FA was bringing it last night… most impressive. I had more fun fights with FA last night than ever before (including my SoS days). Loved it. Dragonbrand… well, you’ve officially been renamed. I feel that BAGonbrand is most suitable.

Ok so after a lot of review and Guesting in a few servers here and there, Im deciding to Transfer to JQ. Community is great there and if they can survive that punch they took earlier, then I think they will be able to withstand a lot.

Can you imagine if SoS got a couple more NA guilds? Strong Oceanic presence on a server is such a rarity and coupled with SoS’ unstoppable oceanic force a few NA guilds would make SoS a scary T2 opponent.

If you’re looking for an oceanic server, there is no better server than Sea of Sorrows. It is the (un)official Oceanic server. If you’re Aussie you were literally born to be there.

JQ would love to have a new NA guild. Don’t dismiss JQ as skill lag T1, as we are currently in our second week of T2. JQ has one of if not the strongest SEA presence, oceanic is fine. NA does not get rolled, generally the ppt is even, which is making for some very fun fights (without skill lag 1 spam )

My guild wanted to transfer. I QQ’d a lot over transferring. I miss Errawen, Hammy, Slim and Mich!

I wish SoS could get it’s NA presence boosted by some guilds transferring in. Balancing out it’s amazing Oceanic coverage would make SoS a strong T2/3 server.

Come to JQ! I left SoS for JQ last Thursday and have loved the game so much more. (Sorry Rooster, but it’s SoS who’s facing tough times, glad you guys got Agg though).

I would say replace BG with TC as an option, since BG is full and TC is an amazing community with a lot of WvW and PvE to satisfy your needs.

I don’t know much about Dragonbrand other than they are doing well against SoR/BG and they had some transfers recently, so they may be a great choice also.

Borlis your NA could always transfer to SoS, and be a T2 contender

Now I don’t want to start the discussion again, but both are called GvG. In guild wars 1 this was 8 people, in guild wars 2 it is 20 people.

Now personally I’m with Yaro that 8vs8 can’t be considered GvG as 8 people is only a small percentage of a guild. While 20 people can be the active part of a guild.

For both formats there is demand and although you said there was more demand for Guild wars 1 GvG, I can tell you there is more demand for gw2 GvG.

In guild wars 1 there were 319 guilds of 8 players = 2552 players.
In guild wars 2 there are currently 179 accounts requested on gw2gvg.com. On average gvgs are 20 people = 3580 players.

Now this doesn’t mean the one format is better or more fun than the other, for both is demand and both are fun.

Calling something zerging or w/e without understanding how the game mode works is ignorant.

lmao. That is the worst possible example of statistics. 2007-2010 there were over 1000 guilds on the ladder for GW1 GvG. Also, just because 8 people played for a guild in one match does not mean that was the guild’s size nor the number of core players for that guild. 319 guilds? That’s how many there are in the post-GW2 launch ladder. Don’t confuse the numbers of a game that’s fallen from it’s prime with a game that’s supposed to be peaking.

That’s exactly what’s wrong with the mentality behind “GW2 GvG.” You people seem to think it can’t be counted as true Guild vs Guild unless you can zerg it. Aha

For someone with GW1 background, sure that must sound weird. For those who didn’t play GW1, there’s no problem, it fits quite well.

Pesonally, I find GvG term even less fitting for corresponding GW1 activity than for what we call GvG in GW2. But that’s just me.

If you find it less fitting for GW1 GvG you are sadly misinformed. In GW2 it is simply a deathmatch with no counterplay, just fotm spamming.

I fail to see how particular mode of the match, be it TDM or CTF, makes setup more “GvG” title worthy or less. For me it is irrelevant to the term.

Well, most importantly, GW1 had actual GvG with Guild vs Guild tournaments, hundreds of guilds participating, Guild Halls, and hundreds of builds and well known strategies strictly for GvG.

If nothing else, I feel it’s a huge insult to the hundreds (thousands?) of players who ran real Guild vs Guild.

I understand you are apparently too emotionally attached to the term for objective discussion.

For me game mode that is worthy of the title would be something that allowed a guild to dispatch most of its forces to the same battlefield and would require strategic and tactical cooperation across the whole guild. So anyone taking part in this activity would feel like he is actually fighting right here and now for the guild, as part of the guild and with the guild.

Nether GW1 nor GW2 don’t quite qualify for that, but in my opinion GW2 unofficial “GvG” thing comes closer purely due to numbers involved. Though it lacks structure, side objectives and complex evolution of competition over time.

I don’t have huge experience with different MMOs but the one I was playing before GW2 came pretty close to it with a weekly battles for their “resource islands” on a map that had 24 players limit per team and number of objectives that each team was either defending or capturing depending on wether guild is attacking another guild’s island or defending their own.

And man if it was exciting, strategically deep and addictive. It made guild competitions so much distinct and tense, at the same time making guilds’ strength and cohesion as a whole so much important.

Thats actual GvG. 8vs8? Sorry, no.

Any massive update would be completely ignorant on the part of Anet. The only way to fix something that is broken is by repairing it one piece at a time. That is exactly what you see the devs doing! Why people don’t get this, I’ll never understand. If you have ever been any kind of game developer, you would understand. Shoot, even if you’ve been in a game that failed because they did some massive update that caused problems, you might understand. Sometimes I wonder how developers even maintain their sanity with everyone and their dog wining about something.

By the way, the issue here isn’t massive update versus smaller update. The issue is updates at all, whether bug fixes, balance fixes, or additional content. The complaints about WvW all center around the general lack of attention paid to it by ANet versus the amount of development effort that apply to PvE. I would have thought that had been obvious, but apparently not.

I’ll ignore the personal attack and say that they have been adding constant updates to WvW since day one. They haven’t been ignoring WvW at all. They have been focusing on their two week updates mostly because that is what the game is all about. The game doesn’t revolve around WvW. Neither is WvW being ignored, though. The sooner the community realizes this, the better.

You do have a point. But no one really cares about Siege Mastery trait lines. To the average WvW’er, the effort being put into WXP is just a waste of resources.

A bigger map, or more WvW character skills (even if they were just cosmetic) would be a far better use of dev time. No one wants to trade their 15 character skills for the 3-5 skills on a piece of siege.

Ugh, thank you for pointing that out. The siege mastery updates are so boring. If they were a part of a larger update or overall change to wvw, that’s one thing. Having them as the wvw update is silly at this point.

Hello fellow members of JQ and anyone on other servers as well!

Recently I transferred to Jade Quarry from my homeland Sea of Sorrows. As I am used to fighting in smaller organized groups I wish to continue this by operating a havoc squad here in the Quarry, using specific team compositions. Though we would be running as a small man group, we will be openly communicating with larger guilds/zerg forces on the map. This will be an opportunity to hone individual skill and learn stronger teamplay skills as well!

We do not run with the zerg, we stay 3 steps ahead
