Real mesmer has all the buffs. I hit tab until the target has buffs. Real mesmer dodges and leaves clones.
I do shroud 4 and 5 when I have no idea where the real mesmer is.
I keep life force fully filled. If mesmer, or thief, hits suddenly, is f1 the panic button and start of the fight. Works with the binding root + longbow ranger too.
I run aggressively after and around the real mesmer with dagger, making the mesmer to loose track of my char. I use dagger/ + axe/ because I always aggressively chase.
Axe 2 channels through invisibility. But I don’t know how shroud 4 and 5 works.

gennyt, all players can choose the difficulty level. I just did read threads here about expert players whining on overpowered this and that – “need to be nerfed”, you know. Those expert players could play with “easy” level too ^^
Norbe, you misunderstood. We are talking about difficulty levels as in many solo games. No mmo has them. This game is rated for 12+ years aged children; a child may choose level “easy” in WvW – as would me ^^
Herzyr, I do exactly that. I throw myself in to situations. And I feel how some profs/builds are overpowered compared to my, independent of player skill.
Here is combat log of occurence between my non-HoT necro vs Daredevil. Our small team was in fire keep lord room killing lord when Daredevil started sniping my char. As soon as I noticed someone was hitting me, I pressed f1 + 4 to give initial damage and to reposition. My damage is at lines starting with “/”. Shroud 1 of other necros makes 5k damage to my chars, but here my shroud 1 does next to nothing, only 810, even I have full zerk build. The “claw” comes from privateer rune’s parrot, which apparently is better player because it does most damage. Yarr!

We don’t play WvW for rewards. Ask any who plays WvW for hours per day.
Fellow players should see “fractals done” (per difficulty range) and “personal fractal level” numbers.
Spoils the fun when you try to use tactics in fractals (and dungeons), and fellow player aggroes and kills every incoming mob.

I want the playing difficulty levels to WvW. The difficulty is now fixed to “very hard”. I want play with level “easy”.
Daily gameplay seems to be mostly gankers killing us “easy” players. Some using high burst builds; as “easy” level player, I cannot counter them at all. As “easy” player, I prefer longer fights.
Fights are short and there is no time to learn to combat; so, we “easy” players stay easy food to these “very hard” players. Even in our moderate sized zerg, when and if we have one, 1v1 situations are very common.
First thought on how to implement this is to make added toughness mean something. “Easy” players would have incoming damage reduced more than “very hard” players.
For “very hard” players this would be “challenging game content”. Burst gankers actually needs to learn to play.

What are all means to make thief invisible – and preferably for long time?
So far I fail to make d/p 5 2 2 2 2 invisibility. I checked a few videos: I toggle auto-target, I toggle action-camera, I tilt camera to top, I press side-movement (e), I do not spam 2 too fast, I rotate camera to opposite direction – or use 180 rotation key (but my char leaps toward camera, not where camera looks at), I have done the circle to wall corner but my char leaps still out.
I’m interested in the way I saw one thief to do: placed a circle to ground, did something multiple times while not leaping in any way; the thief stayed in the center of the circle and got long invisibility.
I have gear for trapper thief but d/p 5 2 2 2 2 or any other long invisibility is essential.
New ele player here, and this was first thing I noticed wrong with fire staff. Kind of frustating when staff does not do any damage to enemy in wvw. Enemies don’t stand in one place like npcs in pve.
I would like to see videos on how to solo capture camps. Different professions.
I have taken borderland south west camp with necro by first approaching from south west, not all are aggroed.
I have fighted and gave-up in the same camp with condi PU mesmer after 30+ minutes of aggro/reset fest. This camp has reset places so close to the camp that with my condi mesmer play style I could not avoid resets – and respawns.
I cannot take camps with power greatsword mesmer.
I cannot take camps with warrior. In borderland north camp, it is nothing but interrupt fest and my warrior dies.
My staff ele dies in shrines as well.
I test professions/builds by solo capping camps. If I cannot cap a camp, the profession/build is bad. I’m just casual, non-pro player – I think there is nothing wrong in that. Condi PU mesmer is best I have for solo capturing camps.
Note: I don’t have wvw abilities for guard killing / defending – that is +20% damage, -20% incoming damage. Before taking the abilities, I would like to see videos and try again.
EotM… I don’t know why EotM has unbalanced matches, like greens with 50+ zerg and blues 3 player “zerg”. I have thought that it is because of how teams are made – all greens are greens in EotM etc – and because winners of matches most likely gets green color. So is said, but I don’t know what is the real.
But well, “Join WvW battle” button would be far better than 24/7 of Outnumbered and total lack of players. No perfect solution is needed.
By no means, keep the existing wvw servers, but provide us frustated players an alternative: metaserver map.
For me, a simple “Join WvW battle” button would do fine: I would be moved to a map with 3 × 30+ (at least) players, and to any team so that all sides have equal number of players.
Those who want torture themselves with bad gameplay in Outnumbered maps, may choose the current servers, but we us others would get more balanced gameplay.
Maybe the metaserver instances could be listed and sorted by fullness. Players may manually pick any instance and team color, if they wish. Guilds could join less populated instances. A player returning from lunch break could join the team he played earlier.
For example, if a guild with 30 players join 30 vs 30 vs 30 map, the game starts filling the two other teams with “Join WvW battle” players – toward 60 vs 60 vs 60 balance.

