So we have players who want it removed and players who want it to stay .
We all agree that a downed player has been defeated.
Give the credit (loot) to the player /players who defeated him/her.
and count it as a kill.
Me 2
Firegoth no it is not cause now i am really bored and the journey to get there was really boring i mean face it the story sucked! And the heart quests are chores not epic quests like most mmos out there. So i would rather them have taken there time to develop quests stories and epicness so the game wasn’t rushed into boring level 80. There’s nothing to do but farm. This game is over glorified PVP so at least get rid of the down state and do something right in this game.
Your opinion of the story is your own.
Finally someone who loves Trahearn and the Epic battle with Zhaitan.
Another guy sharing our opinion but who will listen.

Its a necessary evil in pve, due to the whole game being based on one-shots.
Useless and annoying in pvp/wvw.
This
I agree with OP.
they should also remove the daily chest that drops from dragon event and make it have a chance to drop a unique weapon Like shadow behemoth Final rest.
GW2 with NO real PvP and a zerg lag WvW and Pve with NO end game gets No 1.
the other MMOs must be really really bad.
Yeh, exactly, i watched it but with all those speed up/slow down, quick pov change, i really couldnt understand much, i can just guess something about the game from what ppl say here…. so far seems to me it was more focused on teamwork in the fight, with more supportive spells and stuff like that.
Well that video was made for people who were playing gw1 at that time. Try this video and it’s follow ups:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdJM0xsbHhs
It’s quite long but it’s the best video for non gw1 players to watch.
Thanks for this I watched the whole 3 parts. Great GVG.
Everything in GW2 is suffering from the game design.
it is not just PvP .
WvW is slowly losing players.
Playing PvE is like playing farmville in facebook you will get the same challenge.
I agree there is no place for down state in any form of PVP.
give us Resurrection skills instead.
In most of games (if not all) a team that communicate well have a great advantage over the other one. In all my pvp experience even from other games i always used TS to coordinate with my mates.
The difference is that in gw2 seems really mandatory, cause of its dynamic gameplay and the need of quick reaction in term of team strategy.
This might not be really new-user-friendly, but i think any competitive pvp isnt.off topic: everyone saying that gw1 pvp was so much better, I tried to look it up on youtube but i could only find gw2 vids, anyone can provide me a link of some good gw1 pvp ?
just type this in Google or YouTube and enjoy:
Guild Wars GvG : rawr vs KMD
as a casual player. because of work I missed the karka event and didn’t have enough time after doing dailies for frost and flames .
so anything that is temporary I will not be able to finish it.
I totally agree with you.
So if there will be no expansion for 6-12 months.
how will Anet keep players in the game with NO real PvP and Pve that have NO end game.( don’t tell me it free to play they can come back because if they are not playing they are not using the gem store).
I’m with NC soft this time this game need an expansion but with BIG CHANGES .
Anet are saying they want to improve the game. but the living story is doing nothing .
Anet should research and see why the players are leaving the game before doing anything.
So you could by Factions and not own the original game and it would be playable?
Yes.
We have players under the age of 18 if they do buy it is that illegal(online gambling).
Working as intended.
It is not a bug.
All Mobs do it.
Reported this as a bug from my first day of playing GW2 (3days head start).
I guess Anet wants the mobs to fight like thief (oh I’m losing time to disengage).
I would love to have a pistol main hand weapon (or any other weapon) cuz I don’t like scepter and I’m forced to go melee If I go with sword.
It’s O.K. , I forgive you, just send me your gold
I’m poor and have to buy cloth and weapons for 8 char.
No worries, mate, the game can’t be for everyone. By the same token, I loved Guild Wars 1 too. Played it for well over a thousand hours (probably ever 2000) over the course of five years. But I knew Guild Wars 2 would have to be different for a lot of reasons, and I came into the game expecting those differences.
This isn’t the perfect game. But when compared to other MMOs (not Guild Wars 1 which wasn’t a true MMO), this is the best thing available now.
Most MMOs take a year or two before they mature into what they’ve later become. I still think the game, over all, is going in the right direction. For example, the living story started off slowly but finally gained some momentum. I think they’ve learned from this and future living stories will be more interesting.
Anyway, the game has a long way to go but it’s far better than any other MMO I’ve played at this point in it’s development.
I agree tried Tera for a while but came back to GW2.
didn’t know I can send PM.
It is my frustration with the game. nothing against you.
after waiting all this time for GW2 now I have hard time to accept it is not for me.
I agree with ppl who say GW2 has potential but how long before we see it.
every patch we see small changes but nothing done with the core.
you can call me legendary defender of GW1 I love that game and I know you love GW2.
some ppl come and disagree they don’t understand that our problem is that we are not having fun playing the game because of what the OP said.
