Illustrious Exhausted Primordial Legendary Druid, and Mesmer for fun
PvE | PvP (1500)| WvW | Fractals | Dungeons
Hey, first of all i have just bought the game so im really newbie at this one.
I just got the skills “Viper’s nest” and noticed it is a combo field. I used this skill and saw that whenever an enemy hits the trap it releases it’s poision and the field is disappearing very quickly(1-2 seconds) so my question is why would someone use this skill in order to combo it with finishers if the field last so little time?Or did I get something wrong about combo?
Thanks in advance
Very good questions. I think the value is more in the blast and leap finishers than in the condition. Both blast and leap apply weakness—which is a silent killer. I think this would work well when facing hard hitting melee opponents with GS. Drop it and leap finish it with skill 3. You might have just enough time to leap out and in with 1h sword as well. I personally find fire aura from fire trap more deadly, though… I wish poison would stack in intensity like bleed…
Hope everyone enjoy as i did. Thanks!
Most certainly did! You are a master! Nice job with axe usage and trap placement. I’ve always wondered how to use traps effectively. Thank You!
I was looking at wolf fear, by the time I get my mouse over the condition it says 2s. Was behaving same way without trait. I’ll test other pets to be sure, maybe it only works after you take damage or something?
Sounds like it’s working then. The normal duration is 2 seconds, meaning it displays 2s for an instant before changing to 1s. If you’re seeing 2s after getting your mouse over the condition, then it’s gotta be 3+ sec duration.
Also, isn’t this one of those traits where the pet has to be in combat before it goes into effect?
Yes that’s right, you must be in combat for it to work. It’s possible that it starts at 3s. I would think the 1s difference in duration would be more noticeable?
Maybe not?
Ha ha, yeah the best way to survive in fractals is to strip off all survivability and go full zerker gear will no support. Golden!
All joking aside, celestial armor with traveller’s runes and zerker/celestial trinkets seems to give right amount of Armour to survive the inevitable damage you will take. I also hear knights Armour works well. Bring signet of stone and protect me with drake or arcdotus for 12s invulnerability to pull off revives in tough fights or if you want to aggro enemies to save allies.
If your team is really skilled, drop signets for spotter and bear for red moa. Replace protect me with Quickening zephyr. Swords, LB, axe, Warhorn and dagger all work well.
If you have less than 2400 Armour and no invulnerability you are a liability to all but the most experienced groups as you won’t be able to revive allies without being downed. As an experienced guardian, I am sure you realize how important it is to pull aggro at the right time and revive allies quickly! Guardians == GW2 masters
You’ll love ranger.

Well I think it should be 3sec with the trait..I’m testing other pets now and I don’t think it’s working on ANY..?? Even 3sec duration pets are not increasing..can someone confirm this? This is all in WvW
Good to mention game mode. I tested it in Open world PvE. Maybe I am missing something?
What are your before/after numbers? not working in PVE for me.

And could we please please please get the gold projectile animation for barrage! All my other arrows are cool. That animation would be sweet if the arrows were gold and flowery too!
+1 on golden flowery barrage!
specifically for wolf fear and hound immob. even in combat I don’t see a difference it’s always 2sec for me despite being green (changed?) in tool tip.
Yes, I tested it two weeks ago and was noticing same behavior. Not sure if this is a bug or intentional… 4s of fear would be sweet.
Entangle changes will make Fractals faster and easier. Very nice. What’s that grawl shamen? Your flamey ball thingy rejected Twice in row!?
Oh man! Predator’s onslaught is going compliment our love of ice so nicely! And the signet changes will open up so many more builds withou the requirement to go 30 deep into power… And if you do, you can now pick Longbow skills without loosing SotS!!!
Simply amazing! I love the gameplay of Axe/Warhorn and Longbow on Ranger and am so excited to see it get some love. Wonderful improvement! It became a bit weak after celestial/zerker changes. Will be great to pull this build out again!
In WvW the bags will run towards you… Most don’t know ranger is best dueling class for those with skill.
has already been there with with the max-power-no-thought style builds and is looking to move on.
Yes, you have clearly ascended to a higher level of understanding than me.
That was an amusing idea, posting on the DnT forums, which are run by math whizzes.
It is possible I started with a higher understanding.
