For a while I used to wonder just how PvP has such little content considering the game took 4-5yrs to make. Now I just don’t care any more, sure it sucks balls that PvP in gw2 is so one dimensional and lack luster, but kitten happens, you just have to accept that PvP isn’t going to take off for another 3-4months….Because it makes sense that 8months after the finished game was released PvP might finally be more well rounded.
I believe there was a post a while back vaguely acknowledging minions AI or lack thereof. Unlikely they will improve anytime soon though, so don’t get your hopes up.
Step 1: Use the correct name for the classes.

I stopped playing about 2-3 weeks ago, with intentions to return when PvP is more enjoyable and balanced (balance isn’t too bad to be fair, it’s just extremely 1 dimensional, game modes/viable builds).
I was looking forward to the December patch as it was supposed to be a big balance update, but after reading the notes I was so disappointed, like 50% of the class changes were underwater combat, which very few actually care about.
Will just have to wait until the January patch, which was also promised as a balance patch, to see if they actually make the buffs and nerfs that are so desperately needed….even though I know for sure they won’t.
Undead or the ones which give magic find + condition damage, if you’re after drops.
OP is not 100% correct. Necromancy is just the magic of communing with the deceased to gain insight. Which the gw2 necro does to some degree, however as far as gaming goes (which doesn’t matter at all…) the gw2 version of necro isn’t very necro-y.
Sigh. Part of me thought this patch might give some decent changes in the area of build diversity, but no. Absolutely nothing was changed to make the necro any more versatile or enjoyable to play, it’s really quite disheartening.
Another patch, still the same 1 trick pony that is the necro.
You’re always better off going condition damage over duration. So your conditions do the max amount of damage before they are inevitably removed, your bleeds could last for 10mins, but it wouldn’t matter if they get removed after 3seconds. Aim to get at least 1250 condition damage before you start worrying about duration.
I’ve given up on this dungeon. No rings mean that after lvl20 you just become a huge liability, so it’s not fair on your team if you continue without decent resistance. I have 5 resistance (from back piece), and if an agony doesn’t kill me it leaves me with such low HP that I’m as good as dead.
Fractals was the only pve I actually enjoyed in gw2, but now I’ll just go back to afk’ing in the mists, waiting for decent pvp content.
They will never, ever, ever hit e-sports if they keep this pay2pvp business model. I think it’s only going to get worse with rentable servers. I don’t understand why there can’t be free private servers, where you go in and it’s invite only, like every other game has…including gw1.
Favourite – Swamp, quickest and easiest.
Least favourite – Rata sum, it used to be my favourite, but since lvl10 it’s just so annoying. Not every class as stability or reflect walls…
RNG on NECESSARY items is so kittening stupid. I would really love to see a red post explaining why that made it this way…
What?….Lol, people’s fear of heights translates into games?
A fear of heights is generally centered about a fear of falling (which is natural), but in a game you’re in no danger of falling, so why still fear it? A fear of death is in every animal, so when you’re about to die in game do you get panic attacks?
Yes the auto attack on axe is pathetic, even that is an understatement…Will it get changed any time soon? No, because the devs aren’t reading the necro (or any class forums), every now and then there’ll be a red post saying “We’re reading what you’re saying and taking in the feedback, the reason why we don’t reply is because we’re all too busy”, which is utter bullkitten.
The skill needs a massive buff, somewhere in the region of 30% damage increase. A change like this doesn’t take much work, all it needs is some testing vs other necro auto attack abilities to ensure it’s balanced. This testing clearly never happened pre-launch, like so many other aspects of the game, which was delayed so much because they didn’t want to ship out and unfinished product…..Mission unaccomplished.
No communication from devs explaining to us which of the issues on our bug lists are actually bugs and which are working as intended.
That’s my only issue atm…
The whole RNG system involving these rings is utter bullkitten and needs to be changed. if the rings weren’t so important at lvl20+ it’d be just fine, but they are extremely important. When a decent amount of people will reach lvl20 without getting a ring it’s bullkitten.
I’m only on lvl17 myself and I have not yet got a ring, I just know given my exceedingly bad luck with RNG I won’t get one either. So you’re just left with the choice of going back and farming lvls 10/12/14/16/18 hoping you’ll eventually get a ring, continue without one and pray the rest of your team has theirs and can carry you or just say enough is enough and stop doing the dungeon…
Someone has to kill the treb. Eles and necros do it best, but eles have better mobility.
What on earth are you talking about? Necros are the WORST at killing trebs, there’s 1 viable spec for a necro to run in PvP, that’s conditions….condition specs do not kill trebs. If you’re running any other spec as a necro you’re completely useless to your team, so it doesn’t matter if you can kill the treb of not.

There in lies the problem good sir. I personally don’t care too much about getting dates, but I want to know what you are working on, which just doesn’t happen. If you’re working on it already then telling the community isn’t going to create any hollow promises or anything. Right now we know that custom arenas are going to be the next pvp content….That’s it. I mean what are you going to do after that, surely you know.
Take the last patch for example, there was some nice pvp additions such as 5vs5 hot joins and daily/monthly achievements, surely these weren’t done over night, so you could have told the community about them while you were working on them, rather then the day the patch was released…………………..
Nobody will take you seriously if you don’t even bother to learn the names of the classes….it’s not hard.
I like both of those maps. Just learn how to dodge and use #2/#3 then the water maps is fine. As for the swamp, try changing your utilities for ones with teleport/swiftness/condi removal.
Conquest is a very good game mode. The problem is, that it’s the ONLY game mode we have so people are getting very bored of it. Anet hasn’t given any indication whether or not they are working on new games modes yet, so the future of PvP is looking extremely bleak atm…
Eles and Necros have continuosly been getting their buffs and are now working great in TPvP, Rangers still don’t really have a place
What buffs have necro got? The damage increase to 1 of the axe skill, which made no difference. Other then that it’s just been ‘bug’ fixes some of which really hurt the necro.

