I feel that pvp is out of whack and there needs to be some new pvp match types, but to say that pvp is an afterthought is a bit silly.

GW2’s stated goal for longevity has been esport PVP.

I have high hopes of becoming the first man to step foot on a planet in a different solar system…..There I can spew out unrealistic hope/dreams/aspirations aswell.

I think the e-sport boat for gw2 has set sail, there wasn’t enough pvp content in as release, so people got bored and quit and have now lost all interest. It’s a good thing that gw2 doesn’t have monthly, so people can still come back and try whenever they please, but from what I’ve heard and seen in terms of pvp content, it won’t matter…Shouldn’t have to pay to have organised scrims, even in gw1 you could hop into your guild hall and then go into your own private instance.

It is fairly clear that PvP in gw2 was kind of an afterthought, so we just got lumbered with the very boring and repetitive PvP we have now.

I feel sorry for the few PvP devs, as when the PvP dies out in GW2 (likely happening very soon unless big changes are made and fast…) they will be out of a job, and gw2 will continue as a PvE game.

For PvE running a hybrid build is better, so you can tag mobs easier. But in PvP condi with survivability is better, however I have ran with 20/20/20/10/0 before and it works ok.

Who says it’s even a bug? Im sure that +damage traits/runes/sigils were never supposed to effect condition damage. Of course this is just guessing because Anet won’t tell us anything…………………………….

It doesn’t effect condition damage…..because it clearly makes sense to put raw damage increase in the condition centered trait line.

If you want to test it use steady weapons.

Every single patch will lean very heavily towards PvE, because 95% of the population enjoy PvE more then PvP….Anet’s overall care about PvP is very low.

No….dragons should not be in pvp…..The only dragons you will see in pvp are dragon finishers and i doubt there’s going to be a r80 for atleast 18months

I disagree with so much you say and I can tell you’ve not had much/any experience playing most of the classes, but i’ll stick to the necro ones, for the sake of keeping my post short.

Nerfing necro more, that’s just what the doctor ordered, and already rare class in tpvp becoming even rarer. Reduce the chill duration…no way, for 1 95% of necros use dagger OH, not focus, and therefore only have access to the 1 chill which is fairly slow moving and definitely dodgeable. Giving chill of darkness a 5sec cooldown, what a joke this is, you do realise that necro has only 3 blinds? all of which have lengthy cooldowns, the only reason why this trait exists in the first place is to synergise with well of darkness. If you give it a cooldown then you just give necro’s yet another useless trait….and fyi the trait doesn’t work with plague form so that whole point is completely invalid.

The thing I hate most about solo queuing free tournaments are the people who join (like the op) who play it just like a spvp match and go about losing the game because they run around trying to kill people and never supporting the nodes.

But anyway, I was just trying to help you out by informing you that axe is incredibly bad and you’d do better with any other weapon. So if you don’t want to accept that fact I’m not going spend time trying to convince you, it’s your game, if you want to play the worst MH weapon possible that’s up to you.

ust saying, everytime a mesemr used portal and got smashed in the face as soon as he ported, a lot less of this would happen (assumimg, of course, you can get to the exit portal because its not behind a door or gate).

The only way to balance portal, is to remove it from PvP. It’s just far too strong when used properly. I don’t understand why it’s in the game….

Yay, more games modes where bunkers will dominate!…

I just have no idea how ANet can possibly add more game modes which don’t completely favour bunker strats. How ever much I enjoy the lack of the holy grail, it really does limit the amount of game modes available. Nobody enjoys playing against bunkers, it’s so tedious….

I have around 1700 toughness and 20k hp on my necro, not a tank build, and I can honestly say I’ve never been instagibbed. Maybe I’m lucky, maybe I react and use DS quickly, who knows. That being said, thief burst is still far too high and needs to be toned down.

I’ve been spreading this screen shot around from a match last night because I think it will give people some perspective on how useless strategy and skill is most times as a necromancer. This kind of thing happens to me regularly. My build that I use in SPvP has over 26k health, with some investment into death magic for the greater marks, however, all is for naught. In the time it takes for you to realize you’re being attacked, you’re HP pool is bursted away, and you’re left on your back pitifully waving your hand in the air. This is not a “you should have reacted faster” issue. You literally have no time to use a single skill or attack. I think people don’t seem to understand you literally die faster then it takes skills or attacks to activate. The counter argument to get more armor or health is so ridiculous on so many levels, I’m not even going to get into it.

If you have 26k HP, it means your toughness is low. Sure you will see high number sometimes, but generally speaking necro (with decent build…) > thieves, in 1vs1 situations.

Did I ever say that thieves stealing a 3sec fear was balanced? Because it isn’t. But thieves will only get that from necro’s so it’s not available to them on demand, unlike necro’s fear.

I cannot believe people still trying to argue that necro fears should be 2-3seconds. It’s kittening absurd, it would be so op, wouldn’t even be funny. Necro can get +100% fear duration, so that 2seconds turns into 4 and 3seconds goes all the way upto 6, that is broken. It would be ok if doom and reapers mark went up to 1.5sec, but no more then that.

I often feel like I’m the only non-bias necro around…

I didn’t read all your post, but if you’re getting killed in <3seconds against a lone person you’re doing something wrong, as necro’s are one of the best classes to beat a burst spec. The only way this would ever happen is if you have 0 LF, but I doubt you’re running around the entire game without any, since there are ways to get it. If you don’t have any LF or decent ways to gain it in combat, then don’t put yourself in situations where you take massive amounts of damage.

also the necro is STILL so horribly buggy it cant even reach whatever potential you want, must people dont even run with corrupt boon anymore since it simply misses for no reason and goes on cooldown more than it lands. This was reported since BWE1. So talking about all this great philosophy doesn’t really mean much until you address the tons of bugs that still exist.