I do have a full set of ascended carrion gear and can tell you it is really worth the investment. I also have a full set of ascended celestial and exotic berserker. Carrion is the strongest in that the damage is very high and the survivability is…well, amazing. The sixty-sixty-two ranger build works best for conditions. I am experimenting with rabid, at the moment. I think rabid is meant for SB.
I do it slightly different than you, though. I let my pets deal most of the bleeding and focus on fire, ice and poison. I also stick to melee weapons. Most of the active posters on these forums don’t understand the mechanics of the game, so you won’t get much support here—despite endless posts with percentages and fluffy math. The best way to estimate damage is using addition. Just add up the damage dealt over time against a specific foe.
Conditions are applied to foes via a weighted queue that has a size of 9. Conditions with the highest damage get moved to the top of the queue and “bump” weaker conditions down the queue. For open world PvE it is best to have over 1950 in condition to stay in the queue. The vast majority of players avoid conditions altogether, or go weakly into them (500-800) so you won’t have any trouble.
Bleed stack FIFO queuing says hi.
Unsupportive Posters who don’t know mechanics of the game say hi back:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Effect_stacking
Bleed uses weighted queue as well.
I urge you to test it ingame
Well then, you should correct the wiki, you clearly are qualified…
Also, no offense but I would kick someone that blindly ascribed to groupthink
This is a shame. People that want to run horribly subpar builds often use this line when people tell them the build is horribly subpar. It’s akin to saying there is no point in using a shovel to dig a house foundation when excavators exist, and then having the guy with the shovel say “excavators are group think, I don’t believe everything people tell me.”
I think you’re making a massive mistake crafting ascended condi armor unless you want to use it for WvW. Why not just run your build in exotics until you can figure things out?
Not a shame, and not a mistake. You’re making a mistake thinking you know the only “superior” build there is for ranger. I don’t know how to say this more plainly, we’ve all been there and realize some of the other builds have more to offer… I assume anyone who digs into conditions on the ranger has already been there with with the max-power-no-thought style builds and is looking to move on. The OP clearly states he is looking to tune a hybrid/condition style build…

Who said post Nightfall centaurs did not form an alliance with the remaining kournans? Zhed certainly got along well with the player character. He was the coolest horsey!
If the Priory did, it should be shown.
I agree. If there was a source for where Mordremoth’s name comes from (or even anyone deciding that anything happening these last couple of releases is definitely Mordremoth) then it should have been shown.
As far as I was aware, we just heard what we thought was a dragon’s roar and were investigating. It’s arguable that the vines in the area could have been something else (maybe even Nightmare Court – their absence is notable though).
I was actually interested in knowing who decided it’s name would be Mordremoth (or where that name comes from).
The wind whistling through the vines made the sound mooooooorrdreeeeemooootthhhh…..
If KasJory are Lyssa, then Braham is Abaddon, and Tiami is Arachnia.
Haha, I think Cute little Tiami would be Abaddon (misunderstood genius). Clearly the statue of Abaddon in Orr is an Asuran…
One problem though. Neither the Six or the human race are native to Tyria.
Right, that is according to human history, though. They sort of wrote themselves into history as being brought there by the human “gods.” I am wondering if the human history is messed up though.
No, it’s according to WoG.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/lore/lore/Angel-McCoy-Interview/page/3#post2821776
> Humans (including Canthan humans) were brought to Tyria (from…no spoilers!). They are not native to Tyria and did not come with much magic of their own. From a human perspective and oral tradition (that can get warped over time), they say the gods were giving them magic, but the reality was that the dragons had gone back to sleep, and the gods felt it was safe to begin returning magic stored in the Bloodstone to Tyria. The gods (not only Abaddon) “unsealed” the Bloodstone and magic flowed back into the world. Humans and other sentient races of the time began using it.
Oh, that’s a nice tidbit. Thanks! It confirms also that some of the human history is a bit messed up as well. Of course this really is kind of a moot point when it comes to The similarities between Jory, Kas, and Lyssa. It almost like they are wielding some of her power and kind of represent her. I am not saying they are Lyssa in disguise, more like they might be strongly influenced by her power. Is it possible that Lyssa and the other so called gods are maybe taking a more active role in helping the Tyrians? In an unseen sort of way?
One problem though. Neither the Six or the human race are native to Tyria.
