Thanks for those who are looking forward to the event, and who post to say they are. For those who are posting up bile-filled negativity, I’d like you to step back and think about the situation: We’re having a Halloween festival in a timeframe when many, many players thought there would not be one. Dire “the sky is falling” commentary isn’t appropriate. Rude “You got nothing” comments have no place here.

We’re offering to join community events because they’re fun, and our joining in supports those marvelous people and guilds and groups who put their time and effort into creating such events for the community at large. This is in no way a case where we’re “doing nothing” when the team is presenting an entire festival for you at a time the company is also launching an expansion pack for our game.

This thread presents positive and encouraging new information, and I’d ask you to join in the spirit of the thread and not make rude, negative, or nasty comments. I mean, replying is optional, and thoughtfulness seems a simple thing to ask.

This^ all of this. We should be grateful we are even having the event with the release of HoT. Get the sticks out of your butts and get in the spirit of HALLOWEEENNNN

Yeah, I imagine the point of this thread is not to tell people that they don’t have a right to complain or to express an opinion. People have a right to express disappointment and anger in a reasonable way, but they do not have the right to do what you described, e.g. telling people to uninstall their games, calling names, etc., especially if they’re just trying to get clarification, ask a question or give an opinion of their own. You can be frustrated without taking it out on other people – in fact, if you’re so angry, you should take it out on the Mordrem! Anet even said it was their fault in the first place. XP

Event bugged and the event design rewards leeching more than completing events (tag and run). Players are expressing their dislike for the event and the poor design of it. I personally won’t be participating in this event because of the later. It shouldn’t be too confusing as to why the event is causing toxicity among the playerbase. Players expressing themselves is the best manner to communicate and get the problem corrected now and in the future. If people just accepted everything Anet did and praised poor choices we wouldn’t have the extra slot for Hot either.

This event is broken in both its execution and design. It should be scrapped and taken back to the drawing board.

It seems I am being um, misunderstood? Yes communicate, I encourage this. But when someone says “THIS GAME IS A PIECE OF kitten BECAUSE OF THIS EVENT” and then another says “Oh, but I really like this game.” and then the first one says " WELL ITS BECAUSE YOURE kittenED" (or other expletives, which I actually have seen 2 cases of this today), then I think thats a little too far. By all means, say youre upset and want it fixed. I never said you couldnt. As you could read in my post.

Also, thank you all for your input. I think this is something that should be discussed but try to keep it civil like it has been so far.

If being kittened off that the event is broken after 9 months of nothing and that nothing has been done to fix it is toxic then yeah, I am pretty toxic and that is something I am justified in being.

I agree that it can be off-putting to the new players but I don’t see how that should mean that I should accept having my day ruined because I want one of the rewards and I can’t get blooms because it doesn’t work. If you want one of the potions you need to play for 90 hours out of the 96 available hours that this event is up. As if it isn’t already nearly impossible but it doesn’t give you rewards on top of that? It is frustrating. And it is even more frustrating having people in map chat telling you that it doesn’t matter if you don’t get rewards.

Its not I, who has the problem. I do not care if map chat is toxic for myself because I personally know that these people exist and its not going to change, I was simply trying to see if we could make a more accepting community for newer players.

Ive played for the 3 years and I havent seen all of this broken content lol Maybe I am dumb. Ive seen a few bugs here and there like most MMOs.

I know I cant change everything, was just suggesting maybe a few of use could divert a little of the bad.

I saw actual name calling and “uninstall your game” stuff.

I guess so, I just worry that no one is helping the people that ask for it, and instead are being butts about it.

Now I will probably get flamed for this unfortunately, but I figured I would try anyways. I also want to say I recognize your right to an opinion and the nature of this post is not to discourage you from giving Anet constructive feedback. I am posting this to address the toxicity I have seen in the map chats as of late. Especially today. As we know, the event did not come out as intended and they are working on it, but free players can see map chat and I saw in say chat a few players relating our community “as toxic as other games/people arent very nice here”. I was wondering if maybe we could stop being so hateful in map chat because that leaves a terrible impression on these players and we all know our community is not like that AT ALL.