I want something simple: When I enter EB, the game would put me to (virtual)server which has most players and at least one spot for me. Server would not matter; team color would not matter. Preference for server which has blue commander tag.
I frequently look behind while running. When player character runs in to raising slope, the look-behind camera drops down to feet and points upward to sky. Better would be if the look-behind camera raises up and points downward.
Note: Camera drops down and would raise up because the camera cannot go in to terrain. Dropping down is worse than raising up.
EB needs similar face lifting.
That PVE event at center needs to be removed. It opens gates to the lord rooms. Horrible to defend.
Cannon and oil users need to be protected. Cannons are placed really poorly. I personally promised that I never ever use cannon and oil because I have died there so often and because cannon can be used so little time in the red circles that they are useless.
I wait for Camelot Unchained (where this type wvw was copied, so people say). CU developers want player advices at their forums. It is kickstarter project; they better listen their funders. Check their youtube videos on how it is developing.
Please remove Skyhammer. Anet devs promised to give us a possibility to sleep and to work without easy caps at meanwhile. Skyhammer can be done easily and it opens all gates. Impossible to defend when our players are away.
Four or so enemies did the event and opened gates to “hills”. I had time to close only 2 outer gates. I died on the third gate. Closing means just closing, not repairing properly. It was easy cap. I was alone in the map and could not stop them doing the event. I could do nothing.
Anet devs promised. They did opposite.
My mesmer is so slow, and even slower in combat mode, that it makes sense to use alpha golem as speedy vehicle. I wish for horses instead.

They have toughness as main stat. But there are some other ascended trinkets with precision as main stat – still pow prec tough.
Separate shatters for clones and phantasms. Now I sometimes do shatter only when I can immediately spawn a new phantasm.
Players who need advices, join us in OMFG and represent the guild for chatting. We could go wvw and test various Vashury builds and rotations together.
Mesmer guide video explained that the size of the char does not matter. Asura’s sword hits as well as charr’s sword. Sure, we have option to adjust camera to character height, but I’m still wondering this.
Related matter is that in WvW, a ranger can shoot from wall to down at my mesmer, but I cannot use gs to the ranger. Perhaps intentional so that ppl on the wall gets protection. But I remember the rangers etc can hit ppl on the wall.
And pressing F1, F2, F3, F4 gives nice visual effects around your mesmer.
We often go dungeons and lvl 1 fractals with 4 ppl of which 2 are mesmers. We don’t use portals or time warps. Mass invisibility is used for skipping.
My mesmer does very low damage with sword. Noticed it one time when I took something alone. Exp players with other professions takes the same thing in two seconds but it takes forever with mesmer.
If original poster is in EU, maybe you should come with us. We don’t rush in dungeons and fractals.
Oops. As warned, WvW weapons cannot be salvaged. But some players make compromise because zerk weapons are expensive. I don’t know why players want salvage expensive weapons.
Can the extractor from the gem store be used to separate the sigil and the wvw weapon?
I have purchased full set of weapons from wvw vendor (1 gold + badges) as soon as characters are at level 80. EotM is good place to level because you get the badges of honor at the same time.
At level 60 the exo wvw weapons are only power/vitality. They are better than nothing to level 80. But if you’re low of badges of honor, save badges for level 80 weapons.

