#OccupySAB2014
(edited by Ashadow.6874)
Ok let me then say one positive thing about this whole grind issue (as you created a special thread for the positives).
The account-bound stuff was an improvement.
Overall the grind of-course did not get better it’s still all a gold-grind. You even say it yourself.. “most of them are cosmetic.” Now imagine thats what you care about.
Most of your post has not much to do with grind like Guild finally getting last online.. What is great, still waiting for last represented. Anyway will not talk about those as it;s not related to grind..
But yes, making stuff account-bound was good, a little bit for grinding (the stuff you might want on multiple chars now requires only the gold-grind for one) but mainly made the game a little more alt friendly.
Not having to grind a second char to rank 300 individuality to gain WvW buffs. (Not grindy.)
Not having to purchase every dye in the game on each character individually. (Not grindy.)
Not being forced to purchase multiple sets of Ascended Gear/Weapons and being able to account share? (Not grindy.)
Not having to decide which character has Karma required for Karma Gear (which is soulbound) and being able to purchase recipes with any. (Not Grindy.)
Not having to re-purchase T3 cultural end game armor for 120g a set when you already have one? (Not grindy.)
Being able to play sPvP and earn Dungeon Armor/Legendary item components, when one normally plays sPvP all day long anyway? (Not Grindy. Already playing sPvP all day long anyhow, now being rewarded.)
-
Most of my post equates exactly to this game being less grindy. And none of these were there at release. So all of them are massive QoL (Quality of Life) and game improvements, all aimed at making GW2 what…
…not a grindy game.
No cosmetics are necessary. If you would like to spend your time gathering them, that is a choice. But the core game is becoming massively less grindy.
Legendary Gear taking time to get was never an issue. Making them truly Legendary (and account bound/effects) was. And they corrected that issue, and we <3 them for it.

[ Disclaimer: Please leave negativity out of this thread if possible, there are plenty of discussion threads for that. I myself have started a few.]

Thank you Dev team/others.
In regards to the past year and so of GW2’s life. The game has become less grindy and much more fun to play. They have been listening to the player-base and despite recent hiccups. (Yes Guild Missions/World Bosses/RPers.)
Since release we now have:
Account Bound:
Legendaries
Ascended Items
WxP
Wallets
Wardrobe
Dyes
Karma
They are going to change:
WvW Achievements (they are trying to find a way to make them more fair)
They have merged:
Servers via Megaserver system which despite its flaws. It allows regular players/new players to participate in more active maps.
Despite what anyone might have to say about this, I have a friend who plays the game and is new, and this has made it much easier for them to play and they see an active game.
The same zones we all played through at the start which had active players in them due to the game just beginning. Is now more filled with players once again. Giving new players/alts others to enjoy the game with.
They have also closed the gap between, PvP/PvE/WvW:
You can now earn most of the same rewards in any game mode. (Aside from Dungeons (sPvP/PvE) and LS exclusives (PvE).
PvP players can now earn armor/materials that would before have been limited to purely PvE. So players are no longer punished for playing the game how we would like.
Guilds have finally gotten:
Last Online
Which despite how long it has taken, is MUCH appreciated.
-
-
Most of the grind in this game, now comes strictly from things that are Higher End rewards. Ascended Armor/Legendaries, and exclusive Dungeon Content/LS exlusives. Fractals. (Originally stated as geared toward End Game content. The higher level of Fractals are not just meant for anyone.)
None of these are necessary to daily gameplay and most of them are cosmetic. GW2 has come quite a long way and is certainly more easy to enjoy and better for it.
-
-
I have high hopes for the next Living Story release. And I have hopes that any of the recent problems, from the Feature Patch. Will be fixed and taken care of. Because let’s face it people. They are listening.
So again, thank you Dev team/others for all your hard work so far. We players may get frustrated with things, and we let it be known. But so far you have been doing quite a good job recently, and you deserve to hear it.

(Full Disclaimer: Sea of Sorrows (SoS) player here amused by the shenanigans of T1.)
If indeed JQ and TC are “win trading” the result of this weeks match will be:
BG: 17
TC: 19
JQ: 17
I posit to you playing of TC (Tarnished Coast) what is the likelihood with only four (4) match-ups left that JQ continues to fair win trade and give you the Tournament victory of 1st place in Gold League?
A four week fair trade rotation would play out like so:
Week 6
TC: 22
JQ: 22
Week 7
TC: 27
JQ: 25
Week 8
TC: 30
JQ: 30
Week 9 (oooh greedy JQ showing its true colors?)
TC: 35 (33?)
JQ: 33 (35?)
So TC what exactly are the odds that the only server in this game, with an Ego as big as BG (Black Gate) is going to simply allow you to roll off with a 1st place victory?
Sure, you can keep up the trading alliance until the last week…
But what if the last week TC takes it upon itself to give BG a bit of revenge (putting JQ in second where they don’t want to be), or convinces SoS to help them dethrone BOTH T1 servers in a single Tournament?
-
-
So TC you have chance to topple T1 entirely for the tournament (ousting both BG and JQ from first place)… what do you do TC? What do you do.
Do you choose mediocrity? Or do you roll over the top T1 servers and show them you belong in T1?