Right, that is according to human history, though. They sort of wrote themselves into history as being brought there by the human “gods.” I am wondering if the human history is messed up though. One of The items in Scarlett’s room has history from Ogden Stonehammer, that suggests the human “gods” interacted or fought with the dragons, but that doesn’t match up with when humans think they arrived. Maybe the human history is wrong? The elder dragons are supposed to pre-date the arrival of humans by thousands of years…
Is it just me or do Marj and Kas have a striking resemblance to Lyssa?
I bring this up because of some comments made in Points of Interest, Episode 2. The designers took care to point out that Kasmeer has a power to tell if others are lying and that it is getting stronger slowly. She also is a Mesmer which is very Lyssa-like.

I usually use something like this. Cheap food and cheap runes
Easy to squash most WvW builds. You are weak to enemies who will turn your conditions or bomb you with them.
Niah is actually quite amazing, and he loves running carrion which makes him my buddy ole pal… Of course, that will put him at odds with 90% of the ranger forum stooges who are soooo much better in PvP with their “statistically superior” berserker builds… Go power rangers!!!
I’ve had really good success with Ranger runes, so I recommend those. Scholar runes only make sence in situations where you won’t be taking damage, and most interesting content requires you to take damage. (if you like pets and want a cheap set, try pirates for fun :-))
Make sure to pair your runeset with a sigil for your playstyle. Damage, precision, fraility, and strength are all good choices for dungeons. If you are using might stacking or fraility sigils run 15 in NM and use your pet! Otherwise, stick with damage/precision sigils. Simple and strong. Whatever you do, have fun!

I sort of hope the Dragons start destroying everything. It would make the living world more exciting. I agree that Timberline is beautiful, though. Moordy needs to smash Rata Sum!
I just wanted to summarize a couple of tips that might help for thief encounters.
1. Signet of stone really helps
2. Lightning reflexes
3. Flame trap*
4. Off hand torch for bonfire*
5. Greatsword skill 4 to block and counter, 5 to stun.
6. Offhand axe! Pop skill 5 when they spike you, knuc, knuc, down
7. Serpents strike will roll you behind someone who hits (tries to) you in the back
*8. Maximize bonfire and flame trap by leaping into them GS-3 and S-2
Keep pets close when they stealth, like Prysin said. Also try to get a leap on your fire field. The fire Aura is a real game changer. I usually chase after thieves in WvW. Always a fun fight, win or loose.
Edit:
9. Trait Malicious Training and bring Wolf/Hound/Spiders
10. You can sometimes chain SB-5 and GS-5 after Wolf Fear, or Hound Immobilize
11. Traps!
12. Don’t try to run after taking single hit massive damage, attack, attack, attack!
13. Follow dodge roll with attack, GS-3 or S-3. Keep pressure up.
Don’t be afraid to loose, and try again. Find the thief hang-out spot and hunt them. Even if they keep killing you, at first. You’ll eventually get to the point where you can give them a run for their money. Practice makes perfect. I’m not saying L2P, but practice to get better. There is always room for improvement, and a little practice doesn’t hurt.

Nice post. You might want to add the forge rune build. When running xx6xx, you will have a very powerful trait called Companion’s Defense which pairs nicely with forge runes and energy sigils.
I would, BUT, again, addressing this at the highest tier of competition where a S/D thief is standard right now, the moment that thief becomes aware of the runeset you are running and the effect you are going for, they are going to take your protection every opportunity they gets, especially the long duration protection you get from the 6 bonus.
…
Really though, this is a good contribution, and it does put things into perspective that even if I discuss things at the highest tier of competition, that isn’t where all players play at (most don’t), so even though the thread is basically discussing what people should aspire to play to be as competitive as possible, it doesn’t mean that where most people currently sit, their aren’t other options.
Thanks for reply! Yeah, I mostly play mid level solo queue or pickup tpvp (rarely) so I’ve never run into problems with boon stealing. I’ll keep an eye on those pesky thieves. I am looking forward to trying some of these celestial builds. Decap Engineers seem to be largest problem for this build.
Forge runes should be used with carrion, actually. I used to run apothecary at lower levels but soon realized the protection gave enough defense, so more damage output increased the effectiveness.

Pets are kind of like the icing on the cake. You can eat the cake without the icing, but it tastes so much better with it. A new ranger does not really need to worry about snuggles (pet) too much, but as you progress in the profession I think you will be heavily considering how to use them effectively in all game types. Ranger really is the pet class.
Got to agree with Archon regarding the open world case with zerker gear. I would say zerker gear is a detriment if you plan on soloing tough fights, but of course it’s always a balancing act. As long as you can kill stuff with zerker without dying, it’s obviously going to be a great contender.