I don’t really care about DR, I don’t have an attention span long enough to hit it. Loot tables are kittening kitten in this game, 1 of the worst I ever seen. I have limited time to play and want to maximize my gains in that time. I don’t care for the legendary, I think most of them are fugly and I will not spend years trying to put one together. The end game for me is making money and mats to try new gear and builds on all my alts and playing WvW which is a huge gold sink. With Anet nerfing all the good money making spots they are effectively killing the end game for me and a lot of players like me and I find myself playing less and less and wanting to play less. They advertised playing the game the way you want and be able to get anything you want by doing so which is a kittening lie. It’s down to the mega events and temples and farm CoF1. Anything else is a waste of time cause you aren’t getting rewarded for it. WvW players can’t just play WvW if they wanted to cause you inevitably spend more money then you can make unless all you do is zerg, never upgrade anything and never build any siege. Anet really needs to review the rewards system in GW2.

According to this in order to play the game you have to use the gem store.
1-player 1 got his legendary day 1 using gem store.
2- player 2 want to earn his legendary and refuse to use the gem store.
3- player 3 is poor and cant afford it.
Anet made it to take years to get a legendary (if you are unlucky with the precursor).
now tell me they are not pushing us to use the gem store. You – don’t – need – a – legendary – PERIOD.
I think we have two slightly different topics here. The first is about farming and how ArenaNet deals with it. In my book, they do a pretty good job making farming as hard as possible and they most definitively should continue doing so. Farming is not healthy for a game, it just drains players time and forces them to do things that not all of them enjoy over and over again.
If you could decide for your own whether or not you want to farm ArenaNet shouldn’t interfere, but this is just not how it works. Farming people screw the eco for people who don’t want to farm and therefore force them to do so, that’s what has happend in almost every other theme park mmo and it would have happen to GW2 too if ArenaNet hadn’t taken countermeasures.
However, there are certain items in this game you can farm, but those are all account bound on pick up (fractal weapons, dungeon tokens, honor badges, …) and therefor cannot harm the eco.
The second topic is about legendaries and what a player has to do in order to get them. Here I do agree that ArenaNet did a rather bad job. Legendaries should have been tied to something like the Personal Story and shouldn’t require any non-accountbound mats at all.
And I don,t need to play the game.and you want ppl to play the game your way not the way they enjoy it. if someone wants to do a dungeon a million times why not if he is enjoying it.

now tell me they are not pushing us to use the gem store.okay. I never had to use the gem store, so how are they pushing players to use it?
Besides that player 1 should have spent over 1000 dollars to get one.
If you’re saying he got in on day 1, he would have had to a) crack the game to get from level 1 to 80 in a day, b) get extremely lucky with a precursor c) get full map explore in a day d) pay over 500 dollars e) hoard up both WvW and dungeon tickets. Because guess what? Legendaries only recently became an item that’s sold on the black lion. Therefore getting a legendary day 1 was completely impossible.
I also don’t know any people that bought their legendary using gems. Not a single one.
I’m saying it is easy using the gem store
Welcome to the Gem Store
why play the game(farm) while you can get everything in seconds.
you get em from doing story they don’t drop
Why is Anet nerfing every single farming location that players find?
Because this game never intended to allow you to farm in the first place. Hence in launched with diminishing returns in exp, money and loot.
Why keep nerfing things you ask? Because people like you still didn’t get the point that you are not supposed to farm in this game.because of the gem store and being able to convert gold to gems. if people were able to bring in loads of gold they could essentially buy everything in the gem store without paying anet any money. they dont want that.
it’s not that hard to be able to buy everything in the gem store with gold. That’s what I’ve been doing, that’s why gold to gems exchange ratio is so high. If people were buying gems and exchanging those to gold gold to gem ratio would be extra low.

try to do things with other ppl (wvw)
Not to mention open world events don’t equal all events. The Orrian temples are much harder than the Claw of Jormag, so much so that most people don’t even do them. And of course dungeon content is harder too. Guild missions are harder. Fractals are harder.
Why pick a single very visible dragon event to make your point, OP?
Harder does not equal more challenge since we have one hit kill in this game
I think it is because of one or more of Anet decisions:
…
Anet created a Zerg game where you don’t need others and it is total chaos.
GW@ should be called Zerg wars.
2-Skills being tied to weapons.
…Not trying to be picky, but how can you have a Zerg where you don’t need others?
To do anything that is called group event you need other players to take that HUGE HP down that creates zerg .
Magic find = Selfish Leecher
According to whom?
To players who carry em through the game
Magic find = Selfish Leecher
I think it is because of one or more of Anet decisions:
1-Removal of holy trinity with nothing replacing it.
this has caused NO Challenge NO Team Play.
every time I do the claw of jormag and see players dying not because they are bad players but it is the game design and notice that I have died in GW2 more than in all my years playing mmos.
Anet created a Zerg game where you don’t need others and it is total chaos.
