[TL;DR for all the people posting. I have nothing I need or want refunded. But I do feel other players should be allowed to either get a refund or sell their unneeded items. This thread is for the people who actually need the help because they purchased extras they no longer need.]

Unwilling to refund players who bought too many Account Bound gem store tools after the new introduction of?

Account Bound bag slots

Simple solution:

Let us sell them on the Trading Post so other players will get use out of the extras we no longer need.

Remove the “Account Bound” and “Soulbound” tags of all of the following items so they can be sold on the Black Lion Trading post:

Harvesting Tools
Copper Fed Salvage’o’matic.
Silver Fed Salvage’o’matic.

You realize that it would be easier for ANet to simply refund gems to the person who bought the items in the first place (and, for reasons good and bad, they aren’t doing this for everyone).

  • Each duplicate item sold/traded means a lost sale, for the same amount of gems.
  • Buyers of second-hand items are more likely to be willing to purchase items (using gems) than those who already owning; making them tradeable, however, gives gems to the original owners, not the potential new buyers.

I’m not 100% convinced that ANet’s policy about such things is 100% sound or best for the game, but it’s their game and their gem shop and up to them to decide.

tl;dr this proposal adds work for ANet, reduces their potential income much more than a simple refund

I do agree that a general refund for people with extra tools would be best, yes. Allow them to spend the gems on other things.

And how do you know they are refunding purchases from years ago?

Because of all the posts of players confused why half of the items they bought years ago qualify for refund and half of them don’t. Even when they were purchased at the exact same time.

I personally don’t have any items I need refunded recently. I’m advocating for people who should be allowed to do so. But when I did refund items, I literally spoke to multiple different GMs and one would refund things another GM would not. It literally depended on which GM I reached to whether or not I would have my items refunded like other people had.

You purchased multiple copies for convenience. You -still- have that convenience and have enjoyed it for however long you’ve owned the multiple copies. That has a value. Anet did say that they would consider refunds on recently purchased items. This makes sense because those people did not get value out of their purchase. You really can’t expect them to refund an item someone has bought and used for potentially years just because they’ve decided they no longer need it.

They are doing just that. But they are picking and choosing who receives refunds. Even for items purchased years ago.

Allowing individual GMs to decide who gets the refund who doesn’t. So it all depends on a lotto system and if you get the right GM at the right time to speak to.

I cant follow the logic in thread, if there is any.

They are refusing to refund players for needless extras after the Account Bound slots were allowed to be purchased.

So they should remove the Accound Bound tags, and allow the extra Harvesting Tools and Salvage kits to be sold to other players on the Trading Post. So they can sell them for in game gold to others and let allows buy them cheaper.

I don’t get the logic. You are saying if you didn’t get a refund, you want to sell your account bound tools. You don’t explain WHY this should happen.

Because the extras are now useless. They serve no purpose other than to be deleted at this point. Why not let us sell them to other players or give them away to others if we cannot receive a refund?

The functionality of the items is still the same. What they did before, they still do now.

I’m not understanding why you have to come here just to defend the fact that they refuse to refund something, they already did before?

I’ve explained my reasoning. So that they can be sold to other players on the Trading Post who will get use out of them.

Because the circumstances are different.

So what exactly is the harm in allowing people to buy them from people who got extras for cheaper, or even people who have extras gifting them to friends?

Are you against people being able to do that?

It takes away what Anet would have made on the gem store.

Someone already paid for the tools once. They already made money from them no matter who owns the tools.

If money was a problem then why did you buy extra salvage o matics to begin with. You still only needed one and could just swap it out at the bank.

The original refund for harvesting tools was granted because now you only needed to buy one and swap it out between characters using the bank option where the prior form required you to purchase one for each character and the change made that redundant.

So what exactly is the harm in letting other players buy or be gifted some of the excess Account Bound gem store tools everyone who bought extras has?

Are you against other players being gifted items or buying them for cheaper?

It’s not. The functionality of the item itself was changed when they made those go from soulbound to account bound.

People bought extras, that we unnecessary to begin with. They introduced a way to make the extras pointless. They refunded players.

People bought extras again for convenience. They introduced a way to make those extras unnecessary again. They should be allowed to refund them. (And they are allowing it but they are refused to do full refunds.)

