Skin system should be changed too then: no for swimsuit with heavy armor stats. Because I yet don’t know how the skin system works, I have inventory full of clothes, most of them are for casual use and looks good, of rate fine or masterwork. Only one combat suit of exotic, which also looks heavier for being light. I kind of like this way to use clothes. Dress accordingly.
Twice we have taken the attunement but the port says uh-oh and we are back at the start. I have succeeded earlier but then I had help; apparently forgot something. What to do?
I also repeatedly fall down to terrain, unable to continue the jumping puzzle as said in the wiki. Hopefully that is a bug and it will be fixed soon. Very frustating to start from the very beginning without checkpoints that other players have.
The artistic light could have the tone of the environment. Is it now only fixed white colored? In any case, I want use max shader settings but now I’m forced to use low because of this camera oriented light.
The light on chest changes and the shadow of the weapon moves even only the camera is moved.
I think it is an artistic side/back light. Photographers and movie people use them. Skyrim has a mod called Face Light which is attached to camera.
I have shadows off and shaders at low because the game has annoying highlights which makes the hair look plastic. Perhaps this back/side light is the reason. In addition of setting shadows and shaders, there could be on/off for this artistic light. I would prefer natural environment light.
I have seen two times a strange blue dome. The dome appears persistent. This time I made in-game bug report with a screenshot; I have screenshots from previous incident as well.
I call this the blue DC dome because 3-4 players vanished in that dome. When I asked the last player what is the blue dome, the player said he got a DC (disconnect).
This dome was in Straits of Devastation, in front of the north gate of Fort Trinity. Strange place to have a blue dome. The previous dome was in the beach after the Tequatl event. There I asked a fellow player if he could see the dome: no, he could not see the dome.
The idea about the blue DC dome is funny; a bug that is part of the 3D world. Why would the blue dome disconnect the players: I walked to this dome and the previous dome without disconnect. So did walk the player who could not see the dome at Tequatl place. If the orphan blue dome is a part of skill which affects other players, then the dome may not have the owner anymore (invalid pointer).
Puzzling.
Inventory view in list format: icon, item code, name, etc.
Saving inventory and bank lists to a file. Perhaps accessing own game state via gw2 api, for reading at least: inventory, bank, equipment, achievements, map progress, etc.
Personal messages may disappear. In change of char. In change of chat tab. Reported about month ago; no fix yet? No chat lines should disappear. Or is there some good reason for it?
So, what is wrong with the diving goggles? My char is at lvl 80 and cannot use the diving goggles. No diving, no achievement. The message does not explain when I’m able to use the goggles again. Buggy goggles?
I did read that article on 40 man raids. The author assumes too much. TT goes nice and easy even it is 150+ people raid (whatever that is; not played wow). Also, GW2 allows people to be in 5 different guilds.
No changes to TT, pls. We need a LFG system which allows us to join an TT event; like 150+ people party. Also some kind of guild invitation ticket (in inventory): when guild opens the event, people may join the map if they have the ticket of that guild.
The TT event is such an event that people need to follow the organizers tightly. An alternative play style. And even if you don’t join the event, you may listen to TS; each wurm has its own TS channel.
Not fixed yet. I’m dead at jumping puzzle and would like to turn camera so that I can see other people and possibly ask them to revive. But the camera tilts toward ground. Cannot see at all.
I saw a game developer conference video where Anet people said any of them could make a build – a build that fixes only this major annoyance, but maybe not in practice.
I too would like to hear the explanation. And why did quality team passed this through? Should they have mini-beta tests before releases?
So, is this saying that all the players who only aim at Tequalt, are correct? I forgot to check what medal I got today when I shot Tequalt only after defence phases, very short period of time. I defended turrets and stomped the holes at north, and there partially forgot to shoot the mobs due searching the holes. Got the chest with usual content: blue, green, spoon.
Not fixed yet. Ty for quick response and solution. Just remember add a comment to the code that spinning dead camera will never again be brought back.
The spinning dead camera is really annoying. Would this be top 1 annoying feature in GW2? Perhaps solo games have this spinning dead camera too but there mostly is nothing to see after death. (And because solo games does not have this good support, players don’t ask for fixes because they know they won’t get them. Sure I could ask for better selfie camera for Skyrim but changes are next to none.)
The character rendering in the character selection ignores my shader setting. I use “low” shader setting because other choises makes the hair look plastic and the char to have white glow aura something.