GW@ should be called Zerg wars.
2-Skills being tied to weapons.
this is the worst decision they made has led to boring game play .
I think the above two decisions are the worst Anet came with.
on land :
from playing my Mesmer I noticed that when I have scepter the auto attack for me and my clones is too slow which means less conditions on my target.
underwater:
my clones underwater attack faster(no scepter) which means more condition on my target
the difference is so big on land my clones will apply max 2 to3 conditions before dying
underwater my clones will apply max 22 conditions.
I thing the auto attack speed of scepter need a buff it is useless weapon.
What I really like to see in the monthly patch is fixing a major problems with GW2 (IN MY OPINION).
1- Direct damage > Condition damage.
2-Loot based on damage done instead of participation(a lot of builds are not played because of this).
3- whatever replaced the holy trinity is not working in its current state (make combo fields stronger/remove one hit kill).
4-Improve the mechanics of dragons(including Zhaitan in personal story).
Dragons in GW2 are in severe pain.
@vayne finally someone who also sees at least a noticeable part of the picture.
I’m just a new former so I don’t know this forest trees thing. But I totally understand your views.
Now let’s just leave this thread because I know that you know that everything we are talking about here is 99% pointless.
Perspective… It decides the people who will be stuck as mere gamers and those who will move onto the next level.
Good day young ones.
Like you and Vayne we all love GW2 and we don’t want to change it to GW1.
We just need it improved to be a better game.
How many players left ( or taking long break) GW2 because they found it boring to like only one weapon and using the same skills for months.
the question is do you want them to come back and play again?
Do you foresee the addition of more skills for each already existing weapon, or at the moment are you content with keeping it the way it is with only one set of skills per weapon?
Jonathan: The big thing right now is that we’re trying to keep it focused on content. You guys will see that a lot of the patches coming out in the future will be really focused on a lot of new content that we’re trying to do. One thing we want to do right now, though, is that we want to keep the number of skills on weapons the same. What we’re really trying to do, as far as balance goes, is really focus on trait revisions. We feel that traits open up a lot of the weapons for a lot of the classes. And the reason for this is that some of the classes don’t have as many viable options, maybe in PvE, or specifically in dungeons, or PvP or WvW. What we’re basically seeing is that some of the classes have one or two viable builds. And a lot of the times it’s the traits that help open up viable builds for people. So right now we’re focusing more on traits and less on the weapons themselves, but in the future that could be something we do – add more stuff to them.
from reading the answers to this question and the other one about adding new weapons here what I think is on A-net table after adding the new story content.
1-Fix traits to make each class has more than 2 viable builds.
2-Add existing weapons to the class that don’t have them.
3-Add new weapons (expansion).
4-Add new skills to weapons(if players cry for more skills).
What do you think, because adding more skills(not now in the future as long they will do it) is what is going to keep me playing and invest my time in GW2.
Its a very fun game and it just keep getting better as time goes on. If any thing ppl are not leaving you may have some ppl get bored from time to time but they do come back after an update and this is how GW1 was the big thing about GW2 is there are things like WvW that keeps major pop. playing every day.
Any way these is one of these at least once a week please read the forums for the other threads like this and post there. There not much reason to make a new one every time you feel you need to make some weird declaration to no one.
The reason these posts re-occur is because people feel like they have been robbed of their previous experiences or even mislead to some degree. We are concerned for the game because we are loyal and hope that at some stage we could come to thoroughly enjoy the game once again if there is a chance that the things that were true to Guild wars, are implemented in some way.
We all bought Guild wars 2 because we all loved Gw1. The reputation was there and we went along with it until we realized how drastically different it actually was.
These threads have a place on the forum because it raises concern. If we didn’t care, we wouldn’t waste our time writing here.
We? Glad you could speak for all of us there chief.
We = ppl who loved GW1 bought gw2
and he /she can’t be wrong on this .
GW2 has not hooked me like GW1 did. GW2 is okay in its own way but its definitely too different and as such has not come to what I expected.
Don’t get me wrong, “different” can be good and TBH I could not wait for GW2 to come out… but now that its out (for a while now) I am slightly disappointed in it that it didnt make me want to keep playing it almost every day like GW1 did. I feel like I keep trying to convince myself why GW2 is good but i keep going back to my memories of GW1.
I think it is due to several reasons:
1. Minimal Build diversity/customising
GW1 was just perfect. Had many skills at our disposal to choose from to form different builds to serve different purposes per profession.
Being able to fine tune a build was something I heavily invested time in to find new viable builds and was just extremely fun to do to even pass time. I cant recall how many times I was away from the game just figuring out builds that would synergize well.
Now, GW2… I cant really say the same about it. Build customization is non-existent. Utility skills are quite pitiful too in nearly every aspect (lacking options, super high cooldowns, many are just redundant).Huge loss…
2. Re-spec’ing
GW1 was simple and effective. Not too difficult to achieve and at minimal expense to the player.