Karma Gifts -> Orphans. Horrific design.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

Do not use your Karma on this vendor to wrap presents. Here is why. (Because Anet is horrible at designing things.)

-

  • 1 Wooden Dagger + 506 Karma = 1500 Karma when turned in to Orphan
  • Orphans accept only 1 Gift at a time (it’s been 20 minutes no reset on Orphan accepting new Gift.)
  • Total # of Orphans found in DR so far: 7 Orphans.

-

Watch the reset on Orphans is going to turn out to be 24 hours. So you can turn in around 7-10 or however many Orphans exist per day.
-

Thanks Anet…

If you were going to put in a way to get Karma for old wintersday item trade-ins.

  • Why are you limiting how many Gifts can be turned in at a time to 1 per Orphan.
  • Why are there only like 10 Orphans (perhaps there is more but point is still valid, there are hardly any and they are massively spread out.)

If the point was to allow us to earn Karma during Wintersday… why gate it to make it impossible to earn the Karma?

Soulbound Chests of the Mists

in WvW

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

Most of the time I get to play GW2, I WvW. It was nice to be able to use the ACCOUNT BOUND chests to help level Specilizations on my other characters, so that when I did get time to PvE I could play them.

Alot of WvW Guilds have certain setups when they run and people play specific classes 95% of the time they WvW. Which means now when you WvW we are forced to rack up tons of Proofs of Heroics on one character and are being punished for WvW’ing with organized WvW Guilds.

Thank you Anet for dropping the ball and forcing Account Bound items to become Soulbound (the Chests of the Mists).

Thank you for once again punishing the WvW Community just because you felt like it.

I think the big issue is that for a lot of veteran players, they don’t want the level-gated nonsense. They want to have everything available to them on alternate characters so that they can just go out and explore.

I don’t think that’s a wrong sentiment to have.

Loving this update!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

When I first saw all of the blog posts detailing today’s updates, I had my concerns. But after playing with it a bit, I am pleasantly surprised! This is the first MMO I have played that actually took the time with the “tutorial” phase to reach out to players with limited intellectual capacity. This in itself is revolutionary and amazing! This game is so much more accessible now. Think about this for a second – new players who were overwhelmed before now can take in the expansive world of Tyria without undergoing the mental anguish of learning new things in such a short time frame.

Think of all the potential this brings to the game! Pugging a dungeon never looked so promising! Now we will have players who have undergone dodge roll training in the open world! (Sidenote: I got nothing from the chest after completing my dodge roll training – I guess I should have probably bought more BL keys to get magic find from the essences of luck that dropped so frequently while it was still available! Because magic find is very important to get the items you want from chests!)

Players will actually have time to learn their skills now, unlocking weapon skill 5 at level 10 was a fantastic choice. I am thoroughly impressed with this in particular, I imagine it will bring me a sense of character progression and accomplishment when I finally unlock it. To say nothing of the elite skill! I mean, how “elite” could one have possibly been at level 30, right? Level 40 makes much more sense!

I’m also very pleased with the amount of popups I now need to click through. This is a great thing, as I won’t have to buy Internet Explorer Simulator 2014 now. It’s like having 2 games in 1! Everyone wins!

Clearly a lot of thought and work went into this patch, and I am very happy with the results so far. I’m sure both veteran and new players alike playtested this and gave feedback and it shows. Keep them coming, please! If we keep getting feature packs like this, even the most stubborn players will come back!

Some people say you should experience the magic of Disney World at least once in your life and I went there long ago, but this patch makes Guild Wars 2 an even more magical place. Thank you so, so much for brightening my life and gaming experience.

At first I thought someone didn’t see how horrible the 9/9 Feature Patch when I saw the thread title.

Then I read the thread and I realized how brilliantly sarcastic the OP was being. Bravo, OP!

I’m even thinking about recommending people DON’T buy GW2 now. Telling friends who are thinking of playing, not to waste their time or money.

I have been playing for 2+ years, with thousands of hours in game play time. All (8) classes at level 80. Sometimes I get bored and like starting a new character. (Because it is fun to reminisce about the times we were leveling up. The challenge of having to do things a new.)

Please give us a switch to toggle these changes OFF. (Especially when we clearly have all the classes to level 80 already.)