Thx guys. Seems my GW2 career just reached its end.
To requote what someone else said in case you did not read it:
with a good provider I can play well enough without having to worry about lag. Possibly a delay of mere milliseconds that I hardly notice.
Thailand has better internet than we do so moving to NA would be a nice idea.
He/she was saying that yes your ping will likely not be a problem were you to transfer to a US server.

Like I said in another thread. It is another fool who thinks the Precursor market can be manipulated. (Queue some poor sap losing 100’s of gold in listing fees from trying, when the next few Sparks come out of the Mystic Forge and people undercut him back down to 1,000g or less.)
50 is just a number and anet can make the calculation and when you look tp there is dagger precursor 1700g now
so relax
If you ever watched the markets for a while, you would know that that 1700g dagger will sit there for the next 2 years. (Unless they remove it and relist it once they are undercut back down to 1000g or less.)
It is just yet another fool who somehow thinks they can manipulate the Precursor market. When all well established TP players know it is impossible. (With confirmation that everytime someone tries, the market corrects itself and someone loses hundreds of gold in listing fees.)
hello
sell precursors for blackliontickets (like 50?) to limit there price and stop precursor inflation
thx
So you essentially want to limit the precursor price to… somewhere between 1500g-2500g gold?
Unless you were entirely unaware of the Black Lion Ticket value of 30-50g+ (depending on how long a skin has been out.)
Forgive me if I find this slightly humorous.
I really hope they are still looking into swim suits for the summer the school uniform I guess can be left up for debate but we absolutely should have swim suits.
I am eagerly awaiting Summer hoping this happens. Will be spending a lot of time in Southsun then just for laughs. xD
If you put your runes/sigils in salvageable items, you can actually do it for 12 gems. Black Lion Salvage Kit ensures you get the upgrade back, and is no more destructive than transmuting to move the Rune. You’ll even likely get a few ecto/dark matter from exotics.
So if your Divinity/Strength/Perplexity Runes or Bloodlust/Renewal Sigils are in Karma/WvW Gear then what?
You cannot salvage Karma/WvW Gear and so you are forced to buy an Extractor. Because the Transmuation Stone no longer exists.
The Black Lion Salvage kit does not work in this scenario, when for some people (Karma/WvW) it is impossible for them to do so. That is not a solution to the issue.
(edited by Ashadow.6874)
The worst part of the latest patch. Is the sudden price hike to move Runes/Sigils.
Prepatch: 50 Gems, Transmution Crystal ($0.62 cents)
Postpatch: 250 Gems, Extractor ($3.12 dollars)
How is this acceptable?
People are trying to pretend this is only about the Karma/WvW Armor fiasco, it is not. (Or suggest using a Black Lion Salvage kit which is IMPOSSIBLE to do with Karma/WvW Gear.) There is a very clear 200 Gems price hike to move Runes/Sigils. Not gold, but GEMS.
People who support Anet by buying Gems with $£€¥ are being charged 200 Gems more to retain the same functionality they paid 50 Gems for before. Now being charged 250 Gems.
(edited by Ashadow.6874)
You couldn’t extract them, but you could transmute them onto another set of armor (different looks or stats).
Moving is a form of extraction. So the problem is you use to be able to buy exotic karma item, assuming you have a lot of karma, and move the rune/sigil onto a different exotic with different stats. You didn’t care about the skin or the stats of the exotic karma item, but it was a “cheap” way to get the rune/sigil.
The problem with this, is that some of us bought the Karma gear for stats, and not the runes. Then we socketed our own runes (divinity, perplexity) that we could before move to a new stat combo.
But because Karma armor isnt salvagable and the old transmutation stones are removed. If I want to move my perplexity from Rabid to Rampager I cannot. I am out 48g from having to buy new Perplexity runes.
When it HAS been possible to move them before the patch and for over a year. Now suddenly, a functionality always there is being taken away. With a new alternative being twice as expensive as the most expensive runes in game.
We’re being bullied into either trashing our runes, or being overcharged (250 gems extractor vs 50 per transmute stone)[/quote] or trashing our runes.

