Id play it on PS4. Id just use a keyboard and mouse. Chilling on the couch at the big TV sounds great to me.
My PC I custom built is to big to move to the living room lol and the PS4 will have plenty power to run GW2.
Also Im sure that since PS4 is based on PC architecture now there will probably be ventrillo and other chat clients coming out for it.
So I vote yes.
OH joy….still no new modes for PVP…
I remember how proud Anet was telling everyone on different sites (facebook for example before launch) they had been picked up by ArenaJunkies (as in Junkies was creating a GW2 part of the site)….not even a few months in Junkies stopped caring after they saw how GW2 PVP turned out after the false hype died down and it was nothing like GW1.
Now most the forum post are how PVP in GW2 is a joke….
I refuse to get a legendary till they have some kinda skill or epic based content to earn them with, I would like to see them roll out some content that tests players builds and skills and rewards those who push forward. Oh and don’t get me started on fractals I’m just 19 shy of being at 500 runs and being 1 shot from anything is hardly skill based fights fractals are pretty tame and easy still. Give us content that tests us and makes us think while rewarding those who do so without RNG to everything under the sun.
Yes…an actual (long) quest to earn a legendary would be nice…not this “buy it off the TP” garbage or something to that effect… that’s not “legendary” imo.
There is an option on the map for underground….but it don’t show underground >.>
It would be nice if we could see all the underground areas we’ve been to on the map…
Like the skritt city and so on. Or all the little underground caves so we can remember where they are.
Ah “soft” has the iron ball grip of death on “net” I see….
there are raids in GW2, just not instanced raids
and they are a joke….
Tons of people mindlessly hitting an HP sponge boss that does 2 or 3 things and dont stand in the red….yet large groups of random people cant even get that right.
Reminds me of WoW raids
This is true….WoW has LFR (Looking for raid) nwhich has turned most raids into casual raiding for people to pretty much pull a “GW2” on the raid bosses…. they dont need to pay attention to mechanincs cause in LFR they dont exist (mostly)…much like GW2 “World Raid” bosses.
However normal mode and heroic mode are still challenging and require a major ammount of communication and coordination…for current content.
So in response to your comment yes it reminds me to of a WOW LFR Casual raid…. but not normal or heroic.
What i don’t get is….
They have had years of experience seeing what made GW1 PVP so INCREDIBLE….
Yet GW2 comes around and PVP is an absolute let down joke.
What happened?
….and dont tell me the games still new, they had years of development not counting allllllll the years of developing and running GW1 PVP to take from that update and incorporate the knowledge and experience it into GW2.
Its like they took everything that worked and all their knowledge and experience and just threw it in the dumpster for GW2.
GW2 PVP will never become an esport…and if it does it will be very very low at the bottom most likely on whats worth watching on a website like twitch.tv or something…it will be one of those things you watch when there is absolutely nothing else on to watch…..like watching extreme midget wrestling on tv at 3am in the morning on a weeknight.
They have a lot of work to do to fix it…I hope they do by the first xpac…if not then Im done…I know that me saying that don’t mean much but I was a loyal fan since beta GW1…
(edited by Angelus.1042)
Because the forums are still in beta as well…
/end sarcasm
there are raids in GW2, just not instanced raids
and they are a joke….
Tons of people mindlessly hitting an HP sponge boss that does 2 or 3 things and dont stand in the red….yet large groups of random people cant even get that right.
Instanced raids allow for greater mechanics and bossfights…were communication and coordination are key to win…
Don’t label all players who love hard and challenging content jerks.
Jerks are 14 year olds who think they’re tough over the internet. If I’m making a team to do content X I expect you to know how to play properly or at least to have the ability to adapt fast.
I wouldn’t call this elitism, I want competent players in my team. For what its worth this is elitism. This is the very definition of elitism. Setting a bar and requiring that one reach it before considering them for inclusion is pretty much THE standard for the term.
I am not expressing this as a negative commentary, elitism is not inherently a bad thing (anyone who thinks that elitism is bad should ask themselves if they would rather have a surgeon who was top of his class and is considered one of the best in his field, or the guy who flunked out of medical school twice before finally managing, barely, to graduate). so please do not take offense. But, what you have described is elitism.
Hope what i say makes sense…
Elitism is perfectly alright….its the way people have given the word a bad name from the way they act.
Elitism is found in every aspect of life including a video game.
