I had a team it disbanded so I started solo qing again.
I think we know where this channeled salt is coming from now haha :P
I have decided to delete this thread based on the unecessity of it in the forums. Honestly, it was all in the moment after losing to sunfish in downstate necro haha…hopefully you got a chuckle or two out of it.
Bro I need to practice more downed state, I don’t think 5k hours is nearly enough to master it.
Dedication. Approved.
Will you test skill of the necros that apply? Do they need to have a very muscular finger to be able to press 1 so much?
You’re in. Congrats
Nice vids Really helpful and can’t wait to try these out
Let’s wait until the patch actually hits first… It does sound bad for thieves, but the entirety of the nerfs might not even make it and it’s always possible that they might compensate for them in some other fashion.
There is no witch hunt and this thread has already been answered and needs no further discussion. OP asked about streams of top players, not average players who just play alot. You’ve gone around in three separate threads about your leaderboard rank and of course nobody ever cared nor asked. You seem confused as to why people insulted you, I provided insight, nothing more. Simple as that really.
1st thread was to bring attention to an issue with possible solutions, second thread (this one is related) I gave my inputs take it or leave it, third thread was a one liner. Its that simple I’d hardly call that extreme bragging you’re the only one who’s been caring so much as to elevate everything its plainly laid out in your posting history the type of person you are. I mean if you are so bent on bringing someone down for thinking they’ve played enough to give some expertise, why don’t you try walking in my shoes, but you won’t because you’re too afraid of the blacklash yourself because you’re not able to write a decent column.
And yet your still contributed nothing to the discussion, whilist still focusing on me, you see what I did there? I’m calling you out now. Say something on what you think about steaming or GTFO.
Walking in your shoes as in………playing alot? No thanks. And there is nothing to call me out for, we are just keeping a dead thread going, there is nothing to contribute as the information has already been laid out. You seem to miss my point, not surprising. You start off your posts in each thread with “Hey I’m #1” in theads with which that information is completely irrelevant. You then receive backlash and can’t seem to understand why because then you start to retract and go into the whole “stop picking on me guyz” phase. So what I did was attempt to explain to you why you were receiving backlash from the community, at which point you have now gone on a personal vendetta against me which just tells me that you have no intentions of listening to anyone that doesn’t agree with you. So, enough said there, I literally can not explain it in any simpler terms for you. ;P
you’re the one on a vedetta. Look You’re not reading all my threads and only choosing the positions to fight agaisnt. so I’ll say it once more load and clear. I know top spots in ladder are from time played not mmr. and that’s why I’m not going to Stream, cuaase of people like you that will just complin about something i already know about.
This answers the OPs question, this answers all the comments from people who don’t have time to read everything, yourself included. and quite frankely even if i had a slight interest in steaming before I wouldn’t now would I?
You guys forgot one guy:

I’d like a sequel to this story with more of a focused on Karina’s edating adventures while he was posing as a 17 year old gurl.
@chimpy
I’m just going to say it made a lot of people question their sexuality :P
The team was basically just a mixed bag of people who got kicked from teams, too young, or were disliked by the community. It was kind of destined to breakup in consideration of that. Sure the team’s performance may have been decent, but sometimes the team dynamic isn’t there. It’s hard to pinpoint, and I can point fingers at age differences, but I feel that it’s more than just that.
Looking back, this post was sort of an embarrassment and stupid, but you know I was going through some tough times irl and wasn’t really mentally sound. Of course I think this post was silly, but it’s in the past. I don’t regret writing it, but it’s not one of my favourite posts out there haha.
Anyways, Ellusive members will be going their separate ways. Hope you can cheer for all of us in future tournies.

