Necro fear should be 2s base time,

Wrong. 1sec base time is fine. With 2sec Necro’s could easily get 4sec from each fear with runes and traits, which would just be stupidly broken.

I could maybe see 2sec base time, if they added a cap to the amount of time you could be feared, like 3sec, but that’s still too strong imo.

I’m fairly sure we don’t know any of these things yet…But expect some info “soon”.

They did mention that the might add some more stat options for the amulets (they will not add earrings/rings), but it requires lots of testing, so they don’t make certain builds op.

You’ve basically summed up a variety of builds of all professions…congratulations.

I don’t follow – How often do other classes who spec for survivability/attrition lose their cap points due to their classes mechanics?

As far as I’m aware (and I admit I could be wrong on this), shield wall, ignore pain, renewed vigor (or whatever the Guardian elite is called), Necro forms which give a second healthbar definitely don’t prevent capping. I also believe (but again am not sure) an engi can keep capping while Elixir-S’d, and also Ele’s in vapor form.

You’re just QQ’ing for the sake of QQ’ing. Do you expect thief to be the master of every role? Thief has far more versatility then a lot of other professions in the current meta game.

Awww, poor little thief has to roam and burst people to feel effective….try playing Necro. No burst option, lowest mobility. Only real options are either mediocre tanky spec or condition spec which stacks slower then ranger/thief.

@ Redscope. You clearly are unaware of necro’s finishers. To get the life steal from dark fields you need projectile finisher, necro has 1 projectile finisher which is necrotic grasp, this is only a 20% proc rate and is very slow. Necro already has 2 other dark fields to use, so losing this 1 for the sake of more diversity and interesting play would be more then acceptable.

So, I was thinking about how 1 dimensional necro’s are at the moment, and a good change to make some different styles of game play would be to change the dark combo field on well of darkness to a smoke combo. Why it’s a dark combo, and a necro’s only viable combo finisher is blast makes no sense, because dark field + blast finisher = blind, which well of darkness already does. A thieves black powder ability is very similar to well of darkness, it blinds in an AoE over 4 seconds, yet this is a smoke field, so it would kind of make sense to give necro’s the same.

This is just a small change that could really spice up the necro in it current state.

I find if I’m playing shortbow ranger I can stop using #1 for a moment and use #4, then go right back to spamming #1. I find this to be a very advance tactic for ranger play.

It is a big nerf. BiP was our only way of getting that instant burst of LF at the start of a match, when you really need it, given how weak necro’s our without any LF.

I just do not see why they nerfed yet another necro skill, the only reason I can think of is because they plan to give necro’s some LF at the start of matches in the near future which would make BiP useless, but if this is the case then why not nerf BiP when that change comes?…

It’s hard for me to convey just how much I hate people who QQ about not being able to do quick join matches with 4 friends. If you want to play as a group of 5, go tornaments, that’s why they are there. I imagine the people who QQ about that are the groups who constantly lose in tornaments, and think they’d do better pub stomping against randoms.

If you’re running the standard condition build, you shouldn’t be killing mesmers 1vs1, unless they are really bad. If you do want to kill mesmers in 1vs1 situations your best bet is to use a tankier build and well of darkness, it still wont be easy but it’s do-able.

Tip: Look for the little red arrow…

@ Uncop. You’ve clearly never played Necro, you say that they are versatile and that minions are reliable. Necros are a 1 trick pony, if you wish to be viable in tPvP. And minons being reliable? Haha, what a joke, a necro’s minions have the worst AI in any game ever created in the history of man, if you played necro you would know this. 80% of the time they sit around doing nothing, 15% of the time they attack a different target to you, and only 5% of the time they will be useful to you.

LoL is competitive because it;s so casual. More casual players, means more viewers for the comp matches, which means more money. Most competitive MOBA players who have played all 3 of the big games in that genre, HoN/dota/LoL often say that HoN/dota are better games, but they play LoL because of the money.