A real life example is in the military…Special Forces Soldiers in the army are elite….In a video game Hardcore raiders in wow (relax people just an example) are elite to….its the actual use of the word and they way many (not all…but some) people act once they have reached that status is whats made the word almost a dirty word when in fact it is nothing of the sort…it describes people who have worked hard for towards that goal and they deserve the title…
However some let it get to their heads…and thanks to that, most any MMO community uses the word like its a curse word or taboo.
I say GW2 be allowed to have hard modes and raids. It would make the game enjoyable for many…those who dont care for it then…dont do it.
If you come across the bad kind of elitest then ignore them and move on.
In game series called monster hunter you dont even have such things as visable health bar for monsters, can you imagine that? Also If it would apply for world bosses than same would need to apply for everything.. which would question balance i think
IS this game called monster hunter?
Most fun I had in Guild Wars 1 was missions.
Bring that back add a few more players (10 – 15) and there we go.
See? They aren’t even called raids :o
Add some out doors stuff….like that one missions where you had to go take out the guard towers in GW1 without alerting people….the mission where it was real dark at night.
Because in GW2 ‘hard’ content is rewarded with greens and blues.
This^
Or nothing at all..
Wouldn’t you love to play extremely hard elite 12 player dungeon which would require 2-3+ hours to complete , which would require you to be skilled, a good player, and require immense teamplay, strategies and preparation?
To spice things up, say, this dungeon would be only open for one time in a week and to enter you would have to pay 5G.
And no waypoints/checkpoints and armor repair.Personally, I’d love this, I’d even pay arena net for a DLC including this.
As for the rewards, I wouldn’t personally care all that much, perhaps an end chest.
/*********************************************
The question is, why not? While I have no issue with this content being available for players that had the time to consume it, I would not engage in it myself with my current schedule. It is not the 2-3 hour block that is so much the issue as much as it is having to show up at a certain time and duration with no flexibility to walk away and attend life’s demands. Just can’t do that anymore. Again fine with it as long is it does not divide the community.
Thats why you find guilds or groups that don’t do this kind of content …. or find a guild or group that does raids like on weekends or whatever.
My guild in some other games we are all working professionals but we enjoy the game we play and have set aside times that work for everyone. If not we have backups.
There will always be those who raid 5 nights a week others that do it once or twice….others that raid weekends or others that don’t care about raiding and go do other things that interest them….
People think it will divide the community…..look at this games community already lol….
Anyways anyone can easily find a like minded group of playstyles as long as they look for it and can have fun.
If GW2 had 3 hour long content it would divulge into a mindless zerg since there is no form of a trinity system…
Id love to raids though….but with the current terrible system its not gonna be fun
Also content cant be made to hard in this game…..since there is no trinity…OR similar well though out system….All Anet can do is make a boss with a stupid ammount of HP (Thats their version of “hard”) and expect us to mindlessly hit it for 30 minutes and call it a day.
(edited by Angelus.1042)
Im starting to think that all that’s left are raging fanboys in the GW2 forums that aren’t open to any suggestions or changes…
Its all in the title.
Id like to see health percentages of enemies and so on. I hate sitting there mindlessly hitting the same dragon over and over in a Zerg and wondering where I’m at…sure yo can watch the bar go down but a lot of people like to see health numbers or at the very least a % amount.
Why don’t we have the option for that…yet?
I believe that people are just lazy in today’s world, that is all it is plain and simple—LAZINESS.
XD;; Everything you just said, I sorta agree. People don’t like being displeased, uncomfortable, or frustrated. But that is simply life, if a game didn’t’ do this, I don’t know how you would be having fun 24/7. That is just not possible.
Also a lot of people replying had some good answers, like more ‘story modes’ and ‘challenges’. Yeah I’d like that too! However, these types of things actually take a lot of time. Trust me, i’m partly in the field. So when you consume content at such a fast pace, expect boredom to hit you hard.
Or…some aren’t lazy …they just don’t like being lied to be the people who made this game and all the lofty false promises they gave us during development cycle…and they still have the gull to think they pulled through on all these promises…then again Im sure they cant come out and say “we screwed up”…
they could have at least added some story or purpose to the dailies and monthly’s…. any attempt to even try and mask it would have been nice….or getting reputation or rewards out of it would have been nice… anything would be nice… anything..
instead of an attempt to mask it with quest or something its just a dam checklist…go kill x amount of these… and so on…. in their attempt to be different and not be a grinder game GW2 has become the ultimate grind fest.
Think you guys could fix this please?