there’s gonna be so many tweets tomorrow….i think my eyes will bleed
I’ve got a proposition for thief greatsword in HoT . This weaponset is PURE damage and #yoloswag420blazeit, and completely viable and balanced according to my alogrithims and first year calculus. Say it ain’t so, but I say it’s going to be in the next expansion. With the help of the pvp community, we can make the next Moon and Antarctica.
F1-Skill, replaces steal but uses same CD-Incessant Slice
Tired of old vegetables? Tired of having your meat not chopped enough?Tired of steal having no animation? Well look no further! This F1-skill fully replaces steal to promote skill diversity!
Similar to deathblossom, but with no conditions. AoE and 1/4 second evade+3 hits…I’m thinking like Hulk Hogan style with a sweet looking uppercut.
Skill 1-Slice
Similar to the sword autoattack, but there are no conditions associated with it. Pure damage with an autoattack that is faster than sword and has a larger radius, but has less damage. Ends with a sweet looking uppercut.
Skill 2-Backflip: 3 initiative
Thief does a backflip, evading and hitting the opponent with a sweet looking uppercut. Has half the range of withdraw.
Skill 3-Shadow charge: 4 initiative
Similar to greatsword 3 on guardian, but the thief shadowsteps to the opponent instead and does a sweet looking uppercut. No blind, but does poison.
Skill 4-Heavenly Drill: 5 initiative
If opponent is under 25% health (if not, skill fails), you shoot up into the air and into the shadows. 1 second later, you strike from the sky, showing all nerds what a drill that can pierce the heavens really looks like. Pretty much a heartseeker, with an added sweet looking uppercut at the end of the animation if the guy is not dead yet.
Btw, this was the skill used in beta on Ender’s mother.
Skill 5-Shadow block: 5 initiative
Similar to ranger #4 on greatsword, except getting hit with a melee attack results in a sweet looking uppercut+3 second stealth.

