Relaxed? Lol, well for some of you maybe but for those of us who have no hope of ever completing the snowball mayhem achievements, not so much. :/
How do you have no hope for these? I’m not trying to be condescending, but I got it done in an probably less than an hour. Is it glitched for some people?
Sanctum of Rall queued in all 3 BLs and a 2 hour wait for EB.
We’re doing good OP, thanks for asking!
Yeah… no. I left SoR weeks ago because it’s so inactive. (Like most worlds)
Are you kidding? SoR is super active. I never have trouble finding groups for whatever, and I always see people out in the world.
I like where this is headed.
Sure, there’s probably a bump in play for the holidays, but I’ve never had any trouble before that either…
Not trying to sound unsatisfied with the holiday – I had a great time with it before Christmas. I am just wondering if there is anything else to do for the holiday? It seems like I’ve done everything there is to do. I have 2 and 4/5ths pets crafted, all the skins I want (and a bunch I don’t), and all the achievements. I also bought the unbreakable bell.
It seems like Tixx runs don’t get me anything new. Is there anything else I can do for this holiday?
Ah, so i was left clicking (not using a controller), and I had no idea that right-clicking centered the camera with the movement! Thank you; I thought I was going crazy!
Oh goodness. I can’t imagine trying a jumping puzzle without this. Hopefully this will make things much easier for you!
Got this in about 20 minutes of trying. I’m guessing 1-2% is the percentage that cannot make, not the percent that can.
I think it was a mistake putting fractals in LA. There was alot of people in LA anyway, so with fractals you now always get put in overflow when visiting LA. Fractals would have been better placed in another major city or in a zone adjacent LA.
I think they did this so that cross-server groups can take advantage of the overflows.
If anything, it’s been better for me – made new friends in the fractals and even though they aren’t in my guilds or even on my server, they are on my friends list for future runs and activities. I never have trouble finding a group or doing anything that I want to do! Also, I love my new Ascended gear. As a super casual* player, I’ve been able to get to get to Fractal level 17, get a total of four Acsended rings – two Ascended rings infused and in use (with the good infusions, not the cheap vendor ones), nearly complete my Ascended back piece, make over 100g (spent a good amount on the infusions and unbreakable bell), and start getting my character (engineer) equipped with exotics.
I really, truly do not understand how people (who I assume play more than I do) are having so much trouble with things…
*EDIT: I define super casual as playing a couple hours every other or third night.

I’m an engineer. Does my opinion count?
I thought this thread was going to be about SWTOR.
Favorite: Mine.
Least favorite: Yours.
Another tip is to avoid killing Toxx for as long as possible (while keeping her out of the center, of course.) Have a couple people kite her while the rest of the team rebuilds their defenses.
I got the achievement on the third try. It can be done!
Not a bad idea!
We will be adjusting the “Toypocalypse Cancelled” achievement so that you will need to keep only one gift dolyak alive.
Oh come on.
Do we get anything for having done the achievement the right way? In a complete PUG I got this done in our first full run.
My group had some nice walls build. Then comes the big golem and destroys both the walls and 2 Dolyaks inside (who were at 75% health) in one go while we try to kill him
You’ll want to engage Toxx ASAP when he appears. Hit him at range, and always be away from the middle. He only got near the middle once for us.
I agree with this – I’d love to get a bit longer on the unbreakable bell as well. I can only get about 2/3rds of the way through O Holy Night before it drops.
Which is super annoying, because I’m often on my elementalist when it happens, and then I’m yelling “FEELIN’ HOT!” in the middle of my performance when it re-attunes me automagically.
It’s totally throwing off my performance.
I’m starting a new petition to add an ability to the bell where you can yell “FEELIN’ HOT!” whilst playing.
Yes. They were all random. I told them we’d get the achievement if they did just what I said, and they followed my orders …for the most part. A couple times it was frustrating to see snowmen when I was scrounging for snow to rebuild walls.
EDIT: I ended up calling out repairs to weapons as needed by designating north as 12 o’clock, and after that just typing out “repair weapon 3,” “repair wall 10,” etc.
(edited by Amos.8760)
The way we got the achievement (on my first full run) is as follows:
– Snow is used ONLY for wall building. No snowmen.
– Set up walls in between the pillars in the middle. Set them even with the OUTER edge of the pillars, so that melee hits cannot reach the Dolyaks. We set them up too close one time, and the ’yaks were getting hit through the walls. We were able to completely wall the area off with three walls in between each pillar, and about 6-7 in the large gap on the north side. (EDIT: Another viable method I am hearing is to place walls around the outer edge of the circle, but only at the ramps where they can get up. I haven’t tried this, so I can’t comment on it’s effectiveness, but it seems they would obscure catapult and ballista lines of sight.)
– When upgrading a wall, be sure to face the wall straight on when upgrading, because the wall will move perpendicular to you when you upgrade it. This is a blessing and a curse because you can either turn walls into place that were not set up well, or you can turn a wall sideways that was already well placed.
– Set up Ballistas/Catapults at regular intervals around the outer edge of the circle. Upgrade as needed.
– Do not upgrade walls until their health gets low. Then upgrading them will heal them as well.
– Ignore the mortars at the edge of the map. They require a person to control them and are slow and awkward.
– Have your team get rifles and shoot from inside/atop the walls at the enemy waves.
– Designate two people to always be on wall/snow duty. You can stockpile snow behind your walls by hitting the weapon switch button to drop the bundle. The other three people should always be fighting or building weapons.
– When fighting Toxx, everyone gets rifles and shoots from OUTSIDE the circle. Keep Toxx out of the middle!
Hope this helps some people out!

