Warrior is as easy as the user can make it be.
Playing a warrior PROPERLY in PvE being a usefull character for everyone and still autosuficient requieres a LOT more effort and THINKING.
But most Warriors players goes all brainless bandwagon signet hurr durr build and thats it, we are, a braindead proffession just cause 1 build that everyone use, above all, is the most unrewarding and booring way to play a warrior.

The people who left because there wasnt “enough to do” arent worth anyones time, do people stop playing Call of duty because “they played all the maps.” No, they keep playing because its a (mostly) balanced competitive game that puts people on a balanced system and lets them have FUN. you think any FPS/RTS would last if one guy got things other people didnt have?
It is interesting that you bring up Call of Duty, since the same thing that just happened to GW2 trying to cater to the WoW fans happens to FPS games trying to cater to Call of Duty fans.
They marginalize the aspects of the game that make it unique and implement changes to make it more like Call of Duty and end up with a cheap clone of Call of Duty. The players that liked it for what it was are alienated and leave.
Eventually, the Call of Duty fans go back to Call of Duty. I don’t recall a game where things got better after the changes…
And the game that do it diferent was Battlefield 3, but battlefield 3 stick to their plans till the end and there is it, one of the most successfull FPS of the generation, instead of going for another game audiences a game has to offer something no other has.
GW2 just discarted the only thing that was diferent from others.
Dinamic Events? Warhammer are better and cooler.
WvW? Any open PvP/PK game has it better, from L2 to the very same Warhammer.
Art Desing? that is arguable, but there are a lot of wonderfull worlds out there that rivals with Tyria.
Combat? Sorry, but Vindictus and TERA has them so much better done.
And i could keep going, the only thing that was great and unique about this game was that Exotic gear was easy to obtain and was the best you can get, from there there was only fashion… No other MMORPG was offering that. Now that change.

We have nothing against the new dungeon itself (maybe something about the new agony condition) nor against new maps, new puzzles, new enemies, new bosses, new game mechanics, new cool looking armor sets, etc. Cause thats content and everyone loves new and more things to do.
Adding more stats to a diferent coloured piece of equipment is not content.
If you can point out, which part of this announcement explicitly points out that arenanet are turning GW2 into a gear threadmill, power creep snowball. Then your argument might actually hold weight. But you cannot, because it’s simply not there.

You know about the snowball effect?
When you throw a snowball downhill it will become bigger and bigger, till it destroys itself against a tree or a fence beging reduced to nothing.
This update, no, this change, this new ascended mechanic is just like a little push to the snowball, and if Anet already do one little push, nothing will stop them to do another one, till the ball begin move downhill…
You know anything about sea navigation? 1 milimeter doesn`t see as much on a map, but if the navigator misses by 1 milimeter the whole ship will, at 24 hours, missing their route by 120-130 kilometers… This is why most of us is here crying, Anet is about to miss by 1 milimeter.

