Well, they don’t move, so once you’ve found a good spot to finish this at it’s faster and cheaper than convincing someone in LA to jump for you.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist but the introduction of ascended gear was done poorly (FotM only!? come on) and reeks more of a knee jerk reaction to a lack of end game perceived by many and the significant drop off of the player base.

If that’s what it looks like, it’s because that’s what it was.

To be honest, there currently is no value to achievement points at the moment

Some people find them as much a point of pride as others find flashy particle effects on a weapon to be.

I like free stuff!

I don’t like free kicks in the groin!

You need to learn to be more grateful.

You shouldn’t have to. But I shouldn’t have to take 5 months to gear all of my characters because of calendar-gating. Let ME repeat the dailies as many times as I have characters, or let me buy my amulets with the Pristine Fractal Relics I’ve already earned.

Yeah, well there’s more of us than there are of you, and we spend more money, so there’s no way they’ll cater to you.

It can be done with ease over the month with a combined effort from all my characters.

It can be done with ease over a month with just one character.

OP plays too much.
Dailies aren’t your way of gearing up anyway, why even concern yourself with it?

Dailes ARE your way of gearing up, now. They’re the ONLY way to get ascended amulets.

Don’t forget that the fractal system employs a daily reward structure itself.

Ok so once again. You’re given free stuff in addition to old rewards. Would you rather them not have laurels and more rewards at all?

You’re the only one insisting that it was this or nothing. How about a different system altogether, rather than just a rework of an already existing daily achievement system?

That makes no sense. It’s something better automatically because it’s in addition to the original daily / monthly rewards.

Just because it’s new to the game does not make it inherently better. The basis for your argument is flawed.

At least try to defend the system itself, but stop with this nonsense that any change to the game must be good simply because changes aren’t guaranteed.

It’s something extra for just about the same amount of work. They also said they’re adding more ways to get more laurels in the future.

There’s no reason to complain about this. The alternative would be a coin & some karma for the daily.

That’s better.

Anyway, for some players it’s not “just about the same amount of work.” From my own perspective, I was able to accomplish the old dailies through 10m or so spent in EB covering 75% or so of the daily requirements, and the remaining 25% being completed in virtually any other PvE content.

Having a crafting requirement alone already throws me off, since I have no crafting skills trained, and am not interested in crafting at all.

But, because the daily achievements are now linked with an endgame reward currency, just skipping it really isn’t as attractive an option as it was under the old system.

Daily quests are fine when they’re offering more efficient acquisition of rewards than other content, but on a time limited basis (ie just coin and karma). They start becoming a problem when they have their own associated rewards.

Can I transmute Sunrise now?

Ansultares.1567

I just transmuted my incinerator, and it is being showed as orange on the chat box.

I guess a dev would really need to elaborate about that patch note better.

And be extremely elaborate in their description of what’s going on. It’ll save them some headache when they release ascended weapons, though now I’m waiting to hear that due to some technical limitation (or insert random excuse) existing legendary weapons will not be increased to ascended tier quality as was previously intimated.

Also interested to know whether it’d be eligible to scale up with ascended weapons when they launch if it’s transmuted.

You do realize long ago they said ascended was between exotic and legendary in terms of rarity and stats.

Actually, all they said is that ascended tier is between exotic and legendary in terms of acquisition effort. They also said that legendary weapons will be buffed to be on par with (ie not better than) ascended weapon stats when ascended weapons are released, but there’s even less guarantee now that this will actually happen.

I expect a answer soon, and if they are messed a REAL SOLUTION, no a " we cant do anything sorry……", I pay for my mistakes if i bug, exploit etc…. i expect that arena.net pay for their mistakes if they lie their costumers.

Don’t get your hopes up; they’ve got a “do as I say, not as I do” mentality.

