DX11 is known to actually improve perfomance and FPS of cards taht support it to by the way.
Look at gaming benchmarks for games and MMO’s that both have DX9 and 11 and look at the side by sides in terms of performance.
Yes I know WoW is 7 years old but when using their DX11 api my performance jumps up a ton. Read the benchmarks done on this as well comparing DX9 and DX11 in wow.
Alos WoW is a CPU intensive game as well like GW2 (thats why many places still use it as a benchmark for CPU intensive gaming)
So regardless of more pretty effects…DX11 API on its own will increase performance.
They have all these nice areas full of chairs and tables…yet all the NPC’s stand around them lol
kills immersion imo
Id like to be able to sit to.
Never got to do them in GW1 because of group elitism, if you weren’t the right class/cookie cutter build combo or you were new you didn’t get a party… so no I’d rather they not add content a casual player won’t be able to experience.
And definitely against any sort of PvP in PvE, no need to open this game up to griefers.
lol
I did almost all these areas with Heros. Rest were with frineds from my 6 year old guild in GW1.
7 hero support group setup. Sabway setup. Disord setup and so on and so on.
If you got the right hero setup you could have done every area..some may be more challenging then others and not with real people but it could be done.
Or were you one of the many who jumped into GW1 just to farm HoM points like so many people did before GW2 launch. Then I kinda understand why you were shunned from most groups (no offense) cause most HoM farmers were under geaed had only a few heroes and didn’t understand much about the game mechanics and hero setups. There were just there to try and get some points.
I personally feel Anet should have made different teirs of HoM points depending on how many years you had your GW1 account.
Any ideas can Anet say something about this when its coming? (I assume not but it was worth asking)
Theres a ton of minigames I was hoping we would see in each city…I can be patient.
I kinda enjoyed it in GW1 I didnt do it much.
I see the area for Polymock in Rata Sum is closed off.
Before people bark and say its pet battles like in WoW this mini game came out many years ago in GW1 long before WoW had the idea.
Any other events or minigames people hope to see soon?
BTW I made this thread in General discussion…guess a mod moved it to bugs so I assume its a bug?
Guys this sound bug is causing massive system issues.
3 bios resets after the crash.
USB ports stop working after it happens I have to completely shut down and wait then cold boot.
After a few minutes of the sound bug this happens…
The Error that pops up at the blue screen sais something like…
“There was an error with a signal/instruction being sent to the second core. It was interepted and halted”
I cant get it to save the dump file… however it has something to do with a process/instruction or something not getting to the second or whatever core its halting/freezing and its crashing the system.
I have an I7 3930K – So its apperantly my 2nd core not getting an instruction. It could be the same with others or it could be different cores depending on the layout.
I want to play but Im afraid this is gonna break ny system!!
Here is a perfect example.
Its inside the eternal BG jump puzzle from a few nights ago.
I am on the other side of a cliff and up and over that cliff is the Beast room with the monsters in it that you can unleash …its right after the dark room. I targeted the guy in the beast room and ran and jumped off the cliff. Its about as far as the targeting will go before it drops. He jumped out the room and continued towards the end of the jump puzzle and I followed his star until the targeting got to far.
Look at the picture…. I can STILL SEE the gold star he has through the mountain and floors.
Anet fix this please.
Got both halves of the key.
It said unlock vault but no matter how many times I press F, right Click etc etc etc nothing happens.
Just found out that this has apparently been bugged quite a few days now.
yeh…I wasnt going to say that but it does make mesmers easy targets with clones lol
I dont care about WoW but I feel this game needs some sort of dungeon browser.
Every map Im in has people map jumping spamming chat trying to find a group. Thats costing silver them to jump all over the place like that. It also can take hours to get a group now…
I have gotten my moneys worth to…I just made the mistake of having my hopes to high especially for sPVP and PVE endgame.
This is fine though….its a new game I will give them time to add more stuff and hire more staff lol.