After 2+ years, with all (8) classes level 80 already. Is Anet telling me:

  • “I see you are level 1. You clearly do not know how to play this game. Let me guide you through every agonizing step you have already learned over the past 2 years, and then force you to not be able to disable these changes? Deal with it, or don’t bother making a new character. Thanks.

Is that what is happening here? Are you trying to force older players to simply quit GW2 and make room for the new players only?

  • Does it matter that we’ve played and supported this game for 2+ years already?
  • Or is this your subtle way of telling us, to never ever, ever, dare to make a new character or we will be punished for knowing how to play this game already.*

Did we do something wrong? Are you punishing us?

  • Please allow the new changes to be toggled off for accounts with 1-2 years + or 1,000-5,000+ hours or all (8) classes level 80 already.
  • Please, please. Don’t punish us for being veteran players who have stuck by the game for so long.

Please don’t.

Character Slot Sorting: 17+ Characters

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

17+ Characters and 19 slots currently.

Disclaimer: I am aware that most people likely do not own as many character slots as I currently do. But surely we could somehow receive a better sorting system for our characters.

Topic: Too many characters, why can’t I sort them better?

It can sometimes be very annoying, to have to scroll through to find my level 80’s amongst a sea of mules/alts that are normally holding things. (But are not something I would normally play.)

It would be very nice to be able to select even 1-3 characters that we play the most, or are our mains. Perhaps something like a “Favorites list” (like how the dye system works in the Wardrobe.)

Possible Solutions:

1. Favorites List: Check mark box on corner of character slots. (Check to favorite.)
2. Sort by hours played. (Most played characters always show up first.)
3. Remove scrolling – make icon’s smaller, turn it into a grid and allow them to be sorted manually.

Map Level Goals (Revitalize Maps/DEs)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

While reading another topic I had an idea that could be very worth the Devs/Players time.

Imagine if in addition to the current things each map has: (Rolled out in the least popular/populated/new maps first.)

Dynamic Events, Jumping Puzzles, World Bosses, Dungeons (those that do) and Champions.

Each map (over time) began to receive the “Drytop” treatment. Imagine if over time they rolled out this concept slowly to other maps?

Goals:

1. Make the Dynamic Event system matter (to a larger degree)
2. Build up the already existing/avaliable system
3. Make them more Rewardable (ala, Drytop)

4. Leave the Events on their Dynamic Timers (and require those that need to be activated, to still require being activated by a player as they are now)

5. Players would respond to whichever Event suddenly appeared. (Instead of waiting on set timers.) Allowing Dynamic Events to remain Dynamic.

It could be:

1. Scaled Up/Down to fit the maps level system. (example: 1-10, 11-15, 65-70, 70-80)
2. Rewards would be unlocked through doing chains of Dynamic Events already present
3. It could require a large time investment from players to earn the Rewards presented by each new map. (Skins and Backpieces that would require work, time and be valued not by their gold worth. But by the amount of effort the players had to go through to obtain them.)

Most of the rewards would be meant to be obtained over time. Not to be earned instantly but something to be worked for. Like Dungeons were when we first began playing GW2 on day 1.

Clearly those present during the original release of the map would earn them faster. (Due to there being more players to reach the higher tiers and receive a lower cost.)

But:

4. All Rewards could be purchased at the lowest levels (1/2) of the Tier System for higher costs. Thus, making it possible for Guilds to run these instances with players and have the resources to unlock them, years later.

Something that could be achieved upon the Living Story release, but could also be obtained years later. (More costly, but still achieve-able.)

Commander Tag Changes Feedback [merged]

in WvW

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

Inb4 this was a calculated ‘leak’ so they can then ‘generously’ change the decision to show how ‘in touch’ they are with WvW players.

Say what

I’m just going to squash this rumor right now. Before the strong negative feedback received after the interview at gamescom, every intention was for each color to cost 300g. Pending QA, that version was ready to ship for the feature pack.

When the flood of feedback came in, there was a flurry of emails working out the best course of action, and in the end Zach and Tyler worked the weekend to make sure this change could be made on time for 9/9.

<3 Again, thank you.

The other change would not have given us the functionality to use the tags properly in WvW and to assign roles to them, through player consensus.