Id appreciate it and im sure many others would…
IM still foolishly holding out hoping GW2 will get fixed by an xpac..
The whole game is a material grind….you can buy legendaries off the dam auction house kitten #8230; there’s no quest or anything set to doing this grind or any grind…there is no attempt to even mask the grind in this game…
They could have at least put some effort into that.
This is nothing like what they hyped it up to be in all their post release videos especially the manifesto….saying the didn’t want us to have to grind because nobody likes grinding…
I remember Anet saying they didnt want the player to have to grind in Guild Wars2…..in their BS “Manifesto” video.
I swung a sword, hey look I swung it again…..guess what Colin…we have done that same grind a million times now… You must have been predicting the future
Major complaint since Press beta….aka Over a year now.
Also the fact of the mob re-spawn rate is worse where you kill them then boom…you are running out your cave and you get ganged on and die.
Its funny huh?? How things have changed so much from the “promises” they made during the development cycle in all their videos.
This has to be one of the grindiest MMO’s I have played in a long time…its been promoted to “Eastern (I don’t want to offend anyone with the other word) MMO” in my opinion…
Be glad this game does not have permanent stealth like other games….
Make mega boss fight less of a Zerg fest…. where everyone just beats on the boss… and hopes not to get randomly targeted and one shot…
Make the boss fights melee friendly so there arent 3 melee actually “being melee” while the rest of the “melee” classes are using long ranged to stay safe…
IM still suprised there is no particle effects slider….in GW2
Hell an 8 year “Old” game like wow has more options on the graphics settings…even to reduce spell effects… AND they added a DX11 and 64bit client quite a while back…which did make a difference..especially in the new content where they have increased graphics requirements….DX9 runs aroun 40 fps and using DX11 mode I get constant 60FPS (except for in the Sha of anger fight…if people know what Im talking about that can be brutal on any computer)…and yes they finally got DX11 working in WoW without it crashing all the time lol…but at least its there and even on an “old” game like that it made a difference along with the 64bit client.
…not here to instigate a WoW vs GW2 war Im just using it as an example….since WoW and GW2 are the 2 main MMO’s I play.
Welcome to the big world of MMO’s… or…welcome to the internet…
The dusk and dawn thing made me laugh rather hard…
(edited by Angelus.1042)
I just want DX11 for the optimization aspect since it handles better then DX9 does I dont care if I get pretty effects…also a 64 bit client.
Also for people who dont know most games have the choice of DX9 and DX11 so you can still run DX9 if you want or your system dont support 11.
A “Next Gen” MMO with no DX11 or 64bit client =/= Next Gen
But then again GW2 has been demoted to the “Dime a Dozen MMO” category anyways now.
Next wave of MMO’s with all the new features and DX11 support out the box will be here soon….lets see if any of those stick.
The whole legendary system is fail. Nothing legendary about constant mindless grinding…with no story or quest to back it up…or just buying it off the trade post.
Arenanet should not use the word legendary for these.
A simple question…before everyone starts suddenly becoming a PC expert.
Arenanet said they would look into DX11 after release….its been a while now… Game still has a lo of performance issues…and my system is no joke either.
Yes I know the game is CPU heavy which is sad…even the manufacturer of 200 – 600 series type of video cards said that lol..I cant mention a name since forum admins here are Draconian with the ban hammer (on an old driver update thread a few months ago). Also I’m not talking about new pretty effects for games I am talking pure performance gains.
Game is a New Generation MMO.
No DX11 support – Im not talking about pretty effects either I am talking about performance gain for systems that have a DX 11 capable card. Also yes now days more people have DX11 based cards then DX9 based cards ( I don’t mention DX 10 cause its rarely used and came out at a bad time just before 11 was launched)
On Steams current March 2013 Survey almost 50% of users have DX11 cards..(Thats just from people who took the survey as well) Rest have DX 9/10 cards. THere have been other survays (from people who did it) where there were 85% more on DX11 based cards.
Then comes the 64bit client. Sure it addresses more memory (if needed) but I have noticed games in 64 bit native are a lot more stable especially when switching and tabbing multiple apps.
Other MMOs that have switched to DX11 and 64bit clients have shown great performance increase.
Also those other game Devs had the harder job of adding DX11/64bit client to the game.
Guild Wars could have built the game around supporting it.
Many new MMOs coming have support out of the box and others are adding it.
Why not GW2?
Also lets try keep the amount of “Oh look Im suddenly an expert” comments to a minimum.