Anyone with top NVidia GPU, how about dropping in-game screenshots of all shader settings? Human hair, preferably.
In WvW, I can see enemy names and merchant names even when I don’t look at them. For some reason the game decided that I should see mosquito names from 100 meters away and when mosquitos were near edges of the screen.
I have checked only the option to show player names.
These camera related issues are getting really annoying. I suggest they would have different camera presets for different characters. Not just one preset for all chars.
Charr: Camera dollies to head and very close, good. Dolly feels finer. But then it is impossible to take good overall screenshots.
Human: Camera dollies to chest but not close enough. Dolly feels coarse. Good for overall screenshots but still feets are clipped; dolly should be finer. In ideal selfshot, feets should be at bottom of screen, and head at top of screen.
Solution: Vertically adjustable look-at point and finer dolly. Different presets for different chars.
Screenshotting and gameplay cameras sure are different; the camera could reset to preset at gameplay.
Human’s and Charr’s feets are clipped away in hero panel, but that is not a news anymore. We wait for good news.
I wish this would be an open source game for reasons like that. I don’t have the problem but I have the rest of the bugs
Hero panel/Equipment: When I click leggings or any other slot, the left side of the panel still lists all what I have. Earlier it did list only items which goes to the slot.
It should work like Thanatos writes. People cannot update the wiki with better information if this is is not cleared by the game developers.
What was the change which caused this? My char is also a big left (her right side), or she leans. Too many patches and not fixed.
Beauty and art?
As discussed in the chat, I’m reporting this as a bug:
The case (6) of the Superior Rune of Ranger is said to work with minis. It should work only with ranger’s pets.
People ask this in the chat because minis are now taken away if the map population is raising. For the game balance it is better if (6) does not work with minis. They also claimed that (6) works with mesmer’s clones/phantasms; that should be fixed too if unintended.
Ascended staff and sword have chained jewels. Is it bug that greatsword does not have the jewel just like the sword has? Please add the chained jewel to ascended greatsword.
I wanted the staff because it has multiple chained jewels, but because I’m used to greatsword and because staff is more difficult to use, I choosed greatsword as my first ascended weapon. I hope it is just a bug.
Additionally have fixed maps which are never closed. The players that move between events may be happy with the maps which are closed. See also topic by me where I suggest that players could create a new map for organized events, like Tequalt and Triple Trouble. When they can create a new map, they never end up to fill the fixed maps, or maps with smaller bosses.
The dialog asking to move and the eventual forced move are annoying, specially if it comes often. If you have to ask, ask if the player want to play mostly solo in a fixed map and not get the dialog again.
Have a dialog which lists all the maps and allow players to choose. Taxis are ok but it would be faster to jump directly to the announced ip.
Anet could release creation tools for GW2. New creations – areas, dungeons, jumping puzzles, weapons, armor – could be available only in separate instances, not in the main instances. Anet developer could take the creations and polish them to the main instance.
Skyrim players have made stunning work with mod creation tools. Look at them.
Consider it as advertisement of the collectibles. The drop rate of it is high for the purpose. They want make you be very interested in collecting the rest.
I yet have to test of any fixes. Yesterday the message about hiding mini pets appeared again.
I have some new ideas to my previous suggestion – see my comment earlier in this topic. I assume the reason for hiding mini pets is the network traffic.
Instead of on/off, the mini pets could be shown (1) to owner only without network traffic, (2) to owner only so that only Anet knows the mini pet – traffic only between owner and Anet, (3) to a few players – nearest N players, nearest within range, party, guild, friends (if at range), (4) to all.
I would dislike the mini pet invasion, but I throw this idea too:
Now use of mini pets is limited to one mini pet at a time. Player could have more mini pets at a time if visibility of pets are controlled as above. Player could have a mini pet management dialog where player marks all pets that should be shown (this is preserved over map change etc.), and where player puts the pets to preference order.
E.g., in a medium filled map, the first mini pet could be shown to all, second to nearby players, third only to owner. If extra mini pets are shown only to the owners, I would not complain about the invasion.
I suggest the hard work tactics: keep lists of wished features, rate them based on design and implementation difficulty, clearly explain how to implement them, find help from people who knows how to explain, etc.
