I got a Logitech G500 for like $70 with some gift card – and I LOVES ITTTT.

There are hours upon hours of content that sticks to the original aesthetic and feel of the game. When you add in content, it doesn’t detract from the original content. If this content isn’t up your alley, then don’t play it.
I like that ANet is doing something fresh and different.
Also, please don’t be ageist. Age does not necessitate a person’s interests.
Not doing it does not solve anything. Simply seeing other people with this sort of stuff ruins the atmosphere of the game. I can not participate in that stuff from now til the game shuts down, but someone running by with an 8 bit skin or a goofy backpack ruins the feel of the world. You can’t simply not do the content or ignore the items. How would you feel if, in the next Hobbit movie, one of the dwarves was just an 8 bit cartoon? Would you just not look at him and it would be ok?
I’m all for funny stuff and minigames and holiday events, but let’s keep them consistent with the world we are in!
It was an Asuran invention. Done.
You could use that excuse to put anything in the game. Why not just say a wizard did it?
Doesn’t make it any less consistent. Asides, the only thing we’ll see out of it are new skins, and with that said we still have people walking around with candy canes and toy rifles. I think that’s more “immersion breaking” than this (not that it is).
That’s exactly my point. Toy skins are a subset of the stuff that doesn’t feel like it fits into a game like this. It’s impossible to list everything.
Then what’s Tyria as you envision? Certainly it isn’t a medieval fantasy.
Oh, I’m not a writer. I imagine it would be something a little more coherent though.
It’s silly how a world that has not evolved past swords as weaponry has a virtual reality system that our own world has yet to invent.
It’s evolved past swords. You’ve got gunpowder of some sort, steam power, complex architectural building, and lighter-than-air based airships. That’s without looking towards what the asura were cranking out over two centuries ago.
Exactly my point – how come we are still using swords when people have invented teleportation, flight, and virtual reality? Do you really not see the problem here?

Asuran technology is magically inclined. Technically, you could say a wizard did it. Tyria is an extemely flexible setting.
Super Adventure Box is the personal project of one asura. Much like Gixx’s inventions and toys, the SAB is designed primarily for asura progeny (and the adults of the bookah races). The moment you step into the box itself, you enter into a virtual reality generator that presents you with an interactive world and gives you the tools with which to deal with that world. For those who enjoy the experience several souvenirs are available. All profits go to Moto.
It’s perfectly plausible within the lore. If it breaks your immersion… well, then you weren’t immersed in Tyria, but your own wishful imaginings of some generic medieval setting.
I think you are misunderstanding my original point. I completely agree with your post here, hence the reason for my lament that Tyria sounds more and more like a world that is not meant for me. I logged in to seriously play for the first time in a month, and didn’t find much more reason to keep coming back. It really seems like this is not the MMO I am looking for.

Yo dawg I heard you like virtual worlds
Since I already have a DPS warrior, I don’t really care much for DPS for my engineer as I would like to play a support role for a group. So let’s say I trait as what Saki Asakura suggested and go for rampager/carrion gear plus maybe dolyak runes for survivability, does that kinda kitten the condition I deal on pistols/bombs? Also playing engineer feels very technical which makes it hard to decide on an elite whereas the warrior is very straight forward >.<
Our only elite is Supply Crate.

+1 agree with the OP. This isn’t what I had in mind for my next MMO. I appreciate the hard work put in to this, but it really doesn’t belong. I started feeling this way back in beta with the baseball hat and sunglasses, a little more with backpacks, and now this…
Thats really sad to hear for us engies, but understandable :/
Though maybe next time you can work on pistols or rifles first instead of say..shields?Although… that rises a question of what kind of bullets would a 8-bit themed gun fire. I don’t even know if they have the tech to change weapon projectiles based on skin, presumably yes since unicorn bow is a thing.
No one can defeat the quad laser.

