I hit 80 months ago, haven’t run out of stuff to do yetMost of the stuff you said there, i can’t consider it end-game, i consider it completing 100% a game, thats something you do on your playstation game for the max level difficulty or something, not in a mmorpg, i can’t consider getting all achivements, titles or collecting whatever is there to be collected endgame.
Collecting all pets or getting all crafting disciplines to 8, i consider it as grinding, and if i am playing a game to grind, i prefer to grind it for gear, not for mini pets collection.
Nothing about farming gold to get max level discpline is fun, you do it to get the proffesions you want and think are needed and thats it.
See, just cause World of Pandagrindcraft was your first MMO does NOT mean it’s the way MMOs have to be. They were different before and there have been different ones ever since. You don’t like it? Leave. No need for more wowbabby blabber anywhere outside Pandumpia.
serious question, trying to decide on an alt lol and frenzy + hundred blades seems super awesome
was wondering if any other professions have stuff as fun as that?
Mesmer Decoy and laughing at you for playing a kitten build. Just like heartseeker spammers. You should be punished for even speccing like this, anyway.
I don’t want people here who can’t afford WoW but want to be the same bottom-feeding scum. So no, keep up the model and keep the shop as much out of the game as possible.
- Guilds - To me it seems nonsensical that there is a separate influence pool for each world. Guild members are members of the guild no matter which world they’re playing on. It appears that the only reason for that is wvw, since it doesn’t seem right to allow a guild to accrue wvw guild bonuses on one world and apply them to other worlds.
- WvW bonuses - I don’t understand why pve players should be awarded/deprived of world bonuses based on the success of other people. This also causes the population to congregate in high ranking servers, leaving other servers somewhat emptier.
I agree on those parts. Shortsighted “planning” ANet did there. Or maybe no planning at all. You can’t even manage your guild sections on other realms.
Upper middle class.
Not as boring, bland and useless as in WoW clones, but also not the EQ2/FFXI type. How so?
You don’t even farm for materials, you farm for gold to buy the materials; you can do it all without ever leaving Lion’s Arch.
That’s as “boring, bland and useless” as in so many other MMOs. In fact, I think even WoW had a more involved crafting system, at least with regards to certain pieces, let alone some of the endgame weapons.
I never played EQ2/FFXI, so I can’t comment on them, but my reference is Asheron’s Call, where the spell component system was a more interesting use of what amount to crafting mats.
In WoW, you don’t need or use any of the items you create until max level. Then it will be two items at maximum that will last for a few runs in any raid.
See, if you don’t even gather yourself, but just buy and craft the bar instead of making items, looking for recipes from karma vendors or special discoveries, it’s not the system’s fault. I might as well just kill the same mob over and over again and then say there’s only one type of enemy in this game and all you do is grind this single type.
But the crafting? It’s the same mundane crafting I see in every other MMO; nothing about it is interesting.
Upper middle class.

You will be able to transfer once it opens up, you have to wait 7 days between transfers but not between joining and your first transfer.
As for when it opens up it’s hard to say. It’s based on the number of accounts with that server selected as their home – not the number of players currently online. So a space only opens up when someone transfers out (or possibly is inactive for a long time). It’s hard to know when that happens but I’ve heard that whenever WvW resets is a good time because a lot of people will change servers to be on one that’s winning that week.
Since servers switched from High to full several times a day while transfer wasn’t even possible after launch, I’d say it depends on whether they increase the player count on that server, which is not a fixed number.
7 days is the current cooldown, I don’t know if that applies to freshly-chosen home servers as well, you might give it a try or wait until late night to choose if it’s not full then.
Most people claim they played GW1 “since beta” or w/e as usual, actually they’ve never seen much of it before the second add-on, I guess.
GW2 is not much less in terms of content than GW1 vanilla was, just shifted.
We’ll see how fast they increase the game size and how much of it will remain untouched of NCSofts greed.
I’m leveling a third character now and I don’t see zones being overrun by enemies.
why can’t they put all the crafting spaces and TP in HoM!????????????? I want to buy stuff of off TP for my crafting and not run across the whole city for it. Make HoM useful instead of a useless zone i visited months ago because there’s nothing to do in it.
Maybe because they didn’t want you to only zone in and out of your HoM and not ever appear in the cities?
uhm i thought that once you create a character in a world it becomes permanently stuck there.
You’re uninformed then. Search the forums for further information on world changing or how to play together if not on the same server.
You don’t want to do this, don’t want to do that, and I don’t see what’s keeping you.
What other games that got a one-time fee keep you busy months long without making content for yourself?
Create character at night.