So get more than one set, but start somewhere. :P The stuff you (OP) got at the temples is a solid core for WvW and open world pve, with the power/vit/toughness pieces. I think i would get zerker trinkets if i was just starting out, so that you can use them both for your current armour and that future zerker set without overspending. Then you can go from there.
Great advice! A full set of zerker trinkets is a nice place to start. It will mix in nicely with a variety of Armour sets. I combine them with celestial, PVT, and also zerker Armour (for the max zerker build). You’ll wanna eventually have a set of this in your Armour for a variety of things.
(edited by Archon.6480)
For PvE, you definitely want to go berserker. Even if you’re not playing with other people, there is no advantage to having any stats other than damage.
Full zerker is one option but under performs in many end game situations. There are advantages and trade offs with other stat combinations, depending on your play style. You won’t be balling up groups of vets and champions in zerker gear with a sword, for sure.
I know this is not going to be the most efficient damage build, but my favorite weapons on the ranger are the Greatsword and Shortbow. I love playing with both and the ability to move in and out of range with the #3 skill on each.
From what I understand, GS relies on power, and SB on condition damage. I’ve mostly specced for conditions before, and maxing the SB (so traits like piercing arrows, sharpened edges etc)
I got my first Exotic armor set the other day, but think i’ve made a mistake in buying a full Armageddon set from the Balthazar temple, as it’s stats are quite varied and has quite a bit of Toughness/Vitality.
Anyway, I’d appreciate any thoughts on traits/runes/sigils/trinkets etc to help strengthen the build around the two weapons.
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking weapons are designed for power or condition builds exclusively. It’s not true. Any weapon can be used effectively in power or condition builds. You can steer your damage output with traits, sigils, utilities, and pets. Furthermore, your damage output is a cumulative total from conditions, power, and pet. You don’t have to be all condition or all damage. Try to use both.
Thanks for the comments! I played around with ranger in pvp last night and it was a lot of fun. I need to learn how to control the sword skills so I don’t fly all over the place!
I think that once I level this alt I’ll mostly use it in pve though. I normally play ele so I’m used to giving tons of might and fury but I’m sick of relying on fire fields and conjured weapons and I just want to try something different for a change
Lastly, are axes useful for any builds? They seem like a really cool ranged weapon but they don’t really have a clear place compares to bows.
Yes. Offhand axe is very very useful in PvP. Skill 5 grants you retaliation and you can drop people when they try to spike you. Sometimes they will die before realizing what happened.
Mainhand axe works well in chaotic fights where you need to evade frequently and can’t get a clear line of sight. You can almost throw the thing backwards and it will bounce all around you. I find it a bit risky in PvP. If you can land the weakness from winter’s bite and hit a foe with split blade at point blank range it’s usually GG, but I find this hard to pull off in practice. This may be more about my skill, than then weapon, though.
(edited by Archon.6480)
I have 4 80s, (I main ele in pve, and necro in wvw, but also have mesmer, and thief, who I don’t play much anymore). I’m deciding what I want to make for my last free character slot, and ranger seems like a good choice, but I was wondering what you guys can tell me of the class.
I’ve honestly heard a lot of bad things about rangers, but my friends that main it swear by it. What is the frostspotter pve build that I’ve heard so much about (I’v eonly seen it a few times) and what other sorts of builds and weaponsets are good for wvw and pvp?
Also about pets, are some better than others? Because if they are just aesthetic I’d probably go with fern hound since I’d probably play a sylvari xD
I Highly recommend sylvari! Don’t forget to set your glow effects during character creation (so cute). :-)
The class is absolutely amazing, but you will need to master the mechanics of the game to have an enjoyable time. Many of the players on the forums have pretty bad advice, as far as the class is concerned, so I would take most things with a grain of salt. Prysin has some wonderful builds posted, so you can follow his posts for a start.
Also check out the build guide sticky (at the top) in the Players helping Players forum. You will really need to maximize the effects of what one would call support/control effects. The class is hard to use, but becomes fluid when mastered.
Celestial is the best allrounder.
Stat wise you lose 20-25% DPS compared to zerker (raw damage)
But regain some 5-8% damage from increased condition damage
And best of all you gain around 30-40% better sustain due to a good mix of HP, Toughness and healing power.