It was said last night that a lot of what we think are bugs aren’t. But of course we have no idea which are and which aren’t, which is really getting to me.

I’m fine with quickness, it really helps take down bunkers quickly, however I’m not fine with time warp, it’s far too strong. And without a shadow of doubt quickness should not effect stomping or ressing, it’s so broken that it does atm and I hope ANet does change this…

As soon as the Path projectile hits them, you shadowstep and immediately immobilize them from the short-range Pact, then pound on them with dagger skills and wells.

I guess you get a lot of use out of stacking multiple dark combo fields on top of each other….Oh wait….That’s 1 thing I do not understand about wells, you’ll often find yourself needing to use multiple wells at the same time, for a varying range of reason, but the 4 utility ones are the same combo type. I said ages ago in a suggestion that well of darkness should be a smoke field, would really get interesting plays from it and it would teach necro’s to actually pay attention to the order in which they use their wells…

Please do not……..if you want to keep the vast majority of PvP’ers happy never add it to tournament rotations. Even if underwater was completely balanced and all the sharks were removed, I do not feel this map would offer anything positive.

Can you say if you’re working on necro’s axe or dagger MH? A long time ago I remember a dev saying they are looking for better power options for the necro. The axe especially is terrible and needs a decent amount of buffs to it, dagger could use slight number tweaks on life siphon.

Moving out of its range involves leaving the node, then the necro just sits there and dances capping and youre doing nothing to stop him. you HAVE to stand on the node with him and just deal with it, losing a lot of hp over 20 seconds in the process

20sec of poison will equal about 4.4k damage….I do not class that as a lot.

And necro’s saying that would trade the blind for damage………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………Are you all on drugs? Remove the blind and it becomes useless.

I'd rather have reanimator disabled until a fix is ready.

What’s better:

1/ A dev doesn’t know the game and is completely unaware of one of the biggest and most exploitable bugs around.

The 5 ticket cost was obviously not thought out very well. I understand it, since they want paid’s to be for the better teams, but that just means the queue times are ridiculous, they need to adjust the cost so there’s enough ‘average – good’ teams throw in the mix as well.

You want to know how to get into PvP? If so, in the menu on the top left of your screen, you should see 2 swords click on that, then the white box which say go to the heart of the mists on it.

So you fixed them giving a free res? Because they absolutely used to, I’ve not been paying much attention recently to whether or not they do.

But now you’re here, can you say whether plague signet is now working 100% as it should? It was obviously massively nerfed a couple of weeks ago, turning it from the best skill we have, to one that is now replaceable.

Guys, why are you complaining about thieves burst. They obviously fixed the problem by removing the 10-15k backstabs and making it more like a 8-10k backstab followed by 4 hits upwards of 6k, this is real progress. Maybe next balance it’ll be 7 hits of 5k each.

Holy kitten….you’re only just realising this trait is pure trash? Are you yet aware that people in PvP who tag this little kitten get a free res? And you say Anet reads the forums….if anyone of you spent time in the necro section you would have seen the 100’s of threads complain about this.

And yes, I know that the reason you guys are SO strong in your posts is because you love the game and want it to improve.

People are strong in their posts because it pisses us off that you’ve fixed maybe 30%? of all the bugs that were in since release and created a bunch of new ones (stealth rendering anyone?). Add to that, you never tell us what you are working on, only the vaguest of details in your once per month blog posts. And of course the reluctance the balance the things in the game that are obviously OP/broken, such as mesmer portal on khylo. Also the fact that nobody from ANet seems to acknowledge the bugs, of all the hundreds of pretty huge bugs in the game I’ve seen red comments on maybe 3-4 of them, which is just not enough, would maybe take 30mins to compile a list of bugs you are aware of. Last but not least, the fact that events like this halloween one obviously take up most of ANet’s man power, so balance/bug fixing are just left untouched for 3 weeks? (since it seems 15th november is the next patch).

It’s absolutely no wonder why a lot of the PvP community feel completely unloved and forgotten about.

Portal is used for a whole bunch of stuff. Mesmers will usually go for your base points then roam to mid with portal, then go back to stop back capping as you said. But it’s also used to quickly move multiple players between points to burst down the bunker as quickly as possible. Mesmers can take down the gate on foefire, then set up portal from mid to the lord, then get the whole team tp’ed for a 2-3sec lord kill. Ofc portal mesmer on your treb in khylo is well known and will likely get nerfed soon.

Mesmers are more then likely the weakest PvE profession, but in PvP it’s a completely different story. They can survive extremely well with stealths and all kinds of diversion tactics and invulnerability skills. With any class, you will need to put time in to be able to get the bets out of it.

Mesmer is without a doubt needed in pretty much every team, because of portal, it’s also the easiest of the 3 light armor classes. Ele will fit in most line ups, in a kind of support dps/roaming or pure healing support role. Necro is more of a niche class and isn’t always going to be wanted, although in certain situations they are very effective.

Ele can dps, support, heal, roam and tank,. They have very low HP and 20 weapon skills to use, so it does require a decent amount of time to become good at it, but one you are good it’s extremely strong and the most mobile class.

Mesmer can dps, tank and portal (single biggest skill in tPvP). A few very viable builds which fit multiple roles, wont take as much practise as ele to become good given how naturally strong they are at everything. And again Portal…

Necro can tank and transfer conditions. There’s only really 1 way to build necros atm, and that is for conditions damage and necro’s only dps’ing conditions are bleed and some poison so little variety in that. Given that it’s almost all condi damage it’s fairly easy to counter but devastating if not countered.