This is just dissapointing.
1.- Introduction of an inbetween was unnecesary, first of all, legendaries are the same as exotics, so actually these ascended are more powerfull than legendaries.
2.- Legendaries are no hard to get, they are not a “long term goal” they are just booring to get, cause you have to grind the hell out to get one, and be favored by RNG gods to be “legendary” so again, a flawled desing in this category, the legendaries, has become a game-level event. Legendaries do have nothing legendary on them, they should be called gridingdaries or RNGdaries, but you do NOTHING legendary to get them.
3.- This is the first step on power creep, and this isn`t even be doing by lack of content, is being doing just for the flawled desing of lengendary items adquisitions and the “wall” that actually, no one cares. And after this the Snowball effect begins, now the ball is going downhill and will not stop.
4.- So you are now aiming to “hardcore” too? well, adding farming isn`t something hardcore, you are aiming now to a deadbrain playerbase of zombies that think grind is fun and rewarding while is not. Harder and deeper combat mechanics would be hardcore, a whole hardcore level dificulty will be hardcore, new and harder bosses that requiere actual tactics and not just zerg autoattack spam would be hardcore, you miss the whole point here, by lightyears.
5.- The color of the ascended category is terrible, please change that.
You have betrayed most your playerbase and your true fans, you have betrayed yourselves and your manifesto. For what, grindkittens of other games? This is terrible ArenaNet, and you should feel shame.
I will give a glance at this new equipment and see how hard to get it is, if it takes me more than a day to get a piece of it, i leave the game, there is a whole fkn world of grinding games out there which are really more cool than this. You have killed the only one thing that make GW2 stand out from the rest.
A smart warrior knows which fights he can win and which he can not.
A 1v1 against a Thief is almost a suicide, and this is true for every class not only warriors, you can`t out DPS them, you can`t stand too much time against them and they have better mobility.
When im in a 1v1 situation, i usually stop moving, stand my ground and wait my enemy screw things up while my HP is going down, at the slightest error, i burn my mobility skills to escape.
And im a very tanky warrior, a glasscannon one is condemned to die horribly, there isn`t much to do there, thief class outperform most classes on duels.
Earthshaker > All.
AoE, high dmg, stun, cool animation, movement skill… Id say is a bit OP, o use to carry signet of fury just to refill my adrenaline to throw Earthshaker twice lol.
Have someone actually see what frenzy + hammer is capable? its a DPS high enough to be recognized and you keep all your control… Hammer is by far best in the Warrior, and is one of the best weapons for the warrior.
Hundred Blades is the actual bandwagon build for 2 reasons.
1.- Inexperienced/Bad players can use it without problem, is a 1,2,3 – a,b,c step build.
2.- Inexperienced/Bad players can`t counter/evade it so they taste the floor really quick.
The big balance issue here is this:
To land a 100B the warrior need to prepare 4 things in which 1 makes it optimal but is optional.
1.- Knockdown / Stun target. (we have the biggest array of skills to do this so…)
2.- Prepare frenzy/buff himself (optional)
3.- ??
4.- Profit.
But to escape from that 3-4 steps you need to check a thousand things (well, more like 8 things) so basically here we have a very common issue in balancing which is more than anything a APM (actions per minute) diference (yeah, SC too much, but its just like this).
To properly land a 100b you need… Fingers, that simple, and a keyboard… And the game of course. To properly evade the 100b, you need well, first know when its going to land (which is really obvius for most cases) and then prepare to perfectly execute every movement for the next 4 seconds to actually see that dumb warrior slashing the air… But that requieres way too"micromanagment" much in comparison to what the 100b user need to do. And if you screw it up in one of those steps in those 4 second, you will die or eat a lot of damage which still is victory for the 100b user.
Yeah, i know i making sound that evading a 100b is like rocket science, but compare the dificult between land a 100b and evade a 100b, THERE is the unbalance of the skill.
Which could be fixed which a very few changes, like making the 100b animation
“a vulnerable chance” where you can`t roll (you CAN`T roll, that`s diferent to not do it to cut the animation, is not being capable to interrupt the skill by yourself while it has started) or “debuff” the warrior while he is doing the 100b, or both. That will balance things, landing a 100b will be still easy, but will carry a lot more cons for the hurr durr 100b warrior.
And this is supposing we have both inexperienced players, imagine when a really good player does this to a newbie… Is just way too much kitten for a single skill. Seriusly.

Even if is a good idea, it is terrible for the “purpose” of the “legendaries”.
And it will be a good addition if something arround those “legendaries” were in fact “legendary” like ending a really insane dificult dungeon full of bosses, clocktower level jumping puzzles and other kind of challenge with a near 0 chance to get the weapon making it a real testament of you having actually fought against the odds to get the weapon… Not just a shiny proof of you having speend +500 hours in Orr farming and the corresponding dungeon.
Warrior.
If you have 30 in tactics you only need to change 2 traits and equipment to switch between a healing shout build which buff and heals for maybe the best AoE heal of the game and is really fast… And not to mention the short but effective buff, debuff and CC that Shouts give
But the other choise is my favorite Banner support, which gives a REALLY BIG stat buff that is really helpfull in battles and with tactics banner you increase the healing even more… And it gives regen which is nice, not something to be fascinated but is a plus. And banners give you the freedom to move and focus on the battle contrary to the belief that banners in fact, slow things down, which is fake, all the oposite, shouts condemn you to be looking at CD and worring more on the buff/debuff timing than moving in the battlefield… With banners you just spread them well to have most your mates on their ranges and you are free to move till their long CD goes off, but is not that long, so you can focus on the battle and then you will just rebuff after some action. Works wonders in WvW sieges and Dungeons, not so good at random zerg vs zerg. Really not good for PvP xD
Mace.
Warhorn is a Support off-hand, Mace is a defensive main-hand and defensive off-hand too. Having both you get a defensive bonus that allows you to buff/debuff for more time with the warhorn. (if you have it traited of course)
Now if you want to do dmg while still having that buff/debuff Axe is the way to go, that does damage while keeping mobility.
If you go sword, you get even higher mobility but the DPS goes down.
But i do insisnt, the Mace is the best weapon to have while using a Warhorn.
The problem is unrewarding experience in low-mid zones and lack of unique and attractive content on capitals.
The game should scale his dificulty by maps, thats clear, a 1-15 map should be easier than a 80 map. But the rewards should scale up based on your level. If you are 80 in a level 1-15 map you shoul recieve a full 80 rewards items, time to time you recive some high items so you at least can savage something, but mostly you see level 1-30 crap. Going back to starter zones isn`t worth it!
Capitals are great, they all have their unique style which is awesome, but they don`t have anything special (besides some minigames) that could move people to them, that`s called “influential zone” in demographics, and in the map as it is now, the only influential focus of the game are Lion`s Arch and Orr, with a minor population on Frostgeorge.
To fix this you need to divert atention from LA to other cities, making those cities to have something UNIQUE that LA do not have and players NEED, and viceversa of course.

