Brilliant piece, as ever.
Must resist urge to cackle diabolically knowing that I’m next.
And (for now at least) last, which is a shame (though I must admit somewhat poetic). I’m sorry for everyone that missed out.
Lo, my time draws nigh.
Mwahahahahahahahaha-er… I mean, welcome back.
I want to bump this just so that it stays near the top.
Good luck with your search!
That’s fine, Duckgirl, take your time with getting real work out of the way before you indulge us.
I think Enchantress and I would probably agree that we’d rather a piece that you were able to take your time with than something you had to rush and squeeze in.
Quality takes time, and time demands patience.
Very nice work as always, Duckgirl. Really looking forwards to mine.
At the risk of repeating myself:
Soon. Sooooooon.
Ha! Kittentails… lovely auto-correcting filter.
Anyway, these look fantastic. I will be trying the charr and mesmer one sometime soon. If you don’t hear from me…
Aha!
Thanks!
Very impressive! The Golem is particularly dynamic.
Out of curiousity, what would you rates be for a commission?
Turkish/cowboy coffee hybrid?
I am intrigued.
The wastes have always been arid – heck, there was an area aptly named Dry Top.
Might have been because of Mordemoth was sleeping under it, but we don’t know much about his/her/its powers yet.
…This must be done.
And profession recipes? Not sure what the recipe itself would be but I suggest that the mesmer one includes a requirement that for every swig you take everyone else has to take three.
Preferably of absinthe.
Soon.
Sooooooon.
Let it not be understated just how awesome IoJ’s community is.
Pre-Megaserver days I guested here and there and I can honestly say that IoJers are just the friendliest bunch.
And yet, we still deliver.
Very nice! I particularly like the second one ; a picture that tells a story.
I don’t suppose you’d be potentially interested in taking commissions?
Very nice!
Every picture put up is one closer to mine. I am excited.
I carry everything with me, but usually run greatsword and sword/pistol, especially in WvW. A carefully placed iZerker through a zerg’s casting backline can do wonderful amounts of damage and cause widespread panic. I do tend to switch to staff from time to time, usually when playing defence and sometimes when roaming. The sword never goes away though.
Most dungeons I’ll drop the GS and switch to sw/foc or sw/sw.
Twilight was my first legendary and thus far the only legendary I have on my main, and as a result it always feels kind of wrong to unequip it.
Made the list, barely.
I am officially pleased, though I must confess to a modicum of guilt for those who missed out.
It’s June 1rst in Singapore/SEA. Let the madness begin.
I’ve sent you a PM.
Ioj stands no chance in T4. From what I heard from a friend in ioj, commanders let the enemy take their keeps so they can take it back.
I’ve not seen this at all – and since I’ve been on vacation I’ve been ingame a lot. In fact the general vibe that I get from my server has been one passionately against this kind of behaviour.
As a main mesmer myself, I agree entirely with Humble Crow’s post and yes, you hit the nail right on the head: Patience.
A lot of thieves are a little spoiled in that they’re so used to quick kills. Mug, CnD, backstab, collect bag, etc.
Mesmers have a lot of answers to these bursts – multiple sources of invulnerability (Blurred Frenzy, Distortion for days), a few stealths, and stunbreaks everywhere. Permavigor too.
But against a thief that knows how to withdraw and collect himself for a second burst after the first one has failed, things get a lot more dangerous. I get worried if the thief backs off and starts taking his time to reassess the situation and attack from a new angle.
Although, be careful about the clones; depending on the traits the mesmer has taken, killing them could well cause all kinds of conditions and being crippled while trying to move around in stealth can spoil anyone’s day. Particularly if there are a couple of iZerkers or iDuellists around.

No no no no no no no no no no no did -not- need to think about a naked Norgu doing the river dance.
No. No. No no no no no no no no…
…I thought he’d made a Frodo or Sauron lookalike from reading the title.
Looks good though!
God I wish I could draw…
Best of luck to everyone taking part, I’m actually pretty excited to see what they come up with for you.
All you adorable human thieves and your T3 human cultural, I’m here to represent the stealers from the Grove.
Hear hear!
Because it’s one of the basis of how mesmers fight…?
We’re not going to stand toe-to-toe with you because we could never win that way.
To be honest, I’m not really sure if I understand the question. It kind of sounds like you’re complaining about a basic gameplay mechanic that’s specifically designed to make mesmers good at duelling, which is kind of the point of the class, but like I said I’m not sure if that’s what you’re saying.
What would your suggestion be to “fix” (I use the term loosely since I don’t think it needs fixing) this?
…I am trying to save money here! And then look at you, putting up something like that.
I might have to commission something soon.
That is actually pretty kitten cool!
So we’re in garri in IoJ. We get hit on one side by a FA zerg.
And then we get on the other side by a DB zerg.
Fortunately we had enough siege to last, but man were those some tense moments. If it hadn’t been for the fact that you two started butchering each other I might have been suspicious…
Also, to whatever commander was inside Hills defending with a pair of Omegas, kudos. You put up a hell of a fight.
Love me some style threads. Also love that people take the time to make their characters look friggin’ awesome.
Aecia, my sylvari thief.
Loves assisting with the slow extinction of dolyaks. Hey, we all have to do our part, right?
Got a new Charr thief as well, but she’s just hit level 30, so we’re going to give her some time before she shows her pretty er… face here.
…I had to. I really did. I couldn’t resist.
…So is that second picture a Flame Ram?