You’ll hardly ever be able to spread the conditions, at least not in tornament play. Most fights will be 2vs2, and unless the 2 you are facing are both melee (which is very unlikely), or thye are very bad at positioning, the chances of hitting your epidemic are very slim.

LoL has so much better community team. They even share their status and problems they are getting into.
Even if they needed long time to do something, they did it, and we were always part of it.
QQ was always there, but we were informed when it was needed.

Anet is playing too safe, and we all can see what happened.
Too casual game.
Innovative (and I like them very much because of it) but made too casual to attract much more player base, even tho players are more competitive then casual in this kind of games.
This casuality will be bane to GW2, so it would be really smart of Anet if they start share their thoughts and plans with us.

I like this post. You refer to LoL and the success it’s had, then go onto to say gw2 is too casual….LoL is one of the most casual games around atm, and that’s THE reason it’s so successful….

I play necro as main, have done through-out all betas. You say condition control, and hint towards epidemic, which imo (and quite a few others) is a trash skill, and incredibly over-rated. Necro can get upto around 17 staks of bleed at a peak, and then maintain around 10-12. Compare this to rangers/thieves who can stack 20+ in a few seconds while also doing decent raw damage. However much I want to, I cannot see any role for a necro in the current meta, they offer nothing another class doesn’t do better.

I do agree that thieves aren’t as good as a lot of people seem to think, and they do get wrecked by condition damage, as they lack decent removal. However, I do feel as if they need a complete rework, as inititive is one of the worst class mechanics I’ve seen, all it does is promotes pub stomping, by spamming the same 1-2 skills a seemingly endless amount of times with absolutely no conseques for bad plays.

As a necro you should never be going to kill their treb, unless maybe they fix minions AI and you run with that, but until then you do not try to kill it. What you need to kill their treb is an ele, thief or a warrior, all of these can demolish trebs very quickly. If they cannot handle it alone, then somebody should idealy help them kill the mesmer, or at the very least make the mesmer run away, and that could be upto the necro, depending on the team set up.

Of course if you’re pugging then you should just accept that any organised team will demolish you.

I’m from England and to buy gems it’s £8.50 for 800 gems, for the Euro/dollar it’s 10 for 800 gems.

Given cuurent exchange rate, £8.50 is equal to $13.75, so if I was to buy gems I’d be paying $3.75 more, is this fair?…

1/ Necro – So much burst damage, even more diveristy. So many build options for this class.
2/ Ele – Damage really hard to avoid.
3/ Warrior – Super awesome sustaianed dps, weak burst and hard to avoid.
4/ Ranger – Strong skills, but do not function well with #1 spam.
5/ Engi – Strong power class, easy to learn aswell.
6/ Thief – Good for point holding and absorbing damage, can roam a little but not as good as necro.
7/ Guardian – Best when played as DPS but outshined by necro/ele.
8/ Mesmer- weak everything, easy to kill, has very little ways to escape, low damage weak downed state, I see no future for this class.

Necro by far worst downed state.

GW2 is not balanced around TDM style matches….I’m fine with objective game modes, I’d just wish they add more, sooner rather then later.

But there are lots of issues as to why pvpers are quitting gw2, and I’m sure that A-net is aware of this and will address it “soon”.

Epidemic is the most over-rated skill a necro has imo, at least for PvP. I eihter use spectral walk, well of darkness, BiP or flesh wurm.

The one build we DO have is not ‘very strong.’ It’s just somewhat viable.

‘Very Strong’ is something along the lines of Bull Rush -> 100 Blades’ing 2 players to death simultaneously at Windmill and capping it by yourself because they got blindsided by the sheer power. This is not something Necro is capable of. And I’m not saying Warriors are overpowered, they’re not. They’re just fine. Necro is just far behind the curve.

So, the only way for a build to be considered strong is if it has burst damage and works as a pub stomper? I see.

These threads bother me a lot. Our solo PvE capabilites are just fine, I don’t think anyone says differently. Necro’s completely fall below the curve when fighting world bosses, thanks to the 25 bleed stack cap and pathetic power options we have.

