They are loyally farming the living story champs.
Almost everything in WvW is an event. In the PvE, world events are subject to scaling. Right now, guard NPCs are a joke and need a revamped overhaul.
In an ideal world, guards would scale during the events when hit by a zerg. They would increase in difficulty and number based on the size of the zerg.
But, herein lies the problem: the current scaling system goes by total number of players in the area. I’m almost 100% sure that it doesn’t/wouldn’t consider friendly allies in the scaling equation.
I can solo a tower with an alpha or omega . I’ve taken a keep with 3.
Currently, undefended fortifications are not difficult to capture. Sparsely defended fully upgraded fortifications are still easily captured. Fully player defended fortification are appropriately difficult to capture.
Typically, once anywhere from a group of 5-orange swords begin assaulting any objective in wvw , guards become a non-factor.
So here is my question to Anet: will we see a change in WvW to guards? There difficulty and/or increased numbers. Because they area non factor.
Two of the original GW founders left? Great, I already put hundreds of dollars into the game and now I learn that the company may turn it into yet another interwebz grindfest?
So people are complaining that LW is driving ANet developers away who left the company long before GW2 was created…hmmm…yeah that makes sense.
- Jeff Strain left ANet in 2008 for NCSoft West and then left NCSoft in 2009.
- Patrick Wyatt left ANet in 2008 for NCSoft West and then left NCSoft and is currently part of En Masse Entertainment.
- GW2 was announced in 2007, shown off to the public in 2009, and released in 2012. Those guys were long gone before much of GW2 was even developed let alone the LW.
While I agree that the LW stuff may come a tad too fast…personally I’d like to see every 3-4 weeks instead of the current schedule, but people cannot claim that game developers are leaving because of the current LW plan.
this is just pure speculation on my part, but if Living story/world concept was in gw2 at inception and, if by chance, all those devs were so opposed to the living story/world concept that they jumped ship before real development began, then HYPOTHETICALLY, you could assume that Living story/World content did in fact drive away some of ANet’s Top developers.
GW2lfg.com is still vibrant with groups for all kinds of content. Don’t know what the fuzz is about.
regardless! i shouldn’t, WE shouldn’t, have to use 3rd party functions for things we should be able to do with our guild mates/friends and server populations.
I am looking forward to the random invasions. I just hope they’re really random and not “on monday at 19:30 Gendarran Fields will be invaded” and “on tuesday at 14:00 Frostgorge Sound will be invaded”…

Stability being a counter for a 4 second Stun on a 7 to 10 second Cooldown is the most hilarious thing in this thread.
I believe the quote of

You can also use stunbreakers, blind, evade, dodge…
But with at least one stability and one stunbreak you got 16-20 seconds until he can hit you again with skull crack. And this his if you dont have passive defensive traits that ignore CC. After that you can dodge, evade, blind if you are not in the mood to keep distance while the warrior is with the mace.

normally we lose 50% of our wvw pop for events. now we are losing 80% of our wvw pop to living story.
not an excuse, we just cant compete with our lack of coverage.
i did have fun routing sbi’s 20man at orchard in dh bl tho earlier.
if u dont put any reward ppl dont join the event, if u put a good reward ppl farm event, so like this one everyone left all the game for farming, just do something that u can take reward once per week, so everyone can choose 1 hr per week to enjoy the lw content and they will do cause have a good reward, and the other time we have, we can do all that we want… atm gw2 it become like other mmo, too many farm
its not that there are too many farms, its that there is only one good one at a time, and ANet likes to punish everyone for farming the content because w have to do it while we have the chance to before it gets nerfed. instead of anet going back to a regular concept of grind with a much more relaxed DR grind system, they insist on psuedo-portraying a “casual” gaming environment.
this forces players to, yet again, farm while the farming is good and available before it gets nerfed the kitten to hell.
all the evidence is in front of them, its too bad that Gem Store is the bottom line now -a-days

Works fine as is. Leave it alone. I have both stacks for sigils perma sigil or on swaps and I actually hardly every use the sigil stats because I expect to die a lot.

Not sure wtf the hype is about heal signet. I used to use it pre buff because I lazy. I switched to surge right before the patch because I was getting beaten by surge wars.
Now every time i fight a sig war i laugh at the free kill. IMO the only SIG you need it rage And that’s not even necessary when you should run warbanner for groups.
You also know burst skills cleanse poison, right?

with all these extra animations on back pieces now, i don’t see why it would be hard to code in capes/cloaks.
I would have no objection to having a skill which ends your downstate and puts you in dead state. Whichever way you get there though the opponents should still get full benefits from your death.
Heck, I’m in the camp which thinks the opponents should get full benefit for defeating you if they run you off

this match would be over in a matter of seconds had the thief used poison or bleeding. obviously íf he doesn’t understand the mechanics of the game, then hes not going to understand that this build is not “unkillable”.

