Just did fractal 97, the new Thaumanova and I wanted to give feedback.

Short summary: Some good changes, some not-so-good ones and some issues you might want to address relatively quickly.

The Good
1) The final boss has a breakbar. Nice addition.
2) The addition of the action key that allows you to protect a platform from dropping is good,but could be better (but see “The Not-so-Good” below).
3) The “free the trapped workers” event is nicely streamlined. Nice change.
4) The Heat Room seems to work nicely provided you bring cooling rods. I have always hated this room, and if I am honest, I do not truly like it now, but it I find the changes “tolerable” if I can say it this way (an improvement).

The Not-so-Good
1) Subject Six: this fight is yet another example of too much reliance on the dodge mechanic. I am getting a bit tired of it, to be honest. I have been quietly hoping that you would come up with some more variety. I do not understand (yet) the difference between the different types of oozes, but this fight was painful for our group (4x condi reaper + druid almost-meta). I know a thing or 2 now that will help to adjust in the future, but the fight is slower and messier than before.
2) Unkillable golems in the laser room. Try it, you will understand without further explanation from me. It seemed quick, but I had a routine for this puzzle, and it is now just very different. I actually liked killing the golems in the old version.
3) Rather a lot of clutter as you enter the fractal. You say it should be overall faster at the high levels. I found this to be incorrect.

The “please fix this asap”
1) Way too many platforms during the final boss fight are disappearing. The action key is of limited use because of the long cooldown. IMHO it should reset for every “platform drop” phase. This would go a long way towards addressing my issues with “too many platforms dropping” feature.
2) Reviving allies is forced at the “in combat” rate and is very slow, even when you are not in combat. Seems to be a slight flaw in the AI and/or the crazy number of mobs in the fractal.

So overall, a mixed review from my first run. Overall I did not have the impression that it was faster or streamlined. It seemed to be the opposite, actually.

There is a growing thread on reddit that might be worth reviewing, and a temporary spike in interest in this seemingly unfinished chain …

A thought occurred to me … how many maps have no rifts in them? If you look into this you discover they are all the starter maps, plus Divinity’s Reach. Every city except DR has a rift … curious. Every starting map does not have a rift … maybe not so curious.

(Hypothetical thought) If there was a rift in DR, where would it be? Crown Pavillion has always spawned interesting theories about things that could/should/might be down there.

Must there be a rift in every map (except starters, or even starters)?

Could this lead to finding the significance of 97?

"Into the Labyrinth" NPCs bugged

Still broken as of last night. This bug makes it extremely challenging to beat the boss, but it is doable … just rage-inducingly, armour-destroyingly slow. Bring a ranged damage dealer, repair canister(s) and a truck load of patience.

@ Devs: Please acknowledge and fix. Can we escalate this by getting some well-known streamer to record this?

Wintersday Skritt Hit daily is so broken

You cannot drop snow balls, then throw them at NPC Skritt, for example around Arcallion Waypoint in Harathi Hinterlands.

You cannot drop snowballs then throw them at Skritt you find near the big bouncy presents randomly on any Tyrian map (because you cannot use the snowballs in combat).

You cannot throw snowballs at Skritt in the Wintersday area in Divinity’s Reach, cuz everyone kicks them away.

Exactly how do you intend us to complete this daily?

Dunno if “that problem” is back again or not. Game seems to be unplayble after the patch. I have been spending my time in Bitterfrost Frontier, on the EU servers.

Pings are horrible, even after resetting my router 3 times. Just like when the DDoS stupidity was going on. I know not everyone is affected, but just like last time it was affecting parts of Europe before everyone else.

Or maybe there is an issue with the Wintersday instance bugginess affecting connectivity? Seems a bit of a stretch perhaps.

German Telekom, if it matters/helps. And Pingplotter shows issues after NCSoft’s gateway.

So does this mean Black Lion Chests will be updating again? Will we be getting Wintersday Gifts as the seasonal item, in place of the Frozen Exotic Weapon Fragment?