New Dailies

Ansultares.1567

Grind is bad for a game. The gap between the majority of casual players and the minority of grinders is also bad for the game. When ArenaNet said, “we don’t want players to grind”, it was obvious that they were not catering to grinders. Laurels are perfect for this – a grinder is not going to get more laurels per day than a casual player, even if the grinder plays 10 hours per day and the casual plays a single hour per day.

And the casuals who might play for 2-3 hours in a sitting, once per week?

Dailies are as much the realm of no-lifers as hardcore grinds are. Worse, because of how they’re usually structured, casuals are left with just one option to advance their character – run the daily each and every day.

Traditional MMO fans, aka grinders, have half a dozen PvE MMOs to play already. GW2 is the only MMO close to something enjoyable for a PvE player who doesn’t like grind, aka isn’t deceived to become a donkey chasing a carrot.

GW2 is marginally different until you’ve acquired a set of level 80 exotics. Then, it’s basically the same, except not quite as good as some of the more developed gear treadmills.

This game isn’t that casual friendly.

It’s tailored so grinders and casual players are equalized – a grinder can play 10 hours per day, but he still won’t make more laurels than a casual player who plays 1 hour per day. This is how the entire economy should be balanced. Allowing people to get more than one laurel per day would benefit people with alts, sure, but losing this DR system isn’t worth it.

And yet this system also screws casuals. You’ve got time for three hours of gaming per week (seems totally casual to me), but they’re all on the same day? Sucks to be you, you’ll never stack laurels.

Well I can see now that GW2 is about as much of a sequel to GW1 as Diablo III was to Diablo II, as in a sequel in name only that completely misses what made the previous game good.

I never played GW1, but I’m sure you’re right (I know you’re right re:D2-D3). That said, it’s nothing new for a sequel to amount to little more than using an established brand for a quick cash grab.

Dailies suck. I didn’t like them in wow and I don’t like them in gw2. It’s a cheap way to keep people logging in and playing.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of them at all. They’re easy to develop, though, so we’ll probably see them all over the place until another generation of MMOs has failed. I also absolutely hated them in WoW, and only tolerated them here because they were so open ended (and, frankly, because they weren’t directly linked to anything particularly desirable).

Critters were a great source of different types of creatures needed for the “kill X creature types” achievement from the old daily.

EB has a wide variety of critters (assuming “kill x creature types” returns as a daily), including several locations with decent salmon spawns.

Don’t they pay people to “expect” things like this?

But yeah, that’s exactly why the keys are gone. It didn’t help that you could use 1x 80 exotic and 3x relative junk, and get the same reward as 4x 80 exotics.

You may lack understanding of what a gear treadmill really is.

You mean when they release an expansion with a level cap increase before you’ve even managed to finish a set of gear via laurels?

I give ANet a pass on ascended gear because it was supposed to be in the game at launch and they did not have time to add it.

Should they add a next tier, I will not be as forgiving.

They won’t add another quality tier; they’ll just increase the level cap. It’s actually worse than adding another tier, IMO, since at least with extra tiers the previous tiers still hold some value; level cap increases usually render any classic gear useless.

It never ceases to amaze me that the number one way to make money in GW2 is off of developer burps. I swear the economy is skewed every time some new feature is introduced.

Those “burps” are usually intentionally implemented methods for developers or their friends/family to abuse, only to be removed once they become public knowledge. To be fair, it’s also possible that some of them make it through testing because the testers have the same intentions to abuse them until they become public knowledge.

They didn’t announce it, but it was becoming problematic even before wintersday, using halloween jewelry. It seemed obvious at the time that she was disabled solely because of the keys, and that when she returned she would be key-less.

Incidentally, the so-called exploiters of snowflake recipes were using the jewelry to salvage for ectos, not trade for commendations. You’re blaming them for something that was probably correctly identified earlier in the thread; the extended disabling and unceremonious removal of keys from Lyns’ inventory was all part of a massive junk/gold sink.

