THE GEM SHOP PURCHASE GAME! (Real life fun guarenteed!)
I thought about this for a good while and it started making some really crazy sense. It was inspired by a post someone else made in another topic that I’ll quote at the end of this post.
Using either one of these (your preference) – create a game for yourself that will determine whether or not you are allowed to purchase gems from the GW2 cash shop.
You will need:
1) 5 Decks of playing cards, shuffled together
2) 15 Dice
Before playing:
If you should choose the deck of cards – remove all but 1 of a certain card. (EX: Remove 19 of the 20 Aces.) For the dice, all of the dice must land on the exact same number.
Rules:
Now, when deciding to make a gem store purchase. Pull out your setup of choice (the dice, or the cards) and “roll” to see whether or not you are allowed to make the purchase you are about to make.
1) If you do not draw an Ace – you are not allowed to make your gem store purchase.
2) Alternatively if you do not roll and land all 15 of the di on the same number, you are not allowed to make your gem store purchase.
Conclusion:
Doing so will add a bit of RNG to your decision and will likely result in a net GAIN of money in your pockets.
Thus! The added gambling will help ensure your bank account (in real life) stays a bit fuller.
RNG – we can make it work for us too!
I have created a 1000 sided die simulation which I will start when the new expansion rolls out. I will pick one number out of 1000. If that number comes up when I roll, I will pay the expansion’s full price. I will also pick 9 other numbers. If they come up, I will buy the expansion at a severe discount. I intend to roll this die as many times as it usually takes me to get extremely bored of rewards with extremely kittenty odds – usually around 10.
Winning through this simulation will ensure that I will have FUN in the expansion, because moving forward, no amount of Molyneuxian hype will make me purchase anything without it having a foot in a gachapon box.

I’ve been on every day except maybe one day, specifically to check what’s on sale.
I found out while doing an random AC EXP that apparently there’s “Flash Sales” where keys HAVE gone on sale.
Arena Net, I’m supremely disappointed in your despicable business practices.
https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/f52f1grouped-items.jpg
Do you know what that is?
It’s the picture from here:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/31-days-of-sales-in-the-gem-store/Where you say:
Each day in March we’re putting a different item on sale in the Gem Store! Save from 15% to 40% on boosters, upgrades, consumables and more! Each sale begins and ends at midnight Pacific Standard Time, so make sure to check the Promotions tab in the Gem Store every day in March to see the daily savings!
There’s no nonsense about flash sales, and a KEY is clearly shown.
What, exactly, are we supposed to infer from this? Don’t play games, don’t play stupid. You want people online every day checking to see if keys are on sale to see if they’ll buy some of the other crap no one wants. Crafting boosters on sale today? I woulda got 20 more of them if keys ever went on sale.
You’ve got 4 more days to not end up as misleading jerks.
If I don’t see a key sale, legit, all day, by then, I’m probably not going to buy anything from the gem store for a long, long, long time. (And you probably wont put anything new in the store that isn’t stupid in that time, anyway)
There was a sale on keys I think two days ago, probably three now since it’s Wednesday.
I contemplated buying some while they were 5/360. (20% off) But I decided not to as I’m fairly disappointed with all the gambling for new items in BLC lately.
You missed it by a few days, nothing you can do now though.

All world bosses need to be buffed when 20+ or 30+ people are fighting them.
They need mechanics that make the fight tougher. It needs to last a reasonable amount of time. They are WORLD BOSSES. Not Veteran’s, not even Champion’s.
It is really sad how they touted at the beginning that bosses would SCALE depending on how many players were near.
Then they out right admitted it somewhere, that it won’t scale past XX amount of players currently.
To be fair, they did say they are working on it. But we need to see some results, all the Dragons are jokes now with guesting enabled.

Should all classes get Stealth?
YES.
Make all your character Norns, use Panther ulti and go stealth!
Magically, all classes have stealth! Enjoy!

Totally going to spend 24,000 gems on those so all my characters can have them… along with buying 20 more char slots to place them on…

I see a rare item as being rare…hence the name rare…and I see exotic as something beyond that. I don’t think they should be this easy.
Thankfully you aren’t the majority. The rest of us aren’t this maschochistic.