What would you do?
Personally, I’d:
- Buy all legendary weapons from TP.
- Fill my entire bank with crafting materials.
- Discover all the crafting recipes of the game.
- Discover the maximum amount of character slots.
- Buy all the expensive TP skins of the game.
- Buy all the cultural armor skins of the game. Now you know what to do with your next million dollar!
Buying all Legendary…..
There’s nothing Legendary about this games legendaries if they can be bought…
I think they should just stop calling them legendary now lol…so many can be bought and and so on
legendary =/= this games way of obtaining them.
to answer your question…IMO…. no one gets anything out of it other then a pretty skin.
its amazing how people forget that GW2 has had the past 5+ years to create a modern game when comparing it other “Games” that have been out for 8 years not counting the 5 plus year development cycle before it even came out. yet GW2 still lacks so many things …
like right now another big named mmo will launch this year (last game had dragonborns?? should be a hint since the forum admins love banning people here and I wouldnt dare mention the MMO’s name) They re making a modern MMO that’s gonna be supporting DX11 out the box not counting all sorts of other improved elements that Im sure they are looking at and improving over GW2….
its just an endless cycle…pointless comparing games…..imo
Also you cant compare GW2 to other cheap F2P games…GW2 still does have an up front cost and a cash shop… so yeh its quality is gonna be better (or it better be) then most other F2P titles.
So comparing GW2 to the other MMO that OP was hinting at is stupid
especially when hinted game had started their development cycle well over a decade ago…and yet even though its lost a fair ammount of people its still making millions upon millions a month…thats pretty good imo…
Id love to see GW2 up there but sadly it will never be
(edited by Angelus.1042)
I remember a long time ago they said our home instances would develop and people would react to us differently in our home instances depending on how we played, we could invite friends to visit us in our customized home instances and so on and son on and so on. So many empty and broken promises.
How long did it take all/each of those modes to be implemented in GW1 from release?
A long time. AB for one didn’t come out until the first expansion, I could be wrong but I believe codex and hero battles didn’t come out until the second expansion. I hate when people come up with this list and pretend like it was all available at launch. Not even close. At the time I started playing early-ish on in the original, it included hall of heroes (which later became heroes ascent), guild vs guild, random and team arenas (which were effectively the same game mode, just premade vs non-premade teams)
Yea they were not all there at launch…however there was enough to tide gamers over till they added new stuff and most of the gamers didnt move away from GvG or HA even when those new game modes were implemented they were more like a side show.
The real meat and bones of the GW1 pvp was HA and GvG no ones getting all nostalgic here, its true they had more for pvp at launch for gw1 than gw2, its a fact.
I agree with you that pvp for gw1 at launch was better than gw2, certainly in terms of gameplay variety. I just think that listing all of the game modes that existed at some point in the game (some of which were eventually removed) is misleading and unnecessary. You can make your point, as you have been trying since your OP with the relevant comparison, which is HA and GvG…so just stick to that next time.
Irrelevant, you just wanted to bash, you obviously played gw1 and knew what i meant; it has almost been one year since launch of gw2 and we are not even at the level of content at the launch gw1.
Remember, they had 7 years to dev gw2 and this is what we get?
THIS^ They had years to work on GW2 and take what they learned from GW1 for PVP…yet nothing exist in GW2 PVP…
So don’t say that GW2 is new and it will take time to add stuff…the Devs had plenty of time. They could have done better with GW2 PVP from the start.
JUST AN EXAMPLE below..dont take it literally like most people do..
Its like saying 1 car manufacturer put power windows in their car…do you think its logical that every other car manufacturer wait 7 years before they add it to their cars? Uh..no..
Also, I never looked this up…Is it the same people working on GW2 PVP that did GW1?
1. If not fire the current guys and use the old team.
2. If so then still fire them for forgetting their roots and the fact they made some of the greatest PVP ever in GW1 and their efforts to be different in GW2 was a stupid idea.
(edited by Angelus.1042)
Recently I saw a player with two fiery dragon swords and it looked awesome.
When I realized that they where HoM awards I was impressed.
I never played GW when it came out due to not having an internet connection but I did buy it with all expansions in Nov.