Much love to Anet and GW2.
yeh today I saw 3 other players with it and before I even saw their names or waht color team they were I saw the gold star. I can also see the gold star through walls which means people are doing the same to me ….that isnt fair for either of us since we cant even hide around a corner and catch our breath cause we have a big gold target over our heads.
funny.. Im lvl 80 and got whites and a gem from the lions arch ones.
I never get anything below blue quality and I normally get at least 1 rare and a medallion. Considering it takes all of 5 minutes tops to get a couple silver, I don’t see your point. Better rewards come from boss chests. Dragons give large chests that give you loot based on your actual level, as do the starting zone bosses like the Fire Ele and Ice Shaman.
I suppose your the special one then lol…everything must be perfect.
I must be one of the many in the above 0.5% bracket
all chest loot is terrible in this game
theres like a 0.5% chance of good loot and the rest is vendor trash.
Thats pretty bad its that way…They dont want us to grind yet they want us to grind for loot…
The gold star next to your name can be seen through walls etc etc…Makes you an easy target in WvWvW and sPVP as well. I can see people with it when they are on the other side of a wall like in the eternal BG jump puzzle. If I can see them with the star then Im sure they can see me through walls with my star as well lol.
Kinda unfair for both of us
Any chance Anet could reduce the opacity of the gold star? Make it fade with the rest of the name? Make it dissapear when in WvWvW or sPVP?
etc?
Thanks
I spent about quite a few hours today completing jump puzzles…I knocked out 16 of them.
I am pretty disappointed in the rewards that come from the chest.
I got mostly white items and one or 2 blues. This was also fighting the boss (giant destroyer troll, undead nobles etc) at the end of most of them.
Shouldn’t things like this at least reward you for the effort you went through? I am doing the jump puzzles for achievement points but if it wasn’t for that then I wouldn’t do them at all because the loot is so bad like this.
This also seems to be a pattern for some boss fights to.
Please Anet make the loot worth our time.
Thanks
Another sound bug like in my opening post.
Boss fight shatterer..lots of things ahppening again on screen.
This time my mouse died. Hard reset didnt fix it. Then shut down the system and rebooted now it works.
This scares me…some of these Bugs may be actually damaging our computers.
2 Bios resets and multiple USB Port failures now from this.
And as like many others say…never had this issue doing anything else…not even a few hours burn in with Prime 95 or any other apps or games.
AngelusActually “My Brain” sees the “red” names a lot sooner then any colors.. especially over hills or around corners.
Which is exactly why the tags should only show up after you actually see the player, but thats beyond the point.
Angeluswith respect, completely disagree on this.
played many mmo’s, never noticed a body color before a name color
And you wouldn’t. Your brain does that for you so you don’t have to. You remove a possible conflicting factor by standardizing colors, which lets you focus on other things faster.
Nametags are a convenience, especially in close range encounters. Outside of situations where you shouldn’t be able to see them in the first place like the previous quote I’ve answered to, I am fairly certain that rainbow colored enemies with no consistency would contribute to situational awareness and tire you out quicker.
To each his own is what I say..people are different. Brain experts popping up all over the place here…..
Your brain recognizes the contrasting colors way faster then it notices the red text above them. Not even going into the headache infusing color combos that are possible and the additional “distraction” your brain has to deal with during tight combat situations. It is mostly done on a subconscious level afaik, but enforcing color discipline for team play aids situational awareness and prevents any issues coming from “distracting” color combinations.
Actually “My Brain” sees the “red” names a lot sooner then any colors.. especially over hills or around corners.
I wonder exactly what Deth wonders, whats with the gaming community these days? When did people stop playing games to have fun and when did people start playing games to have a second job?
GW2 takes us back to how games were done when they were indeed good and fun without a carrot around every corner.
This game lets you focus on what you like, grinding new gear, RvRing, BGing, Crafting, farming or you name it. For me its great, there are no money sinks unless I really want legendaries, so I can grind a bit and focus on alt when I want. Just like it is with BGs, even if I slack for a week or two I wont fall behind because the gear is just looks, the way it should be, BGs are about having fun, thats the main point with the whole gaming industry. Something many gaming companies have forgotten about, A-net not being one of those.
No money sinks?