So you are suggesting that when a champion is killed, guild members turn into banner warriors…. because everything you just posted, banner warriors do.

Agreed. Would prefer a +20 level compared to a 0-20 lvl scroll. I only have two classes left not lvl 80 and they are both over level 20, so this doesn’t help me at all. Just wasting apace in my inventory/bank ATM.

DAOC is outdated junk, get over it.
The game itself is out dated but the concept and design behind the game play has yet to be matched by any game coming after. This is why so many people continue to reference it and will continue to do so until a game company manages to produces something on par.

Also, in DAoC the way relics worked: Originally, they were housed in an extremely fortified keep. 2-3 outer breakable gates, 2-3 inner breakable gates, ramps to give chokepoints. Higher level and number of guards to protect the relic keep. (unlike gw2 guards which are a terrible joke)
The way DAoC keep’s functioned was that the number of relic guards reduced, if a keep was taken. If a large number of the first realm’s keeps are taken, then there is a significant reduction in the amount of relic guards.
That gave people a reason to defend keeps instead of simply waiting to back cap for easy wxp.
once the relic was captured, it must then be transported back to the enemy players relic keep. Mobility of the carrier was reduced, lets say by 50-66%, in order to give the realm losing the relic a chance to stop the loss of their relic.
If the realm was successful enough to capture the enemy relic, they were given a 10% boost across all stats/economy, i think (been so long cant remember the specifics of the relic bonuses at release)
WVW needs a Darkness Falls. That is all.
But why?
That is so easy. Darkness Falls was Fun. So fun that it is arguably more fun than any one thing in GW2 alone (though GW2 has done many fun things DAoC didn’t, to be fair).
More than that, it was the ultimate tie-in mechanic.
- By having a little bit of great PvE content controlled by RvR success, it encouraged PvE’rs to participate and care about the war effort.
- It also meant that when 1 team was “winning” (by PPT, not total points), they would flee battlefields and go clear out Darkness Falls of enemy players, creating the ultimate balance effect. With the winning team in Darkness Falls, the other realms could retake the offensive in the warfront, something that never happens in GW2 (the winning team in GW2 is never at a disadvantage).
- RvR players clearing out enemy players from DF protected the lowbies and PvE’rs who wanted to go inside, creating a real sense of server community.
- It gave minor moments of winning to the weaker team purpose: Midguard probably never won overall for long, but winning just long enough to get their people entrenched in DF was a huge and satisfying victory for their entire realm.
- Winning/losing in GW2 is currently meaningless. There are no enemy names, no recognizable guild claimed keeps, no death spam (all of which = no Pride), and no physical reward (like dungeon access).
- Darkness Falls still had a lot of pvp fights in it. You make it sound like players would be leaving WvW to go to southshore when they won. In reality, they are leaving to go to an area densely populated with enemy players, in a very fun, indoors-combat map.
- It gave small groups places to shine, similar to Prog in Warhammer or Stillmoor in Rift. GW2 at the moment, is all open field zergland all day long, except at jumping puzzles that matter even less than the objectives.
The lack of the Darkness Falls mechanic was talked about a lot at game launch, its really hard to understand why you guys didn’t do it. Not having it only holds the WvW in this game back.

DF gave the realms a tangible reward to fight over, a zone that only one side could access, unless the other realms took control. unlike relics/orbs which only gave bonuses.

if the boons stayed on when you cancelled the elite form, it would be ok, but as it stands now, its the most useless elite warriors have, next to avatars, dont even get me started on the hounds.

Yeah it stands for Dark Age of Camelot. And that ranger would be Quickcry. You’re more likely to find him hanging around Mend or right by the enemy’s spawn if you want to fight him again.

Dear Assassin X, I run with 1 other Mes and its not hard to get wxp when u just hit these ridiculous zergs with 2 feedbacks and 2 Null Fields, boom wxp galore, sry will start ss just for you. By your name I assume you are a thief, well since your just about the only class that runs and hides just to reset a fight, you, of all people should know how to get wxp with out the zergs.

still not quite sure why people dont understand that WvW is SERVER vs SERVER vs SERVER. don’t get kitten when a SERVER runs together if they choose to do so.
I would use surge over signet because you healing stat is only 300. If you stacked healing to 1500+it’d be a different story. As far as shout healing goes, you have to consider this: do i want to have that relatively meager amount of healing at some interval, or do k want to have those shout buffs at the most opportune time in battle? I’d go with the latter.
The build on my signature I consider to be extremely high DPS with high survivability for my playstyle , which may or may not work for you. Also, I have been theory crafting this build for a while and haven’t gotten a chance to run it yet, but on paper it looks great.