I like the style of risen, most people think “meh, zombies” but they actually are somewhat diferent, they are all “populated” by corals and kitten that style is really new, but seriusly, the problem is that they are too many… But, this should not surprise anyone, we are facing the tide, the tide is this, a coral infinite army =X

At first i wasn`t that hooked, till i saw Clocktower, just epic =D!
wvwvw jumping puzzles ARE PVP jumping puzzles.
They give PvP rewards and are in a PvP enviroment. Griefing and Camping are just tactics, if a server hold the main jumping puzzle in EBF they can deny practically the half of the enemy siege golems production x)
Its the headquarters of a ancient more-than-a-god dragon of the undead that have an almost infinite source of corpses to raise their army and he raised the entire place from the deeps of the sea where it was for like 300 years… ¿You think that would be a nice place to take a look out?
BUT! plaguebearers are annoying, mob should be harder/challengier but not annoying. Besides that, Orr is exactly what is supposed to do.
A plus this game has is exactly that, every region, every zone has their own historical background and the things you have to do and how “enemies are” in those zones are very related.
Forget about a new ancient dragon, deep sea dragon isn`t even named and besides, he resides far, far beyond the sea of sorrows. And all other 3 dragons are discarted.
This is just a map update, new quest, events, probably new kind of gear, even maybe a new legendary, lots of new recipes, jumpuzzles and a world boss or two. It will probably expand personal history too, to a “stage of peace” after Zhaitans defeat…
Or thats what i want to belive…

The event was the intro video to the dungeon, not the dungeon itself, very epic i must say =D
First, i love having diferent skills depending on the weapon i have. Its a good system and make more sense than having “universal” skills that works on everyweapon. This help weapons to have their own style and thats a good thing.
Now, having only 5 skills per each is bad. What we need are more skills per weapon, obviusly they will work just as utility skills, a big selection of skills but only can be changed while not in combat.
Why to do these changes? everytime you see X class with X weapon you know exactly what skills they have and in some cases you can even know what build they are using and even what utility skills they are runing just cause you can see their weapon. Thats terrible for competitive game, cause surprise and variety is an important factor on the fight.
Some of the ideas look valid, others not so much.
Can already see people disliking other people, reporting them, and those people getting those annoying questions all the time.
I’d rather see a GM in game. GM goes to a zone, asks in Zone “Any bots around”. Storm of replies of where the bots are. GM goes inspect. When easy to spot bot has been inspected by GM, the GM gives a permanent ban.
It would cost about a day or 2 to remove 99% of the bots this way.
Even more, there are plenty of users that would be very much happy to do this without a single payment, you only need the proper condition terms for them and you can make a real strategic team made of players in each server to deal with the bot problem IF it is so hard for Anet to deploy ingame GMs to deal with them.
Cause seriusly, this economy is driven by rafting materials and the “spots” that are really god for them are counted with the fingers… To the time now, i dont know what it is, but it seems that Anet just dont want to make the bot disapear, sorry to tell you but thats what its looks like.
My suggestion is the next.
It`s a shame that capital cities are so empty, and is also a shame that Lion`s Arch is itself so overcrowded so here is my proposal.
1.- Remove the Crafting Stations of Lion`s Arch: This is simple, most people stay at lion`s arch cause they have everything, that includes several things, but what they most seem to like there are the crafting stations, leaving them only for Capital Cities will make people to move to those cities.
2.- Add a tax fee for “region” waypoint transfers: If you teleport from ascalon to the grove you should not only pay a great amount of money but also have a high tax, that will encourage people to use the portals and to transfer to lions arch. Even more, moving to the waypoint that is next to asura portals in each city but lion`s arch should be free.
3.- Remove the interface option to enter PvP and WvW: The only way to enter PvP and WvW should be fort mariener asura portals. That way people should have to move from the region they are to Lion`s Arch and then to WvW, and that will also cut down the “free teleport” from everywhere to Lion`s Arch.
I think taking these meseaures we can make all cities looks like cities. Even more, addition of certain periodic events in each city will encourage even more people to move to them, and to not make Lion`s Arch a desert we regulate it by leaving 2 exclusive content there, the mystic forge and the PvP/WvW asura gates.
Just as my game, and there was a filter below to add FXAA filters, so it looks even more great.
if you don’t wanna grind go play a MOBA game. In a mmorpg you should always have what to do and you should help other players and require their help as well. Like a certain mmo that i played 6 years ago, where you couldn’t kill mobs alone (and no they weren’t humanoid mobs, they were monsters, which makes sense) and you couldn’t farm gear alone (you needed a clan to get gear).
mmorpgs are about connecting with other people, you can barely do that in gw2