Waypoints = Money Sink
Durability loss in WvWvW = Money Sink
Commanders badge = Money sink for those with the money since it dont do much except for a blue marker and a few other things not “100 golds worth” of features
Heck….always buying mining picks/sickles/axes = money sink.
Just MY opinion
(edited by Angelus.1042)
Id think it would be obvious enough since the opposing teams names are in “Red”
Team colors kinda defeats the purpose of having “skins”
I am still playing. I am trying my best to ignore the Bugs and Issues that have been Plauging it for months.
Hasn’t the game been out just a month and a half?? Or were you talking about another game?
My bad should have mentioned the betas which count from press in Feburary… Theres your “months”
I am still playing. I am trying my best to ignore the Bugs and Issues that have been Plauging it for months.
The weird sound bug that sounds like an alarm…still not fixed…it is actually causing my systems BIOS to reset when it happens.
sPVP…my most anticipated part of the game…only 1 game mode…terrible pvp browser lobby etc etc ….downed state should NOT be in sPVP. Kind of a slap in the face to fight someone “kill” them then as you stand there trying to “finish” them you get zerged and loose out on “actually” making the kill.
Legenderies are skins only… why not just a nice 5 – 10 percent boost….It wont cause in imbalance since only a few will still have them…for me a stat increase will make it worth farming for… Same goes for legendary armor when it comes out.
Arenanet claims no grind but in fact it is a massive grind. Honestly though this is unavoidable in any game with “farming” and “leveling”.
Diminishing returns also kills things. Its like saying “thanks you played for an hour or 2 and no more badges for you until 24 hours pass… so go play something else now”
WvWvW I fully agree with the OP on. It should not have all the extra “fluff” in it. If they remove or reduce that I bet they could squeeze more players in…Id rather be playing then waiting in a queue. This will also have players focus on WvWvW PVP rather then spending hours (like I do) running around trying to get POI’s, Vistas and skill points…I’m benefiting myself by getting this but honestly this is WvW I should be benefiting my team. This is no place to be doing my own thing getting completion points…there are many player that do this and this isn’t helping the server cause half the force is out “questing” and not fighting.
I still love GW2 but with some things it makes loving it “hard”.
I still have faith and I will give it time.
Just happened again, this time causing my BIOS to lose all settings. I had to go back and setup my BIOS and all custom settings again.
This takes time on my board…ASUS Rampage IV Extreme… Ive got about 30 or so specific settings lol..>.>
I was in WvWvW and got that strange sound noise. Many people describe it as a pulsing alarm like sound…I guess that makes sense. Or like a siren but more computer like in sound.
Anyways the blue screen error that Windows gave me said something about there was a signal that was interrupted while being sent to the second core. It halted and caused my system to crash.
This has been going on since launch when a lot of things are happening on screen like a boss fight or WvWvW.
(edited by Angelus.1042)
no… how else are we supposed to get the WvWvW part of world completion if we are on a not so good server?
Even Anet said to use the transfer service to get the WvWvW part of worl completion. Also many others said that was the way to do it in the other forum post I asked about it.
Until they do something about moving vistas and POI’s in WvWvW to outside strongholds I prefer they keep transfers free.
One more
The first story line that launched with GW1…Prophecies.
From the beginning the cut scenes were great.
Edit: Should have titled it “I hope expansions have more cinematic cut scenes”
Hope this post makes sense as to what Im tryna get across. I love GW2 I just want see waht others think about them going back the the traditional route of real in game cut scenes instead of those side by side pictures of 2 people talking that most of this game consist of.
—————————————————————-
I enjoy GW2. It has its flaws and many other things but all in all its fun.
If there is one thing that I would really like to see improved, it would be the cinematic cut scenes.
This game does not have many…there are some for story dungeons, and there are a few at certain points in the personal story. How ever most the time its the static background with 2 characters talking to each other, and have you noticed that most the time they aren’t even really looking at each other.
This was a major immersion breaker for me…I found myself hitting the skip button on all of these, quickly reading the text and moving on. Only time I actually watced was when it was a real moving cinematic cut scene.