Only certain WvW Commanders would have been able to afford certain colors, and trying to give them roles would have been chaotic and messy.

Commander Tag Changes Feedback [merged]

Sounds like all the colors will be available from the start. Which makes a lot of sense.

We can now choose how to use them. This was we can differentiate, especially in WvW what Commander is doing what.

Maybe a good compromise would be to add permanent access passes for SAB to the Gem Store. I’d be willing to pay 2,000 gems per world. What would you be willing to pay?

Precursors selling for 65 Gold on TP!

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

Does it make sense (i.e. is it fun?) that a player’s progress towards that goal can be blocked or even erased because timmy plays 8 hours a day or has mom’s credit card?

Is that how you think it works? When Timmy logs in to play or uses mom’s credit card the game removes the gold from your inventory?

Or is your position that people who acquire gold faster than you are able to buy things faster than you is somehow a problem that requires fixing?

Understanding fail.

My point was that the gap never closes. You farmed 500g since the beginning of May. You started 1000g away from buying your pre. Meanwhile, timmy and his buddies have ground out 1500g and bid up the prices. You are still 1000g away from getting there = you made no progress.

^ Cleary not following the math which proves otherwise.

0g of 1000g = 0% on the way to said Precursor.
500g of 1500g = 33% on the way to said Precursor.

Clear and very well defined progress.

Conversation was in absolute terms.

At what point does progress equal 100% under the assumed scenario using your method?

Did you actually ask that? Of course you did.

Progress = 100% when you have the Precursor in your inventory.

Wrong. In the relative % terms that you tried to troll with, under the scenario that we were talking about (you farm 500g over 6 months but the price increases by the same amount) you are always 1000g away and it never reaches 100% using your relative measurement.

You ignore your own invalid assumptions.

Invalid assumptions:

Assuming the impossible 500g increase per month. (Impossible because that would be 10g at Launch at least. Compounded 500g per 6 month time frame.) Precursors would all be nearing 2,010g a piece right now.

Looking at the correct prices of the most expensive Precursors (roughly 1400g let’s say it is 1500g.) Adjusting for 2 year lifespan of price. Would indicate an amount of 375g per 6 months.

Adjusted price of: 375g (assuming 1500g current max price of Precursors over almost 2 years/4 sets of 6 months)

If you can only farm about 500g in 6 months as you say. (Fairly easy. Considering I do no less than 5g/hour and closer to 10g/daily over the course of a month.)

You would be farming roughly: 2.7g per day

500g 6/months – 375g 6/months (price raise 6 months) = 125g profit each 6 months closer to Precursor.

I, on average doing the not-inhuman task of: 10g/day

1820g 6/months – 375g 6/months (price raise 6 months) = 1445g profit each 6 months closer to Precursor.

Your invalid assumption is that 2.7g per day is a valid amount.

No one I know who runs at least 2 AC paths/1 CoF path makes less than 4.15g a day from the end Dungeon Reward. (Most make upwards of 5-6g/day from these at the very minimum.)

Factoring no play during Weekdays at all.

It would take you roughly: (2 days of) 2 AC/1 CoF/1 TA/2 SE/1 HotW/1-2 CoE paths to make the same amount you would earn from around 1 hour per day of Dungeons.

All of which would earn you at minimum (as I said) 28g/week. (Or 672g/6 months.)

None of this is counting ANY drops, including all the T6 mats, Rares (ectos from rare/straight sell on TP), random Exotics, Dungeon Tokens. Or anything else obtained from doing such.

Using said method:

672g 6/months – 375g 6/months (price raise 6 months) = 297g profit closer each month to Precursor

GPU upgrade for WvW HELP

in WvW

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

Running settings on low, in a 30v30v30 fight I get about 30-40 fps. In a 30v30 fight about 40-50fps, relatively okay.

CPU: Intel i7-2600k OC’d to 4.3Ghz.
GPU: GeForce GTX 750 OC 1GB.

CPU is bottlenecking, I believe this is why my fps drops a ton sometimes also I cannot run this game in medium graphics in WvW because the lag gets worse. I want to be able to run this game on medium/high so that I can render more people in WvW and see them instead of only seeing their red names above their heads and their invisible bodies. Hard to land important CC that way.