Playing “up one copper” and then “up 10g for luls” with someone on the TP for Unbreakable Bells. Accidentally ended up buying one for 60g back when they were going for 70g and had 30g bids on them. (Was messing with the guy who kept outbidding me.)
Bought about 2,000 Armored Scales, watched the prices raise. Watched them lower a bit, then a lot more. Sold quickly – lost 200g profit when they doubled a few weeks later. (And took a 20g loss off my original purchase.)
Lost likely 340g total on TP trading so far.
Not really much gold considering how much I’ve made. But it still stings every now and then to remember it.

It could be that it’s an undercut by a large amount for fast sales, and in small quantities in case another person undercuts that offer.
Of course trying to artificially lower the price is definitely possible too, but then wouldn’t it be easier to offer a large quantity to do it?
Yeah it confuses me. It makes no sense at all. I mean, they are doing this, but the price is still going up because the demand is substantially higher than their supply. So really, they are undercutting themselves, because they will be getting a quick sale by matching lowest buyer. All it is doing is slowing down the increase in price at their loss as far as I am concerned.
If I buy 4,000 at 4.32 silver, and sell all 4,000 for say 17s. How am I losing anything. =P
You fail to understad, that what you consider “undercutting themselves” and “thier loss” is actually making me 400g+ profit. Your perceived loss (of say 1-2s) is lower than my perceived gain (of 400g+ net profit.) Therefor, to you it is bewildering, while to me, makes perfect sense.
4,000 scale cost: 172g 80s 00c
4,000 scale sell: 680g 00s 00c
-15% tax: 578g 00s 00c
Net profit: 405g 20s 00c
The flaw in your logic, therefor is that you assume the variables I am basing my judgement on. Except, you cannot know what I paid for something originally, and the perceived profit I make by selling it before it has a chance to drop in value.
Since neither you nor I can see the eventual market price the next day. I perceive myself as making a huge profit by selling now, whereas you perceive me taking a loss. (But in reality as my Cost is lower than my Net Gain. I have profited.)
This may not be everyone’s reason for doing so. But the profit I make far outweights any “perceived loss” someone else may believe I am taking.

Ive recently been investing in the market and as such have been keeping a very close eye on things. I’ve noticed a very unusual trend that I think is really quite unusual and cannot think of any rational reason why this would be happening.
To give an example of something I have been watching very closely a number of items I purchased, what in this game, would be a “long term investment”. I purchased a number of items going on a trend where they have been stable and consistently going up in price since release. Its had ups and downs, but the trend is up. I don’t want to reveal what it is im investing in for obvious reasons, so some of this will be made up, but proportionally it will be correct.
So these items have a current sell offer price of 80 silver. The custom offer price is 76. Less than a week ago, the sell price was 76.2 silver and the customer purchase offer was still 76. Part of the reason it went up to 80 was because I purchased a substantial amount of them and because there were only a few listed sales between 76 and 80.
But here is the unusual bit I find suspicious. There is a very frequent undercut sale being added of 20 of them at a time for 76.2 silver. The amount being sold at this price (the undercut price) is consistently the same amount. These are undercut prices are being sold almost immediately. But the price of the item is constantly going up because demand is substantially higher than supply can be.
So, I know its hard considering Im not giving out full details, but is there something I am not seeing here? It is definite that Anet is not manipulating the market in anyway? Am I seeing bots at work here?
It all depends on how many of said “item” you have.
For example, I’ll use Armored Scales here. Let’s say these are the figures I’m starting with here:
Lowest Seller: 29.3s
Highest Buyer 27.0s
To maximize my profit, I would likely and most obviously sell for perhaps: 28.50s
If I only had maybe 100 armor scales, sure why not. But for arguments sakes, lets say I bought 4,000 Armored Scales at 4.32s each when they were on sale.
Are you ready for the mind twister now and my reason for NOT selling to the Highest Buyer?
If I sell to the Highest Buyer at 27.0s – and the next Highest Buyer is 25.9s – I have just undercut my potentional profit when selling for a quick sell to Buyers. I’ve lowered the amount that people are willing to pay by 1.1s and hurt my profit.
However, if I sell for 27.1s – I ENSURE – that the highest buyer is still 27.0s. (Because I don’t fill his Buy Order and remove it from the TP.)
By selling for:
27.1s
As opposed to selling for:
27.0s – to the highest buyer
I’m ensuring the “Buy Offer” stays high at 27.0s. I ensure people are WILLING to pay for 27.1s – because I’m not much higher than the Highest Buy orders.
Doing this ensures the “Highest Buyer” doesn’t drop under 27.0s and that people are willing to meet my demand price.
It’s an illusion, a trick to make you willing to buy my price, assuming it isn’t much higher than people are willing to pay for it. All while leaving you a price to compare mine too and not make you say, “Oh he’s selling at 27.1s but the highest buy order is 25.9s so I won’t buy his.”
This way I can sell the most possible in chunks of 5-20 at 27.1s instead of potentionally losing profit by filling Buy Orders. All while selling SUPER FAST. As opposed to selling slower at 28.5s – this way by the time the “Highest Buyer” drops to say 24.3s because of people filling orders. I’ll have already sold most of mine at 27.1s and made a MINT off the scales I bought at 4.32s months earlier.
- I do not want to lower the Highest Buyer’s prices. I do not want to fill sell orders and lower the Highest Buyer’s prices, because if I do that, I hurt my chances of having a price to “compare” my goods to so that people will buy mine QUICKLY – as opposed to buying the other guys at “29.3s” and I’m only ".10c higher than the Highest Buyer.
Now the reasoning for say 5, or 20 at a time is even simpler. I want people to buy my 20 at 27.1s each BEFORE other people see it. I want it to look so good that you can’t pass it up. But to be a small enough amount that you’ll want to “I BETTER GRAB IT BEFORE ITS GONE, that’s not a bad price!” I want it to be there for maybe 20 seconds, and once it sells I re-list 20 more at 27.1s so they next person can “Get that amazing deal while it lasts.”
Until I sell all 4,000 of my Scales.