I really hope in the expansions that they move back to making everything in game that way. Sure maybe one or 2 quick scenes can have 2 characters with a static background talking to each other but I (personally) would like to see it just do it in game. You run up to someone (it can have a quick black screen to load the scene..thats ok) then the camera pans out or whatever to give it a more lifelike feel and the cut scene starts. It can also use your own personal character in the cut scenes like it did in GW1.
Guild wars 1 in my opinion had better cutscenes. They all had a cinematic feel to them. GW2 has a few good ones but most the time its just 2 characters barely looking at each other trying to express emotion via yelling, laughing, crying etc which fails in that kind of setup.
I hope they go that route in the expansions to make the cut scenes once again feel more cinematic and keep the side by side conversations to a mega minimum…especially for important parts of the story.
Here is a video of all the cut scenes from Guild Wars 1 Eye of the North.
You may actually enjoy watching this as it has many of the famous GW1 characters, it has the Dwarves and what happened to them, Norns, Old style Asura, Destroyers, Char that ended up helping the humans etc etc and the ending shows the precursor to GW2. Its a great catch up on the Lore.
Also the character in the vids the girl with glasses is the players character. So they can add in your own GW2 character if they made these type of cutscenes.
No offense to GW2 but the voice acting in GW1 was fantastic…should have re hired most those people back lol :p
I ended up watching it for old times sake
turn on Vsync or use nvidias adaptive vsync
The reason cards run at 40 – 50% is cause vsync has kicked in.
No vsync means card is working at max speed so heat will of course be higher.
Remember…more then 60fps is pointless…so save your card and enable adaptive vsync or use the in game vsync
Remember if you use adaptive you have to turn off in game vsync so it dont override adaptive.
Adaptive pretty much automatically enables and disables vsync depending on how low or high frames go…works great.
yeh they said divinities reach would be full of mini games and so would the other main cities.
Polymock arena is still cut off in rata sum.
64bit was never meant to be an FPS increase. It however is a performance stability and multi tasking increase.
Game Loading Time is longer after Oct 7 patch (SSD)
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Angelus.1042
Yes I noticed this to.
Time loading levels has doubled if not tripled for me.
Im running the corsair Force GS SSD
I noticed this the first loading screen after patch.
you do realize the WHQL official 306.23 and now the 306.97 drivers are out.
his CPU is not throttling lol also its overclocked he should be getting performance then this.
Then again this game still needs better GPU optimization…its even stated on the Nvidia website that GW is is very CPU intensive… Id have thought by now the game would have been fixed to better use high end video cards.
Many games have been tested on DX9 and DX11. If the card supports it the game runs a heck of a lot better on DX11.
I dont care to much about pretty features but the perfomance gain and a constant FPS are more important to me.
Cards that support DX11 run a lot better if using that mode.
Also again I will say…a 64 bit client will also make a performance difference and most computers today are running a 64 bit OS.
Both these features have already been proven in other games including MMO’s. Its just odd that both these were not included in a 2012 game that is supposed to be next gen like GW2.
Off topic but many game developers have stated taht upcoming titles will be 64bit only and many Devs are moving to DX11 only as well.
There is also a reason that AMD and Nvidia are launching all of their new gen model video cards now from cheap to top of the line almost all models of the 600 series nvidia and 7000 series amd are out now to offer consumers a choice. You can pick up a cheepo Gefoce 650 now for under 200 bucks.
All these cards support DX11.
I want gear that makes me powerful, not pretty… They could have at least given them a unique sigil and a little higher stats then what they have. I’m in no rush to get one…
This is the wrong game for you then.
Guild wars 2 is turning into another F2P dress up MMO. That saddens me.
PLease and please again.
What happened to the GW1 camera.
Trying to do jumping puzzles is horrible like for example jumping up that well in the eternal battlegrounds jumping puzzle. The camera is baaaad.
Need a first person view to for tiny corridors like the water pipes near beetleton (sp?).
Kill Zitan in story mode get 50 copper…..weeee
Oh and some random blues…… weee
yes same problem here.