CPU MAX Usage: 35% on task manager.
GPU MAX Usage: 100%.

Anyone has similar problems as mine? Is it just my GPU that needs an upgrade or is it the CPU too? Will a GPU from the 770 series give me an incredible boost to my graphics+fps or is it just a waste of money? I’ve been hearing a lot of broscience lately on GW2 graphics+fps on WvW, please someone set me straight with facts and evidence of any truth.

Regards, Krisi.

I’m running a:

i7 4770k (should give similar performace, depends on your over clocking)
2x Radeon 7870s (not sure how much dual cards matters in GW2)

High Settings
Normal 30v30+: 80-110 FPS
Large scale 30v30v30+: 50-60 FPS

I only run Medium if I am doing something in the background on my PC other than GW2. Like having a second game open, or a bunch of programs.

Usually I would agree that it is the CPU being a bottleneck, and clearly in GW2 it is a huge bottleneck.

But our two CPUs being so similar. I can only see that it is likely your GPU bottle necking you, yes.

New Vine Backpiece, and, Precursor crafting?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

Is this a large hint that the Precursor Scavenger hunt could be coming to us soon?

Please ArenaNet, let it be so! <3

In order to make the new Vine backpiece, and upgrade it to it’s highest quality. (Ascended, then Infused Ascended.) It requires quite a lot of steps, but not only those steps, it requires completing differing types of content to finish it entirely.

1) – Living Story – First you need to do the Living Story to acquire the starting pieces.

2) – Open World/Exploration – Then you must map travel and interact with the environment in game to properly infuse these new-found items. By exploring the maps and finding the places necessary to infuse them.

3) – Gathering – So far you are only required to gather to get the Foxfire Clusters.

4) – The Mists – You must venture into the Mists, FotM specifically. But imagine if the time you spent in the Mists War gave you what you needed to build your legend?

5) – Crafting – Then use Ascended Crafting to build the components gathered throughout the game. (Ascended Mats: Bloodstone Dust, Empyreal Fragments, Dragonite Ore — which can come from WvW, Dungeons, Open World Events, Boss Fights, Champ Loot Bags, etc.)

The process is long. But the same could be said for a Precursor Scavenger Hunt. The process will be long, require us to interact not only with the Living Story, for the Living World around us. For us to venture into all sides of the game, on the epic hunt to find what we need to, in a new way, craft the Precursor to our Legendary.

The Precursor hunt would likely be more challenging, and longer. But could this newest backpiece, as someone else said in another thread: A Precursor to the Precursor hunt/crafting?

A Precursor that would come from exploring, and saving, Tyria.

SPOILER: Anise...

in Living World

Posted by: Ashadow.6874

Ashadow.6874

I don’t think Anise is Livia, they aren’t similar enough, Livia wasn’t a Mesmer (at all) and Anise clearly doesn’t use anything that’s not Mesmer based.

But the fact that dual profession was a thing in GW and the fact that ~250 years have passed since the events of GW would make one think that Livia wouldn’t sit idly without developing her skills further or getting deeper in another school of magic.

Your assumption is something like “that person can’t be a professor! Last time he/she was but a primary school student! No way he can be something different now!”.

But Livia has had quite a long time to master another profession. In fact, Livia has had quite a couple lifetimes worth of time. Imagine what our characters from Guild Wars 1 would be like today, IF they lived the last couple of centuries continuing to train after they Ascended?

All these single class punks, would be cannon fodder.

That’s exactly what I meant. Your point?

Oh I was just adding on to what you were saying. That if we were to imagine how powerful our GW1 characters would have become, being allowed to live since we last played them.

There is clearly nothing stopping Livia from being powerful enough to become an extraordinary Mesmer as well as a Necromancer.

I think we may be clutching at straws here just a tad. Whilst I admire the optimism, that’s a huuuuuuge leap to get Elona from that cutscene

True.

I was just watching the cutscene and when they show us the buildings coming up from the ground, like a city in the distance. It made me remember how Elona, is refered to as the Land of the Golden Sun. I could not help but the light was particularly golden.

But it was not just that. It was also Trahearne’s mentioning of them going after Kralkatorrik.

Kralkatorrik just so happens to rest in the Crystal Desert. In between the rest of Tyria and Elona.