I’ve posted a weapon set idea on the pvp forums…check it out yeah
I just want great sword thief. F1 skill would be “uber backstab” xD
It’s a nice idea, but I think people pick classes for a lot of reasons other than their personality. I mean, I started as guardian in beta but didn’t like the gameplay, so I switched warrior. Clearly I’m the guardian horoscope here though because it sounds much better.
Yeah, this is a valid point. I have tried throughout my gw2 days to pinpoint people who have sticked with a single profession from almost the very beginning to the end, but yes of course people often choose a class based on practicality or perceived overpoweredness, or how the meta changes for a dungeon or pvp.
Seeing as how I’ve been given some interesting feedback (in game and on these forums from both spvpers and pvEers), I thought I might as well edit this for more clarity as I kinda just typed this as words spewed into my head. Again, I’m just trying to point out some interesting trends…I can list at least 10 players from each profession that do not adhere to said personality.
(edited by Aeroxe.8140)
-Extremely/genuinely nice people. Really, you will probably not find a nicer guy in this game.
LOL counterexample: Ozie (they call him the Devil of Canada), Davinci (threaten to kill Blu), kitten (Grizzardinator).
-Marked with a keen sense of wanting to get stuff done, with low dependence on other players (aka the “solo” player).
You forgot they need downstate rezz (can you think of an example?)-These guys are the adventurers and overall just good citizens. Kind, social, fun, and mature. These guys are your greatest friends.
Kizos got shot because he tried to do something illegal.
It’s not based on one person or a couple of people…it’s based on a trend. It also takes people not in the competitive scene into account… I thought it would be cool to post these trends just for fun rather than picking out specific people…yeah? (except backpack)
(edited by Aeroxe.8140)
why don’t you make list with questions to research that o.o
Unfortunately I only have 1 full year course of introductory psychology and 1 half course in social psychology to back me up. Though maybe sometime I will if I’m ever bored for the lulz
Yeah I only put myerrbrigs cause of personalities and such.
I’m an INTJ, with an extremely high rating in all those categories. According to the test, I was pretty much the definition that Carl Jung had in mind.^Ah, I had deduced as much
Intuition ftw!
Also, with regards to the variability of engi personality types, I think the build a player chooses can tell a lot about them. The rifle/grenades are the serious go-getters and maybe perfectionist? Turreteers are…kind of the opposite
. I prefer running outside the meta, because … creative? shrug
Of course there are always outliers and such. But it’s interesting to see what kind of people gravitate to what profession. I think there would be general patterns, honestly.
Yeah, I don’t think I entirely fit into what is the trend for most d/p thieves, but hey, it’s cool that there is such trends. It sometimes makes you wonder you know
-Extremely/genuinely nice people. Really, you will probably not find a nicer guy in this game.
-Knowledgable, and willing to share wisdom to othersrofl
There are always exceptions like I said :P
Very interesting! I’ve often wondered about this myself—how people choose professions and how it reflects their own personality. Also I’m kind of a recent Myers Briggs junkie….
After 2+ years and 5 alts, I still only have one lvl 80 char with whom I do all my pvp: my engi. I’m an INFP irl for what it’s worth
“Quiet, reflective, and idealistic. … Extremely loyal. Adaptable and laid-back unless a strongly-held value is threatened. …. Mentally quick, and able to see possibilities. Interested in understanding and helping people.” (quoted from personalitypage dot com)
I think if I do get around to playing another class in pvp, it will be ele or guard. Warrior and thief hold no interest to me at all.
Need me to tank here at mid? I shall do my best. Far point assault? ok. Treb destruction? I’m might be slightly to condi, but here goes. group heal? stealth? just say the word. fire field might stacking? with pleasure. I was just thinking about how much I like to solo-que because it’s such a challenge to intuition…what are my teammates thinking, how can I best help them at any given moment? (often just being the only person holding a point is enough, heh) I really hate taking the lead though, and always focus on my own mistakes if we lose. I also tend to be a suicidal rezzer! (must…help…teammates…but I’m working on fixing that)
Yeah I only put myerrbrigs cause of personalities and such.
I’m an INTJ, with an extremely high rating in all those categories. According to the test, I was pretty much the definition that Carl Jung had in mind.
So it just struck me the other day along with a friend that there seems to be this really cool trend…that is, players in their main professions tend to be have some correlation in their personalities. I thought this was really interesting, and would be a nice change of pace amongst the forums topics concerning the new expansion and gw2drama tweets.
Of course, a trend does not mean that a certain player MUST have a certain personality. I’m just trying to note that there seems to be a trend (of people I’ve talked to since beta), and of course there are always exceptions. Actually, there are exceptions for every profession, but man I just thought it was really cool to take notice of this kind of stuff in ts. It’s stuff you would put in a thesis in personality psych or something. (Not making a thesis…this is just for fun)
Anyways, here ya go:
Elementalist:
-Tend to go with the “flow”, similar to the attunement swapping mechanic. They are capable of fitting into any social situation, whether that be arguably “good” or “bad” in a moral sense.
-Mature, and level-headed
Guardian:
-Extremely/genuinely nice people. You will probably not find a nicer guy in this game.
-Knowledgeable, and willing to guide those that ask for it.
Thief:
-Marked with a keen sense of wanting to get stuff done, with low dependence on other players (aka the “solo” player).
-Introspective, a little bit arrogant, and often quiet.
Engineer:
-Like the class itself, players of this class are very varied in their personality. It’s extremely hard to pinpoint the type of person that one will be when you main this profession.
-backpack
Necromancer:
-Fueled with a desire to see things wither and darken. These individuals are extremely down to earth.
-Excel in realistic, practical judgement. They are capable of making logical decisions that weigh in tangible gains and losses, discounting sometimes others.
Mesmer:
-These guys are the party-starters. Wild individuals that just want to have fun….they are the typical “bros”.
-At the same time, individuals can sometimes feel they are more special, as the mesmer class is very unique and not prominent in pvp. However, for what it’s worth all mesmers I’ve met deserve that sense of specialty.
-would probably play captain falcon in smash.
Ranger:
-These guys are just overall good people (the “jack of all trades”). Kind, social, fun, and mature. These guys are your greatest friends.
-Can be quite caring, and have an “attunement” to animals irl or nature. Or just wanting to stay out of close-range combat.
Warrior
-Although not always, these individuals are those that can be a little aggressive. However, they are aggressive for a good reason, which is for the good of everyone on the team.
-Diligent and forward thinking. Despite first impressions, these individuals are often really nice in actuality.
Edit: just like to add that the pool of people were from pve, wvw, and pvp. Some have quit, some have stayed. So yeah not indicative of just the pvp scene.

Just to let all of you know, ender’s coming back with a vengeance. His new team Ellusive got 350 against abjured in last week’s esl and got 250 against abjured in the monthly finals in one game…sort of.
I’m telling you guys, ender’s hormones are on fire now, and he wont stop until he gets a piece of what he wants. He’s VERY thirsty. Think of it as a mixture of Isaac Brook in the lonesome crowded west and Kanye West in graduation.
Ender will stop at nothing to channel his raging desires and inclinations into forming the coalition that will topple over the imperialists.I have so much love for ender’s mom I might let you guys score 400 next time.
Haha maybe go for a lord rush at 50 points next time? :P His sister is off limits though unless you guys get dced.

