i have seen the no running thing, like she’d try to run a few times, then not at all rest of the fight

but this was just rediculous difficult, like….world bosses (aside from trio or dragons) have taken shorter, im pretty sure golem mark 2 and shadow behemoth have gone down faster than what i just saw

did they change it so Tootsie scales, or outright buffed it entirely?

because the instance i was just in, fought tootsie, and it didnt even get below 25% health, and for most of the fight, was extremely more difficult than in the past

last week i held Tootsie in place alone with my pet until people arrived, and actually dented its’ healthbar, but now, even with a huge zerg, it takes forever, what happened?

or do all bosses scale?

this is probably one reason why they dont want to do that

you give people ideas, previews, like a year ahead of time
people are happy
people get bored waiting
people rage at waiting
people quit
people forget about the changes
people sometimes dont come back

that could be one reason (at least what i think) of why they dont want to do it, that’s how i feel, just not as extreme as the text might imply

would you want to hear about a new game A YEAR before it gets released
get bored waiting for said new game
waste money trying to occupy yourself waiting for game
eventually lose interest
forget
find out game releases in a week
(possibly) repeat

Most of us don’t forget we’re just plain tired of waiting. What goes on over there? Like really? Do they just like hang out and talk about things that have nothing to do with the game? Do they sip their lattes while saying “hey you know that thing in the game that no player has ever had and issue with ever that we could totally break or make exceedingly expensive or make a grind out of? Yeah let’s do that instead of anything at all in the forums!”

haha ikr, like how exactly did they break that ghost even in Diessa Plateau, even after a new ls comes out that requires you to partake in the event

i heart that event has always been broken (and yet i never saw it until after part 2 of dragons reach, and ive participated in it a few times)

sometimes it’s just amazing how things decide to break themselves, but in all seriousness, in reality they dont really have any breaks or time to rest, game companies are wicked, and theres no rest for the wicked, as the saying goes

snip

No. My point was not about anyone being ashamed. It’s just that players normally focus on what they want only and tend to not see the bigger picture. Whether it’s one player or an aggregate number of players doesn’t matter.

Nowhere is it implied that Anet has to be open with the players with their decisions. What gets released to us is entirely up to them. Be grateful that you receive what they currently provide as you will likely not with other companies.

No matter what they do, people will be upset and complain because the decisions do not fit what they feel should have been done. This opinion is based on their personal belief and tends to be influenced on what they personally want. No kidding, right? It’s in Anet’s best interests to release as little information as possible until they’re for sure ready for it. I believe that was stated in the video or article that have been floating around in the forums as of late.

Your post is the same overreaction that would occur to any of Anet’s released decisions. For example, nowhere did they ever give a timeline on when to expect SAB to be released again. They provided an update in an interview that they still currently do not have plans and people flipped out about it as evident in game as well as in the forums.

The same is with precursor scavenger hunt or crafting. It was stated it could be available by the end of 2013 but issues came up and it was postponed to a later, undetermined time. Earlier this year they responded to a post that it was still on hold because of the impact of the new wardrobe system.

They’re being open and honest but people are still flipping out about it because they don’t agree with those decisions. You then have people who verbally assault the company which really doesn’t help. This was mentioned in the WvW forum that stating that there is no WvW team doesn’t really help their cause. The spamming of SAB threads, saying Anet has lost touch with the players, and so on are exactly the same.

You’re wrong there about it being implied. It’s a well known fact that companies need to be open with their playerbase if they wish to prevent disasters. It’s also well known that companies in every industry that are secretive to the extreme about their products generally do so because they A: know they aren’t delivering what they should and/or B: are up to no good.

You can claim all you want that there’s no legal letter that requires companies to be more open and honest about what they are doing especially in the mmo market where communication is essential however you cannot claim that this need of the customers to know what’s coming next in this industry is not an essential part of the supply/demand system of economics we have going here. It’s not implied it’s part of the demand of the product.

It doesn’t matter if they didn’t give a time frame my point is how long should people wait? At this point, it takes less time for Blizzard to come out with a WoW expansion pack than it does for this development team’s long list of “experiments” to finally take this game out of beta and get it updated! At this point in time, with as long as it’s taking for even something as simple as a toggle to turn off Hobosacks, it’s so not an overreaction at all, it’s on the verge of becoming mmo development history in which people will be sitting around in their next game going “remember that title called GW2 that wasn’t about guild wars at all and had a really terrible time delivering what they said they’d do?”