For me, Ele is probably the top of the heap yes, particularly staff.
My list is the same Alissah’s, with the exception of swapping Engineer with Warrior. A fully kitted out Engineer gives me more trouble than a warrior on most days.
It does depend a little on what build/gear I’m running at the time though.
I think all my money is going to start going into the pockets of artists.
Yeah, expect something from me sooner rather later. Very impressive.
No apologies needed, just very eager.
I’ll wait patiently while watching this thread like a hawk.
Man, hella great fights in IoJ garri today and IoJ Keep in EB.
Seriously, Yak’s Bend, how many of you are there!?
And for the YB Colonel I mesmer/mesmer duelled with near Hills on IoJ BL, hats off. You put up a hell of a fight.
Sooooo…
Does this mean your queue is open again?
Because I am chomping at the bit here.
Very impressive!
Expect an email from me sometime. I’m collecting as many portraits of my main as I can.
Some great fights in IoJ Borderlands today, but man, Yak’s Bend – there’s just no end to you guys!
Thanks for a lot of good scraps, NSP too.
Some interesting ideas, I think, but personally I think that’s supposed to be part of the compromise with banners; you plant the banner where you intend to fight and sacrifice a degree of your own potential combat output in exchange for group-wide benefits.
I’ve always felt they were designed for defensive situations or at least situations where a zerg has decided “this is where the fight’s going to be”. One of my warriors is a banner-support spec and I run with her fairly frequently in WvW (though not for a while now, I admit). With a fairly organised group (and really, any zerg should be doing this anyway) you can easily transport the banners from one fight to another by just picking them up and carrying them.
Whenever I run with my guild, for example, they know the rule if any of us bring banners – between fights, if there’s a banner lying around, pick it up and carry it to the next fight. As there’s actually very little CD for banners, there can be almost no downtime between their effects being active.
I think it might be a little too easy (and potentially too powerful) if the warrior can do all of that themselves. More importantly, I think it might drift away from one of things I like about banners today – they encourage player cooperation. The warrior brings the banners, the least other members of the group can do is help them carry the bloody things.
Still, I find it a very interesting and well thought up idea.
Personally for me the LB is a utility weapon in WvW but I carry one almost religiously when I’m with a zerg or group. I mostly use it to immobilize rabbiting players before closing for the kill and to stack area might on team mates with Combustive Shot + Arcing Arrow. It’s also not too bad for putting AoE fields down on walls to take pressure off of friendly rams/gatecrashers.
When running solo or in small teams and I want a ranged weapon I usually take a rifle for the ludicrously high damage you can get right off the bat from Killshot.
So personally I feel that yes, it’s a good WvW weapon, but I only really use it in group situations.
I would happily submit screenshots for a request/commission/practice piece and as Spoj said, you’ve definitely earned the right to be confident.
I’d personally love a piece done in the first picture’s style, and yes, if you’re interested, please let us know what you’d need/want for it.
Second in line? Nooooooo!
Eh, I’m good. Looking forwards to seeing what you come up with.
And no promises on the quality of the colouring – it’s been a while, but I do love to tinker.
I love that people take the time to make their characters look good. It’s inspiring.
@AkioFallstar looks really good! also female version of gladiator helmet way better than the male one does.
Thanks!
I quite like the helmet, she just needs new boots as the current (barbaric, if I remember correctly) have a bit of a clipping issue with the draconic leggings. It’s an easy fix, just need to pick a set and transmute them, but I just haven’t gotten around to it.
@Splat Zone
Looking especially good! First pic makes her look all manner of kitten.
Very impressive! I particularly like the Quaggans.
Are you considering taking requests/commissions?
Sounds interesting! First come, first serve, eh? I’m in.
1G min, 15G max sound agreeable to you?
Would you consent to the picture, once you’ve completed it, becoming mine for the purposes of colouring, editing, using, etc. with the assumption that I credit you for it if I ever put it up anywhere on the miraculous interwebs?
Pictures attached below assuming you say yes and because I want to be first in line.
The first pose is preferable, but really, I’m not that picky. If you need more screens, let me know.
Oh, and your first link is dead, by the by. Doesn’t seem to work, though the second works fine.
Also, you have to add pictures as attachments (More posting & formatting options) as [img][/img] doesn’t work.
Everytime I had this problem getting downed fixed it.
Snip
It seems to me that your problem isn’t related to the bug advertised in this thread. You may want to check if you actually unocked the skill on your character, it may be unlocked to 95%
I wish to publicly announce that I am an idiot, and I made a kitten .
Yes, it was 95% or enough that I couldn’t actually see it, even on the weaponskill menu.
I will now leave to spend the rest of my life in my embarrassed exile in some distant monastery.
Oh kitten , I just started a thread about this – deleted and reposted here.
My Guardian’s focus 5 (Shield of Wrath) doesn’t want to work at all.
Clicking or hitting 5 while my focus is equipped doesn’t provoke any reaction from the skill on the skillbar. No animation, no flashing icon, no CD. I’ve tried restarting my client, switching weapons, changing zones, etc. etc.
My other characters’ focus 5 skills are working fine, so I don’t think it’s got anything wrong on my end, and my guardian’s other 5 skills (and indeed all skills) are working fine.
Focus 4 works fine too, 5 just doesn’t want to activate for some reason.
I have been looking forward to this. Now that I have a decent connection I’m pretty eager to get to spar with CORE, apparently you lot are having a blast in there.
Nomnomnom went to FA as well, didn’t he?
