So when the patch came, my guild leveled up and somehow got 2 levels instead of one (the bug). So myself and some others deposited materials for one of the next upgrades that became available.

Then came the hotfix Fixed a bug that errantly displayed guilds as one level higher than they were.

So okay, that was fixed.

But now, suddenly all the materials which were deposited for this “one level higher” upgrade have disappeared from the treasury . I checked my bank and the materials i donated were Not there. They have just gone poof completely. (And no, they were not used on anything else, as they were specific to this upgrade). The upgrade panel says 0/x again.
Before the hotfix, the treasury showed all the materials and values quickly (e.g. 200/200)

Idk, getting ascended rings are easy from 1-20 fractals and you can get an ascended necklace for like 30g (Vial of Salt). If you want, you can buy the gold to get one of the MF Ascended backpacks and get ascended trinkets from logging on a couple hours when your guild is doing guild missions. Thats like 30 AR right there without any armor.

You can attune the rings without needed any condensed essence and slap a couple 9-11 agony infusions in them for cheap.

And then theres the AR potion from the vendor and mistlock singularities thats practically enough to do up to level 50 fractals. Theres also always the chance to get infused rings from the level 21-50 dailies, in that case you dont need any essence at all.

Probably easier and much cheaper to use Laurels to get specific ascended jewelry

I came back because of HoT and been playing every day since. It was a breeze of fresh air.
And i know several people who did so as well.

Like you i’m also hungry for some new story.. I just…need…to…know..what happens next.

Heck i’d be happy if they even released a new novel.

Also, i find it interesting that one of your timers is 07:35 while a parallel one is 06:55, because i also seem to come across this. Sometimes the bar appears at around 07:35 and sometimes at 6:55. That being said, sometimes the next bar appears at 04:35, and sometimes at 03:55

For me, HoT reignited my passion towards GW2, ive been playing almost every day since.
Before that, i only ever played from time to time, mostly to unlock the living world episodes…

Thank you, it’s still a work in progress. I’m trying to determine if there is a definite pattern as to when he does what.

So i thought i’d share a few pointers and observations i’ve made. As a commander trying to organize the event, i’m aiming to give people the general idea of what to expect.

1) Glider bombs (nr1). You basically can’t break the bar without having people use these. So it’s best to be ready at the launch pads.

2) The timing. This is it. This is the most important part, and people dont really seem to focus on it.
So, i have gathered data over several days already, and here’s what i have found:

-The Defiance bar lasts approx. 7 seconds.

- The first Defiance Bar seems to occur when the timer is at 14:13. This has been the case for basically every single fight i’ve had.

-The Defiance Bar seems to occur approx every 2 minutes after the first bar. However, this seems to slightly vary depending on the spawning time of the Healing Crystal Nodes.
Note , that it never seems to appear in less than 2 minutes, but sometimes in about 2,5min.

-The Defiance bar tends to occur approx. 10 seconds after the Crystal Nodes are destroyed (but still following the general idea of occurring every 2 minutes)
-Note however, that sometimes the Nodes and the Def. bar change positions. The bar will occur right before the nodes. So still, keep an eye on that timer. And his bar.

Average amount left on the timer when the bar seems to occur during fights:
14:12
12:10
9:50
7:35 OR 6:55 <- Am currently trying to investigate how to predict which one will occur.
4:35 OR 3:55 </
(He usually dies somewhere at this point, but the general trend still seems to continue)

UPDATE: It seems the Shatterer loves to use his purple fire-breath attack right before the defiance bar comes up. So if you approximate with the timers and see him spit up these purple fireballs, jump and glide.

3) This is more of a general tip, but in a squad/party, keep the Shatterer targeted at all times. It makes it easier to see when the bar appears.

4) A factor causing difficulty with the bar breaking is the fact that people are focused on doing other achievements, such as killing the branded or dropping med kits.

It would be useful if these timings could be tested further, so if you have any other observations and pointers, do share them here.

I find it funny how the LW S3 part raises all those questions of rytlock and destiny’s edge and the survivors and canach and such…But not the big question of how the world will react to the sylvari from now on.

Regarding OP’s idea for the Revenant and racial stances, i’d say why not let the Sylvari player channel the power of the Pale Tree itself?

Dunno why you’re complaining so much. Personally when im bored, i sometimes go and sit down at some of the hotspots of RP, and just listen to these guys. Their spontaneous creativity amazes and amuses me.

Oh and, i read from guildwars2roleplayers that they pretty much have the following guidelines… oh and pay extra attention to points 2, 4 and 9:

1) You have the right to roleplay your character however you want, with any name or background you want, and about any topic or theme that you want, so long as what you are doing does not break the game’s terms of service.

2) You have the right to roleplay anywhere in the world that you want. No one has the authority to remove you from a public area ICly or OOCly or tell you that you can’t be there, no matter what they might claim.