Some warning before the removal of the Fragment from BL Chests would be nice, IMHO. This is far more useful than a Trick-or-Treat bag, or Wintersday Gift or the usual seasonal items we would expect to see.

Just to be clear, the server restart as part of the update unblocked/reset this event, so that it is doable until the next time it stalls.

I was searching Google and Forums and found that the Feb 23, 2016 patch fixed the issue that I am having today … so I guess it is bugged again …?

Meteorlogicus III—Grawl Devotion: Fixed a bug that would cause the “Escort the Order of Whispers team to the grawl camp” event to stall.

It is currently bugged at the moment. The event has stalled and the NPCs are stalled at the base of the mountain. I have tried everything a player can do in-game to try to get this to reset, but it has not worked.

This is the only thing I need to finish off Meteorlogics 3: Storm. I guess a server reset is needed and/or a bug fix.

EDIT to add: oops, looks like this is a Known Issue. Hope it is fixed soon. It would be nice to have an in-game reset that the players can use (without malicious people deliberately buggering it up).

Around 13:00 to 13:30 CET today, fractals became unplaybly laggy, just like during the DDoS attacks during the week.

Wonder if someone is active again.

If not, then maybe German Telekom is up to no good.

Bit of a double post, sorry, but I guess this is probably the correct place …

Fractals are unplayable due to crippling lag. Pingplotter shows all nodes after NC Soft’s internet connection to have packet loss.

Please investigate and fix.

I am in Germany, with German Telekom.

EDIT to add: For a refreshing change, WvW is playable without issues, but everything else (that I normally do — fractals, gathering, map exploration etc) is laggy.

So it’s Sunday again, 1 week later. Same problem. No issues Wednesday – Saturday. EBG is unplayable and the other 3 home borders seem to be fine (so far, but it is only 9:30am).

IP for EBG is 206.127.159.92 and pings are over 1000
IP for SFR home BL is 206.127.159.123 and pings are approx 30
IP for GH home BL is 206.127.146.64 and pings are approx 30
IP for DL home BL is 206.127.146.31 and pings are approx 30

I know that overnight Saturday -> Sunday EBG activity was very high. Most keeps and towers were reset from tier 3 to tier 1 throughout the map. Do you guys have memory leaks in EBG? Or are EBG servers somehow weakened by the heavy load on Saturday nights?

Please investigate.

New Worlds

Interesting thread. How are you determining “population”?

Let me establish a few terms. For me …

“Population” is total server population. This is a very different, in some cases much bigger number than “WvW Population”.

“WvW Population” is the combined number of players who play in both the Mist War and Edge of the Mists.

“Mist War Population” is only the players who play in the Mist War. This is EBG and the three Borderlands and excludes EotM.

“Edge of the Mist Population” is only the players who play EotM and who avoid the Mist War. Let’s not shy away from the fact that there is snobbery and insecurity in both of these last 2 populations towards the other. I personally do not see why, I play both.

Arenanet almost certainly have the metrics in place to determine all of these populations. Now there is a time variable, of course. Population changes during the course of the day. Some servers have good night coverage, others only have population during prime time.

If you calculate population distributions on each server for each of the populations, you might find you get closer to balanced population overall. You will never be 90-100% accurate, because as soon as a subpopulation takes a 2 week vacation, the number become less than the ideal.

This might sound like a bit of a headache, but I consider this to be the first step on the development of a very complex population-balance algorithm, and not trying to be confrontational, but I consider the development of this algorithm to be the job of the WvW team. Not wanting to put too fine a point on it, but this is an essential part of WvW balance. Maybe it seems like a 4-year PhD thesis, but I would bet other MMOs have done analogously complex algorithm development already.

As for “encouraging or discouraging people from moving” … I think this needs to be given careful consideration. I would never use “never” to block people moving to a full server, because maybe that full “population” server has a low “Mist War Population”. Case in point: my server, The Seafarer’s Rest.