Yes some of us are frustrated with bugs and things, but there is no reason to call people names etc etc because of differing opinion. Also, Ive seen discouraging conversations to new players who have bought the game recently when asking a question. I dont think sarcasm or down right rudeness is the right way to go about this.

And no, its not because of the free 2 play model, they cannot use map chat so it cant be because of the influx of new players. These are out existing players, and they will be making up our community, so please if you could, keep our community helpful. A good debate or conversation is great, but I dont think at the expense of someone else is worth it.

I personally have diverted a toxic map chat to a light hearted conversation about nose picking.

Anyways I am sorry if this makes anyone upset. I just thought maybe we should address this as a community and solve the problem as one. <3 Remember, I love you guys no matter what! <3333

I think I should just welcome the new players looking at the forums! So welcome to GW2 guys and I hope you enjoy your stay for many years to come! We are a great community (though have some trolls etc like any normal mmo) but do not let that deter you!

Also, Ive been giving out inventory bags in the starter zones in map chat and thought i should pass this along to some of you that would like to help but not know how. If youd like to help some of the newer folks out, I recommend this. They love it and are very thankful! Bag space is so horrible in the beginning, so I just craft up some bags and hand them out! Good deeds are awesome!

Some tips though, add them to friends and check AP. Ive had a few trolls with 8k AP ask for bags.. loooool I know with people buying 2 accounts, that its not fool proof. But I do it anyways and anyone with 3k AP or more doesnt get one.

So, I have a G930 headset and I have noticed that ONLY in GW2 does the audio crack. Not the actual game audio, its the music I am trying to listen to while playing GW2. If I tab out, the crackling sound stops immediately, but as soon as I tab back into the game, there it is.

Has anyone had this? Any fixes or does anyone know whats going on?

I never feel the need for anything else, as in a mount for speed etc. The WP system makes that so. If there werent any WPs, then I could see it because youd have to run from map to map. But this is not the case.

I personally have never said there is anything wrong with giving complements and congradulating devs for good work and amazing content, I have done so many times over the course of living story season 2. so I do not have a problem with this thread, the problem is that devs will reply to this type of thread, but not others that touch up on important matters.

I understand and as I said, you could make a thread and complain about that there. But not here, please. If that’s not too much to ask.

When I heard “There something in the water!” and I fought Teq for the first time. I just stood there, my eyes were huge and my mouth was literally open. And then I just smiled.

My guild mates were in chat like “OMG” “WOW” “WTF”.

I see a lot of negative posts in the forums and I just thought maybe Id take the time to let you guys know how much I appreciate this game and the work you put into it. Its a lot of fun and I met the love of my life on here. (you guys totally gots the hookupsss :P)

But seriously, I love this game. I have been playing since the betas to present. When I think about it and how far its come, I still get that new game excitement when you guys release content. I am thoroughly impressed with this game everyday.

I know there is a lot of criticism about things you do (and dont do) but youve done a great job with this game, and you deserve a little thank you now and again.

Hi, My name is Jess. I am looking for a PvE oriented guild. I will be wanting to run dungeons on explorable mode for tokens soon as I hit 80 on my warrior. Um, I am kinda shy :P I like to talk and help people though. I like WvW occasionally I have a lvl 80 ranger that I have retired. About the dungeons.. Ive only ever ran AC and Arah >.> in story mode. ;-; Never got to the rest so I am looking for a guild that dont mind running story modes too. Um, Yeah so. I am pretty laid back, like to joke. Excuse me but until that 2013 biggy update comes, GW2 has still the worst end-game of MMOs. Mounts as he said, were awesome to collect in WoW and would be even more awesome in GW2.

Ehh, I am fine without mounts, but whatever. I like to keep the world reasonable, I mean I suppose you could do something like renting horses from stables or saving to buy a horse and once they implement housing, you can like keep your horse there or something. I mean in my opinion, I wouldnt want to see people riding on polar bears, moas, deer, etc. Just wouldnt fit with this game to me. :/ But its whatever really. They add them, then ok, they dont, and I am fine with that too lol

Eh, I played GW1, all expansions with my necro and I still find GW2 appealing. Played it since Beta. BUT that is my opinion. Everyone is different. I think they did a wonderful job with both games.

So I just have one question, the healing stats on gear… does it count towards healing others or your regeneration?