GNU/Linux community is not any better: e.g., GNU image manipulation program got re-adjustable rectangular selection 10 years after I wished for it. I detailed examples why the current system failed badly to do the work. (I implemented it to my own program but could not to G Img Man Prog.) (I get baby cats when I type the program’s true name
+1 for making it optional. This is not a matter of opinion issue, btw: when I did not make it to the end in a fractal, I was dead in a place where from I could see the final boss fight, but the camera spinned away repeatedly and I could not actually see and learn how to deal the boss.
Player should be able to name all pets in ranger’s pet collection.
When we change the active pets from the pet collection, the pet name must be retyped which is annoying. And keep the original default names as well in the collection window so that we may look at them if somebody else asks what is our pet; the original name is needed for wiki searches.
I agree with OP. But I suggest that we would have more idle animations. Player should be able to select the idles which are randomly applied. This would be good for screenshotters like me. (Skyrim has a plenty of player-made and popular idles; shows that players want idles.)
Quick solution: Show the mini pets only in player’s own computer; either without any network communication, or with only communication between this player and the server.
I find it very irritating that the “rising player population” is caused by the forced player movement from less populated maps to higher populated maps, and that there is no a way to stay in less populated maps in order to see the mini pet.
We just bought an expensive 6.58 g Moa Mini Pet for my daughter, and how to explain this feature to child? She has not earlier wanted to spend gold at all, but now she wanted without hesitation; I guess that it was important to have baby moa for her pet moa! And now Anet is taking the baby away from the Moa,
It does not need to be a chat wheel. A chat matrix would do fine too, and would offer more to say. Transparent background so that the game view can be seen. The chat matrix would pop up as HUD by holding a key down, and leaving when the key is released. It would be always in the same place, not around the mouse.
That is my preference. How do you like it? There might be a patent on mouse pointer related wheel, btw, by Maya modeller devs. But a few old games have such wheel too. Puzzled.
Mouse or keys are used to select the phrase (keys change context). Player may assign phrases as needed. Maybe 3 tabs if pvp, wvw, fractals needs different chats. The selected tab stays selected until changed; and is changed before starting pvp and the like.
Alright just trying to get all of these thoughts into a single concise list. (Please note this does not mean that any of these things will happen)
I would prefer that developers would look at the list in order from simplest to more difficult. I rate and comment the list entries. I’m not a know-it-all person, but know a little (not a disclaimer, but I do know only a little).
- First person camera
Can be as easy as making the distance between the camera and the character to zero. No change to code. Done it in my software this way.
- Increase max dolly (camera distance) distance
- Decrease min dolly distance
Both easy. The first is already done automatically in major boss events. The question is what to do when camera gets very close and how to do? Fading too early is not wanted. Jumping puzzles shows that the character should disappear completely. In FPV mode, when dolly distance is zero, the character must disappear. But devs should look at Skyrim camera mods which keeps the body and the weapons (they can now stare at their character’s chest). Simplest would be to make the character disappear
at some point.
- More finite dolly control
Easy. Changes to key and pointer motion events, if done like in the editor of Skyrim. User holds a key down, and then moves mouse forward and backward to dolly. Coarse dolly as usual with mouse scroll.
- Manual camera height adjustment
Easy. Add a new slider to options dialog, next to horizontal adjustment.
- Manual FoV adjustment
Easy. Add a new slider to options dialog.
Note: I would prefer a semi-transparent HUD sliders for adjusting the pivot point (camera’s look-at point) and the FoV because the options dialog would hide the view.
Well… why not start from the simplest suggestions? Why start from smart pivot.
(a) Taking character out should be as simple as not rendering her. No change to the camera.
(b) Sleep/sit: as I don’t know what the current implementation is, I would like to say that there is no need to tie the look-at/pivot point to emotions; just to the used character pose. Character goes down at knockout too.
(c ) James Blinn published a paper on Nested Transformations and Blobby Man; I implemented camera from it. The camera code has a look-at point which around the camera rotates, and has a point where that look-at point lies on the screen, and has distance between look-at and the camera. Does the screen point need to be in the center of screen, making terrain more visible than wished?
(d) I like that I’m able to see my mesmer’s undies. That is perfect now.
It should be expensive enough.
As to that problem: make every created map closed. Regular players would go to regular maps. If someone pays much for creating a private map and not inviting enough players there, that someone will learn the lesson
Now people do voodoo stuff to get an empty map for an organized events; like jumping to a wp simultaneously, and then using taxis before outsiders fill the map.