I think your girlfriend is taking up too much time so
tell her to leave.
Now with her out of the way you have more time to play GW2
Congratulations.
This post delivers. Telling her to leave gains you time to achieve actually important things in life like a legendary weapon.
You are on a good track already: instead of sleeping with your girlfriend you actually rise from the bed to get your nightly 2-3 hours of grind. It’s hard for me to be understand how can you be unmotivated, though. After all, who wouldn’t want to work for additional 2-3hours in the game at night (for something actually meaningful and lasting) when the other option is being all cuddly with your gf.
Sleeping =/= cuddling or sexy time.
Had to quote Rizzy to see what would happen.
Is his post just blank to anyone else?
Edit – it quoted blank too, even though I could see the text when making my post. He said “ kitten straight its not gw without cantha”
WoW has the option to turn off titles. You anti-title people all want the game to be a WoW clone!
Delete your necro and you should be fine. The rest are Anet-approved professions.
lol black lion chests
Would be awesome if a red came in here and told us all the real reason for the suspension.
Patch day is almost with us again, so enjoy your current engineer builds before they get ineptly nerfed in the scorched earth approach the devs take to targeting some random facet of engineer that actually works okay and carpet bombing the entire skillset it resides in from orbit.
100nades is almost definitely going to be nuked into the dust of history, because no engineer should be allowed to burst anything like other classes, e.g. thief, even if it’s massively more complex to operate and has far less survivability. All because one time at band camp a dev’s second cousin saw a photo-shopped picture of 24k damage. You’d need a planetary alignment to get that against an upscaled level 7 player in WvW. Theif, mes, warrior would probably burst far harder in same circumstances. With the devs past record for maladriot engineer changes that are far more deadly cures than the disease ever was, let’s hope they don’t break grenade kit in the process.
Slick shoes and elixir R were also mentioned at the same time as 100nades, so inept heavyhanded nerfs may be coming for the few people who use those.
Kit refinement will be getting another pass. Considering how asinine the last kit refinement change was, the equivalent of curing a patients headache by shooting them in the forehead with a high caliber pistol, multikitters have every right to be be scared of this change.
On the plus side, they have some awesome boosts in store for us. e.g. thumper turrets will now be able to cripple, so expect all 5 people who use thumper turret to be overjoyed.
I think a warrior might be more your speed.
I’ll say it again: There is no such thing as stealing from a guild bank as far as ArenaNet is concerned. If someone took something from the guild bank it’s because the guild leaders gave them permission to do so – whether intentionally or not.
As far as a guild is concerned, they can place their own rules on the guild bank, and then enforce those rules as they see fit. The worst thing they can do to a player is to remove them from the guild though. That’s the limit of their authority. ArenaNet will not enforce an individual guild’s rules.
If someone has a shared account in the bank with lets say the husband/wife and there is 100k in the account. Is it perfectly fine for the other half to take it all out and just leave the country never to be seen again?
From a legal standpoint, yes. The husband or wife has every right to take everything out of the bank account and use it however they like.
It should not be a bannable offense. The guild is in complete control over who has access to the the guild bank. The dinner party analogy is flawed. Here is a better one: Would you put someone on your real life bank account that you just met? Would you allow someone access to your real life bank account that you don’t trust?
In other words, if you give someone the opportunity to misbehave or commit a crime he is entitled to do so?
How is it a crime when someone gives you access to the money?
Exactly. If someone’s name is on a bank account, they are perfectly able to drain the account and never talk to you again.
Being ABLE to do something does NOT mean you should do it.
I never said you should do it – in fact if you read my posts, I said it was scummy. All I’m saying is that it is not stealing, and the person cannot be punished for it. There are a lot of kitten moves out there that are perfectly legal.
So, if I invite a friend to my house, and i leave my wallet on the table for a little while, its perfectly legal for him to take it? It wouldnt be stealing? Someone is let into a bank vault to check on their deposit box and it turns out that there is an unlocked deposit box close to it, is it perfectly legal for them to take all the stuff from it?
Do you really not see how these are completely different situations from the topic of the thread? And how one is legal and the others are not?
I think the difficulty of the world bosses is as good as their loot. It’s an easy and uninteresting fight for some cheap and uninteresting loot.
They are probably the Skelk’s lunch.

As scummy as it is, taking everything from a guild bank and leaving is not stealing. If you have access to them, then the owner of those items gave you permission to take them if you want.
It’s reminiscent of older video games like Myst
How dare you speak such blasphemy.
I’d play it, but I’m an engineer and we own underwater.
I think most people don’t want lower CDs on turrets in order to move them, they want lower CDs so they can replace them when they inevitably and quickly die. I would hate turrets that follow me around – that’s not what they’re about. If they are to be a part of a fight from start to finish, like minions, pets, or other profession’s abilities, they need to either have high health and die when the engineer does, or have a shorter CD (maybe the countdown starts upon deployment and not destruction?), or something to that effect. As they are right now, I can’t justify using up a utility slot for a turret that gets off one or two hits, then dies and I can’t use it again for the rest of the fight.
Honestly, if this was a teaser, it should have been rolled out quietly. No announcement. Then the players would be going nuts trying to figure out what it all means before getting hit with the real content.
Agreed.
Bobby – first off let me say THANK YOU for being brave and talking to us in this thread. This is the sort of communication forum goers crave – even if it’s not what we want to hear.
I hadn’t realized it until Azureai said it – if these changes had been unannounced like the Lost Shores teasers, you can bet I’d have been in-game quite a bit running around trying to find out what’s going on. During Lost Shores I was translating signs, pouring buckets of water on whales and talking excitedly with LA chat about what might be going on. In Living Story, I know EXACTLY what’s supposed to be going on, but I don’t see any of it. I had no idea these first two months were supposed to be teasers. I thought they were content and I had no desire to do them. The way I was finding out about the story was checking my achievement window, googling how to do it, then going out and grinding it out. I haven’t logged in for over a week for the first time since launch.
It sounds like you agree with me – teasers should be unannounced, player-discovered changes to the world that leave us asking questions. There should be just enough information to keep us interested, and just enough NPC intrusion into our gameplay to ensure that we know something is going on, even if we don’t care to pursue it right that second. Finding that balance is an art form that is up to your team to master. If you can pull that off, it will put back some excitement back in the game for me. I really look forward to playing this game again.
Thanks again!