Overall, good changes. Though, I would’ve preferred something to be done about celestial amulet rather than the sigils themselves and might. I also feel like nightmare runes should be reworked completely as even after this patch there will still be no counterplay.
Wow eura, maybe you should stop putting out so much damage eh? :P
I thought these lists were only for fighting games like smash, blazblu, and marvel, but hey this sounds like a pretty cool idea. Without further ado:
S: Ele
A: Engineer
B: Necro, Thief, Warrior
C: Mesmer, Guard

In a good spot.Thief is in a good spot but necro is OP.
mmmm…kay. That is why every team runs a thief and there is basically 1 or 2 teams max who run necros. Cos it is so OP right?
The facts disprove you.
Cause, you know, class representation is a clear indication of balance, especially to the degree you’re saying it is at.
As much as my opinion is not any more or less viable than the other posts, I hope Anet realizes that there is a pretty big problem with the current meta. I don’t think it was foreseeable (as things have just compounded on eachother), but it has happened and there is need for the community and devs to band together in order to fix what has occurred. Of course, no meta is perfect, but this meta is getting to the point of being worse than previous ones.
The biggest issues are of course celestial engineer and elementalists. The capacity to do everything well beyond the typical “jack-of-all-trades” is too good to give up, forcing teams to run at least 3 celestial builds and 2 glass (thief, necro…maybe mesmer but yet to be seen) if wanting to play competitively. People may want to argue this, but currently as it stands you MUST have 3 celestials.
Okay, before I get any rage the following points I’m going to make is purely opinion and coming from a semi-competitive (sort-of, inb4 laughter/gossip girls) d/p thief since ToL1 days.
1) The game’s gotten a lot harder than it was back in the day as the general community is itself improving in skill, which was then really noticeably compounded for engineers and elementalists with the introduction of celestial amulet and the sigils. I really feel that I have improved much when I compare my past gameplay VoDs when I removed autoattack functions, introduced cancel-casting to all skills, and only dodged when seeing animations, but it just doesn’t seem to be enough against the current meta. People are dying much faster now, and it’s really unforgiving for any non-bunker build that doesn’t run celestial or acrobatics. It’s really discouraging to see a backstab do less damage than a lightning whip.
2) It’s kinda hard for people to form teams, as it is a requirement for people to run 3 celestial builds. Not everyone wants to play celestial, and that can really pigeonhole who you want to pick up for a team.
3)Tips for improvement:
-I think the small skirmish viability of celestial builds needs to be toned down. Damage needs to be toned down, and as zoose pointed it out in his video, might stacking and doom sigil would be a good start. I am also a proponent of reducing a few stats on the celestial amulet by 20-45
-Nightmare rune is the biggest offender of not much counterplay. Other tweaks would of course include adding visible animations to when reaper’s proc or incendiary powder is up.
-The ranger class needs to be looked at. The class itself is a mess currently, and I think that a total revamp is necessary.
(edited by Aeroxe.8140)
Will the fancy winter costume be a permanent feature?
Hmm, i guess it depends on how one plays. Myself, I am definitely the shortbow 3 and d/p 3 spammer of 2014 haha
Also, I just came across this thread from a while ago and I thought it would be cool for those interested in playing more stuff on the instruments: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/audio/The-New-Flute-Sheet-Music-Collection
Edit: there seems to be requests and it is an ongoing thread. I have a tin ear when it comes to detecting intervals but the individuals on the thread seem to be still making more stuff.

It’s actually spam 3 instead of spam 2 :P

For good rangers, check out my boyz eurantien or Kizos Awan. Both play ranger competitively in the NA scene.
> Claims Power Necro isn’t viable