I got to thinking a moment ago that what the Control aspect of this game lacks is a variety of ways to control team fights.
We have so far:
Blocks, Fear, Walls, Reflects, Condi re-directs, Knockbacks, Knockdown, Interrupts, and Immobilize.
The problem with these is that they are all (aside from Reflect/Condi re-direct) the same type of control. Movement Control/Skill Control that allow you to still take damage.
-
-
What could be refreshing and intersting in WvW Zerg fights are a different type of control:
Displacement Control
To describe Displacement Control think of:
Blink, Shadowstep, Portal, Rocket Boots.
Now imagine the inverse but being able to do it to large groups of players with new skills? I am not talking about movement control, or skill control. I am talking about being able to move enemy players the 1200+ range that some skills can move us already.
Not immobilize and then DPS them to death. But completely displace them from combat entirely.
Situation: 20-30 man Zerg roaming the map, all you have is small havoc groups.
You have 5 players in your party, you charge the enemy Zerg, Stealth with a Thief or Veil/Mass Invis with a Mesmer.
Run into the Zerg, grab 2-3 players, push them 1200/1500 (yes I said 1500) range away from the Zerg. Kill 2 or all 3 and then run from the Zerg. Rinse, repeat.
Small, tactical organized strikes that do not force you to confront the entire Zerg 5 v 30. But allow you to split the Zerg up and needle it away right out from under their feet.
Make a Zerg think twice about taking something. When you’ve got a small force systematically destroying their Zerg (over time) without having to 5 v 30 that Zerg to no effort.
Imagine Chain Displacing several players? It may sound awfully annoying, but it does sound awfully fun as well.
-
-
If you’ve got a creative idea for new types of Control please add it to this topic. Support so far makes sense, DPS makes sense but Control could be a lot better in very interesting ways.
(Imagine if Mesmer GS 5 wasn’t a silly 450 Range and it was 1200 Range. And you didn’t avoid it by dodging or Stability? Now THAT would be control.)
Give the skill ultra long CDs if you want. They don’t need to be used continuously, but just to great effect.
(edited by Ashadow.6874)
Bump. Bumpity bump bump bumpsky.
Please do not bump this topic just for the sake of bumping. It is not helpful. And they closed down the last rather important topic because of that.
Stick to the discussion at hand please.