So – I’m pretty disappointed in the video. I skipped to the engineer part, so I don’t know if he was this awkward throughout the rest of the video. His speech patterns and body language are a dead giveaway – I’ve acted like this several times in my life, and every time it’s been one of two scenarios:
- Someone has asked me a question in a meeting or in a class that I should know the answer to and I don’t so I make up some vague things to sound competent.
– I am trying hard to pacify someone to whom I’m lying.
Devs, I sincerely apologize if this is not the case, but that’s what it looks like to me.
You said you’d like to make turrets more viable. I’d be a lot more willing to use them if they’d stick around a while and not be killed off by splash damage or AOE. I can’t justify using them in their current condition. If they are supposed to be a constant presence on the battlefield (or at least a hard to remove one), either give them a ton of health and then they die when the engineer dies, or reduce their cooldown significantly so that I can place them when they inevitably die. Maybe have that cooldown start upon placement instead of their destruction. You could even increase the heal from toolkit – I don’t mind maintaining them if they are worth having.

ANET YOU RUINED THE BEST WEAPON IN THE GAME
THANKS
So if all player can have access to an item, is it ruined? Nice to know
Yes, actually. Rareness and uniqueness are things that people strive for in an MMO. Everyone wanted to be THE PERSON who found Final Rest, not one of thousands.
I always put on my riding gear before going out for a walk.
There was a loooong post a while back with people speculating about mounts because of the frost and flame concept art. Gaile came in an with no uncertainty squashed the idea. There arent mounts, they arent considering mounts, there will never be mounts. Especially ponies (for those that remember the thread I am talking about).
I think these town clothes are just an amazing way of Anet giving us something neat…while screwing with A LOT of people.
Wrong.
They said they are not going to be implementing mounts during the Frost and Flame story arc.
It won’t let me quote it directly, so here’s the link:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Incoming-Mounts/first#post1265016
Says:
Hello, I’m here to crush your dreams.
There will be no mounts coming with the Flame and Frost story arc.
Also, to address further speculation we’ve seen about the concept art for Flame and Frost (and what it may portend): there will be no Cantha and no dragons coming with the Flame and Frost story arc, either.
Thank you.

@critickitten
You are not going to get through to these guys. You are being logical. There is so much more to this other than the significant increase in stats. It’s about the breach of trust on many levels. The signs of what will come in the future. I appreciate your post sir. You make sound points and just wanted to let you know that some of us are listening to what sense you are making.
What breach of trust are you talking about? I hear this all the time, and I don’t see anywhere that Anet has gone against something they’ve previously said. All I see are perceived slights, mostly by GW1 players.
Stop pretending like it matters.
It does. I’ve shown that the difference is statistically significant.
You, on the other hand, have yet to prove how it doesn’t, beyond your own assertions that it doesn’t.
In any sort of formal debate, the guy who actually has numbers tends to be the one who “wins”. So you may wish to provide some actual evidence to back your claims now, if you please.
You can’t argue with this guy, Aristio.
Well, he can’t, but that’s because he can’t put together a coherent and evidence-backed argument.
He’s determined to be upset about the game, and insists on doing it all over the forums. I personally find it hilarious the way people think they have been betrayed/lied to/bait and switched with this game. You just have to hope that these sorts will eventually wear themselves out or go back to the GW1 they love so much.
Yeah, I’m totally determined to be mad about the game that I still play on a regular basis. Because I hate it so much that I dedicate hours of my time to it every single day and….oh. Wait. That’s a preposterous argument, isn’t it? Whoops.
I do wish that people such as yourself would actually stop and think for a moment about why I’m complaining so much. Because if I was complaining simply because I hated the game, I would have just left the game months ago.
I missed the part where I said you hate the game. You are mad about it though – we can all see your post history. In fact, you’re so argumentative and upset about stuff all the time, that yours is one of a few forum names I know from memory because of it. I look over your post history and I can’t say I agree with much, if any, of it. Anyways – I’m gonna go enjoy the process of getting some more ascended gear. You all have fun arguing. Go ahead and have the last word, cause I’m gonna go play.
It’s not a problem and never will be. 13% is not something to care about in a game like this in my opinion.
Fixed it for you.