Unfortunately I find it almost impossible to play after playing GW2.As far as I am concerned the HoM awards are for GW players- they deserve it and their time/ money and investment gave us GW2
Sad thing is that half the people running around with HoM items played GW1 for a very short time just to get the points to unlock the items for GW2….before GW2 came out and they have the nerve to say they “played” GW1…
I still feel arenanet should have made every 10 points of the HoM in Tiers (for at least the first 30 points since its the items ppl wanted)
Tier 1 – Less then a year old account
Tier 2 – 2 or more years on the account
Tier 3 – An account for more then 4 years
This way it would have felt truly more rewarding for the GW1 players that actually played and were loyal to the game for years.
I read about people complaining about getting kicked out of FOTM or other instances…. so the group can then add someone else who hasn’t done any work right at the end for loot.
Why has an LFG tool not been added yet?
Using an LFG tool would get more people in…and eliminate the chances of 4 friends kicking someone at the last minute to invite their own fiend who did kitten for the group. Since if LFG was used, it would automatically fill in the slot with someone else in queue.
If they actually incorporated a REAL LFG tool into this game then it wouldn’t be a problem….
You would either have to
form a real group and go in with that group from the beginning
or the LFG tool (if used to find a party) would immediately fill in the slot if they kick someone thus eliminating the chances of them getting far in and kicking someone to add their own friend.
I’m starting to Wonder if GW2 was just a game created to Troll us from the beginning.
Just to see how far they can push people by pumping out garbage content and not listening to the player base on anything.
Like an experiment…but using an MMO…
Or they could have the guys who worked on GW1 PVP do this games PVP…and if it happens to be the current guys that are working on GW2 PvP then fire them (for getting lazy/loosing their minds) and get a crew that actually knows whats up.
It seems to have worked for Final Fantasy 14 lol…fire everyone and now apparently the game is playable again lol…(no I dont or ever will play it..just using it as an example)
They have been asking for FPS view (st least for the sake of screen shots) since Press beta….Good luck getting Anet to give a kitten…. Its been over a year now of asking for this.
I was about to make a similar post…
Can we please get an official statement about what’s going on?
Or they became Ostriches, drive your heads deep in the soil…
They are still to busy “Finding” those patch notes they were missing….AKA still tryna ninja patch a few things in under the guise of missing notes
Stop screwing over the super small guilds with family members and close friends.
We paid for the game to but we get screwed on these stupid requirements to even get into the missions.
You forget that maybe we want to just play together and their is nothing wrong with that…you have always stated we could play GW2 that way…
Then along comes missions that pretty much tells some of your player base to kitten off…you only care about the large groups since all you seem to base everything in your game around anyways is mindless large zergs.
Thanks for kittening the little guilds Arenanet
8-12 man guild. Nothing but WvWvW and some instances for gear. Had 100k influence. If you have 5-10 people in your guild and no influence left, maybe you should stop buying guild banquets.
Not every guild is going to be “try hards” at WvW like your guild.. There are a lot of small guilds with family members and friends. They are casual and enjoy experiencing the new content together. However the guild missions and bounties kill that chance of them even getting a go at it because Anet does not understand the small group aspect and family part of their player base.
They really are a good company for some stupid fail decisions…Its like they are trying so hard to be different that for them that means to destroy a game with so much potential…which is different since most game dev studios try to be successful…not like Anet.
Arenanet forgets there are small groups of people WHO ONLY enjoy playing with each other. This whole game should show you that all Anet likes is large groups/Zergs/Mindless gameplay/ and always stepping on the tight knit little guilds by giving them no reason to play the game at all.
Yeah sorry, but I’m out.
I enjoy MMOs because of the constant evolution.
This game (and game-play) is evolving so slowly it feels like watching paint dry.
Hell, we already have such a limited number of abilities and viable builds yet there seems to be no changes in sight.
When you have such a shallow game, at least make regular changes. I don’t want to be doing the same shmuck for months on end.
ontop of only 1 game mode (the least popular in any other game) + no real reason to play it
yeah, that’s about it. 6+ months for 1 minor meta change, a few kittenty maps of the same mode, and reverting paids back to beta
if it wasn’t fun before, why would it be now. people aren’t going to come back for this.. then we have to wait another 3 months for another “big” pvp patch? lol
QFT!!!
One game mode and the worst game mode possible.
This game mode was not popular at all even in GW1.
How can these people screw up so bad.
Such a disappointment all this time waiting for the big patch and this is what we get? Good joke Anet you will get far saying “When it’s ready”.
WHen its ready….lol
If that was true even with them saying it then Id have given this game another 2 years before launching….maybe fire a bunch of people and get talented developers and what not. Kinda like what Final Fantasy 14 did.
