I’m pretty much the only person the server who runs the Zho catacombs event.
Yeah, I have to kitten and moan just to get enough people for that chain. I pop down to see if it’s up (Laddron and his friends dead by the first champion in the ravine), then spend 10-15 minutes yelling for people across various map and guild chats to come help.
We finally got a group together for it last night, spent forever killing these champions, and I got a green and a couple blues – just like every other time.
Kitten – reading this thread, you’d think a laurel was something worth complaining over. I’d mail you one of mine if I could.
It’s one laurel.
Good grief.
So I logged into gw2 on my engi today after a few months break and my first venture back out to wvw … 3 seconds later i was dead. Am i missing something or new gear that i am un aware off ? My engi is in full TA rabid exotics and rampager jewelry….
I’m not 100% sure on your armor for WvW as I spend most of my time doing Tpvp, but I think you’re toughness and vitality is low.
Also your armor is all gold.

The dailies were fine….I just spent almost an hour trying to “dodge” my way to daily completion and I am only at 73% no matter how many mobs I fight and dodge. Its a pain in the kitten as of today. Dailies werent an issue so I am not sure why they made them more difficult.
How in the kitty-bloody-kitten-meow-meow does it take you an hour to dodge 15 attacks?! I got this done in a couple minutes, letting one NPC just cast at me in Orr. The only thing easier about the daily was crafting.
“It’s totally optional, therefore it’s perfectly acceptable for this aspect of game play to be released in a format that is unacceptable to other players who are offering perfectly valid complaints and bringing up reasonable restrictions to this content as it exists now.”, aka, “It’s optional therefore it’s okay for it to be subpar.”
Just because something includes part of the game you don’t like does not mean it’s subpar.
Why is encouraging people to change their playstyles a bad thing? Any part of the game should be fair game for a daily requirement. If you don’t want to, or don’t think it’s worth your effort, then don’t do it.
Really, any one part of the daily takes no more than a little bit of time to do.
Dodging took me less than a minute standing in front of a mob in Orr. Crafting took me about 30 seconds, and most of that was getting to a crafting station. Reviving took less than five minutes while I looked for NPCs to revive. Underwater kills took about ten minutes because of the number of kills you had to get.
I don’t think people who are complaining over this understand how silly and entitled they really sound. It’s really making you look bad.
I could outbump a centaur!
I would like to hear an explanation for this as well.
Personally, I don’t see any reason why any part of the game wouldn’t be fair game for a daily requirement. The complaints in this thread are unbelievable!
I notice a damage difference, i went to test in low level areas like queensdale where I would usually need 2 of the 1st skill of flamethrower to kill a mob, now it’s one for me. I don’t understand or see the turret buff though.
The buff on kits is for low-end damage. Our max didn’t go up all that much, but the minimums skyrocketed. Makes them better early. Which is cool.
The turret buff is an odd one. Essentially, when you place a turret, it has it’s own stats. Let’s use Healing Turret. It places regen on you, with 0 Compassion, and a level equal to your own. If you pick up of destroy the turret, the “player” who placed the buff no longer exists, so suddenly, the regen registers as a level 0 player with 0 Compassion. Thus, the regen ticks for 5 instead of the full equation of 5 + (1.5625 * Level) + (0.125 * Compassion) per second.
5 + (1.5625 * Level 0) + (0.125 * 0 Compassion) = 5 + (0) + (0) per second = Sad panda
So now we have full function to our turret buffs and conditions. This extends to Flame Turret, Rocket Turret, Net Turret, and Rifle Turret’s Overcharge. For the offensive turrets, it’s a small fix, but for the Healing turret, it’s HUGE McLARGESIZE.
What the kitten is compassion?! Did I miss something?
Sold all my tier 6 mats and bought Orichalcum Ore.
You should see the rate Moldy Bags are dropping in Orr.
Sorry folks, thought I was posting obvious sarcasm :P It was more a comment on the failure of the percentage estimator.
Totaled about 1GB for me
This one appears to be about 13 GB.
Basing that off the fact that my launcher switched from 0% to 1% downloaded at the 130 MB mark.
Plus, they stated the gear was in the game’s original plan and should have been released at launch. If it had been released at launch, you wouldn’t see half the whining about it as you do now. People inexplicably think that a tier of gear being added a little late is suddenly a gear treadmill.
Nope. The thing is – many of us grinded (even if not much) to get BiS items. They’ve run dungeons just for this, spent 40 gold to get full set of Divinity’s runes etc.
Now they need to get 40(+) gold again to get runes again.
I’ve done that several times, even after Ascended gear was introduced. Is the problem that you guys got a set of gear, and then thought you would never have to change that gear ever again? This sort of thinking is where I fail to understand most GW1 players (not saying you’re one). I never did play that game, and I don’t understand that mindset.
I just completed my January monthly so if the January update includes the achievement changes, does it mean I will lose out on the 10 crowns, or will I be retro actively compensated at least just for this month?
The January monthly achievement, regardless of when you complete it will not reward the new crown currency.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Will-existing-achievements-get-converted/page/2
I know that this doesn’t answer the OP’s question – more to respond to JayMack. Though I would think that if the monthly achievement does not count for the month in which they released the patch, then the daily achievement would not count for the day in which the released the patch.
I’m confused…are you agreeing with what I said, or have you read what I’ve said wrong? Granted, I may have made my response a bit too ‘wordy’.
My post basically meant that if they can make sure January doesn’t count for Laurels even after the patch has happened, then I don’t see why they can’t make sure that today’s daily doesn’t count either.
I mean, I’m almost 99.9% sure that today’s daily won’t give you Laurels even if the patch is applied before reset. It’ll cause ANet extra work to retro-actively give people Laurels because I am 100% sure the playerbase are going to complain on this forum about it if people who did the daily late in the day got Laurels and they didn’t.
Was agreeing and adding credibility
Also mentioned it to give support to the idea that because this month won’t count, today’s probably won’t either.