There is only one thing you can technically do now.
Once you craft the Legendary version, Frostfang. You can sell the Legendary weapon on the TP (provided you don’t equip it again, like you did with your precursor.) But the only way to sell it now, is to use your Tooth of the Frostfang to build the Legendary, then sell the Legendary.

Come on John, we all know very well that there are no GM tools that allow for the creation of items or gold. So even if you wanted to, you couldn’t do that.
Don’t lead the poor guy on
John is probably a Power Trader with 6,000+ gold. =P
#OccupySAB2014
I’d believe this more if you had asked for 10,000 gold so you could actually control the CURRENT Precursor market as opposed to the prices they used to be.
I could likely buy several Dusks right now, but that would not enable me to actually control the pricing. Not only that, but most of the Precursors, you will notice tend to get undercut over and over until it reaches a lower price range eventually. (5-6+ of the same item)
However, if you assembled a TEAM – each getting 2,000 gold each – of perhaps 4-5 players you may be able to do so now.
I happily Volunteer to be on that team. =P But I’ll use my own gold thanks, that way I get to keep all the profit we’re about to make.

A bump for Ehmry from Mags, I can’t think of any other servers that have a rivalry like this (look at the posts above), let’s get Ebay back in T4 so we can fight each other and ignore the 3rd server again.
No kidding. Maguuma is the only server that can make my blood boil when I see them in WvW. It’s not so much of a hate as a long standing rivalry. Ever since WvW began its been like this, and I honestly hope it keeps lasting until WvW ends.

Please fix Arah Path 4’s boss, “Simin, High Priestess of Dwayna”
I can understand having dungeons be challenging. I can understand having a dungeon path that takes 4 hours to complete.
What I cannot seem to grasp is why a single fight. (Simin, High Priestess of Dwayna) Is so mechanically flawed that it is near un-complete-able without a perfect party of players. In Full DPS gear. Or glitching to complete it.
We just spent 4 hours, trying to get the Sparks to sit where they should sit. So that we could get Simin low enough, to get her into Phase 2 and kill her.
4 hours for a single fight, that was unable to be completed.
I LOVE Giganticus Lupicus. One of my favorite fights.
Explain to me – how fighting a single, terrible (weak as all get out) boss for 4+ hours is how a dungeon should work? Four hours without a single team death. From a near fully geared DPS party.
We just spent near 6 hours in P4 of Arah, to be suddenly interuptted and be unable to complete P4. Because Simin took more than 4 hours for us to just, sit and stare at.
Give me 5 hour dungeon paths. But please do not give me 4 hours of a single boss with terribly broken mechanics and pretend it is meant to be challenging.