In order to establish suitable population baselines, you might consider a “WvW week” or “WvW Month” in which you encourage people to play actively. Maybe you need events, Arenanet Devs actively playing (even on EU servers) online and possibly even prizes .. .possibly … maybe. Make it clear to the WvW population that these population baselines will form the basis of your population algorithm

Since about noon-ish CET today, I have found the game to be unplayable. It is a public holiday in Germany, so maybe internet traffic is high.

I use Pingplotter to check in game IPs, and all the packet loss is behind Arenanet’s connection to the internet (as far as I can tell).

I am with Duetsche Telekom.

Pings are variable, 200-2000 for the past 3 hours or so.

I have tried the “-clientport” command line with 80, 443 or removing it altogether. No difference that I can discern.

WvW portals into towers, for example, are just horrible, because I stand there for 3-5 minutes before I get inside.

I am getting the Code=7:11:3:191:101 error, telling me to wait and try again in a few minutes.

So why is Arenanet’s ISP or connection so bad?

I can do anything else other than GW2 without any issues. it is only this game that has the problem.

Happy to consider any reasonable advice, and interested to hear from anyone at Arenanet that can speak about the stability (or lack thereof) of the game/connection to the internet at Arenanet’s end.

EDIT to add: The/my problem seems to be only in the Mist War. Edge of the Mists does not have the problem. Maybe because it is rather empty after the re-linking.

Second EDIT: Seems to be only in EBG that I have this problem. Other border seems to be fine. The EBG instance is 206:127:159:152 if it matters.

Please consider the following suggestions as Quality of Life changes in fractals. It is primarily about loot that ends up taking up too much space in the bank:

1) Ascended Salvage Tools now drop (again) as singles, and the drop rates are relatively high. Please give us the ability to stack both the singles and the 5-stacks into the 20-stacks, as well as to combine new ones with old ones. At one point I had 6 of the 20-stacks. I still have 3, and now 5 singles on top. 8 bank slots is way too much. I would even love it if they could stack up to 250, but that might be too much to hope for.

2) Mist Potions and Large Mist Potions and Infinite Mist Potions. I love the Infinite potions, but I get way too many of the regular and large potions. It seems I get even more, now that I have all 3 infinite potions. Please give us a way to “sell” the non-infinite ones for fractal relics or pristine fractal relics or stabilizing matrices. Even better, if we have all 3 infinites, don’t give us the non-infinites as rewards. Maybe have that loot drop re-roll on the loot table for a higher chance of an ascended armour or weapon box. Anything else (other than perhaps a 20-stack of stabilizing matrices, perhaps) would be not useful. Yes, I said it, Infused Ascended Rings are not so useful. I have enough as it is. And with my luck salvaging them gives me exactly 2+2 or 2+3 stabilizing matrices. I managed 2+20 once … seems ages ago.

3) Did I mention that I love the Infinite Mist Potions? But do I really need to click on all 3 of them every 30 minutes? Please consider an automatic, permanent buff if I have all 3 in my inventory (or shared inventory slot). It can be “only inside fractals” if you are afraid of people running around with the buffs in pvp/wvw/open world (dunno why this would be a problem, tbh).

Disconnects and the new current event

Disconnects in Dry Top (Class 1 rift progress) seem to occur every 5 minutes. Rumour has it the DCs reset your progress and you have to do it all again. If this is true you have a serious flaw in your event design.

Since we have to wait up to 10 minutes for some rifts to spawn, DCs every 5 minutes are a huge problem. If, in addition, a DC resets event progress, then this event is utter crap. Server/connection stability has been bad for months. And it will start to look like you are relying on live servers for beta testing.

Colour me indifferent to Skirmishes. I am on Seafarer’s Rest [EU] and this is neither an improvement nor the opposite. I note that enemies often play the system by increasing their PPK activity level in the last 30 minutes of the match. This seems artificial IMHO, primarily because a low population server like SFR cannot do this. So I guess skirmishes seem to be hurting the “low population but somehow rated as high population” servers like SFR and Gunnar’s Hold.

If anything the skirmish system is awkward because the matchups are so screwed. If you fix the matchups, maybe I would be less indifferent towards skirmishes.

Server Linking Discussion

I would like to add my voice to the discussion.