Beating something extremely hard for me is an accomplishment all in its own, I dont need to outgear something to beat it, I have skill, that is my advantage. The true difference between gw2 players and every other mmo player.
People will not understand that.
Most of these conditioned players belive that “getting equipment” improves their abilities. They think that doing the same raid 50 times till by RNG that sword drops, and that sword makes them better (only in stats) is related to skills, they see the word “SKILL” in all of that… which is awfull.
I wonder how all these funbois blindly believe there is nothing wrong with the game. I agree with OP, especially about the guilds, hell, this game’s title is Guild Wars.
It lacks challenge in PvE, battle mechanics need to be adjusted, dungeons are easy and unrewarding, the DE and the reward system are not truly “equally rewarding” doing DE in Orr > Plains of Ashford and thats not supposed to happen, still room for a lot of visual improvisations. Weapons should have more skills, obviusly weapon locked and only 5 actives, but is a bad thing that everyone just looking at the weapon you have knows all the skills you are going to use inmidiatly. PvP need tables, WvW needs more people and less bugs. Balanced classes are not completed. Camera issues, we need a first person camera. We need a developer team that actually could begin to work in the realization of addons. We need raids. We need more PvE content, even if there is a lot already some more is needed and more diverse, bots and goldsellers need to be taken care off NOW. Economy is terrible, yet better than many games is not a good thing be a crafter in this kind of unstable economy. Shall i continue?
One thing is to understand what things are not working as they should, are missing, and need to be solved, one thing is to realize that there is a developer team behind the product that does it as they like cause is their “art” and thats what “artist” do, thing like they want, and finally and most importantly is to understand what is the desing plan, the fundaments, the lines the project will follow and what is in fact, the phylosphy behind everything.

And that “progress” has any replay value? is fun in anyway? the anwser is no. When you go back and kill anything in 1 hit you are not having fun, you are just mindlessly sitting in front of a monitor without actually enjoying anything.
And in this game there is a progress, is actually, as in real life, what ever you think is a good goal. And here is the challenge for most of the conditioned gamers of today, you don`t know hat a goal is if not presented throught 5 months of trailers, dev diaries and it comes packed in a kitteny power creep update.

Im totally stunned at what these kids call “carebear”. They are throwing you in a world where the only way you can win against others is by skills… How is that “carebear”? Curiously these must be the very same people that cries all over when they got PK`ed in other games lol.
Is there any? I just started playing but it seems you can do anything you want from the start. I maybe overlooking something but what’s the motivation to level?

AoE warrior, hammer and longbow are epic, and with a decent amout of armor you can stand a lot of enemies =D
That`s why u need to find a proper RP clan or community, so you dont have to deal with the people that do not realize they are playing a ROLE PLAYING GAME that is what RPG stands for lol.
I RP a lot on my guild, but shame is, is a latin american one, i do enter “charr-mode” as they say and is fun, cause they are not RPlayers, but they like the little nonsencical stories i make in the run, they have fun for doing small things, like killing centaurs.