3) You have the right to roleplay in whatever style you wish. You can adhere to the standards of language/communication as little or as much as you want. You can use whatever tense that you like or emote however you see best. You can use the surroundings around you or disregard them if you see fit.

4) You have the right to start or stop roleplaying whenever you wish. You do not have to acquiesce to requests for you to be IC or OOC, or listen to anyone that tells you when you can or cannot roleplay. No one has the authority to tell you when to roleplay.

Hmm im also from Aurora Glade. What about everyone else? It might be the common factor, considering guesting in to other servers can be used to fix it (kinda)

I just bought the Royal Terrace Pass (lol im dirtpoor in gold now), and was happy to finally have it, but when i used it, i got stuck at the Divinity’s Reach loading screen….And i have already restarted the game 3 times…. And it’s my main character who i always play with…..

So what kind of effect does the S2 have on new players i wonder?
I suppose since they haven’t played previously, they have not been able to unlock the chapters, and thus they have to pay for them now.I personally think some new players won’t find this a positive thing when they buy the game…
(well, they also missed S1 and they probably dont know the new characters now anyway)

What are your opinions about the relationship between the new living story and new players who buy the game?

Actually no. I really do find this an issue. I’m tired of accidentally ’’deleting’’ what i need for the crafting.

Seriously…why can you turn them into 15 fractal relics just by double-clicking ???

I’m trying to collect 5 pristine fractal relics for the Mawdrey backpiece, but now that i just got one after like 1h of work, my finger accidentally slipped and it instead turned it into the normal fractal relics…..

This seriously has to be changed, i’m afraid to even touch my inventory…what if i accidentally misclick again and ruin all my progress…i dont even want to move the item around in the fear that i might mess up..

-As it costs 1000 gems, is it permanent?

-How is it accessed? ( = do you need to have some sort of item in your inventory, thus limiting it to just one character at a time without a bank transfer…i’m curious because i change my characters often while i’m playing.)

-Where are you dropped off if you log out while in the Royal Terrace? ( = do you remain there or are you sent somewhere else, like LA, when you log back in)

-Can others in your party come there with you?

-Is it worth the price?

I only come back for the achievements and gear. The story itself could just die in a corner for all that matters. If I wanted a story I would watch a movie or read a book. I play a game for playable content to entertain me.

For some reason i always feel offended when someone says something like ‘’the story could just die in a corner, i wouldnt care’’ (My best friend skipped all cutscenes and dialogue in S2 so far and i was just kittened at him for doing that)… Personally to me, the story is one of the most important aspects of a game, EXACTLY like in a movie or a book… i basically compare a video game to both of those… Without a story, the content itself is dull and pointless.

That’s crazy ._. When i played Caithe in the new story, i just hoped our normal thieves could have such awesome (but op) skills as well…. Oh and i have heard that your own gear affects the damage done by Caithe.

And yet, here I am, fully enjoying the story and thinking its even better and funner than the whole Zhaitan thing (level 50+)…

So, i havent played the game for months and now decided to pick it up again.
I’m leveling my guardian who is now around level 60 already, but now i happened to read online that the 70+ level quests have been completely messed up (deleted or their order changed) since the september feature pack.

Is that true? Would it be wise to instead wait for a glimmer of hope that they would revert it? (meh, i wanted to know what the third option story for the ‘’greatest fear’’ was…)..

I dont get why they would even delete or rearrange them, just for the sake of ‘’we couldnt fit them in the chapters’’…

Super Adventure Box, a lovely mini-game world.

My bf is out of town and cannot unlock the Dragon’s Reach Part 1, can he do that later?…considering how Part 2 is in 2 days…. (i suppose for gems?)

During S1 living story, i wasn’t as excited for new updates and stories as im now, considering how i’m now looking forward to the next episode with excitement whenever i finish the current episode. I think its because of the more ’’personal’’ story, not just a massive zerg attacking a boss.

And of course, that cinematic in Omadd’s machine was amazing (in fact, i had to rewatch it on youtube for another dozen times, to understand and enjoy it even more)

So, how come if my character is a sylvari, kasmeer claims its somehow difficult to get an audience with the Pale Tree? (after ‘’The Machine’’ quest) I mean, i’ve been there so many times already during my personal story. Would make sense if the character wasn’t a sylvari, but since he is…

So somehow I actually managed to see a dream about the Grove last night, and it got me thinking.. I actually saw it under attack, by some sort of bandit faction or something..

With all the recent ‘’omg sylvari are evil’’ theories due to the story in the game, i sure hope that the Pale Tree won’t come under attack by the other races, due to a possible future motive of ‘’We have discovered that you are the Dragon’s minions’’

Adventuring through the wonderful world of Tyria gets a bit.. i dont know how to describe it…’’lacking’’? sometimes.. when the music is so slow-paced and sometimes a bit dull (note that i don’t hate the music in the game, I especially love ‘’Fear not this Night’’).. I think it could use some more energetic music in different places.