The easiest solution I believe is simply making all Karma and WvW armor have a Gold Cost from the NPC. (This would negate entirely the Ecto/Mats salvaged and make it worthless to break down for Sigils.)
The Karma sigil are already soul/accountbound if I remember correctly.
I’d prefer just to be able to salvage WvW gear (even with no globs) to get the sigils back.
Or, reduce the price for extractors, and make the result (sigil/rune) account bound. Removes the issue of easy profiting. Why the hell would anyone buy an upgrade extractor at the moment? If you buy gems with real $$$ you may as well just trade it for gold and buy the sigils yourself.
Exactly. It should work like:
Karma Gear salvage:
Rune only
WvW Gear salvage:
Rune only
Or just allow them to be salvaged period if it is too hard to make them only drop the Rune.
WvW Armor costs 1g + tokens (negating the 1-3 Ectos) and Karma Gear would only net you (for example with my 4.5million Karma). Around 78g selling on the TP for 4.5million Karma.
I could make more gold in two days running dungeons than salvaging 4.5million worth of Karma gear. And any Ectos given this way will simply be sold to the TP and reduce gold by 15% in game. (Thus being a gold sink instead of gold faucet.)
In fact, tack a GOLD COST onto Karma Gear and all WvW Armor that doesn’t already have a gold cost. Problem solved. Salvaging Karma gear for Ectos will result in a NET LOSS of gold. No reason to salvage it for Ectos.
(edited by Ashadow.6874)
Guild Missions this week are impossible.
YAY MEGASERVER SYSTEM…
…not.
To those that are asking for a lower price on the upgrade extractor:
It wouldnt make a difference because Anet doesnt control the gold/gem rate.
Imagine the extractor is available 50 gems/5g.
What would happen? Everybody would get it via gold->gems to extract runes and sigils that are worth more than 5g because its pure profit.
That would make the gold to gem ratio rise and lower prices of the runes that are more expensive than 5g sue to added supply. At some point, it would level out again because it costs now 10g to get 50 gems and the most expensive runes and sigils are 10g now. We would be in the same situation as before only with a highly inflated gold/gem ratio.
^ agreed
The better option would simply be to allow us to salvage Karma/WvW Gear but have it only give back Runes and not other materials.
So far it is pretty consistent that no one even cares about getting Ectos/Mats from Karma or WvW Gear. What we want is to be able to retrieve our Sigils/Runes when transmuting. (As we were able to do prior to this patch.)
There needs to be a viable way to do so.
Please continue bumping this topic and add your comments here in the thread below:
So that we can keep it all in a single place and perhaps be able to be heard. The thread has been going for 3 days now and already has 1,500 views. (Hopefully some of which have been Anet Devs and hopefully we can gather a fix for this.)
The Transmutation Crystals/Stones had much more functionality than just moving Skins. It allowed us to move our Runes/Sigils, especially with Karma/WvW gear.
Hopefully they take notice of this and make an effort to provide a fix.
It is not like we are asking for something to be added to the game. The functionality has been there for the entire game so far. And was only recently and I would hope, accidentally, removed with the last patch.
Please find a way to allow us to move Sigils/Runes from Karma/WvW gear to new gear like we have since the game began. Please do not take a functionality away from us that we have had since the beginning.
(edited by Ashadow.6874)
Please add your voice to my thread over in the Black Lion Trading Forums (since it is about Transmuation/Extractors and sigils.)
This way it all gets heard in the same place and the thread can keep being bumped.
The thread has been alive for 3 days and I would like to think they are taking notice. (Since it had not been merged/closed.)
Buy low, sell high – flipping, right?
The thing is, how do you find the things to buy?
And isn’t the process painfully slow?
It is entirely speculation, for the most part. Even when you get information from Anet hinting on changes to the game. (Like how it was mentioned Runes/Sigils would change. Runes stats would change, and the Sigils CDs would work together now.)
The best way to start is to search the Trading Post for items that have a gap between the Buy/Sell orders and to start really low (like 1s-5s) and play with it a while to make some copper profit. Once you get comfortable, try bigger items. (5s-25s) And keep going from there.
Once you get that part down pat, start paying attention very closely to any news Anet lets out. (Like the mention of changes to Runes/Sigils, the changes to Legendary Weapons that account bounded them, and prompted prices of Precursors to shift upward. The announcement of the Precursor hunt (when it comes, and then the prices of T5-T6 mats and Cores/Lodestones when it happens.)
It is almost entirely 100% speculation and guessing. Once you do it enough you can lower your error margin. (Or get as close to a 50/50, 40/60, 30/70, 20/80 guess as possible. Which changes depending on what you are dealing with.) You can only make money, or lose it.
-
-
Once you have enough money saved up, a good 500g+ Start making some long term investments. You can even invest in Black Lion Skins when they are at 1 ticket. (Because they usually stay around 30-70g.) But eventually they go up to 5 tickets/7 tickets and given enough time will rise to around 30-40g a ticket cost. (So they start around 30-70g but will eventually go up to 150-210g given around 3-9 months time.)
(edited by Ashadow.6874)
So I have spare 100G, been running dungeons so much I no longer want to do it.
I’ve never flipped anything before and to be honest I have no desire to sit on TP.Suggestions?
And no, I’m not sending gold to you.Dont send gold to me, send gold to my trading account.
Honestly, if you never flipped before or played around on the tp, be prepared to lose some gold. Many people claim its easy to make profits on the tp but you actually have to put some effort into it and the time investment is also a little bit higher than people want you to believe.
I could tell you plenty of things, i make good profit with atm but, if I would mention it here, you wouldnt be the only one to come onboard.
The trick to lots of profit on the tp is lots of research and knowledge of the market.
That will take as much time as you spent in dungeons and your profits wont be that great for the first 1 or 2 months.
Do some research and send me a PM with items you think are a good investment and why you think so and i will tell you my opinion about.
^ Could not agree more.
Yes I can earn gold quite easily on the TP now. But it was not like that when I first started. I have lost probably more gold than most people have ever had.
You have to be prepared to take big losses at first, and to consider them part of the learning experience. So do not jump on the biggest thing you can, start with small items that you can make a small amount of profit on.
And diversify, never buy just one thing you think will make you money. (You will likely lose on one, but make some gold back on another.) Which is a very valuable lesson. Because this will happen quite often.
I speculated on Runes AND Sigils both before the new patch. I sunk in roughly 100g between the two of them.
The Runes made me nothing, I barely broke even. But the Sigils turned a massive profit. (Also never sell your entire stock at once — try to sell roughly 50-75% of them when they go up high enough to your liking. And then keep the rest in case they continue to rise.)
This way you make a nice chunk of gold and cover your original cost + considerably profit. I always like to keep a few left over that are practically free (since I paid for the cost and profited already considerably) in the off chance they go even higher later.
If they do not rise later: no real harm. If they do: more profit.
So apparently someone in a guild I am currently in was last online… 136 years ago.
Yes the last time they logged into GW2 was 136 years ago. Think I’m joking, look at the screenshot.
3 months and still no response, on purposefully removing the only way to transfer Runes to new gear, and then adding Upgrade Extractors at 5x the cost — in $$ (real money) — of Transmutation Crystals.
Original real cost to move Runes/Sigils in WvW/Karma/Order armor using gem store items (only current possible way):

List of currently un-salvage gear that can cause expensive Runes/Sigils to become trapped, at the bottom of this post.
Hopefully this list at the bottom helps players understand the risk and sways them from buying Karma/WvW/Order armors to socket Runes/Sigils in until something is done about this issue.
-
[Edited to update and also to input list of un-salvage gear that can trap Runes/Sigils in them. And actual cost. Changed some of the original post’s language to be more constructive. ]
Post updated a bit. To better raise awareness of true issue.
Can something be done about this please? You removed the ability for us to use Transmuation Stones to move Sigils/Runes to new pieces of gear.
-
Example #1:
Example #2:
-
The option to do so existed before the patch. We are not asking for something new. But for something to not be taken away from us.
It does exists now (upgrade Extractor) but at 5x the original cost. (50 gems Transmute Stone -> 250 gems Extractor.)
I want to believe this wasn’t intentional. And that something will be changed soon. (Either a price lower, a new Gem store item, or Salvagable Karma/WvW/Order gear.)