Nope. Try again.

How many other games do players have this much interaction with developers and released information regarding upcoming changes?

idk…it seems all the same more or less

Schooling, employment, and other modern “rights” are more about standardization than diversity in my opinion. Sure everyone has the right to go to school, but you’ll only succeed in school if you think, write, and act a certain way.

i dont know about that, when i was in school, i thought, wrote, and acted rather different, and honestly i did better than the majority of my school, made it to honor roll (nothing special) but still, i wasnt even getting CLOSE to failing classes, or “barely passing” as most people like to do nowadays, and i never even studied ._. unless you count homework at studying

but then again that’s just an isolated circumstance, and more than likely completely irrelevant to the “average” people

even wrote an entire essay (if you can call a few sentences per paragraph, and like 4 paragraphs an essay) in icelandic (our current subjects involved that area and stuff) just cuz i thought it would be more fun and relative, teacher was sort of overjoyed at it

Creatures gain an exploration XP bonus when they have not been killed recently. Try killing yellow creatures you find on the less traveled areas of the map; they don’t get killed very often.

i actually did this for an ENTIRE single level

the “yellow” creatures very quickly stopped giving experience of 212, Bonus 513 (very close to these amounts, maybe off a little bit) and just went back to normal droplets of exp of barely 100s (it was in a snowy region, on my way to story, but i wanted to level once before story, around mid level 30s i believe)

it DID work for a very short time, but after not too many kills, the lovely exp stopped

this idea was fun in the moment, but became extremely dull and almost sleep inducing

if anything, just sweep areas for map completion, going north to south, getting every single thing as you inch across the map, while killing everything on the way, events or not

that way, you kind of get a little bit of everything right?

its not about them being yellow, basically you just want to keep killing new monsters, not recent respawns.
the longer the monster has been alive the more exp it gives, so if you want to level via monsters, its a good idea to pop a bunch of boosters, and keep killing new enemies in areas people dont go to very often.

The kill streak bonus makes it pretty exciting (when you can kill fast) or with a small group.

you can get a ton of exp doing this, especially if you happen on some dynamic events in far out areas.

ah, now that makes more sense

maybe monsters that arent killed in so long should turn into veterans, then elites, and even CHAMPIONS

but to troll, anything over veteran doesnt drop elite/champion loot cuz that’s just how things are

(im looking at you dry top events, all your elites and champions not dropping a single thing worth the effort, but that instakill minion next to you totally has rares and exotics FOR SOME UNGODLY REASON)

Buddy, putting things into perspective isn’t a contradiction.

Its like when two cars in in a row, illegally parked and a cop gives one a ticket and leaves the first one. You could have easily said, yep, the guy was wrong but… you chose not to. It’s okay though. I’m used to it.

No, it’s like two cops seeing the same car. Why would I ticket the same car when I see you doing it?
You’re a big boy now. You don’t need my acknowledgement.

When you see a comment and a response, and you only corrrect the response, many would assume (not all but many) that you agree with the first comment. And you know, that’s not completely illogical. If you don’t support the first comment and you don’t say you, you leave it up to people to guess. Which seems like at the very least poor communication.

As said b4 your major point was still in the segment i quoted I just left out the reason you gave for your statement. So I didn’t alter anything of what you did.

you were changing the entire content of my post as well, as i had many words, and you only took 4…4 words out of 27 words….that is for all intents and purposes, changing everything, as it completely changes the view of my post

like the entire idea about the ignore button

i actually didnt change it entirely, i just left out most of it, then added something, as the word “like” is still the first word, and as you only used 4 of my 27, i used 1 of your 8, an almost fair ratio, im just doing what you did, leaving things out

lets say i left your post complete. that would make no difference as you just had a single sentence which began with said words.

it was already a short comment as was

“In addition, you agree not to do any of the following:
Impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, an ArenaNet employee, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity”

technically, making it seem like i said something i didnt, by leaving the majority of it out, including the important parts, is impersonating, by making it seem i posted something i didnt

Aetheldrake.6395

Let me be clear from the start.I talk specifically for dungeon bosses.I’m not interested in open world Elites and champions at all.Dungeons and open world are two whole different things. And should stay that way.Separating the two modes must be common thing in every MMO including GW2.