I run fractals pretty casually, and I have 11 ascended rings (and enough pristines to buy two more), and I purchased and upgraded an ascended back piece. The stuff is stupidly easy to get. First off: Sorry for the grammatically incorrect title; I had to fit the thing into 45 characters.
I’d like to be able to change my account display name. I had no idea when I first signed up that this would follow me into the game, or that it would be my forum name. Is this feature coming anytime? I thought I saw a dev post about including it way back at launch, but that could be wishful remembering.
Can anyone give me some info on this?
Thanks!
I don’t remember hearing anything about plans to allow us to change that so far. I’m sure if it got suggested enough and they thought the effort would be worthwhile you might see this feature come about, but I haven’t heard of it being a proposed change.
Yeah, I thought someone brought it up along with changing your email (back when you couldn’t even do that), and I thought I remembered them saying email changing was coming very soon (and it did), and that account name change would be sometime after that, but it wasn’t as important.

Since party chat inexplicably disappears after being kicked from a group, I’m going to start taking a screenie of the group with all their names when I first enter.
I can’t remember the last time I heard anything about the engineer from any dev on any medium anywhere. Maybe BWE2?
Big update Monday. Answers to all this that I think you will like.
They are not nerfing an entire damage class. They said they would be looking at each profession and ability individually. We’ll see what that means on Monday. No reason to get bent out of shape over it until then.
I just need to vent. I put in a ticket before this thread hoping to get my personal story put back where it should be. I don’t even care about the rewards at this point. I just want the thing to be finished.
Saw one in Q-dale a couple days ago.
I don’t know much about this sort of thing – are rollbacks the only way to fix things sometimes, or were they just being lazy?
It’s up, and the personal story I just completed is now rolled back to Victory or Death. I’m so kitten right now…
I just spent two hours finding a group and suffering through the very poorly designed Arah story mode, then got disconnected like everyone else. Now I’m back at “Victory or Death” and need to do it all over again. I have none of the loot I got during the run, and my friend and I are majorly kittened off. I don’t want to put myself through this awful dungeon again. Is there anything Anet can do about this?