(Note that i’m not talking about combat music, but normal adventuring music, it’s just too slow and quiet)

i want that achievement too but ive only seen 2 of the 3 events succeed at a time… it completely depends on where the miasma event is, if its some difficult to get to place, people aint going.

i love the screams, creates the mood.

So i finally decided to try out warrior and its quite good, but i dont know what im doibg wrong..i keep getting downed or defeated all the time. ive heard so much talk about “omg their survivability and burst iz op”.. The damage seems ok, but im not convinced about the survivability part.. Im around level 15 atm, and tbh even ä my thief dies less (im just missing engineer now, i have the other classes).. Tried different weapon combos and one is either gs or hammer with a bow or rifle (aoe vs 1v1).

give me newbie tips please :p

Try guardian, they can take a lot of punishment due to their health regeneration.

So, ever since the patch where they added the Razing, my ’’luck’’ with ectos has become as low as you can get.. I have been testing this for days already:

i do world events, get about 5-7 rares, salvage them all with master or mystic (on different days), i get a MAX of 2 ectos, if even that..
i used to get like 1-3 per rare, now its about 1 ecto per 3-4 rares, and this has gone on for like a week at least..
I even had 3 exotics somewhere there, used BL salvage kit, got 2 ectos….out of 3 exotics

Note that these items are levels 77-80, mostly 80.

Do i really have THAT much bad luck or was something changed/nerfed?? ._.
Considering this has gone on for days and days…

As an addition, i also get a sigil/rune only about once per 3 rares..

I had to login specifically for this but….why the heck is everyone saying mesmers are bad at condition removing? We have Null Field, the Mantra (usable 2 or 3 times, depending on traits), then that utility spell that switches 3 boons and conditions with the enemy.. i dont think its all that bad or ‘weak’ when it comes to condition removing…

on a side note.. id say mesmers lack burst damage…and !!!MOVEMENT SPEED!!!

Hnnng all that tybalt and sieran hating is making me angry! They are the BEST npcs in the game imo…..im a lorelover and i still also like the attitudes these 2 have..

What in your opinion is a huge mistake while playing an ele? What makes an ele player noob? What would you avoid at all costs?

Ill start: i have a friend who i play with, we both have ele alts, i like scepter focus and he likes staff. What makes me cringe though is the fact that he uses fire 99,99% of the time…. Just spamming fire 1 and sometimes fire 2 and 3. He only switches to air only while travelling for the speed buff..

I just… cant handle his style of ele playing… So much wasted potential…i guess he is used to playing those dull warriors and rangers only..

I would like to know, in what ’’order’’ do people appear offline? As in: all of my friends are offline, and it doesnt seem like their names are in the alphabetical order, so what order is it? It seems to change.

PS. Im talking about -WITHOUT- clicking those arrows that changes it.

Its not alphabetical and not ‘’online/offline’’ choice if they are all offline.

So, it is quite obvious that engineer is the least favored profession, and i thought of 1 thing that would increase their popularity. And im talking about appearance..

(note that no skill change is involved, keep those)

Engineer tech looks very “charr-like rusty” war tech, so here’s how id improve it:

~How about giving each race different looks, especially for turrets. Let charr have the current, BUT for example asura would have their glyphic magitech style and sylvari would have plant-like turrets!

I often hear those “asura engi?” questions that usually end with not taking engi because of the tech appearance.

Share your opinions and/or support! Bring engi back into popularity!

Chaos Storm at your own location+ Chaos Armor should also help, + Distortion Shatter, and of course your own stealth spells. Add in some clones, and it should be confusing enough.

IMO Asuras have the best “cultural” storylines, creative and fun. Followed by Sylvari and Charr stories.. Whats left after that feels just ‘meh’

Lol, i was just about to post here about Mass Invisibility, after some testing yesterday with some people.

It says ‘’You and ALL Allies gain stealth—’’….yeah yeah, half of the people near me still didnt get stealthed (inside the radius of course), and it seems to choose that randomly..

I dont get why it says ALL Allies, if it doesnt actually stealth All, just Some

Its funny because even harvesting nodes is faster, in addition to the skills and reviving etc…and considering Time Warp is an aoe….op lol :p

So i decided that im sick of my sylvari wearing human clothes, and i want to buy the cultural clothes. The problem however, is that i cant decide what set to get, its the shirt part of the sets that i dont like so much… I dont like that tentacle tier 2, tier 1 looks good except the shirt is horrible, tier 3 is expensive and not so good looking either,..

Im also considering Twilight Arbor’s set….

some suggestions plz… are there any other Sylvari (plant) clothes?
