Out of curiosity Achilles, how is JQ? I have heard good things, but I have also heard bad things from the “no skill, spam 1” crowd.

It’s a lot of fun! Most certainly a lot more than spam 1.

I spent a week on SoR, and even though there is a lot of talent there, I just didn’t quite fit in with the omniblobs.

JQ prefers to run multiple 30 man groups and smaller havoc squads to suit a variety of playstyles. It has it’s moments (all 3 servers colliding in a keep for instance) where skill lag is annoying, but this is not as common as people make it out to be. Ultimately if skill lag is a big turn off, don’t follow the larger zergs :P Plenty of action elsewhere on the maps to enjoy.

APS and friends enjoyed our quaggan/tonic/kite parade on all BLs! Had a JQ 40 man grp blast fire for 6 quggans XD Then later on when we had like 15+ had 2 DB join us, and encountered like 15 JQ who friendly waved, cheered, and poped kites. We don’t usual to RPing stuff like that, but it was lots of fun!

i run 5man havocs (actually fighting other players) in T1 on JQ and T2 has been more promising TBH. If i were to move servers i wouldnt go T1.

Same. I’ve ran with several different small groups (not necessarily 5man, but 5-7) on JQ.

I would think if Anet didn’t want WvW guilds posting recruitment in this sub forum the mods would delete or move the thread. Since they have not done so, it brings me to believe they are ok with WvW guilds using a WvW related forum to find like minded WvW players.

Pretty sure it says server needs are appropriate here. If a servers needs include certain wvw guilds, then so be it. I wouldn’t expect pve or spvp guilds to post here as its not relevant to the server.

The only other thing I could think of is you want something similar to Team Arenas from GW1. I’d recommend looking it up on the GW1 wiki. It was the closest thing I’ve seen in an MMO to what you want. Other than maybe Alliance Battles (also from GW1).

Why not transfer to a server like TC or JQ and use your superior roaming abilities to help overthrow a larger server?

The mentality behind “We can’t make a difference against a 60 man blob / 30 man blob etc” is getting very stale. TC learned that against JQ, last week. TC was running 100 man zergs that were certainly capable of taking down any targeted group, but ultimately couldn’t keep up with JQ’s multiple 30 man groups hitting multiple points.

Havoc squads also contribute to the server in a very powerful way. They combat other squads and harass zergs / towers/keeps while flipping camps.

The “I want 5v5 all day long in WvW” isn’t feasible. sPvP exists for that reason, and you don’t need to focus objectives to get that hunger satiated. I’m sure you could post a request on the forums for 5 man groups to fight and invite to an empty server.

ANET encourages a level playing field for PvP (or at least, in GW1). At the end of the day, you shouldn’t need additional bonuses for whatever rank you are.

In GW1, for winning GvG tournaments (aT / automated tournament), you were awarded reward points which could be used for PvP armor/weapons. HA rank (Heroes Ascent) awarded you with a /rank emote (which we have in sPvP now, but they are by far easier to get in GW2).

GW1 PvP was far superior to any other mmo and far ahead of it’s time. It eventually became watered down, but still is an exceptional example of PvP genius.

They have a ton of kiting abilities that can be cast behind/below them while running. Cantrips help too, of course.

Thought this might make an interesting idea. Not sure entirely of how to implement it, but the idea could add some balance between smaller servers facing larger servers.

While Outnumbered, a player placing siege could have the option of allowing a friendly NPC to operate the siege weapon in place of the player. This would be exclusive to AC’s and ballista, though. (Maybe the flame rams too).

Maybe buff the damage an NPC can do with the siege, but limit the time the NPC can control the siege?

Food for thought.

Yeah… TC’s NA is stacked but they lack the Oceanic/SEA presence they need to truly compete in T1, and with JQ beating them last week T2 will still retain it’s mega-server.

SoS making a T2 comeback would be interesting though..

Aww, that sucks. It was a glimmer of hope to restoring some sense of skilled PvP. What a shame.

SoS is a great community. Very skilled players and very dedicated to their WvW. I recently transferred off SoS to JQ, but that was due to the mismatched fights against Tarnished Coast. Now that SoS faces servers it’s own size, I’d expect you not to have any issues.

Their NA is definitely weak at the moment, but it’s growing stronger with the addition of [Agg] and soon to be [vH].

Their biggest asset right now is their Oceanic crew, who do an amazing job.

why are dragonbrand doing so badly, didn’t they get like 6 new guilds recently and infact FA’s largest NA guild aswell.

They did get a bunch of guilds.

The guilds they did gain like qT and TB were hoping to be carried by DB’s SEA, that is not happening against JQ of course, because JQ’s SEA has WAY more coverage.

They also gained what “used” to be the largest guild on FA [GODS]. Unfortunately for DB, they only got the crappy players(all of 15 or so maybe). All the best and oldest GODS members stayed on FA and formed a new guild called [BOSS].

Meanwhile FA doesn’t have the coverage of other Tier 2 servers like TC or DB, but we are down to farm ya’ll. No big deal, we’ll stay rank 6.

[GODS] was rather squishy…

I enjoy fighting the FA guilds more, they don’t die in the first 3 seconds.

What is amazing is that people seem to think this is a feat that only Blackgate is capable of.

JQ has done it. SoS. SoR. You don’t need to have true 24/7 coverage to cover a 12k stretch…it happens by chance and circumstance, like when one side shows up and the other doesn’t.

Yeah, TC made up over 30k points monday and tuesday last week against JQ and we have nowhere near 24/7 coverage. It’s a combination of our stacked NA, and JQ taking those days off. They didn’t show up to fight much until wednesday.

I have gained soo much respect for the JQ community, to survive all that they have. Most servers would have fallen apart

I’m not disagreeing that that happened, but the world didn’t revolve around Noodles either. I didn’t leave JQ (for a bit) to follow Noodles, I left to follow FIRE (eventually) because, even though it was my opinion they were idiots for leaving JQ, they were my idiots. It was ultimately my personal frustration with the WvW there compared to how I prefer to play that sent me back home to JQ. Besides, home is where the heart is, and mine was chiseled in the Quarry.

JQ has a ton of GW1 veterans, which is why I think ultimately JQ is one of the most stable servers in the game.

I personally am an FA NA member who plays on EB I can only describe Jade Bags and Dragonbags one way. Those two servers are like a baby’s butt; they are always getting wiped.

Come play with the big boys and girls on a borderland during NA Prime. Measuring a server’s performance by roaming in EB is like describing a band’s sound y looking at their album cover.