The reason people loved it so much was because it was too overpowered.
In the case of Necros, a 3 sec bleed + regen skill on dodge is already very strong. Adding the blast finisher is over the top. I suppose you could try asking for a trait that gives a blast finisher on dodge but nothing else or not much else (but would you still use it then? If you just liked using the blast finisher then you’d still use it right?)
You realise that the trait is bugged and doesn’t apply the correct amount of bleeds? Did they fix this? No they didn’t, instead they decided to nerf the trait, really amazing prioritising..
I guess giving necro a decent finisher would be far too OP….
Saying it needs a ‘revamp’ implies there is already matchmaking….Which for whatever reason, there isn’t.

If you have an instant cast teleport ability of any kind, you can use it in the middle of any other channeled ability or cast.
Yes….but other classes can’t do 15k damage in 1-2seconds, nor can they tp directly to a target while channeling other skills and also dealing considerable damage with the no animation leap.

Thieves can still Steal while casting other abilities, which was a bigger issue (imo).

Against certain set ups? You need to run a build that will always function. If you want to play a support type role I recommend a build like this

Last 10 trait points can go anywhere, even in blood for the WoB on revive if you think it’s worthwhile…
I’m hoping to see a movement away from simply burst and bunker that leads to more variety. As a warrior I feel limited to around 3 builds: burst glass cannon (most are smart enough to avoid now), Healshouts (OK but honestly it’s bunker dmg w/o bunker survivability), and a number of roamer builds that tend to be similar with Axe/Mace and other combos.
I’d like to see banners made viable, maybe a way to carry 3 banners (one on back, one in each hand?) but I don’t see that happening this patch obviously. I suppose I could be happy with the patch if they just fix the trait bugs. I would like to see the big 3 widely considered OP classes brought down to Warriors level as while I may love to complain about the class, it’s probably the most balanced class in the game.
So you think the most balanced class is one with roaming capabilities but easily avoidable damage and a low survivability bunker build? That doesn’t sound so balanced to me….Unless of course you want every class to be crap.
You can’t be a support necro with Wells without using ritual of protection. Your build is pretty bad in all honesty, ground targeting Wells is a waste of a trait considering curse trait line has some of the necro’s best traits. Weakening Shroud is such a basic trait for any necro, even though it’s bugged and doesn’t apply the correct bleeds, it’s still incredibly good.
The whole “look at my traits for ressing people, i’m so op” thing just doesn’t work, it just means you have traits that do nothing for the vast majority of the time and without any +healing the WoB on revive is useless, since you only get the HoT from it, which scales very well with healing power.
It also hits through walls, probably a bug. But we’ll never know unless it gets fixed, since ANet won’t tell us what’s working as intended in our very long ‘list-o-bugs’, even though they said they would.
You’ll be able to duel when they release the rentable servers.
This patch wont change anything for PvP’ers, it may spike a bit of interest in 8vs8 for a day or 2 with the new map, but that’s it.
Imo, PvP’ers (unless casual) should just take a break for a few months. There’s a lot of potential in gw2, but that wont be reached for a long time yet.
If you hit the invisible wall it generally means the treb shot would have probably hit to the side of the objective anyway. Just move the treb 1 tick to the left (it is left isn’t it? :P) and it should be fine…
You will not be able to use it, it’s a monster only skill. It sounds very similar to Spectral Agony which was a skill in gw1.

Necro has 2 of the best heals in the game (and the worst…) Consume conditions is so amazing in 1vs1, removing all conditions and healing you for a large amount. WoB is also extremely good, better for team fights, the aoe heal scales very well with healing power. The only heal in the game I would trade either of those 2 for is Healing spring, as a 15sec water field is op.
And you know that how exactly? That they don’t have anything to release when they feel done with the balance?
If they did, they would have said something, to keep people interested in the game…Which they have not done. We just get the most vague blog posts once a month with just enough info to keep the sheep happy without giving any real details.
Guild Wars 2 is in a balance phase.
When you balance a game, you shouldn’t have a lot of different game modes, you should go with one, and then see what professions needs tweaking, nerfing and buffing, and when ArenaNet feel that they are somewhat done with that, they can start releasing new game modes
Yes, but they should also have a bunch of content ready to be released when the balance is at a good place…which they do not.
For PvP, it’s not. Toughness is too important for a necro to lose. As a necro you don’t want to think about the raw damage that you do, you want to be thinking about staying alive for as long as possible to apply as many conditions as you can, let thieves/warriors/mesmers worry about the raw damage.

No it isn’t, it is PvP, which is why it is in the PvP section of this forum, PvP does not mean player hitting player, it means player competing against player.
You win WvW by PvE’ing, you can’t win it by PvP’ing.
Pretty sure Anet spent a lot of time on WvW, which is a type of PvP play. To say that PvP is an after thought because your prefered style isn’t adequately represented is unfair. Game launched with 3 kinds of PvP play. And they’re working on more now.
WvW is primarily PvE, which is why it seems more polished then PvP.
The devs at ANet just thought that having the 1 game mode and no decent rewards from PvP would be enough to keep people busy until they released more content…Obviously they were wrong.
Not being mean or anything, but they are a company and they have bills and salaries to pay.
Umm….How many copies of gw2 sold? And how many gems have been bought IG? I don’t know the exact numbers but I’m pretty sure the salaries are already paid for bro.