In dungeons, I have staff. When we stack, sword 2 and focus 5 phantasm have been good.
I wait for comments from mesmer experts. Should we organize a test? 5 gs mesmers in Arah vs 5 staff mesmers in Arah.
I played long time with greatsword in wvw. Staff improved my mobility greatly with phase retreat. I like staff 3 better than gs 2 and gs 4 because the illusions with staff stay near me. Staff 1 projectile bounces excellently – gs 1 does not bounce.
For example, when warrior leaps on me, I just hit staff 2 and staff 3. With gs, I was next to dead. Now I have more initial time in fight. Also, gs gave less damage in melee range and I always tried to make distance with dodges and decoys, wasting them.
Staff + greatsword is valid combo because gs 5 is much needed and because gs is better ranged weapon.
Just today I ran 17 dungeon paths with staff + sword/torch. Staff is valid weapon for dungeons too. At one point of Arah I had to solo a punch of ghostly champs(?) because others were dead – staff’s mobility was important, extra dodge.
I made mesmer and warrior in beta – after revenant – but no shield to test. I opened loot bags in hope of shield.
Oops. I play mesmer as main, but due expectations of dungeon players, I try avoid mesmer in dungeons. I’m not a warrior player. The post was not a troll. When I have been as warrior, the other mesmers have been underrated.
One is weirdo, two failure. Yes, I started playing dungeons and fractals recently…
But really the bouncing attacks may aggro unwanted mobs. That may explain why a fractal build has only one weapon set with main hand sword.
I play with warrior, not with mesmer.

I have not noticed anything weird in blink. But the update gave an animation bug where skill animations does not always work properly. You will get the weird animations back when they fix the bug.
You don’t need a special build in EotM! And, in EotM, no swiftness is better. I have not used focus 4 in EotM for the purpose – because shorter snake is better.
Two same weapons sets: I want the utility/options that both weapon sets can provide, but due the switching cooldown, I may not have access to utility I need. Happened too many times in zerg vs zerg fights. So, using the same weapon in both sets with these sigils is like a good idea.
I have dolyak runes because they are cheaper. I second the suggestion to maximize toughness: armor, trinkets, weapons, staff trait, runes. With toughness as main stat, knight is more power alternative – there is also condi alternative (see wiki for full list).
I suggest to use the same weapon in both sets. I have not done so because I don’t switch the weapon – too long cooldown. Your sigils are good, and that is why I could try e.g. staff + staff. No cooldown problem but sigils works, right?
Had too many connection errors during the download. That slowed down the download.
Problem is at Anet side.
Speed booster gives +15% speed – better than nothing and you may take better runes. Traveler gives +25% which may not be enough. Focus 4 gives proper +33% but is rather short time compared to that of enemies who chase you half of the map.
Fay, why are you bringing auto-attacking warriors to discussion? Stop.
In WvW, enemies that roam and attack (not run away) are exp. Most often I’m locked down and wrecked in that spot. A skilled mesmer friend have experience the same treat. If what they do, requires e.g. warrior only auto-attack, I sure wish similar simplicity for mesmer.
(If you are in Europe/Gunnar’s Hold, lets roam together for a while. I search for enemies for you.)
Show me videos what happens when warrior attacks you. Don’t attack warrior – let him use axe/mace on you first and then greatsword, for example.
I have seen too many videos where our hero attacks noobs etc. Let warrior which can solo Arah attack you.
I would like to see combat log extracts of the damages done by mesmer. My combat log again shows excellent damage numbers – done by enemies that killed me. So, if you have mesmer or other profession, do get killed by mesmer and check the combat log.