But but Senpai…my fingers hurt. I also have the mental capacity of a monkey.
how do people already have like 250 games played since the patch….
I love the holidays. How is your character celebrating this winter season?
A few bugs I encountered while trying to que solo/team. Hope these will help you devs in the next patch.
1) Occasionally when solo queing, the map will be selected and then the screen will freeze. The only solution to this would be logging out.
2) Sometimes when joining another team, accepting the new ranked team que will que the rest of your team separate from yourself, causing there to be a plethora of bugs such as being placed in a different match, only yourself being qued, or both parties not being able to que at all. The only solution to these problems seems to be restarting the client.
3) Not really a bug, but sometimes even trying to get a match through solos/teams takes way longer than expected due to not everyone readying up in the mists. It’s sometimes frustrating not getting a que until 20 minutes after entering it.
I’m trying to be a bit more active in the forums, and hopefully this post helps development. Good luck
Aeroxe, I highly doubt any of these troll comments are serious. But it is a decent way to keep interest in this thread.
This whole Celestial debacle is entirely created by arena nets balancing designs from 2.5 years ago. There is no fix, we are still in the domino effect from them nerfing (mobility [things like Lf, Rtl, ect) and burst. They can’t target ele’s or Cele cause they will go back to being a lootbag. They can’t target the real problem (burst healing, healing over time) cause they added a bunch of crap to other classes + ele. (multiple cond procs, passive immunities, random procs, ect)
Ele vs s/d thieve at launch was a 50/50 fight. (they used to be my favorite class to duel) They will never get that split again sadly.
So sit back and enjoy the ride, Whatever they decide to change should be hilarious.
-Signed the greatest road warrior ejecta.
From the looks of it the posts seemed pretty serious. But I’m also not good at dealing or identifying with troll posts. My intention was to not keep the interest of the thread, but to keep the thread constructive. Call me crazy, but I’m a sucker for peace.
As for gw2 currently, you can play a melee tanky dps, a ranged tanky dps, or thief (debatable if thief is really better than either of the first two) — you’ve got about 5 builds to choose from and 3 roles.
Dunno.
I see more than 5 builds used between Cheese Mode, TCG, 55HP, The Abjured, and Dodge or Die, formerly the Absurd.
- D/P Thief (DoD, Occasionally CM)
- S/D Thief (TCG, Abjured, 55HP)
- Rifle Engi (CM, Abjured, 55HP, Occasionally TCG)
- Rabid Engi (DoD, Occasionally TCG)
- D/D Ele
- Staff Ele (55HP, but highly questionable.)
- Shoutbow War (DoD, TCG)
- Hambow War (Occasionally CM)
- Condi Necro (Abjured, occasionally TCG)
- Hammer/Scepter Medi Guard (CM, occasionally TCG)
- AH Bunker Guard (TCG, 55HP)
- Shatter Mesmer (55hp, TCG)
Sure, people play a lot of things. I’d argue that many of those aren’t optimal, though.
The sad thing is that the top teams on EU or NA run Ranger approximately never
Only because Genyen retired
I guess at a certain point you just become old and washed up… not looking forward to that
Old and washed up…that’s a sobering thought. In other words, ten years or so from now we’ll all be in such different scenarios and regret spending so much time into a….virtual world. Or why we even cared about certain things that we are obsessed with right now.
Alright….I think many of the things that I wanted to say have already been said, as I’m not really in favour of either “side”. Therefore, I won’t waste anyone’s time with those nuisances. However, there are a few things that I would really want to touch upon that I think needs to be taken into more consideration when making future posts, for the sake of keeping the thread constructive and healthy:
1) There seems to be quite a bit of ….“calling out” on eachother in this thread. There are too many posts from both sides that have pointed out player skill, cheating, and exploitation of possible imbalances in the meta as a constructive argumentative basis. This is far from acceptable in my opinion, especially from well-known members of the community that are supposed to professionally represent the pvp scene.
2) I think we all just need to remind ourselves that everyone here just wants the game to get better and become an esport. We all love this game, and share a common goal. Instead of making a ridiculous number of threads on an amulet or making some ridiculous claims on the validity of certain players’ opinions, we should instead focus on the possible suggestions on improving the meta, and making appropriate, professional responses.
Together…let’s make this game better. Let’s not split up the community, as it is way too split at the moment. I know we can do it.
Celestial’s fine, especially considering the number of viable classes in the current meta in comparison to previous metas. Maybe a few stat points (20?) off the celestial amulet would help breathe more life into other specs (bring back bunker guards?), but at the end of the day a lot of the outcome of a match is still coming down to player skill and rotational knowledge.
Lol “bird of fire”
I’m just amazed at how tenacious firebird is.
where’s gibbly
/15char
Okay let’s stop pointing fingers at which parties are responsible and instead focus on a solution. More mods would help, but perhaps shoutcasters could also explain why someone played a certain way that might seem questionable. I honestly have no idea how to fix such a population-wide problem, but even if we can alleviate some of that the esports scene would be better off.
When I was reading the comments in the twitch chat room in this week’s Go4GuildWars2 NA cup, I was really appalled by the number of toxic comments targetting specific players. There needs to be better monitoring of such behaviour, as such behaviour is hurtful not only to the players actually playing the game, but also to the competitive scene itself. If guild wars 2 is to become esports, more maturity is required of the community and better monitoring is needed by the stream itself.
I have no idea how to fix this, but hopefully this raises some awareness.