I did them without help from the internet. It says to talk to the refugees and they tell you what they are missing and where they are from. I also recall there being a character there telling you that they probably walked off the path and the things could be buried. My husband and I walked outside the paths but the general areas and found them together fairly easily. I think they have multiple spawn points.. but not really hard to locate- without the internet help.
Glad to hear you had such an easy time of it! Fact is, I walked up and down the path probably ten times over 2-3 different days and never saw anything. Even after resorting to the wiki, I checked the places it suggested (well away from the path), and they weren’t even there either…
There are plenty of resources on the internet showing possible spawn locations.
Do you not see the problem here?
You are unable to use a search engine? Not my problem.
I do believe his problem is that there isn’t enough information in game to lead to the objects, but we would all like to thank you for your valuable and not at all negative input.
Right on. I don’t want to have to leave the game to “cheat” by looking at other sites. I want to search and discover on my own, but looking over an entire zone for a small item is a bit much. I used to do this in WoW and it all but ruined the game for me. I got so used to using wowhead and wowwiki that I’d just automatically go there for info instead of trying it on my own. In GW2, I always try and use only in-game resources if I can help it. In this case, it seems like it’s either “cheat” using other resources and other people’s work, or spend forever walking the zone.
All you need to know is that they spawn in the general area around invasion dynamic events. Those are easy to find, so just look around the area for sparkles.
I found the one in diessa no problem by just checking for sparkles around a portal event I just cleared, and the same for the mug not too long earlier. They’re not directly ON the event, you have to look around a little. If I was just clearing the event and not looking for either of them I would definitely have missed them.
What I liked about the one in diessa was that there were a lot of random planks in the woods with sparkles trolling me. Then there was the object in those same woods which was a nice surprise.
This is helpful – thanks! I’ve been to a few of these events and I did look around, but didn’t find anything. I’ll keep at it. I wish the game would imply this somehow – from game information only it could be anywhere in the zone.
There are plenty of resources on the internet showing possible spawn locations.
Do you not see the problem here?
EPIC BREAKTHROUGH:
Went to Lion’s Arch and after getting zilch from the heralds again, I talked to refugees there and found out I was looking for a beer goblet in – you guessed it – Wayfarer Foothills. He says nothing about where he’d been, not narrowing it down or anything. Guess I’ll continue to randomly walk across the entire zone looking for this thing.
Hopefully I’m missing something here – are we really expected to walk an entire zone looking for these things? So far I’ve:
- Walked the refugee path five times (not counting fixing signs weeks ago), looking around and talking to refugees, and found nothing.
– Re-read my mail from Logan, directing me to either Hoelbrak or Black Citadel.
– Went to Hoelbrak, talked to the Herald, who sent me to the refugee camp.
– Talked to Refugee Coordinator, who had absolutely no information on what was going on (that I didn’t already know).
– Talked to every refugee that I could, none of whom had any useful information.
– Gave in and went to the wiki (I hate doing this, but I’m out of options), it lists several spots on the map to check.
– Checked every spot, found nothing in any of them.
Are the possessions currently in the game and working properly? Hopefully I’m not wasting my time here! Are there some other NPCs I should be talking to in order to get more information? Is this all we have to go on, and we’re expected to just walk a zone for hours on end looking for these things? I’ve had no clues from my mail or any NPCs as to where or what I should be looking for, aside from “refugee possessions” and “Wayfarer Foothills”.
Someone help me out here!
Has no news or anything on it, that’s why. They’re not going to get rid of their news/ad launcher and go back to this.
Isn’t that just an unnecessary step between the launcher and playing?
Patch notes are to convey changes being made to the game. Why wouldn’t you expect this sort of thing to be in patch notes? This is completely sufficient.
lol – OP got owned in this thread. It sure doesn’t make me want to WvW. You all have stated it pretty well: none of my friends do it, I don’t fully understand how it works, I don’t care about the buffs, I’m not going to pay repair bills for something I don’t care about, there is no progression, and I don’t feel like I matter or that anything I do in there has any significance on anything.
I wasn’t sure where to put this – I didn’t want to bother the bug support forums and take time away from people with legitimate issues. I have found a box or chest with what appears to be New Krytan writing on it. Now with most of the New Krytan in the game, we are able to translate it, but this appears to not be legible, and there seems to be no way to get a clear view of it. My suggestion is to make the writing clearer – or if a dev can comment or PM me with a clearer version of the writing, that would be outstanding! It looks like it’s meant for someone to read and translate it, but it’s just not clear enough.
Here is where I am talking about:
the little cave with a candle, shovel, and box just above the fractal portal area in Lion’s Arch. The box has the writing on it.