Thief today gave about 6,500. Ranger can do 4,000 damage with long bow.
I also want compare the time it takes to do the damage. Ranger can do fast; thief can instakill. In WvW, it counts how fast and big is the initial damage, and how fast the big damage can be repeated. Ranger is good at initial damage, at following damage, and repeat rate with long bow.
And I also would like to compare how many key presses and movements for positioning was used. Ranger just presses 1 and 2 and can stand in one spot. Thief presses a key for 6500 to 11,000 damage.
I started testing staff… when I was running in EotM, in the northest wall of the blue keep area, I surprisingly phase retreated to top of a small watch tower on the wall.
Would be nice to know all blink, sword swap, and phase retreat spots in WvW and in dungeons.
In WvW, the lord chests seems to be based on damage. If acceptable total damage comes in 8 seconds, it is goodbye to chests. Most tower lords are down pretty quickly.
Yes the damage from bleeding accumulates but warrior’s health did stay at 100%. No damage whatsoever. If warrior used some auto-healing, the health bar would have jumped down and up a tiny amount?
Scepter did not even hit. Guess I have to hit in their running direction, not sideways.
In other thread someone said ether feast is only viable healing. I wrote about my experience how Ether Feast healed just a tiny amout – visually checking the health ball – from good amount below half to some amount below the half. Not effective at all.
EF heals 5,590 which is 1/4 of the full health. In WvW, when health drops to 10% pretty fast, getting health to 35% is not enough – with that cooldown. In WvW, 20 seconds is long time.
If a gameplay video recorder can record just the bottom of the screen, I could try record actual cases. Many times it feels like the health does not increase by 1/4.
My joy about scepter/staff was short. Here is combat log about situation in which I went to tower to safe when 3 enemies in WvW approached. I had full rapid. Compare the damage done by enemy and done by my mesmer.

After staff I switched to scepter, but apparently it did not hit because warrior moved sideways and slow projectiles were too slow. I checked that warrior’s health did stay at 100% – no signs about damage done by me.
I actually started to use scepter and staff yesterday – and enjoy them. Some months ago I purposedly tried to learn to use scepter, focus, and staff in PvE, but had to stop within an hour.
I switched to scepter because I wanted to have one-handed ranged weapon in WvW. People said it is a condi weapon, and so I have now full rapid gear. Rapid was choice because I wanted toughness as well. Precision is nice too. Runes are Balthazar as suggested by Vashury. I use torch as well.
I use Earth and Frailty in staff – 2 sec cooldown just looked promising. Scepter has Fire; Torch has Smoldering.
I like the visual effects of scepter and staff. The purple balls fly to where you look at – when no foes around. Looks great. Skins are Princess Wand, of course, and Imryldyeen.
I just noobly hit scepter 1,2,3 when they are out of cooldown. Swap to staff for 1,2,3. Sometimes I press 4 for the great visual. Have not yet used staff 5. And in EotM yesterday, the scepter seemed to work well. It could be the block of scepter 2 which helped most.
Traits are 0 2 6 0 6 – see my other post for motivation. PU and IP are the mains here. I’m willing to test MoD instead of IP.
Duelling has III – retaliatory shield – I hope it works with scepter 2.
Chaos has III, VIII, XII. The first two III and VIII are just random selections. Faster blink. I don’t even know how to interrupt in this build. What would be better choises? V and X?
Illusions has II, VII, XI. Retaliation and one additional bounce.
I buy ascended trinkets the following way:
-Amulet from wvw laurel vendor – 20 laurels + 250 BoHs
-Accessories from the guild vendor – total 24 gc + 10g
-Rings from fractal vendor – total 20 pristine fractal relics
Rings can be purchased from wvw laurel vendor for total 50 laurels + 500 BoHs but total of 70 laurels is costly. In any case, Lion’s Arch laurel vendor is too expensive.
So, mesmer have to avoid using certain weapons in PvE? And one should avoid playing mesmer in PvE? w t f
Gates can be taken without rams. The start is slow but end 30% goes easily. If they slightly fix the gate in middle of our attack, it can be taken down without rams.
Mesmer’s weak power can be seen when enemy rams are destroyed. I use all what I have with gs + sword/* and shatters, but it takes minutes. Warrior and the like melts the ram down pretty fast. They always come to help.