Then if you go to PvP as a necro, we have 1 viable build, which yes, is very strong. But that’s it, we have no diversity, forced to run with the same build game after game, with only a slight margin to change traits/utilities around.

People defending the map?…The sharks are part of the map, so yes the map is horrible.

I’ll explain what happens in every game on this map. 1-3 from each side goes to ruins, rest go to base objective, there will be a 2min death match at ruins until 1 team caps it. 1 will then procede to camp the objective (pray it’s not a thief) meaning it’s impossible to cap without 3+ people. Meanwhile the rest of the people will be constantly running back and forward between dock and beach creating a living a breathing ball of zerg.

When I do random 8vs8, I just join a game in legacy and leave 2 games later when the match on forest ends. This way I get to avoid the map.

25 seconds retaliation by combo

3seconds from the trait Spiteful Spirit, 5seconds from the trait Spiteful Vigour, 3seconds from axe #3. Then what most people are struggling with, when you use Well of Blood it’s creates a light combo field, combine this with the bone minion(x2)/wurm explosions, which are blast finishers, you get AoE retaliation. You get 2 ticks for 3sec each per minion exploded, which is a total of 18seconds. You also have a blast finisher on Putrid mark which gives another 6seconds.

Which is a total of 35seconds. The OP obviously didn’t use all of these retalitation devises in his build.

A lot of Necro’s do not like the fact that the 2nd skill in DS ports you on top of the target, which is often the last place you want to be while playing a necro.

So my suggestion would be to make it so when the projectile hits, the target gets the bleeds/chill as it is now, but you don’t TP, instead you get the option to hit the skill again to TP to the target, with a 2-3sec leash time on it. This way if you don’t want to be ported you don’t need to be, but you still have the option there to do so.

Of course this would throw some issues up when the spell finishes casting after your DS runs out, but imo it’s worth the trade off…

Alternatively you could make it like a Thief’s Infiltrators Strike, where it TP’s you innitially, then activate again to TP back to your original point. Again with a small leash time of only 2-3 seconds.

I count, 6 + 6 + 6 + 3 + 5 + 3 = 28 + 20% (from death magic) = 33.6sec

Do you get retaliation from every tick of the well or just once after casting?

Ticks 2 times for 3sec each, so 12 in total.

Can people stop bringing up WvW, all WvW is sitting on castle walls spamming spells, and obvisouly classes with AoE damage will do better, and yes a condition necro spamming mark of blood does a lot of damage. This does not mean the class is balanced…

I just don’t understand why they aren’t fixing the bugs as soon as they can, rather then what they are likely doing now which is waiting to release a lot of fixes at the same time. I’m sure a group of professional developers and programmers can fix 2-3 bugs a day.

The skill looks good on paper, but in reality it’s not. It has 1 function and that is to give life force. Having a skill which scales with power on a weapon which is condition based truely baffles me. Yes I’m aware that it does more damage with conditions, but the standard condition build will leave you with 916 power (in PvP), so the raw damage this spell does is just pathetic, with 6 conditions the spell crits for maybe 1k.

It’s one of the most misplaced skills in the game, they should replace it with a skill that chills for 1sec and grants LF.

I have ran a similar build, and it is fun, but that’s about as far as it goes. Once you’ve blown your minions up and used you burst, you’re just left with a terrible build which does nothing.

What some people fail to realize is that you have tremendous amount of freedom.

I stopped reading after this. Necro has close to zero freedom. They have to run scepter MH, dagger OH isn’t 100% neccessary, but it’s by far the best option. They need to have staff secondary. Then for utilities, without corrupt boon/plague signet you are pretty much crap, so you have all that freedom to pick the last utility skill.

Then for traits, you need 30 in curses, at least 10 in SR, 20 is best. So then you have 20-30 left to spend, which is ‘ok’ freedom, but when you consder we have very little useful traits, the freedom is not there.
