenever they get hit by a stun.

You would have to be an Anet to run a glyph that gives you burning(already in fire), weakness(already in air), chill(already in water) and cripple(already in earth). If you want to run a glyph that gives you what you already have, and lose out on a teleport that actually keeps you alive be my guest. Oh, and kiss earth 5 goodbye. Since you are running glyphs now good luck landing that one.
Lightning Flash is still in the game. It’s not a stunbreaker anymore, but it still teleports you. If the leaked notes are true they also increased the damage of it by 50% (Turning it into a heavier burst to add to a burst combo) and reduced the cooldown to 40 seconds (Meaning you can use it much more frequently, almost matching Churning Earth’s cooldown). Seems to me they’ve tailored the skill specifically toward landing Churning Earth.
D/D is still far, far, far away from being unusable. Just now your solid cantrip set up isn’t as loaded with stunbreakers as before.
I can still survive pretty darn well without having three stunbreakers on my utility bar. I’m not seeing what the massive problem is.
You think 50% more damage on lightning flash matters? Why would it matter that you do 500 more damage in a fight if you are dead because you couldn’t move? Everyone knows an elementalist who stops moving is a dead elementalist… wait i get it now. You are a PvEr. Yeah none of this will effect your dungeons buddy. I was really talking more for the real players.
Lowest armor in the game, lowest hitpoints in the game, only class that cannot switch from melee to ranged in combat, recently had half their mobility removed, next patch is destroying the rest of their mobility… fact is if you can’t kill an ele you just aren’t good.

No, it shouldn’t be closed. The OP is completely right about ele’s needing a buff.
PvE ele needs just a ultra-high-damage, low-utlility weapon that is clunky enough that it’s unusable in PvP. Something warrior-greatswordy. If the new uber-weapon is never used in PvP it’ll never get nerfed in PvE.
PvE problem solved, PvP balance unaffected.

Yeah I’ve no idea why they are so slow to understand this, but bear in mind they just don’t have this promotion/relegation in American. They don’t understand it.
They seem obsessed with thinking it’s bad because it puts tier 1 against tier 3, but don’t understand it’s worst tier 1 and the best tier 3, which is competitive. Also every other server is matched well. We can see this in fact from the random matchups, they only go to heck when it’s a bigger discrepency in ranks.

Go bs elsewhere, thief has options for everything they need. It’s not like they need the aoe and the x2 damage more than makes up for it. Also thief has enough CC to kill anything.
But alright, I’ll drop another one, why is staff ele (when specced for full dps) so much weaker than shatter mesmer DPS wise? Where is my 7k dps every 15 (or less) seconds on a small aoe?

I agree with the OP, and I’ll add it is long past time the AOE cap was removed from the game.
I agree with the OP. EA you shouldn’t have made the change and the cooldown on RTL should be 15 seconds. Oops I mean anet… same thing?
Sorry to say this guys but since the recent confusion nerf I’ll be retiring my mesmer. All the effort and work I did into getting the gear for her went down the drain. This recent patch has made me feel down and playing my mesmer and trying to get another gear seems like a waste of time and effort since we never know if that build will be nerfed as well (this has happened 3 times now). This isn’t a whining thread I’m just saying goodbye to all my fellow mesmers and hoping that you guys hang in there. Thanks for all your help in the past by sharing your thoughts and builds.Good luck.
Don’t do it! I was told by VERY reliable sources that the other mesmers specs do even more damage than confusion, and that confusion really didn’t even do any damage, so just do that!
Just curious. I’d like to know when I can pick up my ele again and continue doing world completion without getting annoyed at Anet’s esports balancing every time I switch to lightning attunement. In the meantime I’ve been sticking with my 80s that don’t bring down my mood whenever I log into them. Like Warrior and Guardian, forever the (boring) kings of PvE. Whatever happened to a bigger focus on separating PvE and PvP skills?
You know you could try to stick together with your fellow ele’s and ask for just an un-nerf, instead of an un-nerf just for you.
The patch ruined the class. We already got our nerf, there was no reason to totally kill our mobility with this 40 second nonsense. There are classes with MORE mobility, MORE defense, and MORE offense. Double nerfing us was just plain stupid.