I play on Seafarer’s Rest [EU]. We were formerly a heavyweight in the WvW community, but due to numerous reasons, SFR is now a low population WvW server. We have a huge total population, and a strong EotM population, but neither of these should count when it comes to matchups or pairings, in my humble opinion. The current match-up system is simply not providing meaningful fights or fun, and I am mystified as to why we have not already been relegated to the pool of servers who get linked with “bigger” servers.

Right now we are matched with Ruins of Surmia, which is even smaller than we are, so whoever we fight, we will automatically lose (well, except Gunnar’s Hold, maybe — I have been following threads on them lately). They are another example of a server for whom the current matchups system is completely failing.

Frankly, I am surprised that I even need to post any of this. What population numbers are Arenanet using to determine pairings and matchups? I would ask you to be more transparent in this regard because the system just seems to be very bad for high and low population groupings right now. We have all seen the befuddlement over the pairings at the high end.

So I would ask the WvW team to assign numbers like this for calculating matchups and pairings …

<server name> <casual mist war population> <active mist war population> and ignore all other population numbers.

“Active Mist War population” should be the number of players who play a certain minimum number of hours per day in WvW (say, 6 or 4 or something). Alternatively, consider hours per week. This excludes time spent in Edge of the Mists and PvP and PvE.

Now I would do pairings on the basis of combined “active mist war population” only (multiple servers), or maybe a weighted calculation of 80% active + 20% casual. And then matchups should be about getting roughly equal populations to fight each other. Variance should be within +/- 5%. And here is the key, you reduce (or increase) the number of tiers to ensure you have equal populations in each tier. Let the server/player skill be the key to determining which tier the server plays in, rather than allowing the active population to determine whether a server goes up or down.

If you tell me this is exactly what you are doing already, I would be reluctant to believe it. However, maybe there is a time-of-day or time-of-week variable in the population. This makes calculations more complicated I guess and would require further thought.

New Current Events or mobs or ...?

This morning while on my way to one of the vistas in Silverwastes, there was a massive “Legendary Bloodstone-Crazed Devourer” just north of Camp Resolve. I have never seen this mob before.

Is it new with the latest patch (Sept 20 / LWS3E2)?

There do not appear to be new “Current Events” achievements (or non-hidden, at least).

1) Will you please stop making massive changes to fractals every 2-3 months? This is killing my desire to play in this game mode. I do not give a monkey’s behind if you want Fractals to be a stepping stone for raids. I do not want this, because raids are IMHO the wrong content for this MMO. I will not do raids any time soon because …

1a) The game population are not supportive enough of taking learners into 10 man “most difficult content in the game” content. Sure, they are nicer than the WoW community, but there are still not at the level needed to make this a satifactory and relaxing exercise for me.

1b) “The most difficult content in the game” only re-enforces the meta because most people want easy solutions, for speed, and short-cuts for loot. Meta = bad.

2) Who are the testers who tested every rank of Cliffside (1-100) with the new Instabilities? Answer: nobody. If the job would have been done correctly they would have commented with valuable insights like …

2a) The gloopy circle AoE from the Chaos Fractal should only be appearing in the final boss fight, because the rest of the map simply does not have space for this effect (i.e. narrow corridor between arms and narrow platforms at other non-boss fight locations).

2b) The Arch Diviner should not be targeting players who are in the process of moving away from the party and dropping this same AoE away from the fight. Because this is unavoidable death.

The fractal portion of this patch makes me think the players are the alpha testers. There are no shortage of nice QoL additions, but vendors and a new map layout do not need parties-of-5.

If you feel the need to put out massive changes like this again, then please consider putting together at least 3 (better 5) different parties to do the full 1-100 set of fractals before making the content “live”. And might I suggest at least one of those parties should be casual players playing:

1 engineer
1 thief
1 condi or condi PS warrior
1 guardian
1 ranger (not druid)

Cliffside is so bad right now in Tier 4 you will want either a guild group on <insert your choice of VoIP> or a party with a dedicated healer. Molten Boss (90) and Mai Trin (100) were comfortable with the toughness changes. Cliffside (84 or 94) was just horrible with the new Instabilities.