Level 80 – WvW/Karma/Order armor salvaging isn’t profitable.
Maximum value of ecto profit if salvaged: (Full set of WvW/Karma/Order armor — using current value, will fluctuate)
thus the reason why it is pointless that they cannot be salvaged

Not everything found in the dat will be implemented into the live game.
Just because it won’t, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be. =P
What, no link for the swimsuit?
Don’t have links for them no.
Kasmeer and Faren were wearing them, and the random NPCs in Southsun near the SE Gate are.
So… what is the ETA on these in the gem store. They are very clearly somewhere in the games code already, and we are still waiting.
Just wanted to make sure they knew we are still waiting. And no we have not forgotten yet.
[Edit]
[&AgHFpwAA] —- Again, still waiting.

There is data mining evidence (months back when we only had like 8 slots I believe — instead of the 12 we currently have, proof they will likely continually raise the cap) of there being 15 bank slots we can use.
However, when they released the limit they raised it to 12 instead of 15. So we know eventually we will have 15 bank slots, most likely a lot more.
Whether or not it is safe or smart to buy past 12 currently and hold onto them for when they raise the limit or not, is anyone’s guess. (A friend of mine has 12 bank slots, and bought 3 more bank expanders on sale to be ready for when they raise the cap.)
(edited by Ashadow.6874)
I purchased 1 Marjory Dagger when they were first released. Waited until the re-release a week ago and happily got 3 more only to hear about the new wardrobe being released next month only days after. This essentially wasted 600*3(1800) gems. Figured it was worth a try to submit a ticket for gems refund and was denied; even after a couple pokes.
I know they dont ‘have’ to do anything, so please dont remind of it. Its just a lame thing to do a loyal customer and thought I’d pass along the experience in a PSA sorta way.
Buyer beware!
They stated quite clearly:
UNTIL the patch hits. They will not be doing anything about duplicate skin purchases.
So wait until the patch hits, see what their policy is and THEN request gem refunds.
(You will likely get your refund in gems if you wait until then, and stop prodding them to do it now. Which they very clearly and explicitly stated until the patch hits nothing will refunded. Until it hits.)
So wait patiently for the 15th. (I’m sure they have a system that can VERIFY duplicates, just like the dye system will.)
Which will allow them to check, see that you have 3-4 sets of the same armor. And then their staff can check, okay you for the refund and give you gems back.

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had any vaugue ideas on how the turnover is on these shields? I want to place a buy order for approx 1400g (got impatient grinding all the way to 1650) but feel like I might be wasting time due to poor turnover rates and/or change in price. Anyone feel confident or skeptical about this decision?
It was a one time only drop from the first Halloween of GW2. It will not be dropping ever again. It was stated, for now by one of the Devs, that it would not be returning as a drop.
(They could reverse this, but at this point they have no intentions of having it drop ever again.)
The only time buy orders get filled, thus, is when someone who owns one currently decides to sell one. So you will have to wait until someone decides they want to sell theirs.
Bug Fixes:
Improved server performance.