Snowflake recipe and Lyns were totally unrelated. They disabled Lyns with the same patch that introduced the snowflake recipe.

Though that does raise the issue that they may have been aware of the snowflake recipe being used to produce cheap jewelry, which makes one wonder why it was even allowed to fester into a major issue, and leaves me thinking entrapment.

That’s somewhat besides the point. While a mechanic may appear balanced from the user’s perspective, it does not necessarily mean that the ability is balanced.

HB alone is balanced by the self-root, and yet look at all the complaints from people who don’t play warriors. All they ever notice is the HB+frenzy combo that wtfpwns them in two seconds, and for good reason.

A 10m cooldown ability which instantly kills one target at up to 1200 range would be no more balanced at a 15m or 20m or 60m cooldown than it is at 10m.

With dungeons relying on teamwork for success (sometimes), Magic Find is the only stat that is completely selfish and doesn’t help the team in any way.

but it doesn’t gimp the team in any way either.

Even your initial assumption, that the loss in stats can be compensated for with greater skill, supports the fact that MF does, in fact, gimp the team.

The real problem with MF is that all drop rates are adjusted down to compensate for 24/7 MF wearers. Non-MF users end up without even the hint of good drop rates.

I don’t… wait what? Are you serious?

If you are really annoyed by them, then go to an other city (all the towns have tp/bank/crafting) Or… or… Here is an idea: TURN OFF YOUR SOUND!

Yours,

A happy bell spammer

Well, you make a great case for these guys by highlighting how you enjoy griefing people with the bell.

Here is an idea: play the bell sounds locally (ie on the bell player’s client) but not globally (ie everyone else’s client).

Or better yet, just put in a toggle.

I haven’t logged in in over three weeks now; have the bell players really gotten that bad? It was only a minor annoyance during Wintersday, and thankfully most of the initial people who shelled out for bells had at least some small amount of musical talent.

Conversely…no one has any right to tell any other player who paid hard cash (just like you did) for the game how they can enjoy their time in game. If thats spamming choir bells, then so be it.

And nowhere, or at least certainly not in non-PvP zones, should players be able to grief other players. Wasn’t that the whole point of multi-tagging mobs and personal gathering nodes?

You see the guy I quote; “go to another zone” and “turn off the sound” are his suggestions. That’s a pretty drastic effect to force on other players. If it was some sort of graphics-gasm that could push clients on low-end machines to crash, I’m sure they would fix it.

Aforementioned bells being a legit part of the game. I don’t like sunglasses and ballcaps either. But I’d never say anyone couldn’t sport em if they wanted.

Nothing about the sunglasses or ballcaps induce players to change their in-game behavior.

Impressive, but it’s not like other players in-game hear it that way.

Legendary weapons stats same as exotics

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ansultares.1567

ANet has officially stated that Legendary stats will be bumped to Ascended when Ascended weapons are introduced.

They actually stated that ascended weapons would help “bridge the gap” between exotic and legendary weapons. It’s my belief that Legendary weapons will be better than ascended weapons which will be better than exotics. Basically Orange items will one day be equivalent to current day Greens . Which is a huge shame. It makes spending resources and materials for rare exotics a set back .

It was explicitly stated that legendary weapons would be brought on par with Ascended weapons at the same time Ascended weapons are released.

What wasn’t mentioned, and what many players mistakenly took away from their comments, is that current legendary weapons will be brought on par with the level cap when level cap increases come. They made no such guarantee, and it’s probably worth saving some screenshots or something of people who assert that they did make such a guarantee.

What their end strength is equivalent to none of us know for certain, beyond the fact that it has been stated that Legendaries will always be Best in Slot.

All that was stated is that the legendary quality tier was always intended to be equivalent to BiS. It’s obvious that current legendary weapons won’t be buffed to increased levels when level caps are increased, because crafting a legendary weapon is the entire endgame, and grandfathering current legendary weapons into new level caps would totally undermine that.