Again: Why the KITTENING KITTEN is vital information being relayed on third party sites and not on the KITTEN official page?

After a few resets it worked. May want to look in to it though!
After going in to the instance, we see Romke there with his crew, Trahearne magically behind us all of a sudden, but no one does anything. We sat this way, talking to all of them, but no dialogue comes up – only the generic NPC responses. We tried combat – nothing. We went out, back in, same deal. We tried with both of us ‘owning’ the instance, same thing.
Just gonna bump this so people see ahead of time.

I don’t see anything wrong with this idea.
Rare for a patch not to include a Mesmer nerf, so I’ll just wait for the confirmation of one ;p.

Roll an engineer, then come complain
Assuming you’re replying to me, yes I’m serious. If they want to make sure players see the world instead of skipping over all of it, why not make seeing the world a prerequisite before being able to use mounts?
I’ve not quoted your post, just in case you’d like to take this chance to edit it.
mounts for one are a stupid idea. why? because like wow they are glorified gold sinks that serve no real purpose other then for people to say “im better then you.” which you can do by dying your ascended gear black or white.
I dont need some dragon or fluffy cat in my way as I am walking through an epic LA scene. or in rata sum.
What they should do is take the ascended and exotic gear and spread it out over trophies like this. over achievements.
I never said mounts were a good idea. Just tossing some ideas around because this is was a civilized conversation. The last few times Anet has mentioned mounts, their word choice (which is all carefully reviewed before posting) leads me to believe mounts will be in the game at some point – or at the very least is something they refuse to rule out.
Also – neither ascended gear nor black/white dyes are tough to get. I play pretty casually and have all that (including 9 extra stupid rings taking up bank space). The game just throws rewards at you for playing it.
What are the odds on the trifecta?
I get the feeling that this thread didn’t turn out the way the OP wanted at allllll.

If they do add mounts, maybe it could only be unlocked for your account by doing world completion.
I don’t remember them ever claiming that world completion is a PVE achievement, or that a certain percentage of it would be PVE. The achievement is what it is and you just do it!
How many tiers does WoW have now? 16? 17?
No.
Anywhere from 1-2, depending on the time period of the expansion you are in. You see, once you level past 60, 70, 80, 85, there is no need to do those tiers. Once you hit max level, the first pieces you start getting are last raid’s quality. This is your first tier. Then you start working on the current tier in like 1 week after hitting max level, or a couple weeks if you play very casually. It’s really not as bad as you’d like it to be. I’d play a couple nights a week and have current endgame gear. Plus with transmogrification, you can make it look like whatever you want!
Like I said though, the thing I really miss is being part of a team.
I agree, although most GW1 players won’t. I do miss the drive to get better gear, and the teamwork needed to raid. I really miss feeling a part of a team like I felt in WoW.
Luckily for you, there’s a convenient list of MMOs that are heavily based on raiding that you can play instead of GW2.
How considerate. Although I’m well aware of the various MMOs on the market, I think I’ve found the one I want to play. Does that mean I can’t wish it had additional content and features?

I love doing dungeons. I run a power/crit rifle build with healing turret, flamethrower*, toolkit*, elixir R, and supply drop (what else?).
*In certain situations, I swap either of these for grenade kit or elixir C.
I don’t pull any extra aggro, I get downed a lot less than the rest of the team, and can revive them remotely in any situation with a toss of the R. Ignoring my grenade and C options, I still have a snare, two knockbacks, a blind, a slow, a pull, a block, a stun breaker, a chill and cripple remover, an aoe heal, an aoe regen, and an aoe condition removal/remote revive. I can provide a fire field, light field and water field. I can finish with projectile, blast, or leap. I can apply vulnerability (in several ways), bleed, burn, cripple, blindness, and confusion. Any of the above at any time (long as they’re not on CD) without a big cooldown for switching kits.
I feel like our damage is a little behind, but not to the point where I’m a liability to my group. I’ve cleared most dungeons, and am currently at fractal 21 (and counting).
I forgot to get the UI out of the way, but here’s my friend and I on beach patrol. With flamethrowers.