Just in case you all weren’t aware… that is not Super Adventure Box. But it should be.
Just getting that out there…
You should probably see if something went wrong, pretty sure that was meant to be SAB.
Who here is going to be super pumped if SAB appears tomorrow after Patch?
I cannot wait for to do more new Tribulation levels. (Yes, I am one of those terrible people who enjoyed Tribulation mode.)
Thank you for your replies.
My main reason for posting this was to see if what I thought was correct, and to find players that share my opinion, and how they feel about it.Yes, this whole thing has pros and cons. It will be awesome that I can use my si- oh wait, five legendary skins (one is useless after all) on all my characters, and it’ll also be awesome to use all the dyes.
And yes Grace, you are absolutely right. In reply your post doesn’t give much to reply to either, since I am aware
My main reason for the dislike (though don’t get me wrong, I do like many things about this patch) is that I do genuinely think legendaries will become quite common (as you said, make a level 2 necro with some incins or w/e, we can have dozens!), a lot less unique, and will therefore make me feel less exclusive. Something I like in mmos. Sure, you may see this as ‘oh god, get over it.’ – it is simply a personal reason that I’m sure some do share.
Oh no!
The SAME PEOPLE WHO already HAD THE LEGENDARIES in the first place, will have a few more of them now?
See what I did there?
The same people who already had them (since only people who already have Legendaries get them added to their wardrobe) will have them after the patch! The Horror! The Shock! The Awe!
Less exclusive Legendaries… because… the same people who… already had them… will have them…
See what I did there? Did you really see what I did there?
If so, what in the seven hecks are you worried about?
YES!
Now we only have to craft 1 Stat Combination of Ascended Gear for War/Guard, 1 for Ele/Mes/Nec, and one for Ranger/Engi/Thief.
And Legendary Account Bound Weapons! YES! OH MY QUAGGANS, YES!
Can this guy be on the Living Story team please?
After just reading his diagrams, I feel more passion for what happens/could happen in GW2. Than the ENTIRE STORYLINE OF SCARLET could ever hope to make me feel.
Why couldn’t we get some of that for the last fifteen months?
Simplest possible fix ever:
Convert ALL Town Clothing (regardless of if it is a single piece, or multiple pieces) into Armors.
Why are they going for the hard fixes, when the simple fix is right in front of them. Stop differentiating between Town Clothes/Armors.
Instead of creating tonics, destroying people’s looks and ruining parts of the old Town Clothing system — JUST — to satisfy people who have wanted a Wardrobe.
Why not allow us to have all Town Clothing simply converted to being armors.
-
-
We already deal with massive clipping issues as it is on some sets of armors. Not many people will care THAT much more that their new armors clip if they can actually use them as armors.
-
-
Please stop adding more limitations — and introducing worthless tonic versions of things — that can be done within your current new system.
And please do not combine this post into the massive disappearing walls of the new Wardrobe topic.
We are discussing the removal of Town Clothing entirely in this thread, and the conversion of them into Armors. (To avoid having any cosmetic damage to current Town Clothing people wear.)
We have come a long way, removing a lot of limitations that make this game a pain to play. Why would adding more, odd, unnecessary limitations be a good thing?
You are already removing the limitations from Single Town Cloth items, and making them armors. Why can’t the same be done for ALL Town Clothing Sets?
(edited by Ashadow.6874)
Inb4 Abaddon, sleeping inside of Kormir takes her over and returns. Silly mortals, trying to hold down a god.
(Since even Kormir stated that “Abaddon” sleeps within her.)
I don’t know how many other people stopped into Lion’s Arch and took a moment to actually look around and let it all settle in. (Read: Allowed the emotional state of the city to do its job and immersed oneself in what has happened.)
Without any enemies to distract you from the environment, and tons of people bustling around.
Lion’s Arch is somber, silent, sad and the atmosphere is heavy. Ashes fall from the sky, the sun hazily pokes through the clouds and even the blue sky is a grey brown, rays of light sparsely poke through as if there is no room for the sun in the city. It is just a city of course, but if Lion’s Arch had been a person, you would be playing a funeral march for it now.
The buildings are still destroyed, the light house is gone, the Lion is still cleaved in half in it’s death throes and the bridges are all crumbling and broken to shards.
Walking through Lion’s Arch… I don’t feel like I’ve won anything. All I feel is sad, incredibly sad.
All I have to say is this is spectacular. Bravo.
Magus Falls? Read on to see where Magus Falls is mentioned as being where Mordremoth likely is.
It is also hinted when you meet Malyck that another Pale Tree exists in this area. Sylvari Dragon minions?! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Even if not from our Pale Tree.
Again I repeat… YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

[From GW2 Wiki — http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mordermoth ]
Mordremoth is the Elder Jungle Dragon, and the most recent dragon to awaken.
Mordremoth’s existence did not become apparent to most Tyrians until early 1327 AE, when Scarlet’s Alliance invaded Lion’s Arch, drilling directly into a ley line intersection beneath the city using a giant airship-drill, the Breachmaker. This resulted in a magical chain reaction, culminating with the awakening of an Elder Dragon somewhere west of Thaumanova Reactor, across an arid plain in a vegetated area presumed to be Magus Falls.
Mention of the sixth Elder Dragon have been found in ancient dwarven texts, although no details were ever made clear. Additionally, the Inquest had been conducting experiments structured around the assumption of six Elder Dragons for a while, indicating they had some prior knowledge of its existence.

Magus Falls
Magus Falls is an area west of the Tarnished Coast, just beyond Rata Sum. It contains the areas once known as Magus Stones and The Falls.
It is hinted in Malyck’s branch of the Sylvari personal storyline that another Pale Tree exists somewhere in this area.