Multiple times I have not gotten a crit.
Id rather spend my money on gear with actual stats for other characters then blow it on a pretty skin that will loose all its “oooh” and “aaaah” after a few weeks then you will sit there and wonder why your so burned out from the grind….
If the gear had some actual real stats or an alternate attack or special ability then I might be interested.
I also dont like the fact their just skins.
I dont see why they cant just add a 5% to 10% stat boost.
That would make it more of a reason then in my mind and not just making this seem like a dress up game…
There will be so few of these weapons that it wont make it unbalanced if they have better then exotic stats..
I cant wrap my mind around the fact of massive grinding just to have a pretty skin that will loose its “thats a cool looking weapon” factor after a few weeks.
(edited by Angelus.1042)
why did you buy guild wars if you don’t like pvp…..it’s the entire focus of the game.
or did the utter lack of pve content not give away the foundation of the game enough.
or maybe the title of the game wasn’t clear enough for you, guild wars…join a guild do battle…in pvp.
you want that achievment i suggest you get into those pvp zones and get to work.
I think you also left out the part with the utter lack of PVP to lol.
Thats all Ill say Ill leave this to the sPVP thread lol.
I had an easier time in GW1 getting destroyer, oppressor and tormented weapons..
Multiples of each one mind you.
God,,,,I hate to see the requirements for Legendary Armor in this game when it comes out.
Also many people here with 100% also just abused the server transfer feature before the 24 hour cooldown was implemented which allowed them to jump servers and go to areas that were controlled by there server and get the POI’s and vistas.
Then jump to another server and repeat until done.
So most the people saying its meant to be a challenge and blah blah blah probably did this themselves…
I think the locations should jsut be moved to be more accessible.
Btw I love PVP but the way this is does sem a little “meh” for those who enjoy PVE only
(edited by Angelus.1042)
Got it…
However I think its not thought out correctly if the mechanics “require” you to server transfer and have to wait 24 hours just to do something that should be not be impossible to get on your own server.
I hope what Im tryna say makes sense.
This one thing, that you think isn’t thought out correctly (in which you would be correct in assuming so) is just the tip of the iceberg.
Indeed….
However its the “current” issue driving me nuts lol
Zitan was the biggest letdown ever.
Im sorry Anet but I feel that way. I love the game but fighting an elder dragon should not consist of running around for 30 mins killing gorrillas, and undead things and then stand there and spam fire a cannon at Zitan…
Hope the other elder dragon fights are better then this…
I had more fun fighting the Claw of Jormag..
Got it…
However I think its not thought out correctly if the mechanics “require” you to server transfer and have to wait 24 hours just to do something that should be not be impossible to get on your own server.
I hope what Im tryna say makes sense.
Yeh but how can you tell what server has what?
EDIT – I see what you mean just look at the current 3 servers..
Still though is this not considered exploiting?
Since we are transfering to a winning side for the sake of getting these things that we should be able to get without needing to do a server transfer?
(edited by Angelus.1042)
Hope this makes sense and no Im not QQing I just feel that this especially now with server transfer cooldowns is very hard (beyond the normal challenge and into not worth it territory).
I like PVP but at 95% world completion with the WvWvW left to do is driving me nuts.
Most POI and Vistas are in keeps that the other side always has. So getting in is impossible especially if your server is not so hot at WvW.
Im not kittening but couldnt they move the POI’s just within reach of being near the wall? Same thing for the vistas? THis way we still take the risk of getting mobbed by other players or NPC’s but we can still have a chance of getting those POI’s and Vistas that we need.
Dont say change servers… 24 hour cool down kills that idea. Most (notice I said most so dont flame >.>) people got their 100% completion by riding the server jumps train before Anet made the 24 hour cooldown. These people kept jumping until they found a server that had each location and was able to get all the POI’s and Vistas. So to me this was called exploiting the case.
I know its meant to be a challenge but it can also be impossible depending on your server and finding enough people to zerg every location on the map…or actually finding enough people who actually are willing or care enough to do it.
Id just like to see these locations moved or something to be “just” within reach if you try.
thanks