My first one I joined about halfway through and I used that round to get a handle on how everything worked. I promised the achievement to anyone who stayed through the next round if they promised to do what I said. They followed directions (for the most part), and we got Toypocalypse Cancelled on that run. Wasn’t difficult if you have a team that is working together. Which really makes me wonder why you can’t join as a group?

5/10 for Conflagrated, 9/10 for Qida
I have quite a list here – so feel free to only evaluate my main: a human engineer named Emeritus Flame. My guild from another game moved over here, and I was the guild leader and known as ‘Flame’ for short. So I had to keep Flame in my name somewhere. I added Emeritus, since I am the retired guild leader.
Other characters:
“Timshel”: Elementalist
“Blinking Henry”: Warrior
“Redemption’s Son”: Ranger
“Pretend You’re Alive”: Necro
As a goof the other day, I made a Norn warrior as close to Mr. T as I possibly could. I’ve since deleted him, but I named him “The Pitier of Fools”
(edited by Amos.8760)
I’ve seen the halfway pull quite a bit lately. It seems like they’ll get caught up if a blade of grass is out of place.
6/10. She looks surprised!

Opened literally ONE black lion chest during the Halloween event. It was the Scythe Staff Skin.
I literally cannot believe what I just read. This was an INTENDED change? Why in the world would I not be allowed to preview armor for an alt? Please change this back – it’s completely ridiculous.
It’s kind of funny though… The most popular weapons for most classes seem to be:
Warrior: Greatsword and Rifle
Guardian: Greatsword and Staff
Ranger: Greatsword and Shortbow
Thief: Shortbow and Dagger/Dagger
Engineer: Rifle
Necromancer: Staff and I dunno, but it’d be Something/Something
Mesmer: Staff and Greatsword
Elementalist: Staff or Dagger/DaggerSo few combos seem to dual-wield despite the lack of a second sigil. The base effects on the 2h weapons are a bit higher to make up for the lack of an off-hand weapon. Would a second sigil and other mathematical compensation be welcome? Of course. Necessary? Only for Engineer (because kits are going to be balanced around having access to two weapons.)
Those something/something necros are a kitten to deal with.
Just when I’m getting comfortable with a profession and starting to really enjoy it, boom, down comes a hammer that seems to take perverse pleasure in making me feel less capable and powerful after I put in much thought and effort to reach that.
I might be being unnecessarily cynical here, but I interpreted this as “every time I jump on the bandwagon and start exploiting a profession’s OP abilities, they come in and fix it.”
But then again I’m an engineer – who cares what I think :P
I think that was me, my team had 3 engineers, and I didn’t want to waste people’s time.
I call BS on this. There aren’t three engineers in the game.
I’ve only had time to try our air on my missthrower. Looking forward to trying a lot of others though!
This is my most successful thread ever lol.
In other news, I’m downloading normally now.
Good luck out there!
Glad to know it’s not just me!
I’ll wait it out then.
Been getting this while trying to patch. The first time I tried, it was downloading at 1KB/sec. Everything else on my computer works normally.
What’s up?
And what about weapon stats aplying to kits?
…Are grenades really that powerful!? They’ve been nerfed twice now.
Were our other kits SO weak that they did not also require a damage reduction to compensate for Sigils?
Yes and yes.
And what about weapon stats aplying to kits?
They said it’s coming. It’s one of a whole two dev posts in our forums – didn’t you read it?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/Generell-questions-about-kits-sigils/first