Switch servers.
There are no queues.
how could a pure melee class have a pistol….
How could any class in a game that hates any melee build not have long range skills? .3
I dont get why the hate for automated lfg…
Automated lfg >> map chat clogged with lfg
automated lfg lets people find group while anywhere so LA not perpetually clogged to overflow
automated lfg does not prevent friends from grouping on their own or forming “leet” teams (rolls eyes).
Poor boi.
A simple lfg board would do the trick without putting you into groups of people you dislike, or groups of 4 people that just need someone to kick right before the kill.
Automation changes dungeons into chores with annoying people you better not talk to cause it might risk losing teh phat lootz.
http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/12/19/where-guild-wars-2-goes-wrong/
I think this is an excellent basis for the foundational problems with the game. Try and read it objectively and see if you agree.
Half way crappy.
If you need someone to point you to the next area even if it has levels written on it, you’re outright dumb.
If you don’t manage to craft, you’re dumb as well. There’s lots of things to complain about, but half of what this article covers is a themepark crybabby that can’t ever use his own head when playing.
Well, automated LFG and I’m gone.
Whenver I store collectibles, minis disappear. Invis bags are not an option as they will destroy any inventory management due to silly automatism.
Vanity only, no mounting time, no speed bonus, no actual effect and it might work.
But this game needs other things done.
While I agree with seeing the mail sent, the option to withdrawal the message isn’t a great one.
Yes, I understand he lost the items, but just like in real life. You CAN’T unsend email you send. Once it is going, whether you type the address correct or not it is sent.
Good rule of thumb to doublecheck your address / name you are sending the message to.
Uhm….sorry, but in Outlook, you can recall an item if you do it before the other person opens it.
This message was brought to you by a Kitten with a Keyboard
Not sure if… oh, well.
OT: I’d like to see sent messages or conversation history as well as more than a handful of mails.
Am I really seeing this?
Two months ago:
“Orr sucks I hate Orr! Terrible place. So many Risen ugh!”Present day:
“I miss Orr, the content is good with multiple people, where did the game I love go??”
Did anyone really say he loved Orr, or was it rather “I loved seeing people around, even in THAT zone, back then, rather than spamming lfgs in the ever-crowded LA, like it had needed that plus in attention” a.k.a. does ANet really know what they’re doing or do they shelve out their ideas mindless to fulfill some content planning?
You’ll still be playing this game even though you are saying that you are leaving, i’ve seen this so many times.
I used to play much more than now, and that patch did it’s part to it.
As long as I see people around, it has a certain feel of MMO to it.
But as they resorted to putting the most rewarding content -against the playerbase- into the most crowded city, well – it’s their fault the game feels a lot emptier.
1. Anet said before that they didn’t like how they introduced Ascended gear. They’re working on making ascended gear more than just a fractal grind. I can’t find the actual post, but what was said was something along the lines of “We don’t want people only doing Fractals to obtain Ascended”.
If only it was so easy to believe, but that Whiteside guy fked up big time.
Btw. it’s not one patch, it’s being shortsighted or not. They won’t make such an effort without leaving trails in the game, consider them scars, like many, or not.
Yeah, cause Journey is inferior to CoD and Mass Effect is better than Guild Wars 2.
Epic comparison. But we’re all just trolls if we don’t stick GW2 up our buttholes.
it’s been 3 months!
I was falling through the map and dying of the fall damage a full 3 YEARS into wow.
Give em a break! They’re working on it!
Shhhh, let them leave.
It’ll just mean that those of us who aren’t absurdly fickle enough to quit over a single poor patch will have less complainers to deal with in the long run, and they’ll be off on some other internet forum ranting about how GW2 is still “dying” for years to come. Sounds like a win to me.
How often have you seen a patch that restored a previous state?
Irrelevant question, really.
Why? Because those people last patch said they were quitting no matter what, right? So why would they come back?
Why, the only reason that such a person might come back after a patch was rolled back is….if they were being absurdly fickle in the first place, I imagine.
You say it’s ONE patch, but actually, it’s a path that’s been chosen and any coming patch will walk along further, so if there’s no rollback, it’s gonna be an undefined number of patches. Why look down on a player that doesn’t swallow whatever he gets stuffed with, out of whichever hole it comes, but resists and makes his point? He paid for the game in a certain state, not for a 180° turn to get cashcowed sooner or later.
This is the problem of not having real data to work with. Without meters then we can’t work up spreadsheets and such to show class performance. For all you know you might be doing 75% less damage then your average warrior but just not know it as we have no data points to work with.
A game that hides that kind of data leads to more elitism not less.