Bug or not, the slow progress of this event is very frustrating. Collecting the 5 sensors is engaging (if simple) but the fact that she is not moving to a new map after more than 1 day is ruining the immersion.

Frenzy III: Rage bugged (?) events

Lashoosh Friendship Bracelet event seems to be either bugged or on an extremely long and/or unpredictable timer. There are some suggestions throughout the internet that the event only ever happens once per game patch, and never recurs. I have no way to prove or disprove this, but this is worth investigating, please.

Moshpoipoi Friendship Bracelet event has 2 variants … a “defend” and a “retake” (in the event that the “defend” fails). The “retake” event does not count towards the collection, but once the “defend” fails, the “retake” is the only variant that ever occurs (as far as I can tell). I have been watching the events for 3 days now and only the “retake” event has ever spawned in this time frame. I think this is also worth investigating. If it suffers from the same problem as the Lashoosh event above, then it probably needs to be fixed.

EDIT I had one more look at Moshpoipoi … if you “retake” and wait for the event to spawn again, you have the opportunity to “defend”. Success gives you credit for the collection. The wait is about 10 minutes. Nothing tragic.

I would be happy to be proven wrong on either of both of these.

Grumpy about Bloodstone Sightings/Harvest

Most of this achievement pair is quite immersive, to be fair, but I have some gripes that I would like to make the Devs aware of, because they really detract from the event. Context: I myself am struggling to find the Arctodus, after getting all the others.

1) The mobs are “available” according to Levvi’s Device, but the big flaw is the device still shows them as “available” after they have been killed. They never spawn again (EDIT: within the same “availability” window) so people are left being mislead for the rest of the “availability” period, which can be 30-45 minutes (maybe more).

2) There are no Arctodus in Gendarran Fields. None in the wiki and none that I could find with a follow-up check. So why does the achievement UI element say that they can be found in this map?

3) Another bad element of the design is that people are forced to stand around for a long time waiting for their target(s) to spawn (assuming you want a guarantee or near guarantee of finding them). Surely there is a better optimum between “show up and it spawns immediately” and “run around killing mobs for 20-30 minutes”.

Please consider these points as more-or-less nullifying an otherwise immersive story event, and also consider how this can be fixed.

The new Swamp [Merged]

Level 77 Swamp is the wrong place for “stepping stone into raids”. This is what level 90-100 are for.

IMHO 100 should be the hardest in the game,so let me add my voice to that. I have enjoyed the 100 fractal, although the Technician outside is not to my liking (a bit over-tuned IMHO).

I do not advocate making all the 90-100 even harder than they are now. IMHO difficulty seems right as is. Maybe the devs should consider different mechanics to 90-100, but that opens up other problems.

77 is not the place for “hardest non-raid content in the game”. Maybe the raids are over-complex.

The new Swamp [Merged]

The new T4 Swamp is just really, really bad overall.

The Whisp stage at the start is different. I am not certain yet if all 5 people participating in the mini-event is necessary (with the rifles). Groups will need to get used to it, and may need to tolerate a few fails while they do so. Not so tragic.

No issues with Mossman. It is different (not massively so), and it is not complex. Not a heart-attack inducer.

Bloonhunger … where to begin. This fight is absolutely horrible.
1) He does too much unavoidable damage. There are way too many circles on the ground and they move/spawn way too fast. You will get hit with one and death is unavoidable because you will necessarily get hit with a lot more. Unavoidable chain damage resulting in unavoidable death is not cool.

2) When you wipe, the fight does not reset. All mobs that have spawned remain, including the poison flower things and all the AoE damage they create. Sloppy IMHO.

3) Steep learning curve. Sorry, designers, but this was a mistake IMHO. Fractals are supposed to be (relatively) quick. In the end, this fractal ends up being very slow.

For me the changes in this fight are too many. It is simply too different combined with too much complexity. It is not Bloomhunger anymore. It is a new boss with a too-high learning curve.