Thank goodness. Now I don’t feel like I have to use a kit I don’t particularly like.
Sigil of Air plus Missthrower.
If you were right for engineer, you wouldn’t have made this thread :P
Engineers just know who they are. It’s in their blood.
Yep, ascended gear & fractals was a step in the wrong direction for many of us.
Unfortunately, ANet have already stated it’s here to stay.
I decided after that patch that ANet/NSoft don’t deserve my financial support anymore. It’s really the only way to show you’re not happy. Vote with your wallet.
It’s a step in between two existing tiers of gear. Why is this such a big deal?
I’m going to venture a guess that you are in the extreme minority. While I can see first person being useful for screenshots, I think it would be very difficult to maneuver and accurately jump while exploring. I don’t miss it at all.
Hi everyone. This is my submission to the contest!
Server: Northern Shiverpeaks.
Guild:Supply And Demand.Hope you all enjoy we put a LOT of work into it!
This one was awesome
Engineer is all you will ever need. Been playing one since BWE1 and have yet to get anything else past level 8.
Well ok, you can be a support elementalist, engi or guardian etc and do a lot of group healing.
But it’s not a dedicated healer, and will not keep alive dps who stand in fire etc.
Engineer will.
You can pump out 1500hp/sec if you try on an engi.
Ok, I’ll bite.
How is this done?
Elixir gun 5, Super Elixir, heals for about 400hp/sec base with no +healing. With Kit Refinement (10 points in tools tree) when you switch to Elixir Gun, you put down a Super Elixir.
The Super Elixir spawned by Kit Refinement stacks with the regular super elixir of the elixir gun. That’s 800hp/sec, again with no +healing.
Combined with the toolbelt skill of the elixir gun – 10 seconds of regeneration, (Which is about 170hp/sec)
That’s 970hp/sec.
Super Elixir scales very well with healing power. I’ve gone to the PVP room, and put on 1400 healing, and been able to heal for around 650+650+300 HP/sec with double elixir + regen.
That’s 1600 health/s for 10s. Now obviously unless you REALLY want to heal, that much healing power is a waste, but I think 1000hp/sec is a pretty kitten respectable number, and you can get that with <200 healing power.
Interesting. Doesn’t sound sustainable though. Maybe I’ll give it a go and see how it works!
Final note:
I’ve seen a lot of things in mmo forums, but I think this is the first retelling of a Biblical parable. Kudos.
I’m so glad you enjoyed, Amos. I did have to stretch the intention of said Biblical parable a good bit, but I really enjoyed the overall results.
It sounds like we both know the original story and it’s intention – and I don’t think you stretched it much at all. I think it applies very well here.
…the average amount of gold per hour…
This sort of thinking is probably what’s ruining the game for you. I’ve never once viewed any activity in that way. I think of it as: ‘Am I working towards something I want?’ and ‘Am I having fun?’
What’s to discuss? Sounds like your mind is made up.

How is this done?
The legendary rifle in its current skin is the worst implementation of “legendary” in game for an engineer. Ive toyed with the idea of getting It myself but as an engineer we hardly ever use a weapon. Hello give us a shotgun. And plus good engineers are swapping to use kits.
Now if arenanet lets the effects of the predator or quip carry over to our kits then it will be worth it. If not you will look cool holding it at least while looking for a res waypoint.
They stated they are planning on this for our class. I like the look of it, but you guys are right, it doesn’t really fit the abilities.