Heal-o-Tron will become Death-o-Tron.
He convinced Evon to make him amazing armor… because he was planning on stealing the weapons from Scarlet’s base…
…and becoming Death-o-Tron, the destroyer of worlds.
Good game, Tyria, good game.
I would buy a lot more Black Lion keys with $ if I knew I could re-sell and re-roll some of the garbage items I will never use from them.
Because at least then I would have the following mindset:
“At least I can sell some of this and try to get something I will use. Perhaps some more Transmutation Crystal instead of boosters.”
Instead of the now mindset of:
“Great more junk I’ll just keep in my bank until I decide to quit this game.”
And this is in no way because I want to quit the game. But because having something I paid for (even if it was a tiny amount of gems for a gambled chance at tickets/scraps) still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
At least let us sell the items we do not want back to 1/2 or 1/3 their value so we can spend them on something we might like instead.
You have to understand — it does not matter to your playbase whether they paid for these things in $$$ or in game gold or even random chance from a RNG Chest. To ArenaNet this might matter, because you want successful profits for your company. To your playerbase, we don’t get a share of your profits.
So anything that seems like a loss for us in any way, hinders us from wanting to contribute to your company profits.
Gambling in games is fine. As long as we can RESELL some of it and take less of a perceived loss. (Because it is that perceived loss part, that makes your player base bitter.) Instead allow us to make a perceived profit from a bad situation. Thus, making us happy campers instead of rude, mean, spiteful players who think we’re being bamboozled.
We know the Black Lion Chests are chance. You know they are chance. We take a risk buying them.
All we want is to not be screwed 100% when they contain things we don’t want. Why can’t I sell back the prizes to the gem store at a small profit, or to other players when I clearly do not want them. And someone else might.
Heck why can’t I give them away to someone who will use them.
Allow us to have a better experience in the Gem Store. And we will use it more.
[P.S. For anyone who is about to start the you don’t have to buy it argument. Please don’t. Be constructive instead. If you bought something in real life that would give you “a chance at several different items.” Would you be able to sell some of the stuff you got to someone else or give it away in real life? Or would the police tell you, “You won that sir, you are not allowed to give it away or resell it. Because it is yours and you paid for it.”]
No they would not. They’d gladly let you go to Ebay and resell at your hearts content. For whatever you could get for it.
Please seriously consider doing this. Maybe I’ll spend $$ on the gem store again instead of just trade post farming to make gold and doing Gold -> Gems. (I spent a good deal at the start of the game to buy gems with $. (Feel free to check how much money I spent on my account before.) Then I got bitter at having so many Account Bound items that should be re-sellable or able to given to people I know who want them.
So I decided to learn the Trade Post Wars, and farm the TP for massive gold and do Gold -> Gems. So I could get Gem Store items without feeling like I was being laughed at for supporting a company that deserves supporting.

I suggest coming to FA. This will help balance out T2 with Mags and SoS. In my opinion T2 is the best place to be for balanced game play, minimal lag and action most of the time.
FA will actually get worse rewards during the season than GoM would. Unless FA tanks the next few weeks in order to rule silver league (they already have a history of doing that). Then, in that case, pay the 2400 gems (30 dollars, right?) to transfer.
Not if all the bored WvW Guilds server transfer to the 13, 14 and 15th place servers when the Free Transfers go live and wreck FA’s face for tanking.
yeah, go play on those servers so they dont try to tank into bronze
It won’t matter if the current 3 do.
Because the free 13, 14, 15 rank servers will not be decided until the Server Transfers go live.
(So the bottom 3 can still tank into Bronze, and be replaced by 3 more servers from Bronze, to get stacked for Silver League.)
Or… they could wait for the transfers. Not bother doing WvW and keep tanking. Then dominate Bronze entirely.
Tired of the current state of your WvW?
Want to move to a new server but can’t afford it, and you also enjoy WvW?
Well get ready…
-
All transfers to the rank 13, 14 and 15 servers (exact servers to be announced) will be FREE before WvW Season 2.
So everyone get your mouses ready and topple Silver League! The prizes at the top of the Silver League will be the same for those in Gold and Bronze.
And all three of those servers (whichever they end up being) will likely be where all the good fights in Silver League will be coming from.
If you are on a server you are wanting to transfer away from. Good money (free) says this is where you will want to be.
Good luck SBI/BP and DB or possibly FA. The horde is coming for you, and their transfers will be strong.

[Speculation thread begin! 5 days left!]
What do YOU think is beneath Lion’s Arch? Please weigh in with what you think is going to happen in 5 days. Because we all know this is leading to something big and it doesn’t matter how crazy or insane your idea is, let’s see what we can come up with.
And why do you think it’ll happen?
(I am contemplating adding a prize for the closest/first idea that ends up being true, or as close as possible to the truth on the 5th!)
Let the insanity begin!

Personally, I feel like it will either be one of the following:
1) Abaddon (Abaddon being hinted at, despite how many times it is said he was defeated entirely)
2) Mordremoth (the Pale Tree, Malyck, the Nightmare Court, Caithe’s secret, Scarlet’s poison, and the truth that Sylvari SHOULD have been Mordremoth’s dragon minions and could still become them if Modremoth isn’t stopped)
3) Bubbles (Karka invasions, zone blue in the Infinity Coil, and who wouldn’t want to find Bubbles?)
And if Abaddon is truly gone and the wool isn’t being pulled over our eyes. (Everything can be set in stone… until someone decides it shouldn’t be anymore.) Then…
4) Dhuum (because if Abaddon is gone, and Menzies is still free and alive… then only Dhuum is trapped)
5) A Bloodstone. Lion’s Arch was afterall the seat of King Doric, and the Bloodstones were sealed with Doric’s blood. Two of the Bloodstones’s locations are still unaccounted for.