Not really. If I see this data, it’s about 3% DPS if you get kicked or not.
Just see games that have it and you know how people handle such situations. No one is going to improve. Just google builds and repeat what you see on youtube.
In what way is this going to improve anything for anyone?
I don’t know if I do less damage than someone else. I know I can do an encounter, so I did my share. If you want DPS meters to rule out any buff/debuff builds, go ahead, play WoW.

sheug I don’t have any parsers, but nobody complained.
Noone has any parsers. That’s why no one complains. GW2 need some dps-meters, so people could see all the difference between professions.
But really, do you like to be carried?
The game needs an instant ignore for elitism and dps meter fusterclucks. It works or it doesn’t, if it doesn’t it’s your fault, no one elses.
Being one shot is never acceptible no matter what build you are using. This would be true even if there were no death penalty and is even more true when there is a death penalty. And it would be true even if the ability was avoidable and you chose not to avoid it.
The reasoning is 2 fold:
1) A mob shouldn’t be designed to do to a player what a player wouldn’t have agreed to if they were part of the team designing that mob
2) A mob shouldn’t be able to do something to a player that a player could not do back to that mob, however it is ok for a player to be able to do something to the mob that the mob couldn’t do to the player. Between a player who actually existed and had to work for their level and a mob that doesn’t really exist and did not have to do any work to get the stats it has, the benefit should always go to the one who had to actually put in work. This game would exist of 100% glass cannon max dmg players with this philosophy. Giving up the trinity does not mean giving up diversity, it just offers more options.
So it should be about your build, the skills you chose for the fight, not your items, but since ANet was sold to Blizzard it seems they’ll just leave it to you grinding ascended epix.
Development went good, I guess they fired most of the staff and replaced them with ricers that had 30 days to read a book about making games?
I don’t think so, cause you don’t need to grind fractals for Karma and you can’t buy it in the shop.
Don’t worry, Ascended gear will fill the gap, lol.
Won’t reward them for not caring at all, not living up to their promises but instead cluttering the game with utter BS.
MMORPG nowadays IS going for the largest city and spamming “LFGrind”, so GW2 is an MMO, fact.
if that’s happening, it means you are not specced or geared for enough vitality or toughness to survive a single hit.
So we need to gear properly on level 49 now, yes?
Sorry, onehits are silly unless you’re warned and can dodge or counter them.
Saw that in Lion’s Arch. Asked if they had one. Got this in response:
“not taking worthless classes. sorry”
See the problem with your so called class balance?
Not the balance. Ppl cant into brains. I’ve never even cared to play nade engineer for a longer time, I always got along pretty fine. WoW elitist hipster kids just cant but replay youtube guides, ignore those people to rid this game of a pest it does not need and all will be fine.
No, not active. ANet living up to their standards.
They want you to grind fractals. It’s obvious.
Move on to another dungeon grinder, there are some with actually rewarding encounters.
Investigation process?!
What a waste of time and resources…You don’t know enough about how they spend their time or resources to make that call.
90% cash shop, 10% making blatantly false posts about the state of the game to justify their poor decisions.
I’m not sure if you guys realize that WoW had no dungeon finder until about 2 years after release and even then all it was was essentially the LFG system that GW2 has in place. Additionally, if anyone d/c’ed/left a dungeon in WoW during the beginning of it’s lifetime, it was immensely hard to replace that person and progress without that person due to a low playerbase in each server individually.
And still, players managed to find groups for dungeons that took 2-5 hours.
So why would this game need an automated system? In every game that has it, dungeons started to suck just because of the people.
So ANet managed to dump all the “old” content in a single patch while creating a selfrecycling new content that locks out players in lightspeed.
Gratz to making another WoW clone there.
Well, the tooltip clearly states that it’s a unique item so you knew if before you bought the second one.
There is nothing in the game that says anything about the features of unique items.
Use your brains. Google what you don’t know. Hell, who teaches you kids breathing nowadays?
I don’t get this topic. There are no server types.
There’s an lfg flag, they just need to add categories.
Pls no silly random dungeon finder, seriously, get friends.
So they trashed PvE and PvP in just one update. Really, good job ANet. Next time, write it on the packaging so we don’t accidentally buy your games.
Thought we got rid of this bug a few weeks ago.
It’s not jealousy, it’s being locked out from content because you don’t do exactly this or that or wear this or that item.
Except that ANET said that future content will require Ascended gear and they are going to expand this system. So if you want to experience that new content, you better have agony resist/offense. Chances are, all new dungeons will be Agony based.
This.
What we see is the first step of many in the ultimate downfall of this game.