Hardcore WvWers means those that spend 80%+ of their total playtime in WvW. They spend less than 20% of their time doing PvE or sPvP.
My question is why would a hardcore WvWer stay in tier 4 or below? Wouldn’t you want to hang out with other hardcore WvWers? Wouldn’t you want to play alongside organized guilds with better tactics? Wouldn’t you want better coverage? Wouldn’t you want tougher competition?
If friendship is important, and that’s the only reason to stay, why not just transfer as a server? Instead of a guild transfer, just get all the hardcore WvWer in a server (regardless of guild) to all transfer at the same time. It is the friendship that’s important, not the server.
If money is a problem (common problem for a WvWer), you can start running dungeons and killing PvE bosses. Even playing casually you should make enough to transfer within a month at most.
If you play that much WvW, I personally see very little reason to stay in tier 4 or below. So enlighten me.
You may think you are hot stuff because you are in tier 3 or above, but the fact is your server just zergs more. A real hardcore WvW player wouldn’t be interested in spamming autoattacks (because that’s all you can do) in massive zerg fights. Real hardcore WvW players want the outcome of fights to be dependent on their skill, not how many people are on their server.

Yes, maximizing the use of all the abilities of your class is the “right” way to play, plain and simple.
I never understood what’s the big deal with RtL anyway (neither the crying of other classes pre-nerf nor the crying here post-nerf). I think RtL in its current form is a good compromise: For its intended use it hasn’t been nerfed at all (I’ll consider the range a fix, not a nerf) and if you misuse RtL as escape tool, you suffer a high cooldown which is actually in the range of other emergency cooldowns.
So you don’t understand it but are weighing in on a “compromise”? There is no compromise in setting the ability to 40 seconds. If you think the intended use was only as an offensive tool, then it has still been nerfed since we can’t chase down targets by only using it once every 40 seconds. D/d eles are now melee only fighters who have to stay in close, but have a third the defense of everyone else.

This was a huge nerf made even bigger by the fact that we already received this nerf and had to adapt before. Now there is no way to keep up the speed needed to play anywhere near the same way. Anyone d/d ele who doesnt feel this nerf wasnt playing right to begin with.

I dissagree, SFR and Deso are falling apart because of massive blobbing and skill lag. These 2 servers had by far the largest amount of skilled guilds. I would love to see them spread out (which they are doing) to lower servers to boost the entire WvW quality and boost the entire WvW competition.
If every server has atleast 3-4 big strong guilds, WvW ladder would be quite interesting.
ps.: what you are saying ain’t our intent. We don’t want to go higher than tier 5.

The thing about engineers is they are 1 trick ponies… with about 3 tricks. Get them to waste their tricks, ride the lightning away, then come back in and smash them.

Up for consideration is the 0/25/0/15/30 build (With bolt to the heart, not air cooldown reduction). With valkyrie stuff. A more offensive minded variant of the valk setup that lets you keep your evasive arcana water rolls.
arcane blast/wave, mist form. Good candidate for ether renewal for the condition clearing.

I think warrior + ele is the most powerful combo in the game.
I have 4 lvl 10 toons and one level 20 toon (thief). I’ve been spending a considerable amount of time on my thief and am loving it so far, I really want to beable to test my abilities in the wvwvw scenario however it seems like all players who max their gear(lvl 80) head there and single out all who have been scaled up to 80 (the weaker players).
It seems to me like to enjoy WvWvW you must infact be 80 to avoid being facepwned,
WvWvW can therefore be a driver to achieve 80 as it can only truly be accessed by max level, which fundamentally means that WvWvW is end-game in gw2?
Considering level 10 is like an hour of gameplay, i think if you were level 80 you would still get facepwned. Spend the time to level up.
yeah probably the same spies that built 75 arrowcarts in garrison and then siege capped us in FA BL.people suiciding our golems,spreading false information, using similar names like the real commander to confuse other people, siege capping(we can’t put rams down or anything). seriously, this is taking out the fun for all of us and i know that other servers have the same problem, but this is getting out of hand!L2P and stop sabotaging.

There are not many people out there that are going to try lots of specs and settle on the worst one. So of course the best is going to be the most common.
Heh, I check the forums after not playing for a while and elementalists here are still as clueless as ever. I ran glass d/d in spvp and wvw and it is 100% viable. Saying it only works vs. bad players is incorrect. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if you think that, you are the one who is bad.
He didn’t say D/D, he said S/D. There is big difference that I would expect you to understand with all your… clues.
I’m pretty sure it’s not ArenaNet’s job to make people do what you want in WvW.