I disagree entirely.
If someone were to be trying to finish a JP or following a Taco killing things (keeping citizens alive), or even doing Rubble Runs. They are playing the Event AS INTENDED.
Rubble Runs are INTENDED. Doing JPs or getting WPS/POIs in Lion’s Arch, are INTENDED.
AFK’ing for the sole purpose of doing NOTHING, in a PvE zone, just to get free rewards is NOT INTENDED behavior. When Lion’s Arch was a city, it was intended people AFK for hours. Now that it is an instance that you get BOOTED OUT OF at the end of. It is not intended that you AFK in Lion’s Arch for hours on end.
The act of entering Lion’s Arch just to AFK and leech, is not intended game mechanics. (Just because you can do it, does not mean you should be doing it. Just because I can “loiter” in real life, doesn’t mean I can’t be told to “move along” or be fined for it.)
On the live servers, special Dev abilities (like immortality or teleportation) are limited to GMs, and all dev commands are logged and reviewed to make sure no one is abusing the system. The integrity of our live servers is very important to us.
It’s a shame Chris can’t use the immortality to help us kite a Wurm into the wall. Darn these morals! :P
But yeah, I’m very glad the GMs take the time to kick AFK leechers. I would go as far as calling them exploiters, since they’re abusing an in game mechanic that supposed to reward for rescue participation. Getting full credit for 1200+ rescue rewards while AFK is like buying Rare weapons for 10 Karma.
Over react much? AFK has been a part of every open meta, and never addressed until now, since it is perceived to be effecting Farmfest 2014. It has been an issue since launch and ignored. Some people are doing what they have done, with impunity, for more than a year. Now it’s an enforceable issue? Cuz bags?
Calm the rhetoric. I’d rather see 5 afks at the port in then deal with dumb zergs scaling every escort to champ level and ignoring civs.
Not sure you understand what’s going on here. When we do mass guild runs, each one of us is putting in efforts to help the server we guest to get the 1200+ loot drops. Even if there’s only 5 AFKers, each of those AFK players reap the benefits of our hard work. I’m completely fine with newbie players only doing what they can to help, since they’re actually doing something. But to let a character sit for 45 minutes and benefit for free, my opinion is that’s close to an exploit in the mechanics. But I’m sure it would be difficult for Anet to alter the way loot is rewarded without causing problems.
TTS back patting? Well, technically, every person that zones in to do a JP, explore the zone, do Achieve Events, hunt rubble is ALSO reaping the benefits of “your hard work” and not working on the civ counter. People mindlessly hitting 1 hugging a dorito are also “leaching” your civilian count.
You want GMs to also enforce those people to play “your way”?
It is not your call to “be completely fine” with what other players do. It is an open zone. If a new AFK policy needs to be in place, it should be in the TOS, effect all zones and all meta events, and be equally enforced throughout the game and not driven by players looking at one aspect of a zone full of different options and goals.
Im not in favor of unattended play, but this is all just “new event, different scapegoat”. Can’t blame bearbows, zerks, bads, etc so.. omg its all the AFK people’s fault!!
Blame. It’s what this “community” does.
His wyld hunt contract says he is only responsible for zhaitan. So he brought his fleet of pact airships on a vacation tour somewhere.
Actually Treherne’s wyld hunt was to cleanse the land of orr, and it’s far from cleansed. All that corruption doesnt go away overnight.
Indeed. That’s why if they say wanted to ‘retire’ him for the next dragon campaign, it could be explained easily and REASONABLY that he is still recovering from the drain of cleansing the source of Orr, and afterward he is heading up the clearing of the Risen and the research camps (because he is a scholar after all).
Because no one bothers with the actual personal story:
“He and his forces eventually managed to establish a forward base at the foot of the Promenade of the Gods. Near there, at the Artesian Waters, Trahearne and his second-in-command defeated the Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan and performed the Ritual of Purification to reverse the corruption therein, completing his Wyld Hunt for once and all. Casting the Ritual of Purification had weakened Trahearne, forcing him to recuperate at Fort Trinity while the Pact and Destiny’s Edge assaulted Zhaitan in the Ruined City of Arah. With Zhaitan’s defeat, Trahearne exclaimed the need to begin planning to win four more “impossible victories” over the remaining Elder Dragons."
Trahearne did his job, and left the players to do their job. (Sylvari characters’ “Wyld Hunt” is to slay Zhaitan. Trahearne never claims to do this.)
DESTINY’S EDGE tries to steal your credit. Not Trahearne. Stop qq’ing because Trahearne is amazing, and start wondering Destiny’s Edge (and Logan) takes your credit.
Only, DE doesn’t steal credit. In the end cutscene they walk out of the light behind the player, and when they stand on the shores of Orr, the player is standing with them.
However, besides that personal nitpick, I appreciate that you actually paid attention to the personal story and that Trahearne never steals credit or glory, and infact constantly states how important you are. Cookie for that!
Ah, true you are right about that. It has been a bit since I finished my story.
But yeah, that was why I never got the Trahearne hatred. Trahearne acknowledges how important you are.
Because no one bothers with the actual personal story:

What if trying to force them into destroying Zodiac Armor, makes them not want to make any other sets of Weapon Skin themed armors?
Do you want:
Wintersday armor?
Halloween armor?
Fused armor?
Dreamthistle armor?
Lovestruck armor?
Dragon’s Jade armor?
Sclerite armor?
Super Skin armor?
Why not embrace Zodiac Armor for what it is. And show the art team support.
Personally I would like to see some of these eventually. Let Zodiac Armor just be Zodiac Armor.