Yep, I have full set of ascended celestial. Love it. Can mix and match for many different kinds of builds.
Every class in this game is balanced and can produce high damage output, but understand Guild wars is very different from other MMO’s in that there are no dedicated roles or healers, so you are responsible for mitigating you own damage.
Follow the 101 guide at the top to get an idea of how to build and maybe choose a class. I would recommend finding a class with some weapon skills you find enjoyable and go from there.
Yeah, I have to disagree with you Emperor. This is an amazing guide, and the suggestions made will give players what they need to survive the REALLY HARD content in this game.
I’ve played ranger since launch and have completed all dungeons, fractals 50, and every other challenge you can imagine. I also am level 270 something in WvW on the Quarry, and Wolf in sPvP, which I play casually.
Make no mistake: the glass cannon “meta” builds are extremely kitten. Don’t mistake the builds used for speed runs for being necessarily wrong (or powerful) in any way. There is a reason everyone bundles in a corner, against a wall, to get through the content when using these (it’s a quasi exploit)… These builds will get you downed repeatedly/wiped in tough content, though. (Fractals, Tequatal, Wurms, WvW, tricky world events, etc.) These really are 1 trick pony builds.
I would highly recommend following the steps in this guide for just about anyone (beginning or advanced). You can derive really strong builds that will get you through anything and work very well.
The single largest reason Tequatal (and wurm) missions fail is an over abundance of kitten builds that can’t mitigate incoming damage. I love the map chat: “respawn and run back if you are double downed” when 20 bodies are floating around under his belly!
It would be better for everyone if they just logged out…
You really can, and should, build to your play style.
(edited by Archon.6480)
This is something I’d like to see.
If your team can finish the dungeon within the time limit – bonus chest.
If your team kills every mob in the dungeon – bonus chest.
(the closest thing we could get to vanquishing from GW1)
If your team completes every event in the dungoen – bonus chest.
(When was the last time you saw a group do the ghost event under the stairs in AC?)Most of all I’d like to see tiers of these things, like bronze, sliver & gold. I’d also like them to stack. As in, a team finishes within the time limit to earn a silver / gold chest but they also completed every event on the path to earn a gold chest for that. They just earned two bonus chests.
Vanquishing and speed runs were both in GW1. Loved them both. Great idea!
There are rumors that the airship was supposed to follow Zhaitan down into Arah and the team would finish him on land. Sounds like it would have been a much more interesting fight.
The main reasoning for the rumor is that there’s a very provocatively named POI in the Arah story map (“Zhaitan’s Last Stand”), but it’s not accessible. Maybe they omitted the Last Stand because they were worried that the party might not be awake after pushing 2 every 3 seconds for 45 minutes?
Or they’re waiting until they’re happy with it! I’m sure the real version is coming just as soon as they finish working on it!
lol
Or zhaitan is not dead yet. Who says we killed the undead dragon with those faulty asuran cannons. As if he would die so easily! He’s undead!
The main problem with this idea is that it’s a band-aid fix that doesn’t address the actual “issue”. Why not address the reasons why people stack, los/wall and FGS in the first place and formulate a solution based on that.
Ah yes, well this is not meant to fix stacking/FGS so to speak, as I don’t think it is broken. Please don’t let us get off topic, as this is not the intent of the kind of changes I am thinking (though I understand why it might seem that way). Think of it as ways to make stacking (or whatever) more Interesting.
Wouldn’t it be nice to hard cc some of the perma-defiant baddies once in a while. Or to have to run from that foe you just burned down to 30% health when he gets angry (cornered, so to speak)
Why do so many people think a boss fight needs to be long? Made sense in single player games, gotta give the consumers value for money after all. That translates roughly to a minimum number of hours you can complete the game in. Made even more sense in subbed MMOs, because you’ve gotta keep players around as long as possible. None of that is necessary here in GW2.
Of course, you can always create your own challenges, like the rest of us. Ever tried a duo? Solo even?
Some of the simplest dungeon paths can be surprisingly tough if you run them that way.
You make a very good point here. I would be in favor of lower HP, higher damage PvE opponents who had some interesting evasion/protection styles skills to work around. Instead of millions of hit points. I think some encounters could be improved by reducing boss hit points and increasing damage output.
I did say something to the effect of dying like piñatas, which king of implys being bounced around and only incidentally bumping you before spilling candy colored guts all over the place.

Community: Is bolded on bingo yet?