The Cliffside change back in the Spring was awesome. This change is the opposite because, while getting to Bloomhunger is suitably streamlined, surviving the fight with a pug will end up costing you so much time that the fractal becomes unrewarding and painfully slow.

Gathering confusion ... or possible bug?

So I have gotten in the habit of pillaging Malchor’s Leap for lumber, ore, and selected plant nodes (omnomberries, truffles & seaweed). And by pillaging I mean collecting all of the nodes of the listed type.

I have noticed that the ore nodes never respawn when the map resets (ie maintenance, or any other reset mechanism). But the lumber (well, not the Orrian Saplings, but this is explained in the wiki) and plant nodes all respawn, many in exactly the same location. I can accept that Orichalcum and Rich Mithril nodes won’t respawn, but why not the regular mithril nodes?

Is this intentional for some reason I do not understand, or is this a bug that has been overlooked for a long time?

Curious and confused.

People keep saying 75% all the time, and swearing by it, but it never worked for me. I got the collection done with the water grave on the second defense phase, not the first. Stand at his left arm, with the western defense event at your back. Be one of the slower ones to move to the defense event when the time comes.

I managed to do this recently, but it was frustrating. It took 5 attempts, on “good” maps and “bad”. I found the trick was as follows:

In the lead up to the second defense phase, fight in melee range of his left arm (his left, not yours) and defend the western event. You will never see the whirlpool effect, do not bother looking for it. If you do it right, you will have his left arm in front of you and the western event behind you. Be one of the slower ones to get to the defense, and you should probably find yourself sucked under water.

Wood Node bugged in Guild Hall

I have looked into this from the perspective of the upgrade pathways, because I noticed no Ancient Wood Logs also (current guild level 55, but noticed since early 40s). The problem isn’t that the synthesizers are bugged to not reward Ancient Wood Logs. The problem is that there is no Lumber Synthesizer 6 guild upgrade … none whatsoever. Follow the path … it ends at Lumber Synthesizer 5.

There is, of course, an Ore Synthesizer 6, which is why Orichalcum Ore is rewarded from time to time.

My guess is that the lack of Lumber Synthesizer 6 was an oversight.

Hope this helps to get it found and fixed.

I have not played in WvW mode before, but when I chose my home server (6 months ago) I selected one that was doing well in WvW, because I knew I would get in to it eventually. Now might be the time to get involved, considering the changes made in the last patch. Am I correct?

How do I find a WvW guild? I have tried standing in my server’s Desert Borderlands and talking in map chat, but I am just ignored (and frankly, the population on that map is not very large for some reason). How do I start looking for a WvW guild?

Really cool fight though, much improved mechanics and fun factor. However, a few issues were noted.

Map crashed or a load of us DCed at the end of the event. The map might have been completely full. (Instance 146 on the EU megaserver),

Some of the loot was reset depending upon when you opened your bouncy chest(s) relative to the crash/DC.

Final chest bugged for some people (interact was not an option).

I have figured out that spamming “interact” is a mistake. The way to do it is to Click “interact” and wait 5 seconds for it to register, otherwise you seem to reset the “register algorithm” every time you re-interact.

When? [Approximation/intended target perfectly acceptable, and we understand it could be delayed.]

How do we get it?
[Tyrian mastery points? I have all 49 and count an additional 17 available, but these are rather challenging things like Living Season 2 story mastery, collections, Silverwastes golden lost badges, etc.]

[Maguuma mastery points? I have all 112 (161 total but missing the 2 from the raid) and count an additional 23 available, but these are from crazy difficult things like gold in many of the adventures, plus a few random less difficult things.]

If it needs mastery points to unlock (a fair expectation IMHO) there might need to be more points added to the game unless they want it limited to the very few who can manage to do everything.

Kind of makes me wonder if this is coming with a big content addition … something like Living Season 3 (assuming this is the next stage in the GW2 story). Makes me think we might have a bit of a wait ahead.