There is a need to create an empty map. How? Anyone? Pros? Cons?
I suggest the following:
-An inventory item which creates an empty map for its user; from gem store, expensive
-The map is invitation only; skill 5 could make the map free, but no need to use that
-The skill 1 could give additional invitation rights to the targetted person; they drive the taxis
-Timeout for the map
I tried to think problems like a person gives taxi to friends even it is not wished for; because organizers want their community first. Invitation/taxi driver rights should solve that.
I don’t know how maps works. I also dislike the idea that normal players would always be outside of good maps in big events. But usually they are outside because organizers go to empty map in any case. Normal players may come first, but served badly when all commanders are gone and taxied their people. (Anet says “first come, first served”.)
Game quits when screenshot folder is full.
If the game would report “could not save the screenshots; disk is full”, I could empty the disk without the quit.
Is this behaviour new? I remember getting warnings and cleaning the disk without interrupting the gameplay.
I have 100+ GB free space in my computer; in different partitions. The game installation disk has 70 GB. The game should save the screenshots somewhere else and not ruin the gameplay.
And, increase the number of screenshots: from 999 to 9999, at least.
Add: If the wishlists are taken as roadmaps, then we need not hear what they are working on because we know it already…
The company policy about communication will not change, but what about the implementation policy: we have a plenty of lists of feature and content wishes; how about taking them as your roadmap?
(And sure ANet thinks how to get money from this game: I have purchased gems and feel good in doing so – not because of the purchased virtual products, but because my money hopefully keeps ANet developing this game or GW3. Buy gems!)
Then make it ask if go instanced or not. I have an event which would require an empty instance for the guild only. Extra players could be taxied in parties, if needed.
My advice: Go with the guild members only; use TeamSpeak or Mumble. Do exactly how more experienced members ask. Stay background and prepare to revive more experienced players (if ranged weapon, stay their behind, ready to revive). Buy good gear, at least exotic.
Next party probably is more tolerant.
My first dungeon ended outside of the dungeon; they probably checked my achievement points and profession (mesmer), and decided to kick out.
By the way, GW2 developers could add the same features to GW2 that the SweetFX provides. Makes nice feature request.
I see only difference in the tone – like using display brightness and contrast. And that SweetFX adds annoying vignette effect. Not worth of the effort.
I have Intel GPU. Does SweetFX make the game feel like it runs on Nvidia flagship GPUs? Puzzled.
By the way, I use PTV for armor and PPF for weapon because I thought that the features are separate: armor protects and weapons kills. It is odd that armor can increase the damage (when not ramming into enemy). I originally wanted armor with TVH to keep me alive.
I completely missed that mesmers wear light armor. That explains.
What are those language selections for? If one chooses language english, does the player always remember to write in english in the chat?
I don’t care if the fellow players are from asia, but they should use english if they choose english as their chat language. I don’t think it will work.
North american and english players can be joined easily. But does american players want to see german or french; not likely. As finnish player, I feel that english players should be guarded from me if I have too bad english. The checkbox should be “I promise to understand and write english only”; and other players may report me if I write something else.
How Usenet works? There, in international groups, people write only in english, and that have worked well for decades. Practically the groups are english only, no exceptions. There are no language selection options at all.
I want read and hear game story in english. I want english and international chat. Guild chat is in finnish, and that is enough for me. I would prefer european players but full american map is better than nearly empty european map at night time.
I have power, toughness, vitality armor (power main). They have sup runes of mesmer, because char is mesmer. Now people say it does not work even for mesmer. What?
Weapons I have power, prec, fer — and everyone is happy.
I also have staff, scepter and focus with pow, vit, cond damage (cond dmg main). People say it does not work. I remember reading that cond dmg is better for mesmer.
Lets change every item to PPF zerg if nothing else works.
I’m wondering why Tequalt event has been so empty if you arrive at late. If 150 players can be in instance, why I see only 10-20 people most of the time?
Players use taxis (party or LFG) to join from different servers, without guesting.
Those RP players could join that way too.
How your suggestion expands this:
There are number of weapons and tools which can be picked up and used. They won’t go to inventory, though.
There are weapons and tools which can be purchased. Like Fireworks at Asura. Like Trade Post merchant. They go to inventory.
What is this action bar? Easy way to access these tools?
Are you just suggesting new crafting profession? Have you seen this in other games? Simple example?