Honestly, it’s beginning to feel like they don’t even care about the players.
Nobody complains about AoE, they nerf it.
Everyone complains about something (use any example you want here) and they leave it in game.
With the exception of things like culling, Events, maybe legendary (yet to be seen) precursors, and perhaps bots (which hurt their bottom line), they seem intent on designing a game they want to play.
Everyone else is either forced to play the game the way they decide it’s going to be played, or quit.
It seems like it’s going to take 50% of the players quitting before they start to listen to us.
At least the D3 team actually listens to the playerbase now.

and adding new ways you can earn precursors as rewards via new reward systems taking advantage of our open persistent world.
People need to stop reading into things.
He clearly stated, “via new reward systems” —- AND NOT —- “via the new reward system”
They clearly stated before, that they were going to introduce MULTIPLE reward systems in the future, to make getting rewards from the persistent world better and more rewarding.
That means they will be implementing MULTIPLE systems. This new system and the Precursor Scavenger hunt as two DIFFERENT systems that will be implemented. Stop reading into things because you cannot understand the fundamentals of proper grammar.

Play 100,000 hours without dying in WvW.
I can see it now in the patch notes… If we are lucky it will be in January’s patch, then add to it in Feb.
Stop using time machines to manipulate reality. 100,000 hours would take nearly twelve years worth of time, non stop playing to get, lol.
That should get you 100 free Legendaries and all the gems you could ever spend until the end of time.

So we’ve gotten all these dailys to do every day, and each month we get to complete our monthly?
What about the Yearly? Has anyone figured out how to complete it or if it even exists yet? And if it does not exist yet, why not?
It would/should most likely have some insane requirements, but if we play the entire year. Why not?
Is there a hidden Yearly? Will we seen one soon?
I’d like to. That would be really cool.

They used to be 18-20s the piece = 50Gold for 250, Be happy
Yes, thank you a lot… bots.
But I can tell you that nobody will buy those to you for 20s, if that’s what you hope for later. Soon they won’t probably even be needed for legendaries -> Scavenger hunt. And then poof… 1s per scale.
Of course not, because it’s a precursor scavenger hunt, which means you’ll no longer needs any of the materials needs to—-
OH WAIT, NOW I GET IT.
You’ll still need T6 mats because it’s only a PRECURSOR scavanger hunt, not a LEGENDARY scavenger hunt.
Good luck hoping that with the introduction of a PRECUSOR (not legendary weapons) scavenger hunt, that people won’t need T6 mats to actually CRAFT THE LEGENDARY.
2/10 for trolling, not amused.

Yes, Black Citadel is the main Char town, and it has a Banker somewhere in it. I rarely go there so I am unsure of where it is. Just shout on map chat.
/m Where is the Banker located?
Anyone in town there should be able to show you the Waypoint closest to the Banker.
#OccupySAB2014
Go to any of the towns:
Lion’s Arch
The Grove
Divinity’s Reach
Rata Sum
Hoelbrak
Black Citadel
Hit – M – and open up your map, look for a Banker (its icon is a big bag of money.)
There are two tabs on the left side of your Bank, one is your actual bank box, the other is called “Collections”
Anything you store is stashed here for you. Scroll to the very bottom and you can withdraw your Minipet back into your inventory if you so choose. (Collections was made to keep our bank boxes uncluttered, and allow us to deposit resources from all over the world easily, to keep our inventories clean. Only certain items can be deposited, the rest must be stored manually in our banks, at a Banker npc.)
So I’ve just stored a collectible item, Mini Festive Golem.
Where does he end up? From a previous post, I was told somewhere along the lines of a banker or something in some king of invisible sack, like a backpack. But where do the things actually end up? How do I retrieve it again if I want it back in my inventory?
Any help helps. Thanks, Scyro.

They recently nerfed the droprates, by making Baracuda adds (the easiest way to get the most Armored scales) no longer drop anything.
Thus, the droprate is now more in line with Powerful Blood/Elaborate Totems/Venom Sacs than it is with the rest of the T6.

Yeah, several people I know who did the Event and got the chest – who didn’t go into an Overflow and weren’t triggered to get a second chest…
…got one in the mail anyhow. And people who missed the chest and disconnected never got one.
In fact several people not even on for the Event got them. So did other people who got the chest and had no reason for receiving a second one.
Yet, I didn’t get one like I should have.