I am also getting an extremely slow download of the patch. It’s 6:30 am in Central Europe and usually the traffic load at this time is extremely light,

To be honest, parts of Central (and maybe Eastern also) Europe have had laggy periods during the evenings for at least 2 weeks now. I am with Deutsche Telekom and, using Ping Plotter freeware it shows consistently that the problem is where the trace route meets NC Soft’s servers (beyond this point, the packet loss just increases).

Respectfully, I ask ANet to look into these issues.

Guild trek "quirkiness" and suggestion

Did guild treks tonight and Friday, and I have one grumble and a suggestion …

Quirk/bug/difficulty: Interacting with the trek location is buggy. We actually failed one mission tonight because the location would not activate. We had 3-4 people standing inside it, and it took (literally) 2-3 minutes without the interaction registering. Other locations often take 1-2 minutes to register.

I do not know if this is due to multiple people spamming, and the game trying to register an interaction, or if there is some other issue.

Suggestion: Before the trek mission is activated, the UI mentions <number> of <total> (like “17 of 30”). Once the trek is activated, this designation is lost, and it makes it rather difficult to find your assigned target.

I find it “normal” that a guild will assign people to specific targets based upon <number> of <total> due to time limits. So could we please have the <number> of <total> text remain after the trek mission is activated, and have it next to the location’s name?

I am looking for Pristine Shadow Claw, for my Reaper specialization collection (Dark Harvest). I have killed numerous smokescales in Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Tangled Depths and Dragon’s Stand without success (50+ at the latest count).

The Wiki is a bit misleading, it seems (“shadowscales” = smokescales is the assumption).

Any advice & suggestions regarding where to look, specific mobs/boss smokescales to kill etc would be very helpful.

Crafting Woes: Cavalier's Inscription

I am trying to learn the Cavalier’s Orichalcum Imbued Inscription recipe, in order to craft and modify exotic and ascended weapons. I am having no luck finding the recipe after doing the following (some of which may have been a waste of time):

1) I bought exotic Cavalier’s weapons from the TP and salvaged them with Black Lion Salvage Kits (I have loads of these … somehow). I gave up after 26 attempts and zero inscription recipes.

2) I bought the inscription from the TP and used it to discover a longbow recipe. This did not give me the recipe for the inscription, however.

3) I spent 21 000 karma and bought the Angu’s Ascended Inscription recipe from one of the crafting vendors. This recipe still requires the exotic inscription.

At this point I started getting a bit “hot under the collar” as we say. The wiki says that you need to salvage exotic weapons for the inscription recipe. I did that with no success. And so I am looking for help and advice.

The inscription recipe is known to players and made and sold on the TP, so the recipe must be available. And yet I cannot seem to learn it.

One example from tonight was The Skritt Sentry Defense guild challenge. Squads hopelessly bugged this up and rendered it impossible to do. By this, I mean the NPC said the mission was closed.

Please fix, and spend some time reviewing the stability of the squad UI and the impact on all of the “group content” of the game.

Mastery Mystery

So I counted up all the mastery points for all 3 Tyrian tracks (Pact Commander, Legendary Crafting and Fractal Attunement). The number is 49. But I started the expansion with 39 points, not certain why (100% map completion, perhaps?).

So how do we get the extra 10 needed to (eventually) complete all 3 tracks? Do these come from having a surplus of Hero Points?

At night-time in Verdant Brink, the chopper in the area of Faren’s Flyer Waypoint seems to take you near to the POI at Silent Woods, which is above a very different chopper (I never recorded the ground location for this one).

This assumes that choppers go primarily “up and stay relatively near their ground location” and not “up and significantly away from their ground location”.

Yes and Yes. And we finished within the time limit.

This seems to get buggy when more than 1 team does this at the same time. And I kind of wonder if losing makes things awkward also, primarily because I have done this twice and lost both times.

How the hell does someone get Mastery level 35 (!!!) by 8am Central European Standard Time (we changed clocks last night)?!?!?!

I saw it with my own eyes. Should have taken a screenshot.

Is this botting or legitimate/clever use of game mechanics?

Do I need to report this person? I got part of their account name (name but not number).

For what it’s worth, I am mastery level 10 as I write this, and I have no life at weekends except for this game.