GW2 has made respec’ing a lot more difficult. Financially. Good luck buying effective rune sets (if you claim money is no issue I challenge you to send me 6x sup runes of the eagle) and armors…lets not forget the additional money sink to reset your traits and the NEED to actually go to an npc to get this done… fun fun.3. Health vs. Damage
Why over complicate things and go into the 1000’s? Higher numbers = more impact?
Again, Why stray so far from the GW1 formula???
Also, every profession in GW1 had the exact same amount of base max health (with the exception of runes altering them slightly but to no great degree). I don’t understand why max health per profession in GW2 vary so significantly. One would simply say “balance purposes” to justify this decision but if that was the case… all I have to say is “just look at GW1”.4. Depth of battle
GW1 was deep and the strategy was intense which was something i LOVED about it. You would work with a team to get the most effective synergy and had a role to play in an effort to destroy an enemy team or mob. You wouldn’t just blow all your skills straight away on one enemy (and wait till they off cooldown to just use it again no matter what the situation) but would time your skills waiting for opportune moments to achieve max effect.GW2 seems to be about how many numbers you can take away in how little time just by blowing your whole skill set in one go. The depth of battle cannot be compared to that of GW1. I can tell you one thing… I don’t look for a fire wall to shoot my arrows through it. Nor do I place a fire wall down with the intention of amplifying allies skills. If allies combo up with it, then it was merely right place, right time. Nothing more.
I may be underselling a few things but this is how I feel and if you reflect back on those years of GW1 experiences, I’m sure you can relate.
If these things were looked into further… I will be one happy chappy.
To add this to GW2 to make it more fun it need extra work on the A-net Dev team which they stated it will never happen.
not even once after 6+ months they mentioned anything about adding more skills.
Why did people buy the product specifically advertised as such then? Isn’t it the same as entering an MMO shooter and then complaining that MMO and shooter don’t go together?
Why does anyone buy something and realise they don’t like it? I thought this was going to be a little more like GW1. I was wrong.
No you were not wrong .
They lied to us “GW2 takes everything you love about GW1 and puts it into a fully persistent world”.
-Makes an entire game around the concept of getting rid of the trinity and dedicated healers.
-Players ask for dedicated healing class and more trinity features.
I’m sure that there’s an AreanNet Dev/GM/Mod repeatedly smashing their head against a wall right now.
“Hey I swung a sword, I swung a sword again. We don’t want you to do that in Guild Wars 2”
Totally agree. Wait…

Fun time 3-6 months after that time for a break and check for updates I think this is the reality of gw2 now.
You can play a tank healer in GW2 but there are things that stop us from doing that:
1- Nothing in GW2 mechanic requires you to do so.
2-You can kill everything faster using a dps party.
3-you get better loot if you play dps build.unless A-net change that we will all play DPS.
I think A-net should make it optional for the ppl that want to play tank-healer. and I think a partial trinity system will improve the game TESO is going this route.3 is utterly false
1 depends on how a person plays. Example – if you’re running high level dungeons without toughness or good healing one mistake can kill you.One of the Dev said that the more damage you do the better the loot I’m not making this up.
give direct link and a quote then.
Colin Johnson:
“Please note, it is still possible to kill a creature and not do enough damage to qualify for loot (which is the only way you won’t get loot for a champion)”That doesn’t say that the loot increases in how much damage you do. That only states that you need to do 10% damage to an enemy to qualify for loot. Which is very easy to do on regular trash mobs and requires only a little bit of effort of high level bosses in dungeons.
I switch to my staff/shield and mace and have 3200 Toughness, that doesn’t make me a tank either.
Yes, partially healer, tank and support, but it all mixed together in one big bleh.
Would be nice to see to fully spec into non attacking backline healer/supporter only.you’re looking for a game with trinity then. Might want to try out a different MMO from this one
And you support communism, want all professions to have same DPS/Heal/Tanking abilities. Right? North Korea would welcome you.
don’t start a political debate please. I don’t support North Korea or anything they do. That was a blatant attack towards me.
Tell that to my Mesmer because he has bad luck everyday killing trash mobs before the event of Teq starts he get nothing or bones (solo kill) as soon I switch to my Warrior I get drops 90% of the time good drops.

I guess I have to wait for Guild Halls to play GvG .I think we will get that in the next expansion.
In WvW we are fighting for our server the whole week. that is good end game for GW2 but why not get more from WvW as end game content here is how:
No WvW Friday instead we will have a tournament. Guilds from each server will fight each other and the winners from each server will fight until we have a winner for that month(best guild of the month).
there will be no use of siege weapons and no supply and no capture of any building. the objective is to kill the guild lord of the other guild who is surrounded by NPCs.
Each guild could have 10 or 15 players.
what do you guys think of this.