Why the hell is this buff even in the game?I really like in other MMOs that i can interrupt some of the boss’s spells.I really miss this aspect in GW2.
When i stun or interrupt the boss he receives defiance buff and that prevents me from future CCs.What a crap design decision.
Are Anet not capable of programing good boss’s mechanics that can include interrupts and are not being avoided like they are something nasty lol…

@CureForLiving - Probably referring to WoW (or maybe that’s just me projecting). Anyway from what I remember from my ICC days the encounters were either 10 man or 25 man, you’d have a handful of professions that’s could interrupt and the bosses would have well telegraphed abilities that needed to be interrupted (think three-toed tootsie since that’s basically what it was, look for the bar to appear spam interrupt continue). Think it was usually the tanks that did the interrupting (I was a warlock so I just mindlessly performed the same rotation over and over and over and over…).

@Rauedri - Out of the MMOs I’ve poked my head into, interrupts are a major thing for raiding. They need to be timed just right or the party wipes.(In WildStar, it’s actually a dps job that requires coordination. o_O) With that in mind, it does surprise me that ANet chose to make bosses absurdly resilient. The later, overpowered versions of defiant were even worse, preventing all CC from working. Boss Blitz in particular made me sad.

Manuhell – Imho, one of the problems with defiance is that CC skills aren’t balanced upon it. Quite obviously, as they’re balanced for pvp, and there is no defiance on players.
This ends up greatly weakening their effects, without anything to compensate for it.
The solution should be to rebalance those skill according to the game mode, giving them bonus effects in pve to compensate for the reduced effects of CC.

without a limit, you can basically have a boss on permanent kitten face, being completely unable to attack forever.

considering how low you can get cooldowns on some CC, and have multiple ones at once, with multiple people at once, it seems fair

it’s sort of like dungeon nerd rage, say you were a boss, and someone knocked you flat on your butt, wouldnt you get extremely P Od, and just go hulk smash on them? nothings gonna stop you for a while right?

Any News About Roles ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aetheldrake.6395

Aetheldrake.6395

Support already has a strong role in the game.

As for healing, the game already has alot of healing and after recent updates to traits, runes and sigils it is possible for Ele to be a dedicated healer, due to now receiving percentage-based bonuses to healing on the level of some damage builds. WIth Sigil of Benevolence, Aquatic Benevolence and the overhauled Monk runes, they can now reach up to 800 HPS (compared to average 200-300 from regenrations and ~320 from Warrior’s Healing Surge) on their Water auto-attack on staff.

I don’t think that other classes really need to have a stronger healing role because most of them are already pretty good at it to begin with (e.g Warrior’s regen banners) plus water fields are fairly common in any battle.

Condition Damage, however, is still in desparate need of an overhaul.

my friend was in pvp once, using a his warrior with regen

he was 1v1ing this dude…literally…just smacking him with a banner…as he regened more than he took…lol

You are seriously overreacting. The game is going to be 2 years old soon, and the game is starting to improve dramatically since its launch and the year after. You and everybody should stop acting like they are entitled to everything there is in the game and expect everything to be there. The road ANet is going through has been a common road for other MMOs (INCLUDING WoW back in its vanilla days), where the first thing they focus on is to make the game playable, then add stuff to add a variety of activities to expand the gameplay, and to add quality of life stuff to make the game enjoyable to play. Guild Wars 2 hasn’t reached its full potential yet. Its still a very young game. And like anything, it need to grow. Give them time, cause they aren’t exactly working with Blizzard’s amount of money in their pockets.

so basically, this is going to quickly turn into a dead game (compared to it’s earlier days) and everyone is gonna hate it, just like WoW

side note that is actually on topic, one time i did see someone mention they wish they could do first person combat, and when they mentioned it, tons of other people started agreeing that they also really wanted it

A player should not feel ostracized for wanting to complete an event.

There is 3000 different events they could complete, and if they wanted to complete this one, they could easily complete it on another map by taking 2 seconds. This is not about wanting to complete a useless event. Heck getting into one of those megaserver takes forever, you don’t just end up in them, you join them.

everybody is always in a megaserver, everything is megaserver, there is no “non” megaserver, just multiple map instances now