Not yet, but it’s a good candidate!
Archon: Yeah I get what you’re saying. I don’t think it’s really the case though. Unless it’s spider queen we are discussing I would need a bit more info about which bosses we are talking about. She’s not challenging to range either. (Check out my art below!)
Love the art! She’s what gave the idea, of course! So cute. You can still stack and burn her for a portion of the fight (which is cool) it just get’s dangerous to do it to long (kinda like Ashym) you can stack and burn him until he pulls his flaming staff… Then you need to adjust. Makes it fun. Malrona (cuddles) has a similar mechanic.
you might say subject alpha. I’ll give you that he is, to me, a much more challenging and risky fight while ranging. But we did that as a community. We found it was a better strategy to stack on him. That evolution tends to happen on daily run stagnant content… so sure. That buff would maybe force us to not stack. Maybe. But isn’t that really just… destroying options rather than creating them? O.o
Very good point, we don’t want to destroy options, and stacking is a nice option. I see these sort of things as creating options, though. On the defensive side. We have to delve a little deeper into the defensive arts in this way.
Anyway I can’t really think of any other boss that is cheapened really from “stacking” until we throw in fiery great sword rush. But most of us agree that unless we are record seeking cough not I cough, we really don’t use it because yes, it makes a fight boring.
I’ve got nothing against stacking. But, it does cheapen my video card a bit. All I see is wall and explosions for most fights these days.
might as well pull out the old CRT Monitor for that!
(edited by Archon.6480)
Lilith’s posts are awesome lmao
He, he. I love the spider picture. Lol
So…. Well. You could do that. It’s an option.
:) I mean, I’d settle for anything to make these guys fight back a little. As it is they die so fast…. It’s kind of a let-down. Don’t you think? You really think they fight back enough, as is?
How many people go into dungeons for a challenge? It’s more of a somewhat glorified Ori-farm. Only mildly more interesting than running from node to node. Am I missing something?
Gw1 challenges were far more challenging.
(edited by Archon.6480)
Ridiculousness at its finest.
Maybe a little OP, but you have to get the gist. Most dungeon bosses are pushovers. It would be nice it they were a bit more dangerous. I mean, tequatal is the only scary foe in the game…
Ooh, I like the idea. There used to be this glitched mission in Malchor’s leap where endless waves of undead ran down a path. It was great!
I feel sorry for all the enemy bosses being rammed/lured into the corner (or surrounded) and beaten to death like piñatas. I think they should get a new boon called Cornered, that will function similar to defiance.
Now we all know it’s a bad idea to corner a wounded animal, why should Dungeon bosses be any different?
Cornered: (15s duration)
50% increase to attack speed
30% reduction to damage
Damage increased by 150%
Conditions last twice as long
They should receive this boon if they take 20% damage while adjacent to a wall or 4 or more players and it should stack in intensity. Let’s give these foes some teeth.
Defiance should then be changed to work in a similar fashion. It should be gained if boss is hard cc’d more than once in 10s.
I’ll let Guang defend his own work if he wants, but i’ll point out a few things.
It’s a defenseless, no-good reference.
He did factor might, fury, vuln which are the main things that matter in addition to EA, spotter, bloodlust stacks.
no, he omitted them as (they will magically be there)
For the ranger, things like burning, bleeding, poison and confusion are not included because the optimal rotations do not include those conditions and any combination of weapons/traits/gear/skills will result in lower numbers. (eg. Engineer includes bleed damage)
The analysis to compare damage between classes, assumes some unstated “optimal rotation” where certain kinds of damage are irrelevant because something else will be doing it? I wonder then if those damage sources were factored into the something else? Fuzzy math.
It has a purpose, which is to be to be a safe ranged power weapon for rangers. It trades away damage for survivability.
This is a misuse. It works better at closer range, for obvious reasons. (Yes, I know long range shot does less dmg up close)
I’ve said this a few times in the past, rangers are viable but not optimal in dungeons/fractals.
Never had trouble myself. Have seen tons of less than optimal warriors, engineers, thieves, mesmers, guardians, etc. etc.
PHIW people are selfish by design, the main problem is that most people who think they are playing optimally, are the worst sort of PHIW personalities you run into. Many people bring “optimal” builds into pug groups and blow a gasket when they get wiped repeatedly because the “optimal” build for an organized group can be horrible for your average pug…. And said optimists have not enough skill to adapt to the situation.
